December 2016... Babies

1002 replies

Penguinepenguins · 21/03/2016 18:30

Doesn't seem to be a thread yet for babies due in December, possibly because I'm crazy and POAS really really early but a line is a line and today was my "double check" second day and a BFP it was again!

I sadly had a miscarriage in November found the July babies thread a huge help in my early days of pregnancy and the ladies were very supportive after the MC - I've just returned to mumsnet under a new name as I was finding it a bit painful at one point and went a bit cold turkey from it all!

So here is a bit about me

I'm 38
This will be baby number one for me
EDD 3rd December (know when I ovulated been using the monitor - the app ok many apps I've consulted this morning confirm this as the date

Very nervous after last time but want to enjoy every minute I can, I loved being pregnant before and want to do all the same things as before just keeping everything crossed for a sticky one.

Who is ready to join me Smile

SouthDownsSunshine - it's insanely expensive which is why we're buying just outside of it. We'll be moving to Suffolk in 2-3yrs time to get our money's worth!!

HidinginPlainS1ght · 24/04/2016 12:55

Reintro for me. 2nd baby, 3rd pregnancy. 1st was an early miscarriage after 10 years TTC, 2nd was DC1 who had a genetic condition diagnosed at the 20 week scan and died after a few months early this year and now this baby who is actually due 10th December. I am not planning on telling anyone about this pregnancy until after 20 weeks so hence the vagueness. Nice to read everyone's reintros. I have anxiety and with our history have zero confidence this baby will work out.

BertieBotts · 24/04/2016 13:09

I meant for next time Bigfam :) I will be staying here until I get confirmation one way or the other. We told DS this morning and he wasn't upset like I thought he would be, it is a big relief. He asked if we can tell him later next time which we will.

BertieBotts · 24/04/2016 13:10

Hiding sorry to hear about your DC1. Flowers

SolomanDaisy · 24/04/2016 13:20

Reintro: I'm 39, living in the Netherlands. I have a DS, who was conceived after four years TTC which included a miscarriage. He'll be 5 if/when this baby arrives. Not telling him anything until after the nuchal test results, he is very keen to have a sibling and already has a lot of questions and concerns about death. This pregnancy was after one try. I never really imagined I'd be pregnant again, with my history and age.

barkingtreefrog · 24/04/2016 13:52

bertie the 'berries' have an ongoing thread, all the women on there are over 30, ttc #1 and are going through fertility treatment having been trying quite a while (most of us have been on there years and never had a bfp....)
There is a pregnant after miscarriage thread here] on which all women understand the anxiety, and the recurrent miscarriage thread [[http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/miscarriage/2461442-Recurrent-Miscarriage-Support-Thread-30-Support-for-Tests-Treatments-and-Trying-Again here for women who have had 3 or more miscarriages (although they let me and others in after 2, they're not usually overly strict) usually has a mix of pg and ttc, and again, everyone understands the anxiety.

I was a bit nervous of joining this thread at all, but I'm hoping it will help me try and stay positive. I was very reassured about the number of women on here who have had miscarriages in the past or conviced through IVF, as I know there are others who understand where I am, and why I'm very unlikely to buy anything for the baby until I get it home from the hospital (fingers crossed we get that far)!

barkingtreefrog · 24/04/2016 13:53

Argh! First link didn't work. See here for the pregnant after miscarriage thread.

BertieBotts · 24/04/2016 14:21

Ah I see, I think I misunderstood the focus of the berries, not to worry :) Thanks for the link to the pg after mc thread.

Bigfam · 24/04/2016 14:33

Hiding sorry to hear about your MC and losing dc1, that must have been so hard. I hope you have a straightforward pregnancy this time.
Flowers Bertie, wish I could say something more helpful

Flat Pepsi Max seems to be helping a bit for me, but I might see my GP about the sickness, the past two days I've not really eaten and what little I manage comes back up

rider1975 · 24/04/2016 15:39

Bigfam - feeling nauseous today and finding fizzy water helps calm the feeling

Hiding - was very sorry to hear of your losses. I truly wish you the best with this pregnancy Flowers

Bigfam · 24/04/2016 15:51

Rider I did try fizzy water (all lovely flavours too!) But they didn't work. I'm now sat eating cooled boiled baby potatoes and they're really helping with the sickness from being hungry. DP has offered to take me for an all you can eat Chinese, I can't face that though, the thought makes me gag!

rider1975 · 24/04/2016 16:14

Bleugghh - can't think of anything worse than Chinese - nice of him to offer tho
Yay for potatoes! I've been having plain pasta with heated plum tomatoes last two days. Once I have something in my stomach, cheese n yoghurt work too. Grapefruit are also big news on my list - yom yom

Feefeefs · 24/04/2016 16:30

See rider there's no way I could face tomatoes. Made me feel a little queasy reading that! All I want is meat and bread. And Mexican food altho not today. Today I wanted fruit which was a relief as a bit healthier than normal!

Feefeefs · 24/04/2016 16:31

Although completely with you on fizzy water I might even get a sodastream if this continues as drinking 2l plus fizzy water per day

becciandbump · 24/04/2016 16:36

My ovia app tells my the baby is the size of a blueberry already i can't believe it's growing so fast!

Bigfam · 24/04/2016 16:39

Mmmmm plum tomatoes. Love them! I've still got to bath 3 children yet. I find if I eat too much of one thing that also makes me (almost) gag. I really want a KFC now, a toasted twister meal

ChoChang · 24/04/2016 16:48

Hey all, hope everyone's doing ok.

Reintro for me. Both dh and I are 33, had an early miscarriage and a chemical pregnancy in 2012, been ttc since then. BFP after 1st round of ivf (unexplained infertility) and are due 9th December. Had spotting/light bleeding for 3 weeks after the embryo was put back. Then it stopped for 2 weeks only to reappear on Friday. Been having awful cramps, dizziness and spotting all weekend. Got my early scan (at 7+3) tomorrow. Was feeling ok about it until everything restarted over the weekend but am now feeling very nervous and not as positive as I was before. However, am glad it's finally come around.

Bigfam · 24/04/2016 16:50

Hope all goes OK tomorrow Chang, try not to worry Flowers

Hannahcarpe27 · 24/04/2016 16:53

Hello all. New to mumsnet so completed confused by some of your language. I'm 27 and my 1st pregnancy. Found out last week. 3 positive tests. I'm actually off to Bali for 3 weeks next week and so scared of something going wrong. As anyone else been away early in pregnancy? I think I'm due mid dec to end. Thanks xx

Bigfam · 24/04/2016 16:56

Hi Hannah Grin and congrats.
I've not been away whilst pregnant, but I'm sure one of the ladies on this thread will have been & will be along soon to reassure you x

n0ne · 24/04/2016 17:01

Re-introductions, is it? Hi there, I'm a 37yo Londoner with a DD (3) and living in the Netherlands with my Dutch DH. Last pg was a breeze, with a quick, straightforward labour (wonderful home water birth), but this pg has already been different - suffering really badly with painful joints and muscles. Bloody hormones!! Erm, what else... Oh yeah, we didn't find out sex with DD and won't again, partly cos we don't care, partly cos the surprise is so cool Smile

Oh yeah, I had a mc at 12w back in Oct. This pg wasn't planned - I wanted another but DH not so much (but he wasn't trying to prevent it). Still, I'm starting to wonder if we made the right decision... The thought of doing it all over again is bloody terrifying!

Bertie I'm keeping you on the list for now until your appointment tomorrow to confirm either way, but if you would rather I took you off now just let me know. I don't want to cause unnecessary upset. xx

KitKat1985 · 24/04/2016 17:15

Reintroductions for me. This will be DC2 for me as I have a DD who is 19 months already. She's very cheeky and funny. Grin I'm 30 and live in East Sussex. By my guesses I'm about 8w2d. Occasionally feeling sick but generally managing to control it by eating bloody constantly, though it does make me worry how much weight I'm going to put on. Hopefully once the sickness stage passes I can calm down the eating a bit. The tiredness is bad though. Especially with 5.30am starts for work and a DD who doesn't normally sleep through the night. I've been going to bed at 8.30 quite often!

Hannah I went away to America when pregnant with DD at about 14 weeks, and will be going to Spain at about 15 weeks this time. There's no known risks to travelling when pregnant although I did find in Florida that the jet lag made the morning sickness worse. That's the only real negative of going away in early pregnancy - you may find you struggle to enjoy your holiday if you are feeling sick (but you may not do, not everyone gets morning sickness).

Cho and Bertie hope your scans go okay tomorrow. xx

rider1975 · 24/04/2016 17:30

Welcome Chang - wishing you well for your scan tomorrow. I'm in on Tuesday and it's all I'm thinking about
Hi Hannah - I fly frequently to Norway - just a 2 hrs 20 flight. I found that I was really hot and nauseous for whole flight. Wore really loose clothing, sat in my vest throughout (I'm usually in full coat in the air), drank fizzy water and got an aisle seat for easy access to the loos Grin

SouthDownsSunshine · 24/04/2016 17:30

hiding bless you, what a lot to have gone through. I'll be hoping and praying for a positive and breezily easy pregnancy this time for you.

cho hugs and holding hands for tomorrow's scan. I've got one as well. I hope we all see strong heartbeats.

Re-intro: 36. Have gorgeous pickle of dd (2.3). Had trouble conceiving and 3 miscarriages so hoping for another miracle. I live in East Sussex and love the place. Work in London, hate the commute! DH works part time locally and is mostly a stay at home dad.

Feeling incredibly sick still. Retreated back to bed again as moving at all makes me retch. Woe Wink
