Lucky you osirus, hope you're spending your days relaxing. I have 5 weeks to go but am starting to feel tired now.

mrsmugoo · 25/04/2016 13:49

3 more weeks at work but only do 3 days so actually 9 days in the office.

Also my best friend is having an ELCS this week and I'm SOOOO excited to meet her little one!!

mrsmugoo · 25/04/2016 15:49

Best friend sneakily had her ELCS today! Eeeeek can't wait for cuddles!!

cheshirem2b · 25/04/2016 16:00

mrsmugoo how exciting!!!
We aren't making our induction date common knowledge so will a surprise for everyone!

mrsmugoo · 25/04/2016 16:02

I had an ELCS and didn't tell anyone either! Wanted my birth to still have the same level of excitement as all the rest. And I didn't want any judginess about not having a natural labour (even though I was gutted at the c sec)

clarish84 · 25/04/2016 17:10

Had a visit from the hv today I wasn't looking forward to it but she was really nice and I didn't feel she was judging or pushing things onto me as some hv can do x

rew0077 · 25/04/2016 17:10

Hello.
Very late onto the thread
Due 22/6 (pink club)
Finding commuting into London, work, general life and pregnancy all a bit much atm!!
Looking forwards to finishing end of May.
How some of you manage with little people too is beyond me!

JellyBaby26 · 25/04/2016 17:40

We aren't telling anyone except my m&d when my elcs is. Only telling g them as they will need to look after dd.

mrsmugoo · 25/04/2016 17:48

Rew0077 - I remember thinking the same on my 2014 antenatal thread! But you just get on with it tbh. I've been at home with my 2year old all day today - we've done stories, drawing, play-doh, helping in the kitchen, iPad, playing cars, pushing him around on a tricycle the lot! I'm shattered but now he's allowed the tv on. Bath time in one hour

He'll be in bed by 8pm, me by 9!

Roll on work tomorrow for 7 hours on my arse!

MollieRos · 25/04/2016 17:49

osirus I have 8 days left... I can't wait! In the last few days I've found out about 3 of my friends who are also pregnant, due around October/November time which is really exciting- more people to share my mat leave with! Smile

I can't remember if I've already asked this on here, but people who've done it before did you tell people that you'd gone into labour? (except your OH of course!) I'd be up for not telling anyone at all then just letting people know once we're settled after the birth- I just feel like it'd increase the pressure somehow, and I just want to be in a private bubble without people asking how it's going. My DH was really surprised- he wants to tell his parents as soon as labour starts, and his friend's wife recently had a baby and he was texting the whole friendship group with updates throughout, so my DH had assumed he'd do the same. Sounds like a nightmare to me! My DH will be fine with whatever I want, but I was wondering if I'm being a bit precious about it?

Potkettleblack2 · 25/04/2016 18:12

Mollie we didn't tell anyone last time and we'll do the same this time (other than needing to call on someone to look after DS). I definitely liked it that way-as well as the reasons you give, it also means DHs attention was all on me and our new baby rather than responding to others.

iamdivergent · 25/04/2016 18:36

Can't think of anything worse than keeping or trying to keep people up to date. I'll just give them a call once baby is here!

Mrspopper · 25/04/2016 19:06

That's good to hear mindful. I'm only 30 mins from clapham/balhan so good to know there is good advice around.

insideout · 25/04/2016 19:08

Mindful that information looks really helpful thank you

Just thought this was a lovely post for all of you having ELCS :)

mindful it sounds like you had a really tough time, but I'm glad you managed to push through. I was gutted when I couldn't BF DS, but had no support at all from NHS & looking at him now I think he has upper lip tie!

With DS everyone knew I was going in for induction and was constantly being text etc, didn't tell anyone with DD (other than DParents who had DS!) and it was much more peaceful!!

strawberrypenguin · 25/04/2016 19:45

With DS only our parents knew induction date. They were all very good and we had no questions they just waited to be told DS was born - although I think DH did keep them up to date a bit as it took days.
This time my parents will have DS and I plan on phoning MIL at the same time to let her know things have started (we have a good relationship) as it will give her time to travel down to meet the new arrival too (she can't drive)

cheshirem2b · 25/04/2016 19:56

We had an induced labour last time. Told both sets of parents.his parents couldn't give a stuff (a story for another day) & my parents kept texting but it was OK.

This time we are telling my parents as they'll have dd... nit sure if we are telling IL this time. Should speak to do about that.
I'm so proud of dd at the moment. She's only 16m at the start of may but is being super great. We've moved her to her new room 2 weeks ago with a toddler bed instead of cot & other than occasional waking or grumbling she's sleeping great. She knows there is a baby in mummy tummy and gives my belly kisses and cuddles which melts me every time!
In other news... Brixton hicks... oof! On and off all day today & heart burn has been horrid today too. Ah well!

Midwife has referred me to Physio for my back.. All these appointments and I'm supposed to "rest" when they have me back n forward to hospital?!?

*ilovepies will have a read of that article thanx Thanks

rew0077 · 25/04/2016 22:00

Mrsmugoo: I'm exhausted just reading that!!
I think we're going to get the biggest shock of our lives once she's born. Starting to think her being contained is easier!!

emma85x · 25/04/2016 22:44

Anyone else finding maternity leave a tricky topic? I'm due on June 16th (won't go over as baby is v.big) was planning on starting leave on May 27th but DH wants me to start on May 13th as he wants me to 'chill' for as much time as possible. I'm more of a planner and worry about money! Sooo difficult. I must make a decision soon to tell my employer. Seriously can't decide. Confused
