I know there's already a thread up for early Jan babies but couldn't see one for the rest of Jan (probably as I'm jumping the gun a bit here!).

This is my first proper pregnancy and I'm a planner by nature so I need some kind of place to talk about this so I don't drive my DP mad!

Bit about me:
I'm 28
This is baby number one
EDD 6th Jan.

Anyone else want to join me?

Congrats flossy!
I've already told my sister and will tell my dad and his other half whenever I next see them as if anything were to happen, I'd want their support. Apart from that I'm keeping it quiet until 12 weeks.

Hi Ladies, Can I join?

Got my BFP this morning - bit of a shock as we only started trying 2 weeks ago! Haven't told anyone yet, DH and I are going to discuss that tonight.

Bit about me -
28
Baby number 1
EDD 12th January

Think it's going to take a while to get over the shock. Anyone having any symptoms yet? I've got whackers of boobs and period like cramping, occasional nausea but that might be psychological Wink

MagpieCursedTea · 05/05/2016 17:55

Congratulations flossy! I've told my parents and DH has told his parents but that's for now!

Congratulations to you too myheartisbeating! Sounds like positive symptoms. I'm coming up to 5 weeks and I've had sickness, cramping, heartburn and tiredness. It's my second pregnancy and I've found the symptoms are showing up sooner this time.

Cottagecosy · 05/05/2016 20:22

Congrats flossy, I hope all goes well for you this time.

Myheartisbeating you are pretty much me! Congrats on getting pregnant so quick, it's a shock though isn't it when you hear about others taking a while!

Magpie I'm glad to hear you say you feel that is early for symptoms. I'm beginning to worry iv not had more! 5+4 here, slightly tender boobs and a fair bit of stretchy cramps but otherwise nothing. Never thought I would actually want to feel sick! I hope your not feeling too rough with it all

flossy101 · 05/05/2016 20:28

Congrats myheartisbeating!

No real symptoms for me, slight cramping and feeling tired but no sickness yet.

I didn't get many symptoms with DS, had a lovely pregnancy, although the birth more than made up for that!

Anyone made a midwife appointment yet? I think I'm going to wait until week 6, the midwife does a clinic each week so should be able to get an appointment by week 7.

mayago · 05/05/2016 21:03

Got a lovely 3 weeks + on a CB digital this morning. Bang on, as I'm 5+1 today. I wish there were tests that go beyond; I'm finding it comforting to have some data to analyse! I've booked a scan for next Wednesday at 6 weeks. A bit earlier than I'd like, but I wanted something before I tell my parents.

I went to the doctor a few days after the BFP - mainly to discuss options for allergy tablets. He gave me the midwives details, and after sending them my details it's a 2-3 week wait for an appointment Hmm

I went to the my office today, which is a 2.5-3 hour commute each way (I normally work from home). What a great time for the morning sickness to start! I've been getting dangerously dizzy and my ears start ringing.. I bought my weight in carb-based snacks today, I swear! And decaf lattes are certainly not the real thing as I couldn't stay awake on the way home.

This is going to be a fun journey!! So glad to share with you all Smile

Myheartisbeating · 06/05/2016 07:33

Thank you all Smile. Cottage I know! I've lurked on here for a while and just assumed it would take a few months at least. DH is walking around with quite a smirk!

Magpie and Mayago I hope the sickness isn't too bad, as reassuring as it must be.

Has anyone any recommendations for books? I'm the kind of person that needs to know what's going on, and despite knowing the ins and outs of various animals reproduction, I feel completely out of my depth!

SincerelyRosie · 06/05/2016 07:36

I range the doctors who passed me onto the midwives. They said they would be in touch but have since called & wanted to book in ASAP. (I think because of my pcos my last period was in January so had to explain I'm not that far gone!) so have an appointment in Sunday should be 6weeks ish.

Hope the morning sickness isn't too bad ladies!!

MagpieCursedTea · 06/05/2016 08:01

Rosie I had the same situation yesterday trying to explain my dates to the GP. I think it'll be a theme for us over the next few weeks!

Myheartisbeating I have a day by day pregnancy book that I used in my last pregnancy that was lovely. It's a big text book with a page for each day (I think it's called your pregnancy day by day) but there's lots of similar ones. I also find apps quite helpful. Pregnancy+ is a good one.

Mayago I wish there were tests beyond that too! It would be handy to have ones that take you right up to the 12 week scan. I guess hcg levels don't change that much after the 3+?

Cottage all I had at this point with DS was slightly sore boobs. Every pregnancy is different (but that doesn't mean you worry any less!)

I had a super dark result on my test this morning. Trying to decide whether to do the CBD tomorrow or Sunday. The last one was Sunday, should I try to hold out?
Anyone else really struggling with bloating? It's making my stomach quite sore and I look pregnant already because of it. I'm drinking loads of peppermint tea but it's not making any difference.

mayago · 06/05/2016 10:39

Thanks Myheartisbeating. I feel fine today, so not sure if the travel set it off.

Magpie I love Pregnancy+! It's usually my first stop in the morning, ahead of checking emails and FB from bed.

I wish someone would test my blood already. I have a feeling my iron is low, but don't want to start supplementing unless I'm advised properly. Soooo impatient!

twinkydink · 06/05/2016 12:48

My boobs are really sore today! Bloating doesn't seem as bad though. Today I am officially late so it's all starting to feel a bit more real!

Have got such a busy month with weddings and hen dos, it's going to be so obvious when I don't drink at anything!!

mayago · 06/05/2016 13:22

Twink I went to a brunch with a bunch of girls on Sunday. Prosecco was unlimited, and I managed to get through it keeping mine topped up with orange juice. I think I drank about a quarter of a glass of actual prosecco in the end, which I was happy about. No one noticed a thing!

goldensunlight · 06/05/2016 20:00

Hi ladies,
Hoping I can join you. Congratulations on your positives!

About me...I'm 30, this will be my first baby (all being well) and I got my bfp yesterday evening after becoming suspicious about the sensitivity of my boobs! I am 4+2 so still very early. We had our first fertility appointment booked with the doctor next week so can't quite believe it!

MagpieCursedTea · 06/05/2016 20:35

Congratulations golden!

Mayago can you book an appointment with your GP and ask them to test your iron levels?

Perkins1 · 07/05/2016 07:22

Ah goldensunlight that's great news!

Got my 3+ today CBD at 5+1 - such a relief! I have 2 social gatherings this wknd and both sets of friends are super sleuths! Will have to be very sneaky and have some answers prepared Grin
Will give the pregnancy+ app a try as it seems a few of you are using it!

Myheartisbeating · 07/05/2016 08:07

Congratulations Golden!

Thanks for the app tip - can't believe I never thought of that. It's really useful.

I've arranged a referral to the midwife, so should hear back in the next few weeks. I feel like a complete fraud though, like I'm making it all up.

Nausea has definitely started, no vomiting yet though.

My problem will be explaining away not drinking coffee. I'm such a coffee guzzler and my friends will pick up instantly that I'm not drinking it.

Good luck with the social gatherings Perkins. Any chance you can just buy your own drinks and pretend they're alcoholic?

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 07/05/2016 10:54

Congratulations goldensunlight! That's such brilliant timing!

V. jealous of those getting a 3+ on CBDs. I had a negative on my first one last week then a 2-3 weeks (thankfully!) on one I did on Friday which helped put my mind at ease. I have had quite low hcg levels as I think I might have ovulated later than I thought but it's nice to see it going up!

I'm a great lover of the pregnancy apps, I've been using Ovia, Glo and Pregnancy + and I also check them first thing!

Myheart I gave up coffee when we started trying and I used to drink quite a lot of it at work so was prepped for questions from colleagues. I just told everyone that I wanted to try and have a bit of a detox from it as I felt like I was becoming a caffeine addict and nobody questioned it which was nice!

CharminglyGawky · 07/05/2016 10:57

I just told my parents! We live a fair distance away from them and they stayed last night so not being sure when we would next see them we decided to tell them.

I dithered all last night and finally told them pretty much as they were leaving, it went well.

Now I feel like a fraud! Anyone know when this all starts to feel real?

The only symptoms I've had are sore boobs (which I sometimes get before a period anyway), some mild nausea (psychsamatic?) and I'm peeing a little bit more (but I'm trying to drink more as I'm terrible at remembering to drink) I've wanted this for so long I can't let myself believe if and yet it's pretty much all I'm thinking about... Gah!!!

MagpieCursedTea · 07/05/2016 13:15

Charmingly it didn't start to feel real for me last time until I'd had my first scan. I know what you mean about feeling like a fraud. I think it's because there's no real evidence of pregnancy that others can see (apart from pee sticks).

Rosie I'm around 5 weeks today and I got a 2-3 this morning so you're not alone in not getting a 3+ yet. I'm trying not to worry about it though as I got a 1-2 weeks 6 days ago.

mayago · 07/05/2016 13:34

Last night I woke up with cramping at about 4. After half and hour or so, I figured I'd have a wee and see if that eased the cramps a bit. Made it to the bathroom and promptly fainted. Not sure how I missed bashing my head on the loo, but I did and came to with OH shouting my name and shaking me. He wanted to call for an ambulance, but I convinced him to call 111 instead. And then they told me to go to A&E anyhow..

A&E ran a load of tests, stuck in a cannula, and eventually sent me to gynaecology. They did an internal scan and an ultrasound, and we got to see some of baby's first heart beats at 5+3! My HCG level was more than 8000, and apparently they can see a pregnancy sac from 1500+. We were very lucky to see as much as we did, as it's still so very early.

Wish I'd gotten a picture, but I was so tired and in pain by that point I didn't think to ask.

mayago · 07/05/2016 13:39

That's fantastic Charmingly! I get to do that on Friday.. I might be 34, but still feel they might somehow disapprove? Or need proof, lol.

Rosie and Magpie I got a 2-3 at 4+6 in the afternoon, then tried again at 5+1 with FMU and got the 3+. The test says it is more accurate with FMU.

My bloodwork came back fine, so I guess I'll just have to start taking it easy. I'm using my fitbit these days, and trying to stay above 10,000 steps. I've gained weight recently and want to keep it under control during this pregnancy.

flossy101 · 07/05/2016 20:43

I booked a private early scan last time around 9 weeks as it feels such a long time to wait until 12 weeks when it starts to feel "real" tempted to do the same again this pregnancy.

MagpieCursedTea · 07/05/2016 20:55

Mayago I did use FMU. I think it's rising at the same rate as it did with DS though. I wouldn't have even thought about it rising faster if I hadn't have read people getting 3+ at this point on here. Trying not to worry!
Glad you got well looked after in A&E, must've been lovely too see the scan!
I'm also a Fitbit user, finding it really hard getting my steps in at the moment (though I'm still managing 10,000 but only just).
My back really hurts and the pain is travelling down my bum into my left leg. From doing some googling it sounds like it's my sciatic nerve but it seems unusual to have pain with that this early in pregnancy.

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 07/05/2016 21:08

Thanks everyone for the reassurance Smile
Mayago that is quite a dramatic way to see the heartbeat! Glad everything was ok in the end and what a great silver lining to the whole thing.

Charmingly I think I might be telling my dad tomorrow but I'm terrified so hoping it goes well! I keep forgetting it's happening and then getting a little shock when I remember that I'm growing a little person Grin I don't know if it's ever going to feel properly real...

OP posts:
twinkydink · 08/05/2016 07:53

I got through my first social event where I would normally drink and I think there was only one person who.was a bit suspicious.

Is anyone else waking up really early? No matter what time I go to sleep I wake up early and can't get back to sleep!! Driving me crazy!

mayago so glad to hear everything is alright and how exciting you got to see so much!

I'm contemplating an early scan but haven't spoken to DP yet. Are many people here planning one?
