JL - meant to pass this on - NCT Tower Hamlets [[email protected]]. The contact's name is Joy - she sent me lots of useful meetup links too (too scared to go to any though).

Still looking at the lovely cake. Even scoffing green&blacks 70% is not helping with the longing... out with the recipe!

Juicylucytoo · 19/01/2007 15:40

Bfb - Thanks for that. I signed onto the NCT site today, so I may get a reply from Joy anyway. I'll wait until I'm back on Tuesday to see if there is one and if not I'll contact her. Maybe we could go together (and actually speak this time? )

BefnalBub · 19/01/2007 15:51

Yes, lets! I'm booked into the April class in canary wharf. (think its two saturdays...DP NOT happy!). He thought it was to deal with the baby, not to help me give birth!

LupinsBigLump · 19/01/2007 16:03

Helllllllllllllllp, I am the most nervous person in the world re dentists - I would rather give birth, however my tooth has just cracked, atm it doesnt hurt, but if flimsy and im worried if it does break off completly it will hurt - can I be sedated?????? otherwise I dont know what im going to do, obviously not going to manage 4 more months of toothache, but am petrified, any advice pleaaaaaaaaaassssssseee

Frenchsmallfry · 19/01/2007 16:05

lg&t you are a star, spent all evening last nightlooking at double buggies. I like the Jane ones, my friend has the 3 wheeler and it is really nice to push.

BUT............ I LOVE that bebeconfort one, that has been my dilema all along because I really wanted a carrycot type (propper) one for this one but I know practically I need a double. That is fab, I did find one more that was a carrycot + toddler but it was side by side which I'm not soooo impressed with. Thanks for your research will try to find some prices on them now.

Juicylucytoo · 19/01/2007 16:06

Right, will maybe try for the same class. Depends when it is though. DH is only here 21/22 and 28/29, so I'll need to check.

Frenchsmallfry · 19/01/2007 16:08

I totaly sympathise Lupins, I'm sorry I can't helllllp. I hate them too, cry at a checkup (if you can get me there) I also have a sensitive tooth at the moment, not sure how long I'm going to be able to put off a visit.

We could arrange them for the same time, I'll hold your hand if you'll hold mine and big hugs!!!!!!!!

LupinsBigLump · 19/01/2007 16:11

FSF I havent been for over 10 years and then I was in so much pain my friend made me go, please come and hold my hand, I have just phoned a few and they are shut not that i can do anything until monday as I have dd with me - if only I were 38 weeks I could have csection under general and they could do my teeth while Im under - anyone got a time machine

Juicylucytoo · 19/01/2007 16:16

Lupins - go now before it gets worse. I don't know what they'll do in terms of pain relief, but the earlier it's dealt with the less damage will be done. Good luck.

SKYTVADDICT · 19/01/2007 16:23

Really feel for you Lupins. No advice though, sorry.

Going home soon for the weekend. Hope you all have a good one.

LupinsBigLump · 19/01/2007 16:30

Will try and manage on soup and codiene over the weekend and go on monday, flippin teeth, my mum paid private and had them all out - wish I had that sort of money, give me falsies lol

Frenchsmallfry · 19/01/2007 16:32

Have a nice weekend sky, we'll miss you.>

Lupins JL's right, use the weekend to get your head round it then be brave, brave and just go. xxx

Frenchsmallfry · 19/01/2007 16:34

I hate the weekend on here, you all have far more exciting things going on, usually just me and MKG and she's not on much at the moment. Maybe I should use it as a reason to do something, I have lots to do, honest, just don't want to do it all.

LupinsBigLump · 19/01/2007 16:35

Expect me typing with shaky hands, why oh why now, couldnt it have gone 5 months ago or in 4 months when i could be knocked out - I will look at it like pain practice for birth lol

Juicylucytoo · 19/01/2007 16:37

Really feel for you lupins.

Have a great weekend girls. Prey for sunshine (at least in Belgium )

I'll let you know on Tuesday how it was. xx

JellyBellyBump · 19/01/2007 16:37

Hello all, Thought I'd finally join after reading this site for ages but I've not had time to respond. And the speed you all post messages... well you have to be a professional to keep up.

So just a quick message to Lupins, I have a very nice dentist who managed to help me over my complete phobia. I used to start gagging the moment the chair lowered but now I even get through a root canal treatment without any problems. When I was TTC (and was late with period) I had to have another root canal done he told me that there are local anastectics that are OK to use during pregnancy. (but unfortunately he's not NHS)

LupinsBigLump · 19/01/2007 16:46

Juicylucy have a great time - hope weather is good for you look forward to hearing all about it

Jellybellybump - thanks - there are 2 around here that specialize in nervous patients, you are brave - hope i get a lovely dentist too

Just remembered my Thorntons are in the fridge - offering them round as I will be a soup person this weekend boo hoo

twelveyeargap · 19/01/2007 16:55

Wonder if any dentists here offer gas and air? I mean, that's what they use in the US for dental sedation, isn't it?

I would look for a dentist who specialises in nervous patients. There are some around and you don't need to live in the area of an NHS dentist. As long as they are accepting patients for treatment you shouldn't have a problem.

You can't have oral or IV sedation in pregnancy, but you can have local anaesthesia and they aren't allowed to offer you anything but the safe type when you are pregnant. They aren't allowed ot give you silver fillings for example, because of the mercury, but they can't charge you for a private white filling either. That's offered on the nhs when you're pregnant. Plus, don't forget that NHS dental treatment is cheaper in general when you're up the duff!

OP posts:
madeindevon · 19/01/2007 17:40

really? about the filings?
i just had 2 old fillings redone and had to pay for the white ones as not offered on NHS even tho im pregnant.

twelveyeargap · 19/01/2007 17:45

Ermm... I had white ones done on NHS when I was about 9 weeks. I had to pay, possibly a bit more than the amalgam, but it def wasn't as expensive as what I usually pay for white fillings. (I've had all amalgam replaced with white.)

Gosh, don't know if there's a set policy then. I just assumed as that's what the NHS dentist did. Umm..

Oh here it says you should have white when pregnant on NHS, except on back teeth as they don't think it's strong enough. My dentist did let me see, 2nd tooth from back (or 3rd if I had my wisdom teeth) with white on NHS.

Hello all and welcome jellybellybump

Isnt the internet a scary place. For the price of £3.75 I have found the addresses for ds1's paternal grandparents, his aunty, step aunty and even his dad (something CSA have always failed to do) I also found out the addresses of a couple of cousins i have lost touch with over the years and some male schoolfriends. I cant beleive how easily i found his dad, it has taken CSA nearly 8 years to find him yet it took me two minutes, how stupid is that. Not that i want to get in touch with his dad, as far as im concerned he is dead to us, he walked out when ds1 was 1yr old and a few months later chose his new girlfriend over his son, that was 8yrs ago and we have heard nothing since but at least i know where to find him if his parents arent forthcoming with the families medical history. For now my main priority is helping ds1 and if i have to get in touch with him then i will but fingers crossed it wont come to that and ds1's grandparents will be willing to help. So now all i have to do is work out what to write

My weekend away is booked. We are going on 2nd Feb, I cant wait. We arent going far, its only 20mins away but its a very posh hotel complete with golf courses and spa so while dh is having a round of golf i will be treating myself to their Mother to Be pamper package. Only problem is i now need a swimming costume that fits I have spotted a nice tankini so i may get that and i also want some nice tops/trousers for the evening. Luckily we got a good deal on the hotel, using MIL's clubcard deals and its only costing us £32.50 a night which is a saving of just over £100 so I have a bit of extra money to kit myself out. The room we have got is a deluxe one with two, yes two, double beds so if Dh gets on my nerves i can have a bed to myself

Does anyone else find that their bumps hurt (not badly its more annoying) when they get out of bed. Im not sure if its where the baby shifts into the one position while i sleep but when i get out of bed i have pains low down. They disappear after about 30mins and its only in the mornings so i know their nothing to worry about. It is just a horrible feeling

Anyway ds2 is begging me for a cup of tea so i'd best go and do him one.

twelveyeargap · 19/01/2007 18:05

Wow Pebblemum! That is really great work. Well done. Do you think if the grandparents wanted to resume contact, that you would be willing? Prob something to think about. I was wondering if they might have been too embarrassed about the situation to contact you.

I HAVE to go home. I know it's stupid, but I live that much further away, that I now dread my commute. It's under an hour, it could be SO much worse, but I sit here putting off leaving the office. Idiot.

I've been here since 6.40 this mornig.

Just been IMing DH with pics of buggies and his (older) male colleagues have been getting involved and talking about how the big three wheeled ones are "cool" and telling him why we should have one of those for jogging (!) (I have actually said we should get a cheap second hand jogging one as it will get feck all use anyway) and they suggested a bugaboo (!)because they're the best/ coolest etc. Errr... It's quite funny really, thinking of these over-50 yr old stockbrokers having opinions on pushchairs. Upside is that DH will now stop bugging me to buy cheap ones as his colleagues have now "qualified" some alternatives. Hahaha. This happened over other stuff before. I go on and on about something and DH disagrees and says I'm nagging and then a respected colleague says the same as me and suddenly I'm right after all.

Going, going, really going. Must go home. Booo. Trains. Tsk. Bye.

Ohhhh another newbie, tell us more Jellybellybump, and welcome to the madness.

Can't believe you found all that info so easily pebble. Just goes to show you how utterly CRAP the CSA are. Your break away sounds fab, Oh I'm jealous.

Just went to the dr's with dh, he had his stitches removed, very neat job I have to say, think the surgeon was a taylor in a previous life. Ewww it did make me wince as he tugged on them though. Dh didn't mind and he is allowed to drive again now, thank goodness!

It's raining in France JL hope it's better in belguim for you, have a fab time.
