littlegrey I am so pleased that the surgeon was positive and that it is safe for the pregnancy to continue. It must be a weight off your mind. I think your attitude to the future is amazing and you are right, research will have changed so much by then, who knows what will be possible.

Thurlow I am most definitely NOT buying anything. I'll wait until at least 34 weeks I think. I didn't buy anything for my DS until 35 weeks (and even then it was only a cuddly toy, the big stuff came at 36 weeks) but this time round I have the essentials anyway so I don't think there would be much to buy in any event.

Copper really hope the website isn't some sort of scam, maybe report to your bank just in case?

needanewjob · 01/06/2016 10:54

Littlegrey oh I'm pleased it's as positive as it can be at this stage. What a weight off your mind!

I've not been sleeping well this week. I keep waking up at dawn then I struggle to get back off. Not great as I'm off with my little man for half term so I need to be energetic

LadyFarnborough · 01/06/2016 10:57

Thurlow, I'm not buying anything yet. My mum has bought a couple of little bits like sleep suits and muslins though. Big purchases can wait, ideally til after 20 week scan at the earliest. Feel too uneasy buying too much just yet plus also don't have the space to store it.

Ameilius · 01/06/2016 11:17

Littlegrey, so happy that it went well! What amazing progress they've made over the last few years. Hope you can relax and start enjoying things again.

Thurlow I'm not buying anything yet. Partly because of moving but mostly because I found the last few weeks so tedious last time I'll want distraction when I'm 30+ weeks!

I think we're leaning towards the Bugaboo Donkey too, we'll need a double and it seems like the smallest one with ok sized seats (I make giant babies). I love the fact that it converts down to a single too. I'm not a fan of big buggies either, we have a babyzen yoyo for traveling/the UK and it's amazing! They work from birth so if anyone's looking for a really small buggy and they live in a city I would really recomend look at them.

Ameilius · 01/06/2016 11:23

Also the Isabella Oliver summer sale is now on - SALE! Smile

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 01/06/2016 11:30

We're not really buying anything for this baby at any point tbh. I'm leaving the nursery exactly as it is with everything in it and just shipping DD out To the spare room so will need to get her new stuff and redo that room! So just a double buggy and new mattress and we're done. Even all the newborn clothes are unisex and donated by a friend following her little boy so no problems just reusing them! Poor, unloved second baby...

tiredmumrighthere · 01/06/2016 11:30

House stinks of onions! Think this baby might be an ogre Grin

Well it's my scan day today!!!!! Toooooooo excited but have a long wait as appointment isn't until 6pm Shock so going swimwear shopping with my 3 daughters and meeting other half after work! Pink or blue...I wonder Smile

Thurlow · 01/06/2016 11:48

Got a feeling, tired?

tiredmumrighthere · 01/06/2016 12:22

Thurlow-I'm thinking boy because my cravings are savoury this time and with my son it was the same, with all my daughters it's been sweet things, plus I feel different this time then I did with my little one Smile

Ameilius · 01/06/2016 12:37

little mine will also be a poor, unloved second baby, I'm really happy to be getting more use of muslins and things I would have been tempted to buy new again if we'd left it a few years! Even if it's a girl she'll be wearing rather blue clothes and playing with 'boys' toys (shocking I know!) Grin

tired oo I wonder if it'll be true about the cravings - I've totally gone off chocolate and am all about potatoes and salt.

Thurlow · 01/06/2016 12:37

Isn't funny how you get feelings? I knew DD was a girl right from the word go. This time around I'm going to be very surprised if it's a girl, I'm just feeling "boy" right now and everyone - me, DP, our families - just find ourselves saying "him" all the time.

Good luck killing time until your scan!

Ameilius · 01/06/2016 13:03

Thurlow I knew DS was a girl, I was so shocked I cried when I found out! It wasn't that I was disappointed, just very, very surprised! Blush This time I'm pretty sure boy again but I've been I lot less sick so am thinking that might mean girl..?!

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 01/06/2016 14:41

Just back from midwife. Heard a nice strong heartbeat. Sounded very different to DD's (even DH noticed) and going by old wives tales (girls are like galloping horses and boys are like trains) this one's a boy as it was properly train like and DD was properly galloping horse like!!

MumOnACornishFarm · 01/06/2016 15:26

I've had a 17 week appointment with my amazing midwife today (should gave gone last week) and also heard a lovely strong heartbeat. Best sound in the world, until the first time your little one giggles IMO. She kept losing the heartbeat though, so she thinks this one is a wriggler Smile

Beelzebubble · 01/06/2016 15:27

Littlegrey I'm soooooo pleased for you! You're incredibly brave and strong x

I bought so cot sheets and muslin squares. Just cos they were on sale! I won't get anything big yet. I'd love to but I'm still a nervous wreck :)

FuzzyOwl · 01/06/2016 15:58

I would ring your bank Copper to be on the safe side and Perfect Prep machines do come up in baby events at a discounted rate. I got one for DD and still use it now; it is one of my top purchases and I highly recommend it.

On my shopping list, there is: a double pram, new car, car seat and sorting out a bedroom for DD so this baby can have the nursery. I think we have pretty much everything else we need although if we use bottles, we will get new teats for them.

Hi all! Saying hello from Greece this afternoon, managed to get some wifi so of course spent an hour catching up!

Fab news on all the positive appointments, heartbeats and scans over the last week and a huge sigh of relief for you Littlegrey

I bought two baby grows after the twelve week scan but nothing else, and it's my first so we need everything!

I was planning to wait until 30 weeks but a friend of mine gave birth yesterday at 31+2 Shock so thinking perhaps I'll start after 20 weeks so I'm prepared just in case. Baby is doing ok but in NICU and mum and dad are just in shock by all accounts.

Thurlow · 01/06/2016 16:08

Actually it's at £70 at John Lewis, which isn't bad at all.

DuckWaddle · 01/06/2016 18:41

I've got lots of stuff from my first but things have moved on! Does anyone have experience of the sleep pad things (can't recall name!).

tiredmumrighthere · 01/06/2016 23:29

So scan went really well today apart from the cord was in the way and a little hand lol baby is looking great and it's a little girl for us Smile got to see her in 4d as well, and listen to a lovely strong heartbeat, the pics I've attached are my favourites, a little wave and a pointy finger lol, she's an awkward one Grin she didn't want us to know the sex

Lovely news and pictures tiredmum.

Thanks Fuzzy it's lovely here, the heat is a bit too intense sometimes which the midwife warned me about due to the extra blood. I've popped too and now officially have a little bump at all times at 16+4

Congratulations Tiredmum! Is this your 5th girl?

DuckWaddle · 02/06/2016 07:15

Hi Fuzzy- yes, the sleepyhead ones. They're so expensive but I've heard rave reviews and if it means we get better sleep it would be worth it!!

Woody096 · 02/06/2016 07:54

Hi ladies

Just got back from the US, caught up with the thread! Thanks for book recommendations & pleased to hear all the positive scans & results.

I am 18+1 today, some people don't think I am showing at all & someone else yesterday asked if I was expecting twins! 🙈
I have booked in to go to a local Mamas & papas event, anyone been to one of these?xx

Ameilius · 02/06/2016 08:13

Congrations tired! Fifth girl?! Wow! Grin Have you started to think about names?

duck we had a sleepyhead and I loved it so much! It's hard to know if DS would have been a 'bad' sleeper without is as we used it right from the beginning, but he did/does sleep well.. We didn't have a Moses basket or anything like that so he napped/over nightered in it all the time and used it up to about 7mths. The other thing we brought based on all the great reviews was a Ewan the Sheep and he never took to that so that was a waste..
