It's beautiful weather here in Manchester too today but I'm coping ok I'm always cold so do ok in the heat even heavily pregnant. Thankfully no swelling yet

ILovePies · 09/05/2016 09:53

I'm too hot as well dolly really struggling today! The heat is making me feel sick and I'm feel lethargic. Want to stay in all day but DS has pre school this afternoon so got to go out :(

MadrigalElectromotive · 09/05/2016 09:58

I'm too hot too! Had to take my wedding ring off last night because I am a bit swollen. I think it probably won't go on again until I'm not pregnant any more.

Really hoping it is a bit cooler than this next week when I go in for my c section - they seem to keep the heating on in the maternity unit whatever the weather is doing outside! Hmm

dollydaydream84 · 09/05/2016 10:08

Julie I didn't know a thing last time and much preferred that to knowing now! :D Ignorance is bliss! Its weird because it was total pain relief (i.e. dead from the waist down as you say!) but still felt a pressure, wasn't painful at all.

ILovePies I made the mistake of walking DD to pre-school today as it was such a nice day. Nice day = even hotter = will be going in the car at lunchtime :D

Madrigal when I went into labour in the depths of winter with DD I sat by the open window in my nightie and was still roasting. DH who is usually like a radiator says he has never been as cold in his life and the midwife would put her coat on to come into our room. I am dreading it being hot for this one! I find all hospitals to be hot no matter what season!

AmIseeingRight · 09/05/2016 10:08

Morning all and welcome Julie

Gosh! cant believe how quick the time has flown. I used to think my EDD was years away now I know that my little man will be here in 3 weeks or less as Doc said if bloods remain normal he will let me go to 40 weeks but not beyond that. so in 3 week the 2 of us will become 3, its just sinking in for us Grin.

off to the hospital for monitoring and I'm praying for things to be all normal as I really want to have at least another week as thats when my mum arrives, so anytime after that will be fine with me.

Also feeling the HEAT!! but glad that it should be cooler today

JulieBolton79 · 09/05/2016 10:33

Sounds like I'm lucky with the heat I hate being hot it's exhausting.
I've been suffering with SPD but that's my only complaint so far, except the fact that any movement I make is a strategic operation!
Dolly I think you're right ignorance is bliss sometimes Smile
Hello amiseeingitright, I felt first trimester dragged but it's gone very fast since not long to go!

MollieRos · 09/05/2016 11:28

Too hot here too in Lancashire! Not often I can say that Grin

I'm just waiting for the health visitor to come round- the appointment letter said "around 11", which is lovely and vague! Our house is a complete state at the moment, we only finished the building work at the end of last week so there's still no carpet, and a new layer of plaster dust seems to settle onto everything as soon as I've wiped it clean. So I hope she doesn't think badly of our housekeeping! It's funny because as part of my job I work quite closely with the health visitors, but it feels very different being on this end of things!

AmI fingers crossed the monitoring shows everything is normal and you get to hang on for at least another week!

Eastend2015 · 09/05/2016 11:31

So hot!!!

Baby measuring 5lb4 at scan today, which is bang on average for 34 weeks but sounds huge!! Waiting to see the consultant now and hoping to negotiate out of consultant led care so I can use the lovely birth centre. Fingers x'd! Pic attached, you can only see the eyes and eyebrows as the umbilical cord is in front of his/ her face Grin

strawberrypenguin · 09/05/2016 11:58

Good scan news eastend hope the consultant chat goes well.

Hot here too although the for cast says rain his evening so I'm hoping that might cool things off a bit - I hate being hot.

laughingGnomette · 09/05/2016 12:17

Hi Julie, they can reduce the strength of the epidural so that you can feel contractions. I had one where I could be mobile and move around, but 'top up' the pain relief at the push of a button when I wanted (bliss!). As always though, a lot of this is down to the individual hospital so it's worth discussing with your mw. DS wasn't sleepy and breast fed well right from the start (I also had friends who had no pain relief but issues with breast feeding) so it's not completely cut and dry.

I've also had to take my ring off due to swelling. The thought of the hospital having to cut it off panicked me a bit!

Fingers crossed for you Eastend!

I still think this baby is breech. He has been moving around a bit though so there is some space inside :) so I'll just keep doing my exercises to get him to spin and hope for the best.

JulieBolton79 · 09/05/2016 12:38

Good size east hopefully you'll be released back to MW care soon.
It's lovely and warm here strawberry but not pregnant lady friendly lol.
Laughing I hope my hospital does mobile epidurals too as that sounds like the best of both worlds and you get to stay in control.
It's good that you managed to bf straight away I think it's dependant on the baby then rather than just drugs or no drugs.
Hopefully your little one will turn too, great that they are still active. I've still got a very active baby and it catches my breath sometimes when he/she moves. Oh forgot to mention I don't know the sex, DH said it'd be a nice surprise but I'm miffed now as there's only so many neutral clothes you can buy! Probably for the best anyway as loads of people have told me they had too many clothes so it's probably saving me cash Smile

dollydaydream84 · 09/05/2016 13:05

Julie My mum kept telling me with DD1 not to buy too much neutral as I'd be desperate to get him/her into a colour when they arrived. She was right. We have bought one new neutral suit this time and leaving the rest for when he/she arrives. We also very generously were bought tons of clothes last time so barely bought a thing until 9-12!

Eastend2015 · 09/05/2016 13:27

Released from consultant led care but the consultant wants us to see the head midwife just to check there are no issues on their side. Brilliant NHS bureaucracy, sigh

JulieBolton79 · 09/05/2016 13:43

Dolly I think your mum is right! I've said to DH as soon as I'm up to it after the birth I want to shop Grin I was reading this thread last night and realised in my ignorance 0-3 is different to newborn! I'll have to check which I got lol. I've got a few babygros and hats and mittens but not too many.
East not completely to plan but still a step in the right direction! You'll have to work on the Head MW for you to get access to your birthing centre unless this is ok now you're no longer consultant led?

bikingintherain · 09/05/2016 16:01

Good news eastend, I hope the appointment with the midwife goes well.

Eastend2015 · 09/05/2016 16:07

Thanks Julie, it should be fine, they are two sides of the same hospital floor and seeing as my midwife and the consultant are supportive I'm hoping everything will be easy!!

Eastend2015 · 09/05/2016 16:07

And thanks biking!

strawberrypenguin · 09/05/2016 16:12

That's good news eastend if consultant is fine then hopefully midwife will be too.

Got my hair cut this afternoon so that's one maternity leave job ticked off!

PoppetPants · 09/05/2016 16:27

As mean as it sounds I am glad I am not the only one struggling with the heat, as soon as I get too warm my hands and feet swell right up and I feel sick.

Sounds like a few of you are in the final throes with planned interventions soon, good luck to you :) While I don't want any complications I'd be very happy to get this little munchkin out now!

nehagarg · 09/05/2016 16:39

Wow, this thread has gotten super busy Smile ...

Great news Eastend ... I am sure the midwife will be fine, if the consultant is happy.

AmI ... Really hope your bloods remain normal and you make it to 40. Mine were doing brilliantly until last week. Are you on Urso?

Sorry I have been away. Trying to get all the final things sorted before I go to hospital tomorrow and bring home a tiny human!

The freezer is stocked with at least a week worth of food. Hospital bag has been re-packed. Today was my last day so work and I have said Adios. House has been cleaned. Kitchen cupboards have been cleaned and re-organised.Phew! Its been a busy weekend.

Just got told by Mother in Law that the baby's first outfit needs to be something old according to their tradition. On the other hand my mum's tradition in Iran says that she buys baby's first outfit and it needs to be new ... Trying to figure out how to get around this one Hmm Confused

And I am hot too!!! Luckily, its beginning to drizzle a bit here. Loving it. Smile

JulieBolton79 · 09/05/2016 17:02

Maybe a combo of new and old Nehagarg?one item each?
Sounds like you are ready to bring home your tiny new human, how exciting.
East sounds like you've hit a good medical team and fingers crossed everything stays on track.
Poppet I'm the same I want to have baby as soon as feasible but obviously not at the expense of some much needed extra cooking!
Strawberry I was planning on dyeing my hair whilst I'm of work as I no doubt will look a sight immediately after birth, I use the one from Holland and Barratt as its no ammonia and I used it first trimester and loved it so much I stuck with it. I keep getting my nails done every three weeks just to feel nice, I'm not a very girly girl so no makeup and pregnancy can take its toll on body image!

jellybelly85 · 09/05/2016 17:17

nehagarg perhaps one clothing item should be old and on other new? A mix-up of the wedding tradition for something old, new and blue?! I'm sure they'll appreciate the thought.

Best of luck with everyone nearing the end (!!). I'm 34w and a half, and DP reckons I look like I have stuffed a pillow up my clothes. Luckily I still fit into dress for the wedding this weekend, and it shouldn't be too hot then either. I have eaten A LOT of ice cream recently to deal with the heat.

Having a growth scan next week to check all ok - consultant thinks everything is fine but because I've had 5 measurements by 5 different professionals (the joys of transferring care) there was a slight dip recently. It'll be nice to see the little one again though!

Started NCT recently too - they mentioned BRAIN to aid decision making, really useful. We were also advised that baby is unlikely to need a hat this time of year, and that scratch mittens were inadvisable as its good for baby to be able to explore with their hands (but nail clippers are useful).

iamdivergent · 09/05/2016 17:34

34wk mw appt tomorrow - more bloods! Hoping that the spatone I've been taking for the last fortnight has done it's job so I don't have to go on iron tablets! Also printed my birth plan to go over with her and will mention the home birth and see what she says - I'm trying not to set my heart on it because I'm convinced it's not going to happen due to staff/equipment shortages.

Really wishing I'd booked to finish work earlier, finish 3wks tomorrow and it just seems so long away. I'm ready to leave now tbh, my head isn't in it at all.

iamdivergent · 09/05/2016 17:35

Good luck for tomorrow nehagarg 😊

Eastend2015 · 09/05/2016 17:56

Thanks all! Does 5lb4 sound big for 34 weeks? Apparently that's average. Good luck for tomorrow nehagarg! We'll all be thinking of you!
