notaclue Wow!
Amazing and what a cute scan picture :) how are you feeling about it?
Tinysalmon I know exactly what you mean! I keep fantasising about foods that I know my stomach wouldn't be able to handle it's weird.
I have been feeling so nauseous this afternoon Im not so bad when I'm teaching but as soon as 4 o clock comes I need to lie down (hoping my colleagues don't think I'm slacking) I usually stay late.

bumbleclat · 06/05/2016 17:00

I had my booking appointment on Wednesday and my first scan date came through today for June the 9th so exciting!
Am I allowed paid time off work to go to these types of appointment?

StubbleTurnips · 06/05/2016 17:08

Afternoon all, had my early dating scan today. Measured at 7w2 not 7w6 so may have a date change to 21st Dec. Fee slightly more reassured!

leotwist · 06/05/2016 17:15

Just had our 7-week ultrasound and saw our little one's heart beating for the first time! The most amazing feeling ever. So amazing that I burst into tears with legs still akimbo 😁

SouthDownsSunshine · 06/05/2016 17:21

Oh wow notaclue! That's so cool/scary!

weechops · 06/05/2016 17:43

notaclue oh wow!!! Twins eek! fantastic scan pic Smile

Theaks · 06/05/2016 17:54

Notaclue, yay twinnies! That's brilliant news. Love the idea of twins. One of my best friends has just had twin girls and I could eat them!!!

Bumblecat I get all my appointments paid off, I work for the council. I'm sure it's standard practice most places but check with your manager.

Theaks · 06/05/2016 17:57

Birchygoo thanks, yes I remember her doing that for my last pregnancy and giving me the appointment straight away, but this midwife didn't. I hope I won't be waiting too long for that letter. It should be in 3 weeks

NotAClue82 · 06/05/2016 18:00

Thanks guys I'm terrified and excited, in equal measure!

Thisisbonkers · 06/05/2016 18:53

Argh! Twins! Grin

Much love to those with losses Flowers

Can I have some bra advice? I'm the proud owner of a (currently!) 34F chest. Bras are expensive and I'm long overdue new ones. My mum said not to buy underwired Shock what am I meant to be buying? I want nice underwear!

becciandbump · 06/05/2016 19:08

Also have had the bra problem but I'm much smaller chested I think as long as it's supportive and is not underwired you can choose what you like I just found that the ones I got were not very attractive they are like a cross your heart style one nude and one black however that was just m&s I bet if you look on some online pregnancy clothes boutiques they may have some prettier ones x

Thisisbonkers · 06/05/2016 19:11

What's with the non wired though? I'm such a rookie! I know nothing! It took me years to find a brand and design that fit nicely Sad

babyinthacorner · 06/05/2016 19:14

Waves to bumble, barking & anewleaf and all the other teachers. Amazing news about the academies, huh?!

Massive congrats to Nota... Amazing news!

And huge love to n0ne & Cho xxx

I'm freaking out ever so slightly, as I'm not feeling sick anymore. Have had awful nausea since about 5 weeks, but it's disappeared over the past couple of days. Boobs still huge and sore, and still bloated. Just no nausea. And - most ridiculously of all - I keep seeing single magpies. One was SITTING ON OUR ROOF when I got home from work. Thinking about booking a scan just to find out one way or another. Any Watford people that can recommend?

becciandbump · 06/05/2016 19:25

thisisbonkers I think the non wired is because your breast tissue is more sensitive while pregnant and the wire can put extra pressure on it so they say non wired is generally better I wouldn't be able to stand the pressure of wire anyway at the moment as they are so sore the soft bras do feel very comfy

TipBoov · 06/05/2016 19:49

Twins!! Wow, congrats!

bumble - you are entitled to paid leave to attend antenatal appointments, and your employer can't ask you to make up the time, or take it as annual leave.

Insertwitticismhere · 06/05/2016 20:08

babyinthacorner might be the wrong side of Watford for you but I had a couple of scans in my last pregnancy at the Verulum clinic in St Albans and they were great.

Umming and aching about whether to go for an early scan myself or to just hang on for the 12 week one.

SolomanDaisy · 06/05/2016 20:13

Non-wired bras for women with large cup sizes frequently just doesn't work. I wore wired throughout my last pregnancy and had wired nursing bras too. As long as they are well fitted there is no problem. I got mine from figleaves, I think they were Elomi.

Bigfam · 06/05/2016 20:35

Wishing you both fast recoveries n0ne and cho, also all the best for the future.

Wow, twins notaclue!! I wonder if they'll be the only set on our thread. Had booking in appointment today, MW guessed 8+4 (going from the clearblue test, she believes they're fairly accurate)

Hanch99 · 06/05/2016 21:35

I am 7 weeks 5 days today. Ive been feeling nauseous in the evening but no sick yet. Although i have dry wretched. My symptom seem to come and go, does everyone else find that?

Does anyone know if its ok eat a steak thats cooked medium? I couldn't bring myself to order it well done. Which just let me eating round the pink just in case Smile. My husband scrapped his knife on the plate when cutting his steak and the sound nearly made me be sick.......how weird?

Happy to hear you twin news notaclue!

flapjacklover · 06/05/2016 22:02

Hi all. 24yrs old, 1st time pregnant. Don't know any of these shortcuts everyone seems to be using. Due 20th Dec, did the test yesterday and by my reckoning 7 weeks already!
Dr can't see me until Thursday they are super busy and over here we have an extra bank holiday on Monday.
I'm sooo tired, but can't sleep due to acidy sicky feelings at night, feel ill most of the time especially when walking, always hungry but nothing tastes good anymore, was on my way to work today and nearly threw up all over the pavement, I'm crying at EVERYTHING, freaking out about every little feeling thinking something might be wrong, my husband is travelling for the whole weekend (unavoidable) and to top it off I want to tell everyone but I can't tell anyone for ages, although will have to tell my in-laws after drs as we are moving in with them within the next couple of weeks and I'm sure they will notice somethings up.

I'm sure this is all normal, just wanted to say Hi, I'm here and I'm scared, impatient and super excited

oh and whats all this yellow team thing about?

barkingtreefrog · 06/05/2016 22:06

baby yes to the magpies!!! Shock I had a nurse at my house this afternoon to give me an intralipids drip and she was just packing up when I looked out of the window and saw a magpie. Desperately looked round but couldn't see another one, so I said very loudly, 'Ooo, look at the size of that magpie!' and the nurse kind of went 'mmmm' but I didn't think she had actually seen it, which meant the one magpie seen by two.... wouldn't work. I managed to stop myself before I insisted that she look properly at the goddam magpie. Blush.
I've turned into a crazy woman Confused.

And I'm not picking up on your carefully dropped bait, best not to get me started Wink.

DartmoorDoughnut · 06/05/2016 22:12

Bra wise it's just to do with not putting pressure on the breast tissue which can impact on milk afaik, wired are fine as long as you have the fit checked regularly I think.

flapjack congrats! Team yellow is what people are if they don't know whether the baby will be a boy or a girl. Basically at the moment I think we're all team yellow unless anyone has done Harmony?? At the 20 week anomaly scan you can sometimes find out if the baby plays ball. We didn't find out last time as I wanted a surprise but my DH wanted to know so this time he's having his turn and we're hoping to find out, once the important stuff is out the way in any case!

MrsJoJo · 06/05/2016 22:42

Twins Shock wow...

Bras - I have been struggling with my bras for about 3 weeks so took myself off to be measured today. I like pretty underwear, matching sets... I thought the selection would have improved since 2007 when DS was born but I don't like the Mothercare selection & John Lewis was simply awful. Came home knowing my current size and have just spent a fortune on two Cake flexi wire bras & matching knickers. Figured that I breast fed for 6 months last time and plan to try longer this time so its worth it!

flapjacklover · 06/05/2016 22:45

Dartmoor Thanks I thought I'd be all prepared and I know all my big decisions but my head is all messed up like it's running a million miles a minute, with nothing going through it. Well I will definitely give a definitive team in 13 weeks but for now team yellow.
I never even thought about bras, my boobs and wire is really hurting, I have one non wired I use at bed and it really helps, but might have to try them in daily wear, not used them in day before cos I feel they make me look flat and droopy, but for the sake of comfort for the next 7/8 months I can deal with that.

StubbleTurnips · 07/05/2016 03:18
