I know there's already a thread up for early Jan babies but couldn't see one for the rest of Jan (probably as I'm jumping the gun a bit here!).

This is my first proper pregnancy and I'm a planner by nature so I need some kind of place to talk about this so I don't drive my DP mad!

Bit about me:
I'm 28
This is baby number one
EDD 6th Jan.

Anyone else want to join me?

hellington I've heard that eating local honey can help hay fever. Some people also put things like Vaseline in their nose to prevent inhaling as much pollen. Are there no pregnancy safe meds? I thought some of the sickness meds were antihistamine?

Astro86 · 01/06/2016 08:31

Another suffering with hayfever here, (raising snotty tissue in solidarity). with DS nothing was said about antihistamine while pregnant so I just took loratadine as usual. But when I asked my GP this time she advised to avoid taking anything as much as poss so I've only taken 1 so that I could get through a driving lesson without constant sneezing!

Otherwise I don't go out without glasses/sun glasses, use Vaseline around my nose, stocked up on inhalers and have treated myself to the good tissues!

I seem to be stuck in a cycle of being exhausted during the day and then insomnia at night. Frustrating to say the least.

Slightly random question, has anyone had to sort out travel insurance while pregnant before? We're going to a wedding in the states in a few weeks and I need to get something in place but have never flown while pregnant!

NJ81 · 01/06/2016 08:32

Hi everyone can I join in? Due end of January, 1st baby (hopefully) after a mc last year. Symptoms starting to disappear and although midwife said that's fine (no pain, no bleeding) I am worrying like mad! Still feel tiny bit queezy but not enough to put me off food or anything, more sick with worry I think. Anyone else had similar? X

MagpieCursedTea · 01/06/2016 09:13

Astro we went on holiday a few weeks back (I was 5 weeks at the time). We already had insurance so DH just phoned them and told them I was pregnant and that was it! It was in Europe though so we were covered by the EHIC as well, not sure if that makes a difference.

NJ congratulations! Sorry to hear about your loss. I found that my symptoms came and went a lot to begin with and now at 8 weeks I still have moments where I feel better than others.

hels18 · 01/06/2016 11:03

astro thank you for the reminder! Am off on holiday early July and will be 12 weeks by then, so definitely need to let my insurance company know. I'm with the Post Office travel insurance.

Little update from me. Been having some left side abdominal pains so just had an early scan at EPU. Please to say that at 5+4 beanie is in the right place and its little heart was beating away! They did find an ovulation cyst so said it could be causing the pain.

Jodie1982 · 01/06/2016 13:07

Hi ladies.
Anybody else finding it hard to settle at night? I can nap well during the day no problem, it's so frustrating. Never had sleep problems this early in other pregnancies. All my symptoms are stronger than before too....twins?!

CarrotVan · 01/06/2016 14:07

Great news Tabitha

Absolutely Jodie - I can't get comfortable and I'm too hot/cold

Welcome all the new people. This is a busy group.

MrsH87 · 01/06/2016 14:34

Hi all! I'm new to this thread. Due the end of Jan with no.1.

Jodie - yes, recently been having very restless sleep! Restless legs and lots of tossing and turning in the night. It's miserable.

NJ - my symptoms come and go. I was a bit sick yesterday morning and I thought that was everything kicking off, but today I feel totally fine and unpregnant!

I have gone off tea, coffee and meat though! Which is really unusual for me. I'm really into marmite and pasta (not together!).

broodykg · 01/06/2016 14:49

Hi all,

So I'm 6+1 with baby number one after 19 months ttc. Actually took the test randomly 5 days before my period was due because I had an appointment the next day at a hospital for fertility investigations so thought I may as well just check before we went! BFP!!!!!! Couldn't believe it!! I even did another 5tests! Haha.

All feels very surreal. Ive had cramps on and off and constant breast soreness but other then that I feel fine, keep wishing to feel ill (as stupid as that might sound) to make it feel more real as I keep panicking that it could mean that something is wrong (paranoid I know).

Other half is very worried but happy, although does keep saying that Jan is the worst time to be born as he has a Jan birthday too haha. Although baby is due 24th (fingers crossed all goes well) so could be late and fall into Feb.

We found out when I was 3+5 so seems like we have been waiting ages as it is so going to have a scan at around 8 weeks privately just to break up the time and to give some reassurance before telling family.

there are so many Jan babies already it's hard to keep up with this thread but good luck to all!

Xx

Parney · 01/06/2016 15:11

Hi everyone, I've recently had an early scan where baby has been dated as New Year's Day! So I'm no longer with the December crew, mind if I join? I've barely had any symptoms so seeing baby at 9 weeks was amazing reassurance. Still so worrying! Can't believe the amount of January babies! Broody you could be me! I got a BFP at 3+6! I'm 9+3 now!

CarrotVan · 01/06/2016 15:56

Welcome Broody and Parney

Broody - there are lots and lots of people due around 20-25 January on this thread.

releashi · 01/06/2016 16:39

I'm 6+1 by my calc (but 7+5 by lmp which I'm pretty sure is wrong as ovulate late) and I've had some pink in my cm after a BM three days ago and then again today it looks mauve sort of with the lightest pink a couple of hours later too tiniest patch but I keep checking for it and today I just feel off with a heavy feeling like before bm or period. I've not had my booking in yet is there any point doing anything at this stage or should I just wait and see?

NJ81 · 01/06/2016 16:48

Thanks magpie and mrsH - it's reassuring to know symptoms can come and go. Panicking like mad here and actually want to feel more sicky! Supposed to be 6wks but I ovulate late so think I'm only 4 which puts me in a January / February border...

MagpieCursedTea · 01/06/2016 17:12

Welcome and congratulations to the newcomers! We do have loads of people now. Maybe we should get a list together for the start of the next thread?

Releashi you could try and be seen by your local EPU if you're worried? They'll see you even if you haven't been booked in yet.

Admarks · 01/06/2016 19:24

Welcome everyone, we do seem like a big group now!

Parney - I'm also on the Dec thread as my EDD is somewhere between 31/12 and 03/01. I'm hoping for more clarity on dates next week and then at my dating scan on 21st. Think I'll probably stay on both threads (if they'll have me Wink) due to the lovely ladies on each! Difficult to not feel like an imposter on both at the moment though!!

Summer9 · 01/06/2016 19:37

Released if you ring your docs and say you've had light spotting they should book you in for an early scan. I bled in my first pregnancy (clot and blood - freaked me right out) Only lasted an hour or so. Doc booked me in for a scan and I had an internal scan and got to see my bambino heart beat and little sac. Was cool!

Welcome to all newbies.Smile

Those worrying about lack of preg symptoms - don't panic. They tend to kick in later on (if your going to get them) my nausea hit at 8 weeks last time. This time round I'm feeling sick in the morning when getting up but not quite 8 weeks yet - typical it came earlier when trying to get a 9month ready!

Summer9 · 01/06/2016 19:38

Releashi not released!!! Bloody autocorrect

littlek86 · 01/06/2016 19:54

Has anyone had reflexology whilst pregnant? I had one session pre finding out and wondering if it's OK to carry on? Therapist says is fine. To all those saying about lack of sympotoms, same for me...5+4 so doubt there will be much to write home about yet xxx

MagpieCursedTea · 01/06/2016 20:38

Not reflexology but I was having acupuncture to help with TTC and have continued with it whilst I've been pregnant.

littlek86 · 02/06/2016 03:35

Anyone having insomnia?! She says at 3:30am!!!

releashi · 02/06/2016 11:07

Thanks MagpieCursedTea and Summer9 I spoke to the doctor today and described what was happening and they said they weren't worried as there wasn't any bright blood or flecks and it wasn't increasing. Also the cramps I've been having have actually tailed off and are less often. If I get worried to call again.

releashi · 02/06/2016 11:08

littlek86 Yes that was me last night too but I didn't stay awake for long I just wake up all the time sometimes to go to the toilet other times just awake for a bit then back asleep.

Astro86 · 02/06/2016 12:07

releashi glad to see things are better.

Yup, insomnia here too and today I'm struggling to keep my eyes open and the nausea is awful. DS is have a tv day as I can barely move, his current choice from all of Netflix...Arthur Christmas...perfect choice for June!

I just had a message from one of my oldest friends announcing she's due in December. (Maybe she's on the Dec thread...) I'm so flipping chuffed as I know they were struggling, I've resisted the urge to message back saying me too! Makes me wish we lived closer to home, it would be great to have a rl pregnancy buddy!

Has anyone else had to resort to the hair band round the button hole on their trousers...?

Oh and thanks for the travel insurance tips!

CarrotVan · 02/06/2016 13:16

I've lost about 8 lbs in the last 6 months so all my clothes are slightly too big and I can avoid the hair band belt extension for now. With it being "summer" I'm mostly in dresses anyway so today is a jersey dress with a wrapover bodice and a bit of ruching over the stomach. I've also made myself a belly band out of some leftover jersey fabric so that will help.
