We did not tell a soul that we had started labour or an induction or that we were in hospital. Meant no one was texting or calling and our focus was totally on me and what was going on.
Was lovely.
Of course the doula knew too. She was a godsend!

DH sent some emails a few hours after DS was born after we all had some sleep (barely slept for 3 or 4 days - who knows how long it really was as it feels a bit foggy in that part of my memory!!)

This time only our au pair and DS will know so again no one outside our inner home circle will know!!!

MindfulBear · 25/04/2016 23:28

Hello rew! Welcome. I am also finding the commute into the wharf hellish. Am wfh 2 days a week now as the commute is so tiring it is not the best way to start and end my day!

Have not decided when to start matleave. It will be unpaid so would love to go right up to term but not sure the tiredness will allow for that. Plus standing on my head, swimming, yoga, mindfulness training, chiro, reflexology and so on don't leave much time for work!! And that is even without adding in MW and hospital appointments..... Last time I finished by 36 weeks............ Not sure I will have that luxury this time tho :)

nehagarg · 26/04/2016 08:50

Welcome rew ... Same here. London tube commute and pregnancy just dont mix. Luckily I have the option to go in a little late and leave a little early to avoid the rush hour madness.

Definitely not telling anyone except both immediate families that I have gone into labour. I have already started getting questions like "Is the baby here yet?"

Spent this past weekend doing a preggers photoshoot, by ourselves, at home. I hate posing but DH was very excited so went along with it. Got some really funny ones though!

Told boss yesterday that I might be induced but dont have a date yet so will be giving him no notice. He seemed pretty chilled out. Phew!

Yeh I can get trainers on... First time in 3 weeks... Though I'm still swollen like a sausage...

I'm going to try some yoga see if that helps! Welcome *rew

laughingGnomette · 26/04/2016 09:49

emma25x - I hate to say it but unless your hospital have said they won't let you go past your due date then you still may go over even if your baby is measuring big. I had measurements throughout my last pregnancy as DS was huge and went six days over (he was almost 10lb).

Sympathies booked my legs are disgustingly swollen too. I agree, going to and from hospital certainly isn't restful is it?!

Hi rew - another London commuter here! I've had to work from home this week because my back and pelvis have been so painful I'm scared I'll get to work but will not be able to make it home again. I had a nightmare last night that I was on crutches and no one would let me have a seat!

Eastend2015 · 26/04/2016 10:22

Hello all, and welcome rew.

We had our first nct class on Saturday and while it didn't really teach me anything new, it was helpful to bring DH up to speed. We did feel a little disconnected though, and had to keep reminding ourselves it's us she was talking about!

My boss is being great about mat leave. I am intending to work right up to my due date but told him I plan to hand everything over two weeks before and spend the last few weeks "working from home" Grin

Eastend2015 · 26/04/2016 10:23

P.s laughing that's shocking! I have had to ask on a few occasions but not to be offered when on crutches is pretty poor!

Potkettleblack2 · 26/04/2016 10:37

Emma I'm really conflicted as to when to start maternity leave. I'm due on 3rd June and have told employers I'll work until 27th (39 weeks) but now considering going on the 13th (37 weeks) or 20th (38 weeks) as I'm feeling so tired! Like you, I'm thinking about money as well as tiredness! Ideally I'd really only want a week or so off before baby arrives but it's impossible to say when that will be!

cheshirem2b · 26/04/2016 10:47

Morning ladies!
emma re mat leave I'm starting annual leave on 9th May but I know I'm being induced 2-3w early so able to plan to a certain extent. It us awkward not being able to plan isn't it?
Braxton hicks keep coming here! Bump goes rigid and her bum is sticking out on my left! Haha! Convinced baby dropped down a bit last night too... bump looks lower but I'm also getting a lot of pressure very low down and movements seem lower down as well! Shock

rew0077 · 26/04/2016 11:14

Supposed to be working from home today but have ended up in DAU with reduced foetal movement. Rationally I know it's fine but I've turned into an emotional reck. Ridiculous!!!

emma85x · 26/04/2016 11:15

Sounds like we're in the same boat potkettle. Although you're ahead of me even though we're both considering the same dates! I'd be 35 weeks on May 13th but I'd like to have some time off when I'll actually be able to move!

Is anyone else constantly doing stuff? Every time I look around the house I see something which needs doing... Immediately! I'm driving DH up the wall. All I can see is things to do where as he's much more chilled.

Sorry fort the multiple posts! Damn Mumsnet App!

emma85x · 26/04/2016 11:18

rew Hope all is ok. Thinking of you. Keep us posted x

nehagarg · 26/04/2016 11:30

Good luck rew. Hopefully all is well and the baby is just having a lazy day.

I am at the MDU too for OC and iron bloods and CTG. Its quite crowded today. Getting bored of these hospital trips twice a week. You get no attention when you want it, when you first find out you are pregnant and have to wait weeks for appointments. And at the end when you are tired of the hospital and in no position to walk up and down all the time, you have to come in every other day! Lol.

Another friend just told me she is 20 weeks. I am beginning to lose track of how many people are pregnant at the same time as me. But its so great to have people around in the same stages.

Eugh how boring for you nehagarg. It's the junior dr strike today so perhaps that's why it's busier?

nehagarg · 26/04/2016 14:34

Probably laughing ... Just came home to find a letter from the hospital telling me that they need to redo the 24 hour tape for my heart because the data from the first one got corrupted somehow ...

I feel like crying ... That thing was insanely uncomfortable and I really cannot go through that again .. Going to talk to my consultant this week and see if it is really needed since my Echo and ECG were both normal.

What a long morning!
They were amazing and very patient with over anxious pregnant woman!
CTG fine but I passed out lying on my back (fabulous). Growth scan fine but she's footling breach so now booked in for scans, antenatal appointment and ECV pathway! Fingers/paws crossed she turns!
It was quieter than I expected - think some have stayed away due to strike!
Nehagarg - that is sooooo annoying. Hope they don't ask for a repeat.

Eastend2015 · 26/04/2016 16:16

How annoying nehagarg! How does it work, do they tape a monitor on you for 24 hours? Why do they need it? Glad all is well rew even if the baby's position isn't ideal. I'm a little worried about mine too as the bum and legs have been over on my right side for ages and it's rather sore. According to my midwife though he/ she isn't technically breech as the head is down at least. I have a growth scan at 34 weeks though so they should be able to tell me definitely then!

Had my last call of the day cancelled, woohoo! Am back to needing to sleep for an hour in the evenings so can't wait to get home. I have to finish my art foundation course before the baby arrives though so I need to find energy for that from somewhere!! Carpet has finally arrived though so the house is about as finished as it'll be before the baby arrives, we just need to change over some light switches to dimmers etc. Bank holiday Monday will be spent sorting out clothes and cupboards and actually tidying up 😊

nehagarg · 26/04/2016 16:48

Thanks rew and eastend. It really is very annoying. Yep, They stick electrodes to me and wire me up to a portable monitor I have to carry around. The damn thing was itchy as hell last time andI didnt get a wink of sleep. Not to mention having to go to the hospital twice to have it put on and then again to give it back. I dont own a car and have to take the tube. Its extremely annoying specially when I know my heart is fine. I have had a fast heartbeat all my life and all these tests done in India but NHS wont accept that. Sorry, really steamed at having to do this again. Will definitely try and get doc to say its not needed.

Glad all is well rew. Still some time for the baby to go head down. Mine has been somersaulting my entire pregnancy. Fingers crossed for you

Glad everything is ok rew still time for baby to turn yet!
How annoying nehagarg hope your consultant is happy to not do it again (although good that they are looking after you)
I 'worked from home' today apart from one meeting I had to go to. It was lovely! Roll on mat leave!
