Morning all👋🏼. Been having a few sleepless nights here. Feeling very blergh. Not feeling hungry at all but when I do eat feel really sickly.

Re holidays - can't count it as a holiday but had booked s long haul to see new nephew in August before we found out.
So don't want to go but then the dc will be upset on not meeting their first paternal cousin.

Boobs feel like they gone up s few sizes and last night had to rummage for comfy undies as all seem to be digging into me🙀.
Congrats on the twins notaclue.

underrugsswept · 08/05/2016 06:05

Lily, I'm not having an early scan. I haven't even had my booking in appointment yet! I'm 8+2 today.

Can't remember who asked upthread but I'm also feeling quite worried all the time too. I'm have some mystery health things anyway but also found a weird lump on my neck this week. NHS website says they're common and usually harmless but I'm panicking of course. Luckily we're really busy at the moment so I don't have much time to dwell. Going to book a Dr's appointment if it's still there in a week or two to get it checked out. Confused

TinySalmon · 08/05/2016 07:35

helga you made me laugh! I'm the same... So bloated and finding it hard to fit in to my clothes already but when I step on the scales there's not much difference. I'm really paranoid about putting lots of weight on because I'm an inherently lazy person and will struggle to shed it all afterwards..!

Re: holidays; absolutely YES! Just because we are pregnant doesn't mean we are handicapped!! We just can't fly in our last trimester is all. We are booking an early summer holiday either Spain or Turkey in June then South of France for the majority of August. I'd like to go visit my mum in Australia just before my last trimester too.

SouthDownsSunshine · 08/05/2016 07:35

flapjack the first trimester sucks, so don't worry about complaining. With dd I was utterly miserable for the first 16 weeks, the rest of the pregnancy was a walk in the park. I'm hoping it'll be the same this time.

Diet wise, slimming world is good. I normally have a good diet but it's been horrendous since getting pregnant.

TinySalmon · 08/05/2016 07:41

leo we were paranoid about Zika and cancelled a trip to New Orleans and Miami in April (especially as we would have just finished the IVF/egg transfer). Our travel agent said not to worry but there are already reported cases like you said and that's enough to put me off.

I have a friend who lives in Trinidad who says there have been confirmed cases there too so now the whole of the Caribbean is off my list for a while!

Bigfam · 08/05/2016 08:21

Lily and underrugsswept, I'm not having an early scan or anything either, just have to wait for the 12 week scan appointment to be sent through from the hospital.
Dd1 has caught chicken pox from her sister, she is really covered in them and not feeling too well at all, I'm worried about when the youngest (16months) catches it now.

Bigfam · 08/05/2016 09:19

MW has put my due date as 17th on my notes (which is 2 days after my sons birthday and 2 days BEFORE my eldest daughters birthday Grin )

Bella1985 · 08/05/2016 09:30

Lilydaisyrose you're not the only one! I'm 7 weeks today and I've only filled in my name and contact details with a midwife so I'm waiting for the call to arrange the booking in appt (week 10 they said that happens) and then they'll arrange a scan for week 12! Weeks and weeks away!

I also felt like I haven't got a clue about all these test everyone are taking so I googled private scans in my area and it doesn't seem like many offer it in Wales, they're mostly in the capital so I'm going to hang in and wait for the nhs stuff and try and relax and keep myself healthy and hope everything is on the right track in the meantime! Smile

TipBoov · 08/05/2016 10:09

I'm 9+4 and I haven't had any actual vomiting yet, just nausea and very occasional gagging (usually when I brush my teeth!). Starting to worry now as I was very sick with my DS, until around 13 weeks.

Although that was also an IVF pregnancy, and I was very anxious so the sickness could have been down to that.

Scan tomorrow at the IVF clinic, just one I'd booked for my own reassurance.

lilydaisyrose · 08/05/2016 10:12

Thanks to underrugsswept, Bigfam and Bella1985 I guess I don't have that long to wait now - I'm 9w today and have my booking in appt a week tomorrow at 10+1, then my scan in 3 weeks at 12+1.

Feeling totally irrationally annoyed this morning. I've really been craving real fresh fruit juice so bought 3 x bottles as a big treat (we're on quite a strict budget so can't often do this) - clementine, pineapple and apple - from Tesco. I see today that DH has let kids have free access to them and they are nearly finished. I can't hide them anywhere as they need to be refrigerated. I'm so cross - I know it's irrational as they are my children and I should want them to eat before I do and give them the shirt off my back yada yada but it was the last straw today and I'M SO FED UP of having nothing ever that just belongs to only to ME!! Wahhhhhhh!!!!!

Helgathehairy · 08/05/2016 10:13

Tip I had no nausea at all with my first pregnancy and DD is fine. I have a bit of nausea this time round but not much. I really don't think it means much.

leotwist · 08/05/2016 10:38

Re early scans, I only got one so esrly (7 wks) cos of my history of recurrent m/c & cos I'm so outrageously old! It was also at the special request of the US fertility clinic we're working with, and I had to beg for it. Initially, I was offered a scan at 13 wks, which is standard in this area of Scotland.

lilydaisyrose · 08/05/2016 11:06

Sorry I didn't mean to make anyone who has had an early scan feel like they had to justify it! Mortified, sorry guys! I know there are lots of IVF Mummies and some have had bleeding or pain, which, of course, I'm thankful I haven't had. I'm just jealous you know there's something in there - please ignore me!

leotwist · 08/05/2016 11:42

No, I'm sorry, Lily -- you didn't sound that way at all. I, on the other hand, probably sound rather defensive, from battling for the last 3 months to get more than 'standard' issue NHS care. It might be useful to others for me to recap briefly. Basically, because of my age, I wasn't entitled to any NHS fertility treatment so we paid privately for IVF in the USA, all my meds & prescriptions, blood tests and preliminary ultrasounds. Once I got pregnant, though, they tried to refuse me any additional monitoring, despite the obvious need. And the reason? Because I had gone private! Aaaargh! Angry So I had to battle massively with my GP for fuller monitoring, till she finally consulted an obstetrician. Naturally, the latter agreed necessary the extra monitoring is so, at last, I'm finally getting what's needed and more, and can finally relax. At least that'll help offset the bankruptcy! Grin

readingrainbow · 08/05/2016 12:07

Good on you, leo. You deserve the higher level of treatment for sure.

I'm about 6 weeks and don't have much nausea. I have been struggling this weekend though - I'm training to be a yoga teacher and this weekend is one of the training modules. Sitting on a mat all day, taking notes and doing yoga is a challenge at the best of times, but now I'm tired, bloated, nauseous (counting my blessings on how little, though) and antsy. I just need to suddenly STAND UP and leave the room. Or, even more embarrassingly, I fall asleep in the middle of a lecture. I'm at the front of the class. Blush

weechops · 08/05/2016 12:26

I'm not having an early scan either guys. I'm 7 weeks today and my booking appointment is in 2 1/2 weeks then scan 3 weeks after that. My dh isn't supposed to be coming home til end of August but he's told me today that he can take a week in June, so he'll be here for the scan yay!!

And the bloating! Yes! Even my high waist jeans are in the 'after birth' pile now! Leggings all the way from now on 😂

MrsJoJo · 08/05/2016 12:29

No early scans here... Also having 'is this real thoughts' now the nausea has subsided BUT I've gained 3kg since seeing my GP and gone up a bra size.

Gave up trying to wear my lovely summer denim skirt today and cut the tags out of a maternity skirt. DP thinks it hides my increasingly obvious bulge better than regular clothes so feeling comfy and not looking so fat is good! Can't wait for my new bras to arrive either as my regular bras are so uncomfortable.

flapjacklover · 08/05/2016 12:59

Lilydaisyrose Don't fret, we have VERY limited finances too, so much in fact that even before we found out we had arranged to move back in with my husbands parents. He's 31 and hasn't lived at home for yonks, and I'm 24 and have never really lived in a family home, they don't know the situation yet, we plan to tell them next week, although we plan to have a little trip, even if it is to Guernsey or St Malo (we live in Jersey so quite close and about £30 as foot passengers on boat)
You will get there financially there's lots of money saving ideas and advice with little ones.
I think the Harmony test is some sort of early private scan maybe? I don't think we're going to go for it for the same reason as you.
Not even close to getting a scan yet, you'll hear the heartbeat before I do, I think everyone is at least a little freaking.

Speaking of finances, maternity clothes on a budget... any one have any idea how you can do that?

Thank you Southdownsunshine I feel like I am loosing my mind sometimes it doesn't help my husband left for the weekend the day after we found out, the last I actually saw him was 3 days ago. weechops I have no idea how you do it!

Thank you guys for tolerating my rant I'm not used to hormone extremes, I don't even normally get anything at my time of the month, I have no idea whats happening, it might seem naïve but I didn't realise pregnancy would effect me so much.

And I think I am super slack in this congrats notaclue on your amazing news.

But also HUGE congrats to everyone who went through IVF and have gotten to this point. My friend struggled to get pregnant and is now due in about 4 weeks, but I can't imagine the emotion and difficulty in being in that situation, I can imagine the moment you saw the little cross, or word 'Pregnant' popped up, was the most amazing moment of disbelief in your life. So big congrats to you all!

firawla · 08/05/2016 13:04

flapjack maternity clothes on a budget I think George at asda have quite a few bits, I got from there in my last pregnancy and they did okay

becciandbump · 08/05/2016 13:12

Well that was a relief and was amazing heartbeat pounding away and my dates exact at 8+1. Hope everyone is having a lovely sunny Sunday x

Morning sickness and first scan anticipation - it's the December 2016 babies.
Helgathehairy · 08/05/2016 13:57

Here's a tip I just learned. If you have an enhanced sense of smell & nausea I do NOT recommend a trip to an acquarium!

Went to an acquarium we go to every now and again today and oh my god the smell! Especially the penguins which is DDs favourite.

Not fun!

readingrainbow · 08/05/2016 14:25

If you can sew there are lovely ideas and tutorials online on how to alter clothing into maternity wear. I'm going to try to make some tunics out of oversized men's shirts from a charity shop.

Mejse · 08/05/2016 15:00

Congratulations on the twins notaclue

I haven't had the opportunity to post much as I have now hit exam season, I have been keeping up with with the thread when I get the chance though. Looks like I will be having my exam, my birthday and potentially my 12 week scan all in the same week!

Waves to all the teachers! I'm not a teacher yet but I am studying to be one Grin My course is going to take much longer than it would have if i had stayed in England but it has a focus on international schools which will be helpful for me here. I have 6 weeks of teaching practice in my autumn semester which I'm feeling a bit nervous about, I have no idea what to expect trying to teach while being very pregnant.

flapjack I'm the same age as you, this is my first and I'm also 7 weeks, I keep switching between really excited, totally overwhelmed and scared that something could go wrong. I think they are all quite normal reactions. Really looking forward to the 12 week scan and hoping it will help me relax a bit.

I had a bit of a wobble yesterday, feeling quite anxious about how many decisions there are to make and how hard it is going to be finding the right balance between what I am used to/comfortable with and the Danish way of doing things/what the in laws will expect of me. Dh is very good and tries really hard to keep a nice balance of both of our cultures/traditions in our home but his family are very traditional and are easily offended if I decide to do something that isn't the Danish way.

I have an appointment for blood tests on Tuesday and a doctors appointment the week after. I'm not sure what to expect and I don't really have anyone here that I can ask. Makes everything seem a bit more real though.

Hope you are all doing well!

Bella1985 · 08/05/2016 15:04

Yay I just got a call from the midwife to arrange my booking in appointment in 2.5 weeks - she sounded really nice and I finally have a date to look forward to! Grin

SolomanDaisy · 08/05/2016 16:13

Mejsje, the main cultural difference I'm worried about is the Dutch don't offer gas and air!! I enjoyed it last time. What do the Danish do differently?
