I couldn't post on last thread so hope everyone finds this one!

Great pic annaB and what a lucky girl having four big brothers! I always wanted a big brother and not just because I imagined he'd have cute friends

AnnaR hope you're feeling better now. And glad everyone else seems to be doing ok. I turned 17 weeks a couple of days ago and so so so thankful that I'm eventually feeling much better! Absolutely wiped out by the end of the day but able to eat more now so I think energy will be back soon Smile

DH is off today, yay! Family coming for lunch and the sun is out...happy days

Thanks Mrs creee! Will pm ya. Grin
That's really interesting re the hayfever tabs bobbin I didn't think anything was allowed so will definitely talk to the doc about it. I've read about eating a tsp of raw local honey per day is meant to help... Not entirely convinced but it's really yum so I don't care!

doll did you get a better response from HR yet?

PGP/SPD is starting to hurt quite often now, I seem to have got very big very quickly so maybe that making it worse.
I've a feeling that the baby is not gong to be measuring "average" any more at the next scan!

I've got some compression stockings coming next week which are really attractive I'm going to wear in the evenings and hopefully should control the swelling legs a bit.

Hello, just caught up - don't know where the time has gone! I'm 28 weeks and finished work yesterday. I had loads of holiday to use and I'd rather take the time now than at the end of mat leave. I know that's weird but after DD1 I enjoyed going back to work. And I've got enough hols to wait until this one is 12m before returning.

Folks at work gave me a lovely send off, I was so touched. I wasn't sure if they would be excited over number two! In the basket of goodies were tiny baby gros, reminded me that there will soon be a tiny baby to cuddle Smile

Loving hearing what everyone's buying, happy shopping peeps.

Wow Shares your colleagues sound lovely Smile Have you got any exciting plans now that you're on Mat Leave?

Dilli the local honey tip Works!!! I tried it in college and it really worked for me. I've not done it for a few years now as my hayfever seemed to disappear to the point where I've not needed tablets/spray. It's only in the last few months that it's returned with a vengeance.

bala that massage sounds like just what I need now Envy DH booked me in for one when I was still suffering with morning sickness and had no back/hip pain. It was too early for me to enjoy so I think we definitely need a do-over!

balalalala · 10/06/2016 15:02

Yeah it was really lovely!

shares lucky you being off already! I'm on a 7 week countdown. Have you got anything planned for the next few weeks?

Bobbycatz · 11/06/2016 07:21

Doll how have things been at work?

Shares and all the teachers I'm so jealous of you starting maternity leave.

Luckily my hip pain has mostly gone but I find sleeping more of a challenge, I feel like things needs to click. To add to matters I'm starting to get constant heartburn at night, oh the joys!

Does anyone else feel like it's starting to get close. When I see a little baby, I just think oh my god that's going to be me soon!

Thought I would bring up the list again so anyone new could add themselves.

bobby I get that exact feeling- time is moving so fast!!

I'm excited about my pregnancy massage now.. OH and I have a spa break booked for July

Also very jealous of those with an early mat leave... 8 week countdown!

balalalala · 11/06/2016 13:51

I'm not feeling like a happy pregnant lady today; my neighbour is having a big party starting now and going on all night. Aside from people parking on my land without him even asking us (they have right of way to their garage and so far the car is parked on that bit) but the music is louder than my TV. They seem to think it's ok because they invited us to join... They have said they're having fireworks later too so I'll need to stay up to keep the dog company as dh is out seeing a friend who is over from Canada. Nothing major in the grand scheme of things, but I'm just in a bad mood anyway!

shabbychic1 · 11/06/2016 18:43

In one of our labs we have plastic wombs with plastic foetuses in monthly stages. On Thursday I got the 7 month one out and put it against my tummy and thought omg that's me in 2 weeks! Amazing! And unbelievable, until
I look in the mirror or he moves. He was sooooo fidgety last night, real kicks and turning over, kept me awake and I got about 3 HR sleep! Yawn.... Early night tonight I think! Grin

Dollface136 · 13/06/2016 14:24

Sorry for the silence, we went away for the weekend to visit friends. Gotta get round everyone before 4 hours in the car is impossible!

HR haven't come back with anything helpful besides "tell your manager" whose only response was "You know what she can be like, just ignore her".

I'm not a member of a union unfortunately but I have another HR meeting today. Having talked it through with DH I'm going to tell them I want to bring my mat leave forward. It's clear neither HR nor my manager are going to tackle the issues I am facing so the best option for me is to start mat leave as soon as possible and at least be in good health (mental and physical) for when the little one arrives. I wont get this time to prep again and I don't want to spend the last 2.5 months of my pregnancy anxious, exhausted and teary.

Thanks for the support you guys.

x

balalalala · 13/06/2016 14:56

That sounds like it would be the best plan. Fingers crossed you get it sorted asap. How soon do you think you could start?

Dollface136 · 14/06/2016 11:24

Met with HR and as legally I am allowed to state when I want to start Mat Leave any time after 29 weeks they have to grant it to me. So I am taking the rest of my annual leave which I have to use up and then starting mat leave with last day at work 29th July!

I feel so much better knowing I will have 2 months to spend preparing for LO arrival and studying up on my hypnobirthing without stress and anxiety.

Danni89 · 14/06/2016 12:00

Good on you Dollface.. I'm a week after you. My last day is the 4th Aug! Can't wait

Dollface136 · 14/06/2016 16:55

So exciting Danni. I am hoping the time will fly! Now that I've sorted that I can get back to obsessing about baby books/sleep aids and the like.

balalalala · 14/06/2016 17:36

That's great news, bet you feel much better. My last day is the 28th so we can have a joint celebration!

shabbychic1 · 14/06/2016 18:08

That's great dollface I'm off from 8 th July do have 2 months too, just feel a lot better knowing I can get all the baby stuff and fin sorted then, in a lot more relaxed about it. Ed only gave a small house so it means stuff isn't hanging about either!

Dilligufdarling · 14/06/2016 18:28

doll that's brilliant news! I'm sure you'll be totally invigorated in no time Grin

(Am only a tiny tiny bit jealous!!

Womenareliketeabags · 14/06/2016 18:31

Hi! waves just found this thread.

I'm 26 and expecting DC2 on 04/09.

Pleased to meet you all!

shabbychic1 · 14/06/2016 18:39

hi women congrats on your bump! Do you know if your having a girl or boy? Smile

Womenareliketeabags · 14/06/2016 19:11

No I don't 😬. Didn't find out with DC1 either. I like the surprise aspect of it. Driving my best friend insane she paid for a private scan at 16 weeks just to find out!😂

shabbychic1 · 14/06/2016 21:37

Lol! I couldn't have waited either- you're very patient! Welcome to the group Grin

Womenareliketeabags · 15/06/2016 07:41

Is anyone considering a home birth or had one previously? It's something I'm seriously considering this time.

MrsCeee · 15/06/2016 08:09

Glad to hear you're happy with the outcome, Dollface

Congratulations and Welcome, Women. I had a water birth in a birth centre with my little boy and it was absolutely perfect for me. I'm only toying with the idea of a homebirth because my labour was very quick and by the time I was convinced things were moving along it was pretty intense too. At this point I would rather be prepared at home.
The only reservation service I have with a homebirth is perhaps not being able to set up the birthing pool on time (and the hassle of actually getting a birthing pool).

I hope you don't mind me asking your reasons for considering a homebirth?

Womenareliketeabags · 15/06/2016 08:26

Thanks Mrs a lot of people I've discussed a home birth with seem to think I'm bonkers for even considering it! I'm considering a home birth because my labour and birth with DC1 was hideous, I was induced at 14 days overdue and after 40 hours of induced labour ended up having to have an emergency episiotomy and forceps delivery. The whole thing was terrible (I know labour isn't a lovely thing) but I just want the exact opposite of everything that that labour and birth experience was. I never like being in hospital and feel that might have contributed, thinking if I rely on my natures instincts of feeling safe and cosy etc then maybe things will be less awful.

Annarose2014 · 15/06/2016 08:32

A home birth wouldn't have worked for me last time as my water broke spontaneously (just like in the films lol - My poor kitchen floor! DH had to mop it all up poor man) and then my contractions were only 6 mins apart. So it was too intense from the get go to be faffing with pools etc. I had thought I would take my time at home before going in to hospital but ended up in there within the hour!

So plan one by all means but be prepared to be flexible on the day!

Had a miserable night with spd. Every time I turned the shooting pain would wake me up in agony and when I had to get up at 6.30 with DS I felt like weeping as I had so little sleep.

Not sure what to do as physio did sweet fuck all last time tbh.
