Good lock today little Smile

Welcome Devon Smile

Hope everyone had a lovely bank holiday weekend!

I'm currently 16+1 today and haven't got my mw app until next Monday because yesterday being a bank holiday and she's only at the surgery on Mondays Hmm

But I have got my gender scan tomorrow which I'm soooooo excited about Grin

Smells-I forgot we were due date buddies!

So happy that all my first trimester symptoms have disappeared, although I'm still struggling to brush my teeth because it makes me gag which then causes me to be sick Sad other than that the nausea and lack of energy has disappeared! I feel like a new woman GrinGrinGrin

BeedlesPineNeedles · 31/05/2016 11:24

Where I am its no appointments between 12 and 20 weeks even for first-timers. My mw booked my 20 week scan before I'd had the 12 week one Shock And considering my 12 week scan was the 5th one I'd had, no Contact with anyone is a bit scary. Just waiting to feel the 1st movements.

Thurlow · 31/05/2016 11:47

Right. I am getting so royally fucked off with still feeling sick.

I don't care that it's better than it was with DD. I don't care that it's better than it was six weeks ago. I'm even losing the will to care that I'm nowhere near suffering as much as lots of other women. I'm just so pissed off with it. I'm nearly 19 weeks, can I please just have one day where I don't throw up?

Angry

Self-indulgent rant, sorry, but I'm just so bored and fucked off with it now.

Thurlow · 31/05/2016 11:48

Plus the bloody Braxton Hicks have already started Angry

tiredmumrighthere · 31/05/2016 11:53

Ohh thurlow- you poor thing Sad I felt like that before mine went, it makes you so miserable, have you asked doctor for anti sickness tablets? I was about to make an app and mine just vanished so didn't need them, but it might be worth you taking them

Thurlow · 31/05/2016 12:13

I'm on anti-sickness tablets! Sob... Wink The thing is, I'm sure with DD it went in the early 20w's so fingers crossed it will be soon but it's just so bloody boring, isn't it? Like yesterday, I had a lovely morning out with a delicious lunch in a cafe and then out of the blue, threw the whole lot back up again.

Bored, bored, bored.

Ameilius · 31/05/2016 12:17

Poor you Thurlow Sad, I guess the only thing to say is that you're almost half way there! It feels bad to admit it, but I do not enjoy be pregnant at all! I just don't feel like myself and hate throwing up and being nausous the whole time, I just feel like the worst version of me and have no energy to do anything.. but only 22wks to go!

We get Zalando Beedles but ASOS still charge for returns (and take about 2wks to arrive!). We're back in the UK in 3wks so I'll hit the shops or pre-order some dresses and stuff there.

Yay tired! Good luck! What do you think it is? Any ideas? I can't wait to find out in a couple of weeks!

I'm getting very stressed out, We're moving house in 3wks but at the moment have nowhere to move to! We know which city we'll be in (and thankful have a nursery place for DS) but no house and no job! Shock Still waiting to hear back about a couple of jobs for DH but otherwise we'll be living off my maternity pay (luckily I get full pay for quite a while) until we sort something out. I really want to move and am so happy we're moving to a city I love but I'm so scared we won't be able to get a flat in time!

bobcat85 · 31/05/2016 12:46

Hello everyone, been quite busy so haven't had a chance to pop in for a while but have a week off this week. Hope everyone is good, haven't had a chance to catch up on everything that's been going on.

Hope your appointment goes well LittleGrey and sorry you're feeling so poorly Thurlow. Hope it gets better for you soon.

Went out to buy some maternity clothes today as I'm starting to get a little bit bumpy (16 weeks today). I kind of felt like I'm going to jinx it but really needed some pregnancy appropriate clothing. They have a few nice bits in New Look if anyone is looking for maternity wear, picked up a nice top and some jeans.

We've got our gender scan on Thursday and really excited about that. Tomorrow going out with MIL and SIL to look at baby bits, not buying yet just looking as I have no idea these things cost.

tiredmumrighthere · 31/05/2016 12:50

Thurlow-oh that's not good, I've never had the tablets with previous pregnancies so don't have an opinion on them but I did have the bands and found they worked! It's awful and I do pity you, especially when you have a child to look after! Fingers and toes crossed it disappears soon Smile

Ameilius-thank you,I'm hoping a healthy boy! I actually feel loads different this time round, my last 2 were girls and I just feel "normal" this time instead of feeling big and pregnant and sicky, I don't really feel pregnant so hoping that's a sign for a boy Smile plus that would mean this would be my last if it were a boy!

I got some more maternity clothes out of h&m at the weekend there so comfy and fit so good Smile I'm not massive so probably don't need to wear them just yet, but there so comfy and atm it's all about comfort lol

smellsofelderberries · 31/05/2016 13:00

Oh no Ameilius! That sounds very stressful. Fingers crossed everything falls into place for you soon.

Sorry you're feeling rubbish still Thurlow, hopefully it'll let up soon.

Beedles could you book in for an extra private scan? It is such a long time to wait, a bit too long I think.

Just had my midwife appointment which was fine, no HB check though. She said she would have to put a time limit on trying to find it and considering I heard it on Friday I decided not to worry because I knew I would be really stressed if she couldn't find it. Tempted to book in for a private gender scan but also don't think I will!

Anyone else having occasional shooting fanny pains? They feel quite high up internally and midwife said they were normal and a lot of women ask about them, so that's reassuring, just wondering.

I won the cot on eBay! So hopefully we'll go collect it at the weekend. I'm so excited! Wondering what to do with the mattresses that come with it though as we will buy new ones- any recommendations? Can charity shops sell them? Very pleased with it as I got it for £100 instead of the £700 it retails for Shock

Thurlow · 31/05/2016 13:02

I'm just being very self-pitying and whining today but thank you for the sympathy. Must hoik my socks up and remember it's really not that bad. Aemelius, you're so right about feeling like a rubbish version of yourself. I'm not firing on all cylinders at work, I'm not being the best mum to DD and I'm definitely not being the best partner to DP sex, what's that again? Wink. It'd be nice to be back to enjoying normal life again.

Has anyone found out they are having a girl yet? I feel like it's a raft of boys so far. Been chatting about names in the office with my colleagues, we have a lovely list of terrible/out there names with which to try and convince DP I'm really taken, just for the fun of it. Gustav or Wyatt, anyone?

Thurlow · 31/05/2016 13:03

Ameilius, everything crossed that it falls into place for you. Do you have any viewings set up yet? Are you moving in with friends/family at first?

coppergrey · 31/05/2016 13:30

Smells what cot did you go for? I am bamboozled by cots... I love the Stokke Sleepi Bed (www.stokke.com/GBR/en-gb/nursery/stokke-sleepi/1045.html) but my GOD it's expensive. And I want a Joolz pram which is also very expensive. I think I need to rein myself in a bit!

Thurlow, so sorry you're still feeling rubbish. Fingers crossed it lifts as you get closer to that 20w goal!

My friend gave birth earlier this year and told me it's not standard practice to listen to the HB at 16w in our area. So we'll be booking our gender scan for the end of next week to get a good look at the little bean!

Ameilius · 31/05/2016 13:31

We're on the waiting list for student family accomodation as if we don't get a job DH will be studying and finishing off a second degree which will make him more employable.. We'll be in the UK and with MIL over the summer so are fine until August I just don't like feeling like I'm in limbo! I need to relax.. it'll all work itsself out!

Well done with the crib smells - what a bargin! We've not bought anything yet.. I found the sheer amount of different products and 'must haves' so over whelming last time that we only bought the basics. This time it doesn't look like we'll have a proper nursery either so I think I'll be hitting Ikea for the cot and that'll be it! I'm trying (unsuccesfully so far) to be minimalistic..

I'm feeling boy too - at the ultrasounds we've had they've seen signs of both but I think second boy! Nearly everyone I know in RL seems to be having boys at the moment too - where are all the girls?!

Thurlow we may be boring and not great partners/mothers at the moment but think how much energy we'll have once the babies are here! Last time I was just so happy not to be nausous that I didn't really mind the night time wake ups.

Ameilius · 31/05/2016 13:43

copper I love all the Stokke stuff - that cot is gorgeous! But it'll all so expensive! That said I bought a very cheap pram last time and it didn't really hold up that well and was very heavy to push so I think sometimes spending a little more can be worth it.

Thurlow · 31/05/2016 13:47

Ameilius, we had to move during my pg - we were thinking of moving anyway, but then our rented flat was sold out from beneath us so that forced our hand and we wanted to buy somewhere, not rent again. We couldn't rush buying so we ended up spending about weeks 22-32 living in friends spare rooms! But it all worked out absolutely fine, even if it was stressful, and we found the perfect house. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly for you too.

Slumberparty · 31/05/2016 13:53

Devon I have had my 16 week midwife appointment. I got to hear the heartbeat and had a little scan! I'm not in the UK though and essentially am paying for midwife appointments so they are pretty good and I'm not rushed through at all.
I can't wait to find out the sex at 20 weeks. I'm thinking girl 😊

Spottyladybird · 31/05/2016 14:16

Yep we made the mistake of a cheap pram last time. Didn't last well and was uncomfortable on journeys. Splashing out a little bit this time although parents are helping too. Been in to John Kewis today for a push!

Spottyladybird · 31/05/2016 14:16

Lewis* not Kewis!

tiredmumrighthere · 31/05/2016 14:34

I got the silver cross wayfarer with my youngest 2 years ago, she only used it for 11months then I got fed up and wanted a stroller! You can change the colour pack, I had the purple with my daughter so I'll just get the Beige colour this time! There £100 a lot cheaper than giving hundreds for a new pram

smellsofelderberries · 31/05/2016 14:47

Copper we actually bought the Stokke Sleepi! It's coming as the mini with the single extension for that price. A few nicks here and there but for £100 I can deal. Seriously, check eBay. I also wanted the walnut which aren't as common as the beech stain so if you're happy with that then keep an eye out, there are loads. You can also find non-Stokke brand mattresses/sheets on Amazon which are a little cheaper.

I feel you on the prams. We're going straight for a Bugaboo Donkey. So expensive but they're absolutely fab and figured it'll save on buying a double when #2 comes along. I've worked for so many families when they've had baby #2 and all of them have said they wish they'd bought a single that converts to a double for the first as otherwise you just end up buying two buggies and it ends up being just as expensive/more expensive than just buying a really nice convertible one the first go round!

Ameilius we won't be buying too much more TBH. We're going to be moving to a little 2 bed flat and imagine we will get lots of gifts when baby comes along, in terms of toys etc, so I'm not going to worry about too much. I am keeping my eye out for an antique chest of draws in eBay and we will use a foam changing mat on top of that instead of a change table, I hate nappy bins so won't get that, won't have room for a glider so won't get that. Basically our only big purchases are going to be the buggy, the cot and the chest of draws!

I keep looking at some gorgeous Oscha baby wraps bit think I should wait until the scan to buy anything else (they're quite expensive so even though it's a physically small item, it's kind of a 'big' purchase too!)

coppergrey · 31/05/2016 15:06

Oh man, smells you sounds just like me - antique chest of drawers, no nappy bins, no glider, pricy pram... I'm going to stalk eBay right now!

JadeT2 · 31/05/2016 16:03

We've just put the deposit down on the mamas and papas Urbo 2 travel system. It's a lot narrower and lighter than most which was moat important for us - I'm not a fan of larger wheeled buggies I'm afraid!

We've also just bought the to tommee tippee steriliser essentials kit as it's £65 at the moment! I think that will be it for a bit
17 weeks today :)

Thurlow · 31/05/2016 16:18

We started to compile a list of what we need the other day, mainly to work out how much we can beg, steal and borrow from friends Blush So much of DD's stuff we either shared with other people or sent back to charity as it was only from charity shops in the first place

Moses basket/crib - have a moses basket, already have DD's old cot, and have bought a lovely rocking crib from a friend for a bargain £10. Still have most of DD's blankets, swaddle wraps and sleeping bags.

Pushchair - I'm probably just going to buy the carrycot attachment to go on our Maclaren Techno XLR; we never used a pram for long with DD and moved to the pushchair at 3m, so I'm not going to spend money on a new one. I might put a shout out on Facebook nearer my due date to see if anyone is getting rid of a pram or travel system but I'm not bothered.

Sling - again, have several friends whose babies will have outgrown theirs by then, so we will buy off them (tbh, most of our friends don't even want money so we will buy presents for the DC)

Car seat - coming from a friend, as we know they've had no crashes

Bottles/steriliser - we do need to buy new bottles, but this time around I'm going to go for a cold water Milton bucket as I found the steam steriliser a bit of a faff in the long term. But I am definitely buying a PerfectPrep machine, as I know I will be bottle feeding - I think that's is probably our biggest expenditure.

Which leaves... clothes, I think? And only then if it's a boy, if it's a girl we have all DD's clothes.

tiredmumrighthere · 31/05/2016 16:36

Ahh thurlow your sorted then!

Only thing I kept from my daughter was her pram and cot Confused I've got to buy all clothes again!

Selling pages on fb are good for clothes ect as you can see who there coming from (if your fussy like me) lol

Cold water steriliser for me too as I used one for my first 3 and had no problem, with my youngest I used a Tommy tippee steam steriliser and she got awful colic and I swear it was the steriliser, because I changed it to a Milton cold water one and she was fine after that!

Once I know what we're getting I'll start buying bits x
