Congrats cake another girl Smile

17 weeks today and had my 16w midwife app today, strong heartbeat all looks great! Feeling quite good which is really surprising!!

I've had that pain too, it's on my right side.
Had it in my last pregnancy to and it turned out to be sciatica Confused my pelvis is killing today so I guess I'm getting spd in this pregnancy too Sad (not happy about that!)

Feel for all you hay fever sufferers, must be awful.

Got such a busy week this week, my son has his stitches out on Wednesday and Thursday I've got to pack for 6 people as we're off Friday to Norfolk until the Monday, I can't wait to get away so I don't have to do any housework for a few days if nothing else Smile

coppergrey · 06/06/2016 21:48

Thanks tired, I did think sciatica as the pain sometimes radiates down my leg which is a sign. Will definitely go get it checked out. Congrats on the appointment!

tiredmumrighthere · 06/06/2016 22:03

Yeah get it checked out copper, mine goes down my leg too it sometimes feels like my leg gives way as I'm walking so I look like I'm gonna fall, it's horrid x

Spottyladybird · 06/06/2016 22:36

I had some awful back pain last week. Usually when I'd been overdoing it but the hormone relaxin is also high at this point which means everything is moving and stretching and can cause pain.

Hay fever horrendous here too. I've been using Prevalin nasal spray which was recommended by s pharmacist but doesn't help much.

Bollyroo · 07/06/2016 08:57

Ooh, I just bought an exercise ball and it's brilliant! So nice just to sit on and gently roll from side to side. I didn't realise how tense my back was feeling. Highly recommend.

smellsofelderberries · 07/06/2016 17:18

Crikey, this relaxin is no joke! I carried a bag of groceries around for about an hour yesterday (cloth bag so over my shoulder) and my shoulder on that side and all down my back is killing me today Sad it's giving me a cracking headache. Need to get the hot pack on it.

AyeAmarok · 07/06/2016 18:52

Hi everyone, good to see you're all still doing OK!

Had my midwife appointment today, got to hear the baby's heartbeat which was good, and she checked urine and blood pressure etc all still OK. Not much chat about anything other than that, but DP and I are heading up to the north of Scotland tomorrow to stay with his family until Sunday so good to get that reassurance before we go!

Another hay fever sufferer here! My goodness sneezing is hurting my lower stomach muscles Shock

bobcat85 · 07/06/2016 18:53

DuckWaddle I'll be 31 weeks when I take maternity leave but taking 2 weeks holiday before so will be leaving at 29 weeks, can't wait. I don't think I'm going back either due to the commute.
4 hours is a really long commute even without being pregnant. Hope you manage to get it all sorted :)

Sorry to hear a few people are suffering from hayfever, hope you all get some relief soon.

coppergrey · 07/06/2016 19:51

I'm self-employed and work from home so think I'll work up to 37ish weeks then maybe have a bit of time off. It's quite hard to predict how you'll feel by then, though... feel for anyone who has to declare their maternity leave now!

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 07/06/2016 20:01

Last time I planned to work to 39.5 wks (secondary teacher) but by about 35 decided this wasn't the greatest idea I'd ever had, and ent at 37.5. This time my mat leave is due to begin at 38+1 but the week before is half term so will actually have my last day 10 days earlier. And this time the timetable has been done with my pregnancy in mind so will be doing lots of intervention, data and admin stuff and less teaching, whereas last time I was teaching a full timetable as I onlygot my bfp over the summer hols!

JadeT2 · 07/06/2016 20:50

I'm working until around 34-35 weeks. I'm a restaurant manager and already struggling with running/standing around for 8-10 hours a night. There's no way I will be able to stay until the end unfortunately.

tapismagique · 07/06/2016 21:31

I'm planning to keep working until the due date, is that crazy? Reasons i think i can do it: I think it will be overdue (all babies in my family have been 10-14 days later), my job is mostly sedentary and my commute is a 15-minute walk

Spottyladybird · 07/06/2016 21:54

Planning to work to 37 weeks this time. Last time I worked until 35, then was two weeks late so was bored! We'll see, might want to stop earlier.

Jamjar12 · 08/06/2016 00:06

Same here Littlegrey. I've planned a normal timetable for myself but we are looking for my maternity cover to start at the beginning of the September term so I'll just be overseeing everything and getting everything ready before I leave. I'm a bit nervous about handing over my beloved department to my relatively new (and quite inexperienced) staff but when I think about having a baby, that's definitely where my priority lies!

My school has a 2 week half term in October so I'll be having my last day at school at 35+5 but maternity leave will officially start at 38 weeks. A lot of my teacher friends have had to take early maternity leave though as they struggled towards the end. Hoping if I don't have a proper timetable, I'll be able to manage!

I'm 16+2 today and literally filling out these maternity dresses no problem. My bump is very round and probably more suitable for about 26 weeks at this point!!

duxb · 08/06/2016 07:08

Hi all. I'm on the December thread as baby due back end of November but has been pulled forward to the 26th. 15+4 today and just after some advice as you guys are further on. I had a MMC in January so have been very anxious this time round. Al was fine at 12wk scan and have had 1 X consultant appt where my blood pressure had gone from high to normal which was great news. First tri was horrid - constant naseau and physically sick most days, boobs incredibly sore etc. At around 13.5 weeks I was thrilled to feel better but now I feel that much better I'm concerned.

Boobs aren't sore at all, I feel less bloated and apart from a sharp, shooting pin from my lady bits right up the centre of my belly button there is absolutely nothing to suggest I'm pregnant. I'm slightly overweight and my "bump" has moved some excess weight up and above my pubic bone to my belly button is very firm. No pain, no blood etc but I'm finding myself irrationally anxious.

Midwife on Monday for my 16wk appt and will raise this then but was wondering if any of you had gone through the same thing or of this is actually something to worry about?

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 08/06/2016 08:05

jamjar12 they didn't cover my mat leave last time, just did it within the dept, and are doing the same this time (hence my minimal tt - plus with me needing brain surgery next year too there wasn't much point giving ne much if they could help it!). I think someone is coming back from 3 years long term sick part time in Sept which ous how they're managing!

Ameilius · 08/06/2016 09:07

I'm kind of starting maternity leave in two weeeks! Shock It's the end of term and since we're moving I'm moving jobs.. I'll still technically be employed until the beginning of August and then I have a month of no job and no maternity pay, until I start maternity pay some time in september. I feel very wierd to be finished so early. Last time I went back to work part time at 4mths (and shared leave with DH). I'm not quite sure if I'm looking forward to all the time off or not.. I loved being back to work part time this year and really needed it as I found the early days at home with a baby very tough.

duxb I think stabby pains are normal and as you enter the second trimester I think most people start to feel better and less bloated - yay! Would mention it to your midwife but it sounds very normal.

coppergrey · 08/06/2016 09:25

duxb your symptoms sound pretty much like mine were at 13/14w - no nausea but lots of niggling, shooting pains and aches. Boobs were sore on and off and bump was kind of there but not really.

Now at 16w I have a proper, round bump, no belly pains but loads of back ache, my tiredness is back and I keep getting headaches! Joy.

I wouldn't worry at all but if it would help, contact your midwife and maybe go in for a check up. It's a long time to wait between 12w and the 16w midwife appointment and then the 20w scan! Flowers

coppergrey · 08/06/2016 09:55

I'm on my way to London today for back to back meetings, excitedly wearing my Baby on Board badge!

Its best use so far is the free access to train station toilets. I've saved 60p today already!

DuckWaddle · 08/06/2016 10:16

Coppergrey- access to toilets!! I didn't know this!

coppergrey · 08/06/2016 10:37

Duck Yes! You have to catch an attendant but both times they've just opened the gate for me and I swanned straight in!

smellsofelderberries · 08/06/2016 11:02

duxb, I also get lots of shooting pains. I had lots of cramps from 14-16 weeks too and ended up at the EPU twice to be checked out (everything was fine). My sore boobs come and go too. I also had a MMC in Jan so know exactly how you feel- it's so worrying. I would call your midwife and have a chat about the shooting pains, they might offer to have you come up and checked out for peace of mind.

(I have only in the past few days started to get a bump, at 17+4. Before that I was just bloated and could suck my bump in Grin)

Thurlow · 08/06/2016 11:54

Free toilet access? Really? That's the best news I've heard in ages Grin

Am working from home today, enjoying the glorious sunshine. If only my company would wake up and realise that all their staff would be so much happier if we were able to do this more regularly.

Of course, the downside is the reason why I am working from home, which is more root canal work - urk, this sucks in pregnancy. Luckily the dentist has decided that she's done as much as she dares without an x-ray and there is no infection, just decay, so she's packed the teeth full and given me decent temporary fillings that will last until November, when I can take plenty of painkillers to get through it all!

needanewjob · 08/06/2016 16:52

I'm another school staffer! My mat leave starts on 1st Sep at the moment but we break up on 15th July so I guess other than a couple of days at the end of Summer I'll be finishing in five and a bit weeks! It seems crazy but does mean I get all Summer with my DS so I'm not complaining at all!

duxb · 08/06/2016 18:41

Thankyou ladies. Feel better knowing it isn't totally alien to feel okay (and totally in limbo!) X
