Yeah I'd read that too! I'm fully expecting a big baby anyway so it didn't come as much of a surprise, thank you

strandedabroad · 19/05/2016 15:44

I'm sure she would have said if she was too big :-) I guess these are just averages and might also depend on the shape of your bump and/or your body and not be very reliable in terms of baby size? I mean, surely our measurements will all be a little different also based on our build and whether our bumps are quite pointy or more spread out to the sides? I don't think it's an exact science, this tape measure thing!

I hope you're enjoying mat leave!!

Christinedonna · 19/05/2016 15:45

She asked my partners height and said its probably due to the fact we're both tall

PickleBot · 19/05/2016 16:16

Tbh I have never heard any predictions before birth about size and weight that were right! I've heard of people told they had huge headed babies and they were normal and predictions of 10lb monsters that were more like 7lb when they arrived.

plimsolls · 19/05/2016 16:51

I agree with pickle. I think also that there's not much of a relationship between bump size and baby size but I can't remember if I 'know' that or have just assumed it from anecdotal stuff.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 19/05/2016 16:52

Pelvic pain here too Erica - yours sounds awful though, you poor thing! Mine was pretty bad last week but seems to have eased up a bit recently, thank god - I'm trying not to twist my pelvis so much (I'm terrible for sitting with my knees up sideways, etc and have noticed that makes it much worse) and doing my pelvic floors and it seems to be under control for now. V v painful when it hits though, feels like I've been kicked in the vag!
Alfie no packers for us, DH has a big van for work so we've been moving stuff out over the last few weeks and there's not much left! Shouldn't be too bad, we can do most of the packing up this weekend so DH can do all the hard work Grin
Owl yes, you've invoked sod's law there - definitely a boy! You've had one of each haven't you - how does this pg compare to the girl vs the boy??
Christine 29cm is fine - the measurement should correlate to the number of weeks, + or - 3cm - so for 28 weeks 25cm-31cm would be considered normal. It's good that she's head down, first babies tend to get into birth position earlier than subsequent ones as the womb muscles are crap with 2nd+ babies so they have more space to spin about! Just had a look in my notes and at my growth scan at 25+4, this baby was estimated at 2lbs bang on - so if yours is huge, mine is huger Shock it's just a guess though, don't set too much stock by it! Sounds like you're getting on great and little miss is behaving just as she should Smile

Christinedonna · 19/05/2016 16:55

It's funny how baby's always on my right, she asked what side I sleep on and it's my right so apparently that's the reason. Gravity has pulled her there and she doesn't switch!😂 Uh I'm just ready to be done being pregnant, everything's pointing towards her being early so I'm happy

ToElleWithIt · 19/05/2016 17:08

Christine just don't get too wedded to the idea of going early or sod's law you be 41+3 going out of your mind!

I wouldn't put any store by estimated weights at all. Midwife told me under 7lbs based on bump when I was booking in and consultant estimated 7lbs based on baby's abdomen seen on scan a week earlier. DS was bang on due date and 8lb 13. You'd be better off reading tea leaves!

Back pain ramping up here. Yuk. I'm off to Croatia next week and looking forward to chilling. We're taking a villa with my family so there will be plenty of people willing to entertain DS so I should get a bit of a rest too.

bearhuggy · 19/05/2016 17:53

how lovely elle hope you have a fab holiday and some sunshine :)

coco glad your pelvic pain has eased a little...did you try the tennis ball massage trick?? Honestly has helped me so much I can't believe I didn't try it earlier !

christine sounds like your measurements are all looking great and hope your baby doesn't keep you waiting too much over due date as seems you have been having a bit of a time of it. Hopefully maternity leave is helping and you are feeling a bit better??

Just been to home sense and stocked up on muslin's, blankets and a gorgeous sheepskin for the pram...such good value there !!

Christinedonna · 19/05/2016 18:13

Getting there! Acid reflux and my back are still killing me but not having to worry about work is a big load off!

Christinedonna · 19/05/2016 20:04

Does anyone else find that they watch a film or read a book and they're so easily like "I love that name!" I saw wicked not long ago and now love the name "elphaba"

Fizzyboo · 19/05/2016 20:29

First consultant appt today, she was def having a good look at babes heart, you could see her getting her learning on, she was quite fascinated. Anyway I got a cheeky free 4d scan so, as we've not had many scan pics in a while, here's mine from today @ 28+5

That's so cool fizzy!

OwlinaTree · 19/05/2016 22:29

Coco there are more similarities with the girl, such as less additional hair (!), eating sweets and apricots, v spotty to start with. But it's hard to say really!

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 20/05/2016 08:22

owl at my 28 week the heartbeat was 142 and I'm having a girl! It must be exciting to not know - sometimes I still wish I had kept it a surprise.

Christinedonna · 20/05/2016 18:03

My little girl is always around 140-145 too alfie. When she was being monitored at the hospital she was ranging from 140-160 though! To anyone that hasn't found out the sex, have you read old wives tales and got a good idea what you think you're having? Or just leaving it as a surprise. All the old wives tales were right for me!

plimsolls · 20/05/2016 18:13

All and none of the old wives tales apply to me. I mean, I have an equal number of "signs of a girl" and "signs of a boy".

I have no idea what I'm having.

Last heart rate (25 weeks) was 133bpm. Theu didn't tell me at 20 week scan. 12 week scan was 160bpm.

I always refer to [what's in the bump] as a 'he' accidentally (like "ouch, he's just kicked me"\ "he's a bit quiet today" etc) but whenever I picture life as a parent, it's with a daughter.

I keep having dreams where I give birth and it's a boy and in my dream I'm disappointed. That sucks. I don't want Dream Me to influence my preferences!

plimsolls · 20/05/2016 18:15

Oh Christine's post has reminded me that heart rate went up to 145 during appointment. It was in response to something I think but I can't remember what (being prodded probably).

Christinedonna · 20/05/2016 18:24

Plimsolls that's exactly the same as me! I always referred to it as him, he etc. Yet I could only ever visual a girl despite the fact that in all my dreams I had a boy! I was convinced it was a boy but then when I really thought about it I felt like "well because I really think it's a boy I know it will be a girl" which meant that whatever they told me in the scan I would have been like "I knew it!" What have you found name picking to be easier for? We were dead set on a boys name and couldn't think of a girls and sure enough i had to scrap my boys name and am still stuck for a girls

MrsSantaClause · 20/05/2016 18:48

I've been reading the old wives tales, I seem to have all the symptoms for a girl and a boy Confused have had the heart rate measured twice now though and first time was 146 and second was 140, so maybe a girl.

Christinedonna · 20/05/2016 18:49

Does anyone have any advice for good places to get hold of maternity nighties? I'm so hot at night and don't want to wear bottoms!

Slothlikesundays · 20/05/2016 19:26

Hi am I too late to join in? 27 weeks and due on the 17th of August. Not found out what we're having. Actually starting to feel pregnant now!

Christinedonna · 20/05/2016 20:42

Welcome sloth! I'm going to enjoy calling someone sloth.
50% off sale on F&F website right now everyone, just got loads of cute little clothes for next to nothing!

bexh83 · 20/05/2016 20:50

Christine well done for finishing work - it will give you relief and you'll be more relaxed for coming weeks all great for baby. Wierdly I also bought chic shadow to go with mustard yellow or lime green (dont know what we are having!) its lovely.

Thank you all for the NCT class thought - I REALLY enjoyed it, realised ive never seen a new-born it was interested to see how many things are completely normal (hair on prem babies, cold hand and feet etc, etc) nice to hear so many people about as clued up as I am.

28 weeks for me too today Christine & Stranded . Im just shy of 28cm, half way between my 50th & 90th percentiles, babys still low and in the pelvis.

Wasnt asked about a birth plan and forgot - was just giggling at my baby kicking at the doppler everytime the MW tries to use it - couldnt actually hear a heartbeat but fairly certain he/she is fine and doesnt like being proded.

Welcome to newly joins!!

Slothlikesundays · 20/05/2016 21:07

Haha thanks. Name like nature at the moment... Well technically I have decided I am a sloth-whale! How much stuff has everyone bought yet? Got my pram and cot and that's it Confused.
Did everyone have fundal height measured at 25 week appointment? So far I have only had bp and urine checked at my midwives, next appointment isn't until I'm 30 weeks which is stressing me out a bit as a first time mum.
