Oh Almond, poor you! Hope your day has picked up.

Albus glad DH was sufficiently horrified Grin

Called the midwife about the niggles I've been having so they asked me to come up. They've booked me in for another scan just to reassure me (I was like, 'I'm really not fussed! If you're busy then it's fine!') but the nurse was insistent so should be in at 2.20. Really worried I'm going to end up with HYPOCHONDRIAC stamped across my file as this will be scan #5 on the NHS (including the 12 week scan). Am very ready to be done with the EPAU and graduate to the other unit in 3 weeks if I'm having problems.

Thurlow · 20/05/2016 13:52

That's really good they've given you an appointment so quickly, smells, I hope everything is fine.

coppergrey · 20/05/2016 13:55

Really hope it goes well, smells, as I'm sure it will. Don't even worry for a second about being overly-cautious! The reassurance will be totally worth the (very slight) embarrassment.

Great feedback on the maternity clothing - I'm going to look at Topshop's offering now, I love normal Topshop jeans so hopefully we'll find a winner!

My 'normal' style is very similar to yours Elle - I love simple colours and fabrics and almost all my wardrobe is black, white, navy and grey! I actually have a few oversized pieces from & Other Stories that I think will still work, so might be an idea to look there for well-cut dresses/tops/etc and just size up a bit.

FuzzyOwl · 20/05/2016 13:56

Great news copper.

Hope the scan gives you lots of reassurance smells.

He's fine, as I know he would be! Just stretching pains. Think I need to invest in some proper maternity jeans as I'm noticing more discomfort when wearing something right across my abdomen. They also said from 15 weeks onwards they use the doppler (14+6 today so had to have a scan instead Grin) which I'm hoping means I'll get to listen to his heartbeat again at my 16 week check.

smellsofelderberries · 20/05/2016 14:12

Very lucky Thurlow, my hospital has been nothing but absolutely amazing! St Thomas's in London, first rate service. Their EPU is actually a walk-in and have always been seen within an hour or two.

coppergrey · 20/05/2016 14:12

Great news, smells! Go buy some stretchy pants to celebrate. I've got mine on, they're so comfy :)

Fedupithink · 20/05/2016 14:15

Good luck for your scan Smells I'm sure all will be fine tho.

Thanks for the maternity clothes tips, I'm keeping the bump bands I ordered so they should give me a fair while over unbuttoned jeans and my normal tops. Then when I get a proper bump i think I'll do some bulk ordering to figure out sizes and maybe try and work on getting a solid capsule wardrobe together.

How is everyone else doing on the bump front? I'm still at the flat stomach but little ridge under the belly button in the morning but huge bloat by late afternoon.

This was me last night trying on yet another dress which has gone back with the bloat!

Fab news Smells do you now know he's a he?!

FuzzyOwl · 20/05/2016 14:18

Lovely news smells.

Fedup I have a bulge in the morning, look undeniably pregnant by afternoon and am starting to be uncomfortably big by the evening.

smellsofelderberries · 20/05/2016 14:46

Ohh Fab that's not too far off my bump! That's when I let it all hang out, can still suck it in but it's getting uncomfortable! I don't, no, but I don't like calling him an 'it' and I feel like he's a he so that's what we're saying for now Smile

Thurlow · 20/05/2016 15:51

That's great, smells. It's so hard not to worry at all the niggles and whinges though, isn't it?

By the evening I look about 6 months gone Blush

mrsdane · 20/05/2016 16:53

Fedup your bump is so much more impressive than mine! I find normal clothes really uncomfortable. I am LOVING J Crew maternity trousers for work at the moment though, they are a lifesaver.

I'm off to Topshop after work to check out the maternity jeans - looks like they're the only brand that do maternity jeans for tall women. My inside leg is 34" so normal jeans just look daft on me. Need to have a good trawl through asos.com too. On the & Other Stories front, I find COS clothes are typically very generous around the stomach anyway, so I'm planning on wearing lots of boxy/drapey tops and dresses throughout the summer.

Anyone finding sickness has gone off but feeling phenomenally tired all the time? It hadn't hit me in quite the same way until now (15 weeks today). Cannot wait until the weekend when I can sleeeeeeep

AlbusPercival · 20/05/2016 17:33

I am 17+2 and don't have a bump at all.

At 8 weeks I finally got down into size 18 jeans.

I just look very far, and this week had to buy size 22 jeans :(

Jamjar12 · 20/05/2016 17:47

Thanks for all the maternity clothes talk, I've made a few notes and going shopping this weekend!
Got our scan letter, Downs is 1 in 12,500 and Tri 13/18 is less than 1 in 20,000. I can't make sense of anything online. It says low risk so I'm happy with that!

Fedupithink · 20/05/2016 18:08

Mrsdane I wish that was bump, sadly that's all bloat! When the morning comes there is nothing there and in back to a flat stomach! I should be grateful I guess - don't think I'll have one of those for a while when bump does appear!

needanewjob · 20/05/2016 20:25

Takeaway curry tonight! Seriously I need to get back to eating something not fried!! Ran a cake sale today at my school in memory of my daughter and we raised £700 which will go to our hospital fund for the critical care unit where she was cared for. I'm pleased but emotional as inevitably all I wish is that we weren't in the position where this is the most we can do for her... My son was great though and really got involved with the day despite only being in reception

pitterpatterrain · 21/05/2016 06:33

Hello all haven't been around for a while, feeling so wiped out and emotional at the moment. Anyone else finding work completely exhausting?

I still haven't really told anyone more senior at work as we have reviews coming up and as one of our management team has already said that during pregnancy he doesn't understand why workload adjustments etc would be made so I feel a bit under pressure to keep it all spinning.

Will be going back to read the work clothes tips Wink

Fedupithink · 21/05/2016 07:51

15 weeks today!

Just read on my app that I should have gained 2.2-4.5kg so far...I'm still 2kgs down on my pre-pregnancy weight, I haven't gained an ounce. Anyone else?

I'm sure it's fine as I did have a bit to lose beforehand anyway but it surprised me as this was the first time weight gain had really been mentioned.

ElleSarcasmo · 21/05/2016 08:31

Almond I am around 5ft6 and the purple dress is below knee on me. The printed dress is a little shorter. We are moving today but will try to get DH to take a picture so you have an idea, hopefully it won't put you off too much!

Fedup lots of the Jojo Maman stuff is quite plain. Isabella Oliver also have some nice stuff-I've just ordered a couple of smart dresses that were on sale. They are quite expensive. Seraphina also have some nice things but I've only seen them on line.

Thanks Thurlow, I will have a look at Dorothy Perkins.

Spottyladybird · 21/05/2016 09:56

Fedup I've put on 5lb (2.2kg) but I'd put that down to two weeks off work!

FuzzyOwl · 21/05/2016 10:01

I've only put on 2lb but this time last pregnancy I was still below what I weighted when I got pregnant. In total last time I put on exactly 2.5 stone and I expect it will be around the same this time.

OP posts:
Fedupithink · 21/05/2016 10:01

Thanks Spotty must be the nausea/sickness/lack of appetite. I'm sure it'll start piling on soon.

I've got my private scan tomorrow at 11, bit nervous but excited to see the little one again. Fingers crossed all is well and I can skip off on holiday with no worries.

AyeAmarok · 21/05/2016 10:10

How much are private scans, roughly?

I don't think I can wait another 6 weeks to make sure everything is still OK, it's just too long away.

Fedupithink · 21/05/2016 10:33

Mine is £59 via Ultrasound Direct/Baby Bond. They are different prices depending on how far gone you are and the type of scan you want. Mine is just the basic 15 minute quick-assure which checks heartbeat and baby's wellbeing plus the placenta.
