Glad to hear someone else is going for cold water sterilising!

Spottyladybird · 31/05/2016 17:21

I started looking at breast pumps today. I fed DD until she was 2y 10m but she never took a bottle. Determined to not have that happen again so will pump a bottle a day from 5 weeks ish.

CakeAndChocolate · 31/05/2016 19:52

Thurlow I was googling the perfect prep about a week ago and you can buy brand new online for £55 from one retailer at the moment (not one I've heard of but wouldn't have thought it matters). You can also buy used on eBay for £40ish. If it were me I would get the new one and sell it on once finished, you should recover almost all the cost. I'll see if I can find the link again.

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 31/05/2016 22:05

You spend one day at the hospital and come back to pages!
Well, my neurosurgeon appointment went as well as I could have expected.
The tumour is a grade 2 tumour. The consultant wants to remove it as soon as is safe. He therefore wants to wait until the baby is born, give me a bit of recovery time, and attempt to to remove the whole thing in the new year. He seems confident that he can and I won't need any other treatment at this stage. The bad news is that this WILL return at some stage, and it will be worse. The prognosis is unlikely to be so positive next time. But we'll deal with that when it happens, and I'll be monitored so it won't be allowed to develop much before treatment.
so the best news is that the pregnancy odd safe and viable and going ahead with a view to a natural and spontaneous labour and birth, with the only proviso being that I can't push for more than 30 mins! And by the time it comes back it'll be years down the line, and research etc will have come so far that they'll fix me I reckon (always look on the bright side!). Plus, 16 w midwife appt tomorrow. Really hoping I hear that heartbeat!

Now to read back and work out what the hell I've missed today!

FuzzyOwl · 31/05/2016 22:09

That does sound really positive LittleGrey and I think you are right about research moving forward so when (if) it does come back, the prognoses and treatment will probably be very different to today. I am also really glad your pregnancy can continue and of how confident the consultant was about removal and no further treatment; it's also reassuring that you will be closely monitored.

Thanks fuzzy. He said 5 years ago my prognosis would have been 3-4 years but it's changed so much in this short time period that we're now looking at 20+ so it's amazing really!

tiredmumrighthere · 31/05/2016 22:18

That's great little x

Devon2000 · 31/05/2016 22:22

I've just got a cot so far which I got from freecycle complete with very new mattress. The people we collected it from said their little boy didn't take to it so went straight into a child's bed so it's not really been used. I asked some friends what I should get & they've said I should hang on as people buy you lots. There's a second hand baby sale at the weekend though & I'm tempted to get a few bits. I've heard good things about Euan the sheep. I hadn't thought about a convertible buggy but I'd hope to try for #2 almost immediately so that makes sense. We were going to get a 2nd hand one but we want one that has an attachable car seat & we've been told to buy that new unless we know the seller & so that makes it a bit more complicated. It's a bit overwhelming trying to do the research & work out what you get without spending a fortune.

Devon2000 · 31/05/2016 22:27

That's great news littlegrey. your family must be really relieved to hear that.

JadeT2 · 31/05/2016 22:48

So glad to hear the good news Littlegrey :)

This is our first so have to buy a travel system and pretty much everything else unfortunately. I don't think we'll have a small gap between babies so will just buy another pram for the next - best see how this one goes first though!

Bollyroo · 31/05/2016 22:50

LittleGrey, that is good news. What a relief that there's a pregnancy safe plan.

smellsofelderberries · 31/05/2016 23:23

So glad things went well LittleGrey, that must be a weight off.

Slumberparty · 01/06/2016 03:34

That's pretty positive news in the circumstances Little. Been thinking about you x

BeedlesPineNeedles · 01/06/2016 06:33

That's wonderful news Little I'm so pleased that it won't affect the pregnancy. You must be so relieved, very scary that it will come back but who knows what advances they will have made in that time.

smells I could just go and see my mw and get her to do a quick scan, but after worrying constantly through the first trimester its kind of OK not knowing. I feel I would be tempting fate if we went for an extra scan now but at the same time its reasurring to know that I can get a scan if I want one.

ameilius have fun with the UK shopping :o and I hope you get somewhere to live sorted soon.

I got some nice linen trousers from mamalicious yesterday, underbump so hopefully not too warm and very long for anyone with long legs (I'll need to turn them up!) Despite them being called "Black Iris" they seem to be a very dark navy not black which is fine but I might have been disappointed if I had wanted Black!

DuckWaddle · 01/06/2016 07:58

Little grey-- I can't believe how much you've had to deal with and process over the last couple of moths. I'm pleased you felt relatively positive after your appointment and I hope you get some time now to think about fun pregnancy things xx

LadyFarnborough · 01/06/2016 09:10

Great news LittleGrey. You must be very relieved.

Can't believe how organised some of you lot are. We've had a little look at prams but not reached any decisions and am sticking my head in the sand about everything so far.

coppergrey · 01/06/2016 09:35

Amazing news, LittleGrey. So glad it's a positive outcome for you and your pregnancy.

I just tried to buy the Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep via that Mini UK Mart link up-thread and it declined my card twice... but without any processing, just an immediate decline. Now worried I've been scammed, although I can't find any info about the site on Google!

Just a warning if anyone else is attempting to buy!

tiredmumrighthere · 01/06/2016 09:41

Anyone have weird cravings? I'm currently frying onions right now Confused my thing atm is fried onions in a bap with burger sauce Confused

Thurlow · 01/06/2016 09:56

That's wonderful news for your pregnancy, Little, and I am in awe of how positive you are being (not that you shouldn't be - consultants don't piss around, so if he says it can wait and that research is coming on leaps and bounds, then he means it). So pleased your pregnancy looks like it can continue healthily and you get to try for a natural birth Flowers

Thurlow · 01/06/2016 09:57

Oh god, now I want fried onions - a hotdog, actually, with fried onions and ketchup...

Is anyone else not buying anything yet? I've got plans for stuff but I don't feel confident buying anything until 30+ weeks, I don't think.

mrsdane · 01/06/2016 10:06

Thurlow I'm the same. I know the pram I want, and cot/changing table etc, but don't want to buy anything for a good while yet.

AlbusPercival · 01/06/2016 10:08

Oh Thurlow yes! A hotdog!!

I haven't eaten properly for weeks, now wondering if I can go source hotdogs at lunch time!

coppergrey · 01/06/2016 10:12

The Tommee Tippee machine would've been my first purchase but maybe the internet shopping gods are telling me to hold off and calm down a bit! I haven't bought anything else; will probably wait till after the 20w scan.

I do have a huge spreadsheet of everything I need (provided by my lovely friend who is very organised) and I've started adding links to the things I've chosen.

coppergrey · 01/06/2016 10:12

Also, I could really go in for a hotdog right now. Specifically, an Ikea one.
