I know there's already a thread up for early Jan babies but couldn't see one for the rest of Jan (probably as I'm jumping the gun a bit here!).

This is my first proper pregnancy and I'm a planner by nature so I need some kind of place to talk about this so I don't drive my DP mad!

Bit about me:
I'm 28
This is baby number one
EDD 6th Jan.

Anyone else want to join me?

Im still drinking tea! I dont drink loads anyway but gad 2 cuppas yesterday. My worst is gonna be that i wont drink water i either drink dilute juice or diet coke. Oh said i should definitely at least cut down how much diet coke i drink i couldv cried!

MagpieCursedTea · 10/05/2016 07:54

I cut out caffeine a few weeks back for unrelated reasons but when I was pregnant with DS I still had a little bit. I think one cup of coffee is within the guidelines.

Wannabealittlegirlagain · 10/05/2016 07:54

And thanku magpie!

Wannabealittlegirlagain · 10/05/2016 07:57

The nhs website recommends no more than 2 cups of tea and a can of coke or 2 cups of coffee

ChickadeeChick · 10/05/2016 07:57

Blondel oh no! Glad I'm not the only one. The less recovery time is appealing to me too, especially with a 3yo. Although it wasn't that bad, was it? Once the stitches came out on day 5? I wanted to drive by 4 weeks as was going a bit crazy in the house, and was walking to breastfeeding clinic etc by 2-3 weeks. Who am I kidding. You're right though an ELCS would be more controlled and less horrendous than the emergency section wouldn't it?
Sorry for all my abbreviations Wannabe Blush

ChickadeeChick · 10/05/2016 08:01

Myheart don't worry about the coffee. You can have 200mg of caffeine a day which is (If I am remembering correctly) 1 cup of proper coffee, 2 instant coffees or 3-4x teas? Might be less tea than that actually. Does anyone know?
I've bought some decaf coffee but I can't face it right now. I have a tea in the morning at the moment and a tea in the afternoon when I start flagging. Other than that I am having decaf tea. Yorkshire tea is the best decaf I've found by the way Grin

ChickadeeChick · 10/05/2016 08:02

Wannabe do you like caffeine free Diet Coke? X

Wannabealittlegirlagain · 10/05/2016 08:05

Dont worry chickadee its good to find out what all this stuff means!!

Im not a massive fan but i think im gonna have to get used to it! Has anyone else had the issue of people not knowing yet and offering u a drink and you dont know what to say?! Im going to my nannas this morning and i know she'll instantly make me a cuppa but im currently drinking my 2nd as we speak!

flossy101 · 10/05/2016 09:39

Blonde Chickadee. I had an emergency section last time too.Part of me really wants a natural birth but then I also don't want to risk having to have an emergency one this time when it could have been all nice and planned. I recovered quite quickly last time but I was younger and didnt have another child!

I'm a coffee addict, I'm still having one proper coffee a day, I need it to get me going in a morning!

We've not told anyone yet, will tell some close friends who knew I was trying to get pregnant over the next couple of weeks.

ChickadeeChick · 10/05/2016 09:45

Wannabe you could say you're on a detox and avoiding caffeine, say you're really thirsty so could you have a soft drink - that would work as long as she doesn't offer you a Diet Coke! Take your own decaf teabags and switch it when her back is turned??
MIL bought round one of those frozen mojito things on Sunday, I sipped it for show and chucked it down the sink periodically so it looked like I'd drank it!

ChickadeeChick · 10/05/2016 13:48

Flossy it's a big decision isn't it. I think as Blonde said they offer extra appointments to discuss VBAC but I'm afraid they'll try and pressure me for a VBAC and I'm not sure what I'll want. Like you say you don't want to end up with another EMCS.

Lura7115 · 10/05/2016 14:04

I got my BFP last Tuesday (10dpo) so I sent my urine off to get confirmed at my local doctors on Friday (14dpo) I just got a call from the doctor to say my levels weren't high enough to say I'm pregnant and not low enough to say I'm not?! I've been taking pregnancy tests everyday and lines are getting darker. I took a CBD on Tuesday and it said 1-2 and today it said 2-3. So I'm maybe thinking I sent it off to early? I've to get another urine test done this Friday. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm so worried as I miscarriage in February

Lura7115 · 10/05/2016 14:05

13 dpo not 14 dpo sorry

Perkins1 · 10/05/2016 14:15

Wow ladies, lots of new bfps! Congratulations to all!
Of my 2 social events at the wknd one was cancelled (bonus!) And the other was a bbq but I managed to make excuses about driving and seeing as they have a new baby themselves they were too stressed to notice so much!
VBAC or ELCS is something on my mind also! I'm not too fussy about experiencing a vaginal birth I just want both myself and baby to come out the other side in one piece as it were! Although mine was classed as an EMCS last time it was actually really calm as it was noticed that my DS was breach when I went in having contractions. I took a while to recover even though it all went very smoothly and said at the time I thought anyone who had it done electively needed their head testing but the thought of getting to pushing stage and them trying to use forceps etc for it to end in an EMCS anyway scares me!
Not told a sole yet, well apart from DH. I'm a bit like you myheart and would like to tell someone for in case something goes wrong but DH says we shouldn't for that reason. I almost told my mum yesterday but I thought if I can just hang on until we book a scan at around 8wks then that will be better.
I'm 5+4 and knicker check everything I go to the loo by the way! Blush

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 10/05/2016 14:36

Lura I vaguely remember reading on another thread that the tests used by GPs require quite a high hcg level to produce a positive result so hopefully it's just that. Fingers crossed that the next one comes back positive for you.

Is anyone else having really vivid dreams? I'm already struggling with insomnia and waking very early in the morning but last night at around midnight I woke myself and DP up shouting that our cat had been hurt and I needed to check on her. I very clearly remember her being covered in blood but as I was getting out of bed I realised I was still half dreaming. I'm also remembering things in the day that in my head have definitely happened e.g. riding my bike at work but I know they definitely haven't (as my work bike is completely broken). It's starting to freak me out a bit and I'm suspecting I'm going a bit mad!

Perkins I'm also knicker checking! The first few months are such a worry aren't they.

Lura I'm sure your next test will be fine, hopefully it was a bit early especially as your CBD tests are going up in weeks. Good luck Flowers

I booked my first midwife appt yesterday in 2 weeks time. No one asked me for a sample though yet? I think they just take your word for it in my area.

thisisbloodyridiculous · 10/05/2016 16:39

Perkins & chick I'm in your knicker checking club too! Although I am really struggling this week with nausea, heartburn and tiredness! Tell me it's not going to be like this for the next 8 months?! Sad

ChickadeeChick · 10/05/2016 17:29

Thisis I am getting nauseous in the mornings, then it eases. I have to get up really slowly. Welcome to the knicker checking club! Im waiting for the heartburn to set in! Grin

twinkydink · 10/05/2016 18:12

Made my first doctors appointment today. It's only a 15 minute job where I think they do a urine sample and basically tell.me what's going to happen. I assume after that I have another appointment where they take blood and then the scan?!

I work in a school though and we are encouraged to book appointments after school but the only time I could get was 10
15. Never mind!

I'm also in the knicker checking club, part of me still thinks AF is lurking. I'm getting terrible indigestion after eating which i have never had before.

This being pregnant lark isn't pretty is it?!

MagpieCursedTea · 10/05/2016 18:36

It really isn't twinkydink! I keep coming really close to being sick in the street when I'm out and about. Not a classy look!

Lura I didn't even know doctors tested urine. I haven't had that in either of my pregnancies. It must depend on your GPs. If you're getting dark lines on your HPTs, I'd say you're pregnant!

ChickadeeChick · 10/05/2016 19:26

Twinky I've just eaten feel bloated and gassy and I CANT POO! Argh. I hate being constipated. Sad so attractive. Tmi. Sorry Blush

Perkins1 · 10/05/2016 20:22

OMG chickadee I can't poo either Shock I've taken a senna tablet as it says u can in small amounts whilst pregnant!

MagpieCursedTea · 10/05/2016 20:28

I've been struggling with that too, until today when it went completely the other way Blush
I'm on holiday and have spent the day rushing into cafes to use the toilets. This was standard for me in the first trimester of my last pregnancy. Being pregnant gives me IBS symptoms, anyone else find that?

ChickadeeChick · 10/05/2016 20:47

Oh I feel less alone now!!! Blush Sorry you've been poorly Magpie I hope it eases soon, how miserable.

TinyHumanJan17 · 10/05/2016 20:56

My doctors didnt bother with any tests, the receptionist just asked if id done a home pregnancy test and when i said yes she said i needed to self refer to the midwives.

The midwives have told me that i do have to go see my gp as ill need the high dose folic acid and i also take antidepressants and need to discuss options with regards to them. But rang doctors again today and the first appointment they can offer me is 2 weeks time!!

I told my boss today cos i work in retail o the delivery team and obviously arent allowed to do moving and handling! she was really good about it actually and let me in on a little secret that shes also just found out shes pregnant, 2 weeks further along than me! so it was actually really nice to be able to tell someone and discover theyr in the same boat i am!!! i dont envy our workplace though with all the hormones running riot!!!
