Good morning ladies!

We had our early scan yesterday and it was all good. Phew. I didn't really have any reason to worry but I still did so it was good to put my mind at rest for now! We also found out that we have likely got our dates wrong as the baby was bigger than 8w (which I thought we were yesterday) so they now date us between 30th Nov and 3rd Dec (8+3 to 8+6). Then again, my husband is very tall, so you know, maybe it is just a long baby? Ha! Grin

Next on to do is the harmony test. Again, no reason to worry but I would rather know as soon as possible (we will prob go in 10days).. Just in case there is something wrong..

Like someone already said that when you're pregnant you will worry from conception for the next 20 years and I am definitely a poster child for this..

NurseRosie · 27/04/2016 08:24

Space, my friend saw me buying POTS tests and then when we went out I wasn't drinking and felt so ill I couldn't eat... couldn't exactly hide that one, but yes they asked out right.
I've not done a very good job of keeping it a secret, just so excited x

NurseRosie · 27/04/2016 08:26

Essybird, glad the scan went well. Did you see a little fluttery heartbeat? x

JojoChuHi · 27/04/2016 08:28

I'm a worrier too, but am not hoping for the best today. Had some brown spotting yesterday and this morning a toilet visit was on the red side with some cramps Sad. Have just been to doc for sit and wait appointment but she's referred me to the EPU so will at least know one way or the other by lunchtime I hope.

Can't fault the NHS sometimes, especially with the flak they are getting at the moment.

I think I'll be ok even if it's not good news once I have a scan, it's just the not knowing!

firawla · 27/04/2016 08:28

plumpandplain yes. I've lost about 15 kilos before getting the bfp so I want to stick with it. I've heard it's fine to keep going during pregnancy, although my will power has been good the last couple if days since I've been so tired and dh is working away so ended up reaching for the chocolate in the evening. Must get back on plan properly from today! My bmi is borderline around 35 so was hoping to push it just underneath by my booking apt in a couple of weeks, if possible! Well done on your 4 stones! And good luck with continuing

As for telling friends and family, I'm really rubbish at keeping it to myself so told my mum, sister, mil, sil etc and I think my mum told other sils, granny etc so it's spread quite far and wide! So I thought I'd better tell the kids yesterday in case they end up hearing the news second hand. I do feel a bit worried though telling kids so early, but hoping it'll all be ok

swancourt · 27/04/2016 10:08

Oh gosh jojo, good luck. Please let us know. Fingers crossed - bleeding is pretty normal this early in pregnancy, even if worrying xxxx

Yes spacedinosaur. Because I had my MC between 4-31 March (constant bleeding for four weeks), my family knew about it. And about a zillion people at work, because I had to keep rearranging things around it and in the end I just told them. I just thought that if I had an illness, I'd tell them what it was, so why should I keep a miscarriage like some sort of dirty secret.

What this means though is that EVERYBODY knows I am trying for another baby. My nan asked me on the phone the other day if there was any news yet. I lied and said no because I thought - FFS, it's been 3.5 weeks since my MC ended! Leave me alone! Even though I am actually preg.

Just postponed a lunch with two of my friends at work as I knew they'd know if I didn't drink today. I don't mind telling people early, because if the worst happens I'm glad of having family and friends to talk to. But I'm not quite ready to tell - 5 weeks I think, when at least I know the little one stuck :)

swancourt · 27/04/2016 10:09

Got my 2+3 on the Clearblue this morning, though.

Going to wait a week and do it again - if I get my 3+ I can at least accept that HCG levels are rising pretty normally.

I know the Clearblues are a total rip-off gimmick and totally unreliable. But still ...

SouthDownsSunshine · 27/04/2016 10:28

swan - I told friends and family I needed time before trying again, after the mc. It fooled most people. We did tell people about 8 weeks though - I was so ill it was hard to hide it!

jojo sorry to hear you're bleeding. I hope it's ok xx

swancourt · 27/04/2016 11:00

Oooh good plan southdowns.

I am going to tell my mum today though, as she's coming to stay - but I'll ask her to keep it quiet.

Also won't repeat the mistake of telling DDs. They weren't upset at all - I think we handled it well with them - but let's just say DD1 (4.9) is not exactly tactful :o

Brisgirl · 27/04/2016 11:52

Ooh plump and firawla was going to ask about slimming world. I've been doing it to lose the last remnants from my last pregnancy hah! I am about 1lb away from target so desperate to get there although the last week has been disastrous - I want all the salty cheesy snacks, carbs and plenty of cake! I don't think I'll be allowed to keep doing it as my bmi is below 25 but will definitely try and eat better than last time round. Didn't touch a single piece of fruit or veg for months!!

Hannahcarp27 · 27/04/2016 12:11

Had my first doctor appt today. Reckons I'm 6 wks so due 16th Dec. Have managed to get my 1st midwife appt day after I return from 3 week holiday which is good. So just have to try chill out on holiday and avoid cocktails ahhh!!!

ZylaB · 27/04/2016 12:31

Hi! Can I join? I'm actually due 3rd Jan (am 4+1!) but I'm type 1 diabetic and won't be allowed to go full term so this will be a December baby (and no earlier than that I hope!). This is dc#2, I have a 14 month old DD :)

JojoChuHi · 27/04/2016 12:31

Thanks southdowns and swan Just back from hospital. Consultant thought all signs point to MC (or ectopic?!) but I'll get blood results later today then may have to go for scan if hormone levels still high. I can tell my symptoms have subsided, so am expecting the MC, but time will tell.

Just want to know before 3 day family party at wknd one way or the other... Can't face knowing looks if not drinking and still be in limbo.

billabye · 27/04/2016 12:39

Jojo it must be so hard Flowers

ZylaB · 27/04/2016 12:41

I also do slimming world and have lost just over 4st, you need to get a form signed by your mw at each visit I think, and they don't asvocate losing while pregnant but it can help prevent putting too much on :). I think you get an extra Healthy Extra A and B

swancourt · 27/04/2016 12:41

So sorry jojo

Babydreaming · 27/04/2016 13:10

Hey,

Just a reintroduction and marking my place! I'm 27 and had a chemical in January. I'm engaged and getting married this summer. I'm currently 8 weeks present but the symptoms haven't been too bad at all. Nausea is minimal and disappears when I eat. I have been feeling tired despite getting 8 hours a night but I think I'm always tired even when not pregnant! I work long hours and nights so I think my job distracts me from the symptoms! I had an early scan and everything was looking good. There was a strong fetal heart rate and I was a little further along than I thought. The only thing that concerns me is that the heart rate was 167. I've heard it's supposed to be about 150. Does anybody know if 167 is abnormal? Worried my baby is under stress! How much was yours on scan if you've already had one?

SouthDownsSunshine · 27/04/2016 13:15

Big hugs jojo

babydreaming don't worry, their heartbeats are fast! The smaller a mammal, the faster their hb. Useless fact of the day ;)

Just had my booking in appointment, but got halfway through before she asked where I want to give birth, and because it's not the local hospital, I need to have book in with the other health service. Gah. Midwife was lovely though, and I think I'll still be seeing her for my routine appointments.

weechops · 27/04/2016 13:26

So sorry jojo big hug Flowers

barkingtreefrog · 27/04/2016 13:26

Hi romoca and zyla

essybird great news on the early scan Grin. When it is usual to have the harmony scan?

jojo I'm so sorry Thanks I hope the blood test at least gives you a clear answer so you're not in limbo.

dreaming no idea about heart rates, but I'm sure they would have said something if they were concerned.

I am trying to not eat all the crap today. So far I have snacked on an entire punnet of grapes, a pack of cherry tomatoes, two slices of malt loaf and half a bag of mini carrots. That was before lunch. I also have celery, cucumber, dates and sultanas to hand before I can get to the crisps!
I have a stomach and my waist band is uncomfortably tight. I have always been slim so this is a first for me - I've always had a healthy appetite people always ask me how I get away with eating so much but I'm usually really active, and I haven't been since before the last IVF as I was advised to stop running and cycling, so that was over two months ago. Is it normal to put on loads of weight and get a stomach before the actual baby bump arrives?!

Babydreaming · 27/04/2016 13:43

I haven't put on any weight yet but I've been eating like a horse so I'm quite surprised! I've heard your metabolism increases slightly initially so maybe that's why?

fiddlesticks123 · 27/04/2016 15:33

Oh jojo I'm so sorry, holding out hope it's just a horrible misunderstanding and everything is fine for you.

I'm also eating like a horse, sadly the wrong things as they're the only thing curbing my nausea. Already put 4lbs on which is far from ideal as my BMI is already in the overweight category. Dreading the MW saying I'm in the high risk category due to weight tomorrow but it might be inevitable.

Also finding myself being quite short tempered at work, I work in a heavily male dominated industry (with a bed rep) and am frankly my patience in dealing with some colleagues is wearing thin. Gave a chap a talking to this morning after consistently working with him to try and resolve his own shortcomings in an important process, he was making endless excuses and is a total chauvinist and I'd just had enough, think he was a bit surprised but by this afternoon he'd finally pulled his finger out and got this particular thing done!!

Is anyone else becoming a bit less tolerant of excuses/general everyday life?! Thankfully at the moment this has only manifested itself in the workplace and I'm still nice to DH Grin

fiddlesticks123 · 27/04/2016 15:34

That's a bad rep, not a bed rep before anyone gets the wrong idea haha Hmm

JojoChuHi · 27/04/2016 16:36

Just had call from the lovely ladies at the hospital to let me know my Hcg levels were too low for the pregnancy to still be happening Sad. So I'm lying in bed eating a packet of chocolate caramel digestives to take my mind off it...

I should have noticed my symptoms weren't really strong enough and had gone entirely by yesterday, but being on this group with you all has been so helpful to gauge what is normal, and what I'll look out for next time!

Wishing you all the best of luck for the next 8ish months xx

firawla · 27/04/2016 16:38

So sorry jojo Flowers
