Hello
Can I join please, I am due ds2 on August 15th but likely to have a section so will be earlier than that!
My son is 2.2 years so I'm feeling pretty nervous about bringing a baby into the mix but thrilled I am having another boy!
I'm suffering really bad spd which I got last time too but not till late on in the pregnancy so it's a bit depressing that I have it so early this time as I am really struggling to do simple tasks like working and walking short distances Sad am booked into physio soon so hopefully it will help!
I haven't read the full thread yet...
Is anyone else's memory shot to pieces? I was due a lucozade test this week just gone and totally forgot, I forget everything at the minute even though it's written in my diary Confused

Christinedonna · 20/05/2016 21:28

You should have a 28 week appointment sloth they forgot mine too, just give them a ring and double check as they'll probably book you in for another one before. And we've brought everything now apart from the cot. Had it picked out for months but there was no point buying it until our room was finished being decorated. That's 2 weeks away now so may order it tomorrow so it will be here in time

OwlinaTree · 20/05/2016 21:32

Hiisthere welcome. You will have the same age gap as me! I'm hoping the smallish gap will mean they will be closer but who knows!?

Fizzyboo · 20/05/2016 21:49

Thanks owl, the 4d ones are a bit weird but cool though eh? Like a rough plasticine version! Still so glad they gave me a cheeky peek!

Welcome to the new folks Smile

bexh83 · 20/05/2016 21:53

hi sloth & Isthere! We've not bought a pram or car seat yet, but bought on ebay and been given a few bits of baby furniture. Have bought far too many clothes, wipes, nappies, products etc. in various baby events. Im driving OH mad with hording.

Christinedonna · 20/05/2016 21:53

Just set a test for the OH. I'm upstairs boiling away while he's downstairs eating strawberries. Text him saying I might go to Tesco to get ice lollies. Awaiting him to prove to me why I'm keeping him and him offer to go for me

Lou2711 · 20/05/2016 22:02

Sloth I ordered my pushchair today!!! I was going to wait but mamas and papas had it half price. All I need now is a car seat (thinking a graco milestones one, anyone had any exp with these?) and to order the nursery furniture. I don't think I've forgotten anything but I probably have somewhereHmm. My DD has soooo many clothes I'm not sure if I will have chance to put her in everything!!

Isthereeverarightime1 · 20/05/2016 22:13

Hi Owl
Were you on the antenatal thread for your first? I recognise your username!
I hope this age gap will be close, it's daunting at the minute wondering how I will cope with a toddler and newborn but I know it will be worth it!
Mine will be sharing a room and we have only just got sleep issues sorted with ds so that makes me nervous!

Isthereeverarightime1 · 20/05/2016 22:16

Hi bex I remember with my first I went shopping with my mum and literally brought everything at once and brought it home and dp was Shock then I had to find places for everything lol
I have started buying the formula milk starter kits to stock up so i have a good supply when baby comes home!
Need to stock wipes and nappies too I didn't do that before and wished I had!

OwlinaTree · 20/05/2016 22:30

Yes isthere the Martians threads? I was there!

Longtimelistener · 20/05/2016 22:46

I have to confess I lurked for ages on the Martians thread but never joined Blush.

Welcome Sloth and Isthere

Isthereeverarightime1 · 21/05/2016 06:19

Yes I remember you from there then Grin
Hi long - so you dc is the same sort of age as ours now too?

MrsZumbaDancer · 21/05/2016 07:08

Hi to all the new people joining, isthere same due date as me Smile

Anyone else suffering from round ligament pain? I had it at about 7 weeks (didn't think it struck so early but midwife thought that's what it was) and it's just started again. I was fairly active pre pregnancy and have still tried to keep active this time but even waking 10 minutes hurts like hell sometimes!

Haven't bought one thing for new dc Shock should really start! Having the debate between converting my icandy into a double, buying a baby jogger double or not bothering! DS walks loads do it would only be on full family days out that I need a double.. Or I could sling new baby so wouldn't need it

Isthereeverarightime1 · 21/05/2016 07:40

Hi Mrs Smile great date!
I have brought only bits and pieces my mum is buying my buggy I brought the car seat but no clothes yet! I am going for a single buggy as I am dropping the buggy use so that ds will be used to walking more but I will buy a buggy board if need be!

I have spd is that the same as the ligament pain?? It's awful so I sympathise with u, it's crippling! I am really struggling to do much, even food shopping is a massive task. I feel bad for my ds as I can't do a lot of activities with him Sad

AlfieTheRailwayCat · 21/05/2016 08:48

mrszumba I haven't bought anything yet either really and it's my first so don't have things to reuse. I'm waiting until we finish decorating so that I have somewhere to put it all. Which iCandy do you have? I've been looking at the apple - would you recommend them?

Longtimelistener · 21/05/2016 10:01

isthere yes, DS birthday is end of March, so it sounds like all three are around the same age.

We haven't bought anything at all yet. We're in the middle of moving house (currently in limbo at my mum's, having sold ours last week and hoping to complete on our purchase in the next couple of weeks), so agreed it wasn't worth buying anything until we'd moved. Don't think we were expecting it all to take so long though - we don't have masses to buy, but I reckon we're in for a busy last few weeks before the baby is born!

Sleep issues also worrying me. We finally got DS self settling and then sleeping through just before we sold the house, but that's all gone to pot now that we're at my mum's. Had a horrendous day on Thursday, just couldn't stop crying. I think I finally realised that we weren't going to get him settled again before the baby was born, so I'm going to have to somehow manage two of them at nights at the same time Sad

Having said all that he did sleep through last night, so perhaps I should wait and see how the next couple of nights go before I slip completely into despair!

Isthereeverarightime1 · 21/05/2016 11:19

Moving is a massive task even more so when ur pregnant so I feel for you although one thing I learnt from my last pg was that you can buy anything online and have it delivered next day or go to a 24 hour Tesco so if you haven't got something you need it doesn't take long to get it so I am much more relaxed about buying baby bits this time!
We are decorating our sons room now so I am not living at home either so I can sympathise!
We had terrible trouble with ds at nights, up until about 6 weeks ago he would sleep in our bed which was tiring, then we started sleep training and he has (fingers crossed) for the hang of settling and staying in his bed. The first night away from home it took me an hour of putting him back to bed before he would settle but thankfully he has got back on track again but it's been really hard work so I really worry about the baby disturbing him!
What sleep issues are you having? Does your dc have trouble sleeping alone?
Have you got much decorating to do in new house or can you just move in?

Isthereeverarightime1 · 21/05/2016 11:19

Flowers and Chocolate for crying though, sometimes it's good to get it all out!!

bearhuggy · 21/05/2016 11:51

Welcome to all the new joiners, nice to 'meet' you!

Looking for some advice on nappies...what brand is best for a newborn and does anyone have experience of cloth reusable nappies? I think we talked about re-usable a while back on the thread, but would love some more input from any second time mums as I feel a bit lost with all the different brands and types!! I have been looking at the Bambino Mio Miosolo All-In-One Nappy range ...

Was planning on getting a good supply of disposables from newborn to get started with, and then transitioning to re-usable once feeling comfortable.

Thanks!

Biscuitswithtea · 21/05/2016 13:15

Bear it's worth seeing if your local authority runs a nappy trial scheme. Ours did and we were given half a dozen different types to try for a couple of weeks so we were able to feel confident about which to kit ourselves out with. Equally, asking around friends might allow you to create a trial of lots of different types! We used reusable nappies (by day) with ds for about a year and settled on Bumgenius nappies. The thing we discovered was that some nappies (both reusable and to a lesser extent disposable) fitted ds better than others simply because of his shape. So for example, Little Lamb nappies, which friends had raved about, leaked quickly on ds.

We weren't awake/organised enough for reusable nappies until ds was c8wks old. And at night we wanted nappies not to be the thing that woke him so kept with disposables (Naty until size 3, then Pampers baby dry thereafter). Hope that helps a bit :)

LotsofDots · 21/05/2016 14:55

The people in this thread should be able to answer your reusable question bear we used reusable from a couple of weeks old with both of our others and are planning to do the same again. We have mainly bumgenius nappies, with some tots bots.

OwlinaTree · 21/05/2016 20:22

We use tots bots, they are easy to use.

MrsZumbaDancer · 21/05/2016 20:32

alfie loved my icandy, have a peach 2. It's worth looking at the specs online to see the differences then trying them. I initially thought I wanted a strawberry but after 2 hours trying them all decided on Peach. Steers like a dream even with a heavy toddler, big basket and easy fold (2 piece). Can convert to double too with adaptors.

plimsolls · 21/05/2016 20:46

OH is v keen on reusable nappies and has had the Little Lambs ones recommended by his friend. That's a good tip biscuits that not all shapes fit all babies. We won't go overboard with the Little Lambs until we know they're right.

I hadn't really thought about reusable vs disposable at all until OH brought it up but when I saw how soft and fleecy reusable bamboo nappies were, I was sold.... Love the idea of all that softness next to little baby bottoms!

bearhuggy · 21/05/2016 22:58

Will check out that thread as a starting point...perfect sat night bedtime reading, what has my life become !!! Hmm
