I know there's already a thread up for early Jan babies but couldn't see one for the rest of Jan (probably as I'm jumping the gun a bit here!).

This is my first proper pregnancy and I'm a planner by nature so I need some kind of place to talk about this so I don't drive my DP mad!

Bit about me:
I'm 28
This is baby number one
EDD 6th Jan.

Anyone else want to join me?

My tip for taking the vitamins (and any nasty tasting tablets) is to put the water in your mouth first, then push the tablet through your lips. Sounds weird but you won't taste it!

Wannabealittlegirlagain · 09/05/2016 08:46

eeek!! iv told oh this morning... were both a bit shell shocked still!!

ive done another test and it said positive again!

im gonna get a cbd this morning but i think from lmp im around 3-4 weeks.

Congratulations to everyone!!!!

It feels so strange finally being on one of these threads!

kathrynemm · 09/05/2016 09:14

Hi all,

Thanks for your replies. I actually feel a lot better this morning and I think it has helped to get it off my chest and realise it's normal to feel a bit overwhelmed!

I am going to take your advice and speak to my GP. I think once I feel ready to tell family and friends that will help a lot too.

I should clarify I haven't regularly been drinking to excess, I just had two glasses of wine in one sitting over the weekend which I knew I shouldn't be doing and it made me feel awful and guilty afterwards. I don't want to quit alcohol completely because I need to feel as "normal" as possible right now, but I'm going to cap it at one small glass a week from now on.

Thank you x

Glad you're feeling a little better today Kathryn thinking of you Flowers

Do I have to keep peeing on a stick? I'm worried now. I have a spare maybe I will do it again tomorrow to see if I get a darker line or something. This is yesterday's.

A clearblue digital says 3+ for conceiving... the leaflet says that would normally be 5-6 weeks pregnant but the way i worked it out i should only be 4 weeks. But my last period was only 3 days long and not very heavy is it possible i actually conceived last month?

MagpieCursedTea · 09/05/2016 12:39

Chickadee that line looks fine! I keep doing tests and driving myself mad and I'm not sure it's healthy. I think the most sensible thing to do would be to just accept the first test and then stop doing them. I wonder if anyone manages that?

Wannabe it could be that you're further along but from what I've read, different women have variable levels of hcg. The other possibility is multiples, any history of twins in your family? Grin

Kathryn I'm glad you're feeling a bit better today and that you're going to speak to your GP. It really is a lot to take in isn't it?

flossy101 · 09/05/2016 13:16

Chickadee That's a strong line, maybe wait a few days and do another if you have a spare. I've done two first response tests and saving a clear blue digital until 5 weeks to see if I get a 3weeks plus.

Wannabe maybe your last period was implantation bleeding if it was only v light? You could be further along, I've read everyone has differing levels of HCG as well.

I've booked an early scan for when I'll be 9 weeks. Still seems ages off tho!

ChickadeeChick · 09/05/2016 13:53

I have a spare sainsburys own one. I'll do it in the morning. I now want a CBD too!

CharminglyGawky · 09/05/2016 15:58

Ooh lots of new BFPs! Congratulations everyone!

Wannabe that would be really exciting, if a bit of a shock if you are further along than you thought, is there anyway to work that out other than a scan?

It's really hard to stop peeing on sticks isn't it!

I don't really have many symptoms (and none that differ much from pms) so the stick is the only 'proof' I have and it's like I need to keep checking! My first CBD on Friday showed 1-2, today I bought a double pack and used one which said 2-3 and next week I will use the other one hoping for a 3+... DH thinks I'm loopy but I need to see the progression!

ZylaB · 09/05/2016 17:30

I completely understand wanting to see the progression! Now I've got my 3+ im saving the last one for before my scan next week, just in case :/

thisisbloodyridiculous · 09/05/2016 18:31

What happens at an early scan?

blondel · 09/05/2016 18:32

Got my BFP in Friday and reckon I'm due between the 5th and 10th (not sure which site to believe!) Booked my midwife app today and can't get seen until the 1st June!

Already have a 3yo DS. Feel a bit different already this time. Really bloated and lots of sensations in my lower stomach. I had a section last time so I'm not sure if I'm more sensitive this time!

Have a huge smile and want to tell everyone but I'll need to wait!

Nice to see so many with January dates. X

ZylaB · 09/05/2016 19:28

this mine is a viability scan to make sure everything is ok, standard with type 1 diabetics. They'll be checking size and date and looking for a heartbeat as I'll be 7+1, basically just checking everything is ok :)

Myheartisbeating · 09/05/2016 20:09

Oh congratulations everyone Smile

Wannabealittlegirlagain · 09/05/2016 20:12

No history of twins!

Congratulations to everyone on the BFP's!!

I booked in with midwifes today, theyv given me an edd of 12th jan but thats going off the light period i had last month so it may change when i have my 12wk scan i uess. dont have a booking in or scan date yet but sure itll come around quick!

i have a fair few illnesses so midwives want me to have an appt with my gp to discuss medications and also to get the higher dose folic acid to the otc ones. me and oh have agreed we can both tell one person each til wev had the first scan so iv told my sister and bil; and oh is gonna tell his best friend who he works with. i do feel a bit bad in a way cos when my bff fell pregnant about 3 months ago i was the person she told before everyone else so i felt like it should be her i guess but im so close to my sister i dont think i could have kept it from her!

Have felt off for a week or so but have just been putting it down to my illnesses as it does make me ill more often but now im wondering whats to do with the tiny human! had terrible dizziness and tummy ache and struggled to sleep even though im knackered. i havent experienced the bigger or sore boobs yet thank goodness though!

what are everyone else doing about telling people are u doing it before or after your 1st scan? are u doing something announcementy?

my friend put a pic of the test in a frame for her husband then to tell family she made a picture of hers and her husbands jeans then a pair of baby jeans in the middle. when it came to oh this morning i just blurted it out! and my sister i just handed her the test while i was on the phone to the midwife!

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 09/05/2016 22:51

wannabe I did the same kind of thing with my sister, I just told her suddenly when I went to see her at work. And DP I had to call in to check there actually was a line on the test so no big announcement there Smile
For my dad I'm planning on giving him a baby-related present this weekend and letting him figure it out as I feel he'll want something a bit more like an announcement.

MagpieCursedTea · 09/05/2016 23:12

Congratulations blondel! I'm also having my second and am experiencing symptoms sooner including the weird sensations. I didn't have a section though so I've put it down to my body knowing what's going on this time.

Wannabealittlegirlagain · 09/05/2016 23:41

Aww thats so cute rosie! I feel a bit bad my mum has just asked if iv done a test and i said it was negative. I just dont feel like im ready for anyone to know yet and i think we have to tell all the parents at the same time.

Im feeling really rubbish tonight feels like im coming down with a cold or something

ChickadeeChick · 10/05/2016 06:07

Magpie I knew earlier this time round too, I didn't test til cd34 with my first but had suspicions so tested on cd27 this time. I feel more pregnant than I did at this stage last time - maybe because I recognise the signs more. Also getting twinges from previous section.

Speaking of sections i'm not sure what to do about the birth now. I always said I'd never go through the traumatic time I had last time again and have an ELCS. But if I had one of those they would want to book it in 2 weeks before and that's practically New Year's Day! I'm almost tempted to attempt a VBAC and hope it goes overdue. But then what if it's early? DD was born at 38+6 after PROM and induction then subsequent section. Argh. I don't suppose I have to think about that for quite some time though!

I peed on another stick today, different kind. It's still positive Grin

ChickadeeChick · 10/05/2016 06:11

Ahh wannabe can you have a chat with DH and see if you can tell your best friend and your mum if you really want to?
I've told my "mum friends" on our what's app group and my close friend at work who I told last time. DP doesn't know. I'm not sure if he's told anyone at work but I don't mind if he's needed to talk about it with someone. Smile

blondel · 10/05/2016 06:14

Magpie maybe I am just more aware! I did forget a few times yesterday at work and then a wee twinge brought it back!

blondel · 10/05/2016 06:18

Chickadee that's similar to my dilemma! We would have an Xmas baby! I had an emergency cs last time. I know a planned one wouldn't be quite as traumatic. Part of me wants to experience a natural birth and I know it would be less recovery. In our area you get some extra appointments with the consultant midwife to discuss options (saw this on their website). I had no scar issues and healed well so I hope it would be okay. The webpage said you could aim for vbac and book a caesarean for 41 weeks if no labour. I think I need some advice!

Wannabealittlegirlagain · 10/05/2016 06:52

Can i ask wat all the initials stand for?! Iv no idea wat elcs vbac or prom is hahaha

MagpieCursedTea · 10/05/2016 07:17

Elcs is an elective c-section
Vbac is vaginal birth after Caesarian
Prom is premature rupture of membranes (waters breaking early)

Myheartisbeating · 10/05/2016 07:27

We haven't told anyone yet - DH wants to keep it quiet for a few weeks in case something goes wrong. I want to tell someone in case something goes wrong! It's so hard, I'm desperate to tell my friend, but I'll keep quiet just now. I was in so much shock I called DH on his lunch break and just blurted it out! Haha! I don't think we'll do an announcement as such, just tell people gradually after the scan. I'd also like to tell his mum sooner, as she's desperate for a grandchild, but DH (rightly) says she'll be so upset if something happens that it wouldn't be fair. Maybe in a few weeks we'll crack though. I've been referred to the midwifes but not heard anything yet. Think that might make it more real. Is anyone else still drinking coffee? I've cut down to one a day, but still feeling a bit guilty!
