Wow! Thread number three.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FuzzyOwl · 22/04/2016 17:44

Sorry to hear people are suffering with their backs. Hope you can find something to ease it, especially as we are all still quite early on.

Canters I need to be in maternity clothes but am still insisting on wearing my extra large jeans (nothing else comfortably fits) until I have my scan.

fuzzywuzzy · 22/04/2016 18:23

Canters normally I'm not interested in McD either right now I seriously could eat a burger every hour (or maybe even two).
Whoever was saying about carbs is right, I need to eat carbs constantly otherwise I start feeling nauseous and shaky. I've been forcing myself to eat two pieces of toast every morning, don't normally do breakfast.

So glad for the weekend.

likeawestern · 22/04/2016 18:26

fuzzyw that sounds like a good suggestion. It had just been lower back and aching till I woke up today, now it's through my right hip and down my leg - guess it's sciatica.

fedup I figure it's relaxin too, have seen the women's health physio before for post pregnancy issues and she said that it's easier to sort things out in the early stages than through the other side. I'm not sure how long the waiting list is, hoping not too long!! Heat is helping me, hope you can find something to help you too.

likeawestern · 22/04/2016 18:28

Clothes wise, I really need to be in maternity clothes but can't until I've had my scan. Stuck in joggers and my baggiest jeans!

Bollyroo · 22/04/2016 18:33

Fed up and western, it was my sore back that made me go for a yoga session. It was the only thing I could think of to help it. Feeling better for stretching it out. That's interesting that it might be hormonal. Those hormones have a lot to answer for!

Yikes, I'm not a great needle lover either. After one of my previous pregnancies I had so many needle mark bruises from all the tests the nurse asked me if I did drug abuse. Let's just say it was a time that I really needed support rather than accusations.

Fedupithink · 22/04/2016 18:41

Oh no! The best advice I've had about bloods is to make sure you are well hydrated and yours arms are warm before hand. It does seem to make it easier.

I've just remembered I'm on a hen-do all day tomorrow! Cannot think of anything I'd rather do less. Might have to leave the swim until Sunday, I don't want to over-do it.

FuzzyOwl · 22/04/2016 19:48

That's awful Bolly!

An all day hen do sounds the last thing I would want to do either Fedup but I hope it is much more enjoyable than you are expecting and you have a good day.

I am starting to go through phases of being tentatively excited about my scan. This means I will feel so much worse if it is bad news!

Katiekins90 · 22/04/2016 20:00

Evening everyone,
I've been wanting a McDonald's quarter pounder all week! I craved them with my youngest and must of eaten one at least every other day. I made the choice to go vegetarian around 10 months ago so this is a craving I could do with out.
My scans on Monday and I'm at that stage where I'm so nervous that I'm actually dreading it, I didn't feel like this with my other pregnancies Confused
Symptoms this week are major tiredness from about 11am till 4pm when I perk up a bit.
I forgot I have to have more blood tests on Monday I hate them but I've got my fingers crossed I have to have them as that means the scans gone well.

Woody096 · 22/04/2016 20:09

I have been so tired today! finished work at midday & I have done nothing! Supposed to going on a 5 mile hike tomorrow!

I have had cravings for kitkats, salt& vinegar crisps, grapes & apples, the mention of mcD has got me salivating about a quarter pounder especially the gherkins!! Yum

Scan is 9 am Monday, trying not to think about it!

I had really bad lower back, found a hot water bottle was soothing as was the baby cobra position xxx

LittleGreyCatwithapinkcollar · 22/04/2016 20:41

I think my scan yesterday has meant I can now be a bit excited for my 'proper' 12w one. But by 2 weeks time I'll no doubt be all nervous again.
Re. Back pain, mine isn't great. The midwife did me a physio referral at booking as my back pain was caused by DD's very long back to back labour and I don't want to risk making it even worse this time!
Re. Maccyds: I had a cheese burger happy meal on the way to my scan yesterday!!

Today's revelation: I had a cheese-and-onion-crisps-sandwich earlier. Best. Thing. Ever!!!

smellsofelderberries · 22/04/2016 21:18

Fuzzy, I know what you mean but I think you need to listen to your gut about getting excited. With my last pregnancy (MMC where baby never developed) I always knew something was wrong. I couldn't get excited. With this pregnancy I had such a strong sense of not being alone anymore, even before my BFP, so I'm trusting my intuition that this baby is going to come home with us in November.

(I hope I haven't upset anyone by saying that and I know everyone is different, but I do think there is something to be said for women's intuition on these things.)

FuzzyOwl · 22/04/2016 21:41

smells I also had the same kind of intuition when I had my mmc and whilst I was terrified about something being wrong with my DD, I didn't have that overriding certainty that something was wrong. It is comforting to hear somebody else believe the same thing. I really hope we are both right about the power of our intuition and I have a good scan next week.

fuzzywuzzy · 22/04/2016 21:53

I know lack of symptoms is scary, but you also don't have any negative symptoms. I hold on to that.

I can't wait till we can feel those first flutters. At least then we will know there's a baby in there.

FuzzyOwl · 22/04/2016 21:57

Thanks fuzzy and you are right. I can't change the outcome and if I have a happy and positive weekend, it will be so much nicer than normal so that is what I am aiming for. I hardly felt any movement last time and whilst I know other women found their babies constantly moving to be tiring and painful, I loved it.

smellsofelderberries · 22/04/2016 22:15

FuzzyOwl sending you lots of hugs. I'm still nervous too, but it's little nerves rather than that overwhelming sense of dread I felt last time. From all the women I've talked to who have had a loss, they've all reported very similar feelings. I found that comforting to know I wasn't alone in feeling that way.

FuzzyOwl · 22/04/2016 22:22

Thank you smells. It is much appreciated.

LadyFarnborough · 22/04/2016 23:30

Hello. Am joining in now I have a proper due date. I'm 9+3, due 22 Nov. I have long cycles so originally I was due 29 Oct which I knew couldn't be right. Went for my scan yesterday and was measuring in line with what I thought I was. So got to go back and have it done again in 3 weeks. Bit frustrating as I was so wound up and nervous about it beforehand but at least now I've seen a heartbeat and know things are ok.

FuzzyOwl · 22/04/2016 23:34

Welcome Lady and really glad you have had a reassuring scan to put your mind at rest.

JadeT2 · 23/04/2016 02:12

Another one with back pain! Mine is sharp stabbing pains in certain positions when I stand up, twist and walk. But there doesn't seem to be any particular pattern to it. I'm on my feet at work walking and standing for about 30 hours a week and sitting for the other 15 so I think that's antagonising mine. My midwife is referring me to a physio but as long as I work I imagine I will always have this problem unfortunately.

Mine is to the right or left hand side of my coccyx - I can pinpoint exactly where it is so I'm hoping the physio can sort something!

BeedlesPineNeedles · 23/04/2016 07:27

I feel a bit of a fraud, no cravings, back pain or vomiting here! Jeans are getting a bit tight so I've been wearing some wide leg trousers with a lovely elasticated waist. Hoping I can get some summer clothes out soon and wear skirts without tights (possibly wishful thinking as its usually below 5deg when I go to work at the moment!)

Saw my mw on Thursday and she took my booking bloods and nt bloods at the same time. And did a quick scan as I'd had a tiny bit of blood the day before. But we sw a heartbeat and movement so we were very relieved. She's also booked my next scan in June Shock as I won't see her again until after that (no 16 week appointment here). Seems a bit optimistic to book the 18/20 week scan before I've had the NT scan but I'll just try not to think about it.

Its seems like loads have scans on Monday, good luck.

Jamjar12 · 23/04/2016 08:33

Littlegrey, I'm still addicted to crisp sandwiches! Between McDonald's and crisp sandwiches, God knows what size I'll be by the time the baby's born! But it's all I can eat at the moment so that's just how I'm rolling!

Re the scans, isn't it crazy how terrifying they are? I thought they'd be really exciting but I think fear is the overriding factor lol. My 7 week scan made me sane for another week but now I haven't had my letter for my 12 week yet and I'm desperate for it- not to see my baby on screen but just to make sure it's healthy! Good luck for everyone waiting for scans Smile

I'm off to a big boozy day at our family beach hut today. There'll be 37 of us and I normally drink a lot socially but none of them know apart from my mum. It'll be difficult to hide! I might just tell them we're trying for a baby so I'm being good. No idea how I'll get round it otherwise!

BeedlesPineNeedles · 23/04/2016 08:57

With that many people jam will it be a really informal, plastic glasses type party? In which case you could probably get away with swapping glasses with dh, or drink lemonade and pretend its gin & tonic, or buy some alcohol-free beers? Probably no-one will even notice!

INeedNewShoes · 23/04/2016 08:59

Just catching up and sneaking onto Thread 3. I seem to be a bit behind most of you as I'm only 8+5.

My cravings have been completely unpredictable. I had a week of it being inconceivable to go a day without vegemite but seem to have moved on from that. Today I want a cornish pasty. It's just weird!

I'm struggling with my growing boobs. Has anyone found a sleep bra for small back/big cup? They all seem to start at 34 and I need 30 really.

Also I concur re the hard snot. Yuck!

ScottishGirlx · 23/04/2016 09:42

Ineed I'm 8+4 too so you're not alone Smile

Do you have a scan date yet? Mine is on 13th May and I see onthemetro has hers then too Grin

ScottishGirlx · 23/04/2016 09:49

Actually I'm 8+5!!
