A middle name for Violet

Any ideas for middle names for dd2, who we're going to call Violet? Our surname has 4 syllables, begins with F and ends with u (not English). Do you like Violet Penelope? (Penelope is my dm's name) or do you think Violet needs something shorter and sweeter to complement it? How about Violet Nina or Violet Maeve? - would it look too much llike Violet Mauve?? Please let your creativity run wild as I'd love something beautiful and original but very classy.

Ta!

Just had to butt in and say that Violet Belle is LOVELY. Also think Violet Marie might be nice?

Plibble · 18/01/2007 11:03

Violet Laure (not Laura). Lovely.

sunnysideup · 18/01/2007 11:04

I don't actually think any of these names are 100% perfect with violet, though Violet Belle has the best ring to it....

why not be brave and simple and just stick with Violet? It's such a beautiful name on it's own and nothing here or that I can think of matches it

Fimbo · 18/01/2007 11:05

Violet Elizabeth (or is that too Just William?).

Violet Ava

TeeCee · 18/01/2007 11:07

My first thought was Violet Rose

From those suggestions already I alos like Violet Mae, Violet Belle.

Or how about Violet Eve??

suzycreamcheese · 18/01/2007 11:12

its nice on its own

Greensleeves · 18/01/2007 11:16

I like:

Violet Mary
Violet Gace
Violet Fleur
Violet Hope
Violet Alice
Violet Georgina
Violet Eloise
Violet Joy

Thanks for all your fab suggestions, please keep them coming. I'd prefer it if the mns were a little less commonplace than Grace, Ava and Rose - something not in the top 20 girls' names. Another relative is Emma. How about

Violet Emma or
Violet Emmeline? - very Victorian

I love Violet Eloise btw GS

mummylin2495 · 18/01/2007 11:51

how about violet ellen/ellie

bundle · 18/01/2007 11:51

i think you should stick to 1 syllable (she will have 7 already)

PrincessPeaHead · 18/01/2007 11:54

Anna

suzycreamcheese · 18/01/2007 11:55

temper?

its strong on its own

belgo · 18/01/2007 11:55

What about Penny as a second name rather than Penelope?

Violet Penny.

bakedpotato · 18/01/2007 12:08

Love Violet.

I disagree with the estimable bundle, I think you need two syllables or three for rhythm purposes. Mary, Sophie, Amelia?

Violet Amelia dum-diddy-dum, that sounds good. Yes, I'd go for 3 syllables.

tis hard without knowing your surname.

bundle · 18/01/2007 12:09
Hmm
3andnomore · 18/01/2007 12:10

I think Violet Rose sounds lovely
I think the mn should be short and sweet, as the first name is 3 syllabubs...
Violet Mae
Violet Ann
Violet Jade

bakedpotato · 18/01/2007 12:11

fightcha

frogs · 18/01/2007 12:11

I can't believe no-one has suggested Elizabeth.

bakedpotato · 18/01/2007 12:13

duh, amelia is 4 syllables

bundle · 18/01/2007 12:14

bp

my amelia came home from school the other day, counting syllables - she was shown how to put her hand under her chin to feel her jaw move and count away...newfangled teaching, mutter mutter, took me years to work out what a syllable was

persephonesnape · 18/01/2007 13:01

lovely name!

how about Fae or Ivy?

my daughter is a Tabitha, i think Tabitha Violet sits better than Violet Tabitha - but I'm probably biased.

Fae being short for Elphaba from gregory mc-thingies 'wicked' and ivy being nice and victorian. oh, Elsie?

nothing starting with a 'D' either

Woollymummy · 18/01/2007 21:34

Violet Eve or Violet Ivy, as she will get some more of the lovely letter V. And I really go for botanical names, so I reckon Violet is a good choice. I think she will be a beautiful girl, whatever you call her!
