I've had a stressful day. Staying 200 miles from home with sister & woke set 2am with severe abdominal pain. Was convinced I was miscarrying. Came into hospital & have seen 3 consultants & a senior surgeon & they can't figure out what's wrong. They thought appendicitis & were talking about operating but they're not so sure now as I have no fever or vomiting. Scans & blood tests show nothing. They're keeping me in to monitor which I'm pleased about. Baby appears to be fine thankfully but they're scanning him/her properly in the morning and I can't relax till then. I've been in pain for 20 hours now but honestly don't care as long as baby is okay. I lost my first baby & it's been so hard to be positive & relax with this one but now I'm 17 weeks I'd really got to the point of believing it would happen for me. Today's been such a shock. Trying to not get upset because baby is still kicking & moving but it's just bought memories of my mmc back. My mum is coming tomorrow as DP can't get away from work easily (& she's really good at knowing what to say so pleased she is). But wish he was here too. Need some mumsnet good vibes! Anyone ever had something similar happen to them?

Slumberparty · 09/06/2016 02:05

Thinking of you Devon. Baby seems OK so focus on that positive. Really hope it turns out not to be something serious x

Fedupithink · 09/06/2016 02:52

Thinking of you Devon hopefully you will get some positive news in the morning.

I'm wide awake, my hayfever is so bad I can barely see as my eyes are so swollen and sore and I keep rolling onto my back/right hand side and either worrying or getting pins and needles.

Have just woken my DH up in tears to tell him we need to swap sides of the bed tomorrow night so I can sleep on my left, this is after sobbing hysterically at Holby City earlier....feeling the preggo hormones today!

On a more positive note, had my midwife appt today and all is good plus we heard the little ones heartbeat. Asked about my missing screening results and 20wk appointment and got home to find both on the doormat dated 6th May! God knows what happened there!

BeedlesPineNeedles · 09/06/2016 06:31

devon hope you get some good news soon and they find out why you're in pain. Glad your mum is coming to look after you too.

CakeAndChocolate · 09/06/2016 08:35

How scary Devon I hope you get some answers soon, but for now just try to focus on the fact that baby is well.

AlbusPercival · 09/06/2016 08:59

Good luck Devon x

Bollyroo · 09/06/2016 09:58

How're you going now Devon? Really hope you're feeling better, you managed to get some sleep and everything is ok.

smellsofelderberries · 09/06/2016 12:48

Thinking of you Devon, hope you've had some good news this morning.

Ameilius · 09/06/2016 13:14

How worrying Devon, really hope you had an ok night and the scan went well this morning.

Found out that we're getting baby boy #2! and that the due date has been moved back to the 5th. Only problem now is names.. we only had one 'perfect' boys name last time, and I can't think of any other good ones!

Starting to get very excited now, and feeling confident enough to join the facebook group even!

Devon2000 · 09/06/2016 13:39

Thank you for all the good wishes was feeling so low last night. Just had scan & baby is completely okay. Best feeling ever! They can't find anything wrong with me either, no cysts or swelling or anything looking out of place and my pain has reduced so they're discharging me soon. Such a relief so so happy! Couldn't believe I'd have pain like that & something not be seriously wrong so feeling really lucky & grateful. Met lots of women on the ward with their newborns, it's made me so excited for November. Completely weirdly the women in next bed grew up in house opposite me. We'd not seen each other for 16 years or more. 200 miles from home I bump into someone I know!

Ameilius · 09/06/2016 14:22

What a coinicident Devon! So glad everything looks good with the baby! Weird about the pain, hope it was just one of those random pregnancy things.

smellsofelderberries · 09/06/2016 14:37

Hooray Devon! So so please all looks well, and how funny to run into your old neighbour so far from home! Hope the pain clears for good and you can carry on as normal.

tiredmumrighthere · 09/06/2016 14:45

Fab news Devon Smile

Congrats ameilius Flowers

coppergrey · 09/06/2016 16:06

Amazing news Devon, really pleased for you!

Also great news on the boy, Ameilius - we are totally the other way round in that we've had our boy name from the very beginning but the girl name has proved tricky! Think we're there now, though. Find out next Tuesday which one we'll be using!

Hope everyone is doing well - I've had a really lovely day, went into my studio for the first time in weeks so had lots of catch-ups with the other freelancers, then had a wander round town in the sun and bought 4 new bras at a cost of nearly £100!!!! But I'm so pleased as they fit so well and look lovely compared to my hideous, greying, too-small old ones. Hooray!

AlbusPercival · 09/06/2016 16:35

Found out I am having a boy.

Feel a bit weird about it to be honest.

I know girls. My siblings are all girls, as are most of my cousins. I am a brownie leader.

DH is very excited and making toy swords etc. He had also already picked out a boys name, which he is now using for the baby.

This is going to sound really weird, but it doesnt feel like my baby now, but DHs.

Sure I will get used to it, I have a wonderful nephew who I adore, but right now cant shake this weird feeling.

Fedupithink · 09/06/2016 17:33

Huge relief for you Devon so so pleased all is well and they are letting you go home.

Congratulations Amelius and Albus on the boy news!

I think I know how you feel Albus I keep referring to bump as a boy naturally so when we find out in a few weeks if it turns out to be a girl I think I'll feel like it's not my baby!

Did you have a strong feeling baby was a girl?

coppergrey · 09/06/2016 17:55

My friend is pregnant at the moment and all she knows is girls - she has sisters and loads of aunts and female friends, but very few men around her. She said if it's a boy she'll be really unsure of how to handle it. I think your feelings are totally normal, Albus - it might take a while to adjust and bond but you'll get there.

needanewjob · 09/06/2016 18:23

Cath Kidston have a sale on! I've officially bought little mans first babygro! It's a super cute one with little London soldiers all over it. They had tons of boys and girls stuff so if you are thinking of buying and like a bit of Cath I'd recommend a little look see!

CakeLady456 · 09/06/2016 18:49

Hi all! Mind if I join the thread?? Due on 16th November with my first so mainly nervous and confused!!!

CakeLady456 · 09/06/2016 18:51

Is the secret Facebook group still running??

smellsofelderberries · 09/06/2016 19:30

OMG I just saw my little one roll over!! There was a lump just above my pubic bone and then it rolled up about 5 cms towards my belly button and then sank! Shock weirdest thing ever!

smellsofelderberries · 09/06/2016 19:44

Awe Albus, you'll get there. Just give yourself space to feel how you need to for the moment Flowers

Congratulations Amelius!!

CakeAndChocolate · 09/06/2016 19:57

Albus I'm feeling similar about my girl news. I think the benefit to finding out early is that we've got time to get our heads around it. I'm just trying to let myself feel how I feel and not beat myself up about it. Of course this baby is loved and wanted and the fact it is healthy is the priority, by it doesn't make feelings around sex any less complicated.

Hi Cakelady congratulations. Yes the FB group is still going, you need to PM fuzzyowl with the email address you use to sign into Facebook and she will add you.

CakeAndChocolate · 09/06/2016 19:58

smells that's crazy!

AlbusPercival · 09/06/2016 20:25

Thanks All. Can't say anything to DH so goid to have somewhere to talk.

My subconscious is madly gender stereotyping about football etc. Which is stupid as DH isn't interested and DNephew is a Disney princess fsnatic
