December 2016... Babies

1002 replies

Penguinepenguins · 21/03/2016 18:30

Doesn't seem to be a thread yet for babies due in December, possibly because I'm crazy and POAS really really early but a line is a line and today was my "double check" second day and a BFP it was again!

I sadly had a miscarriage in November found the July babies thread a huge help in my early days of pregnancy and the ladies were very supportive after the MC - I've just returned to mumsnet under a new name as I was finding it a bit painful at one point and went a bit cold turkey from it all!

So here is a bit about me

I'm 38
This will be baby number one for me
EDD 3rd December (know when I ovulated been using the monitor - the app ok many apps I've consulted this morning confirm this as the date

Very nervous after last time but want to enjoy every minute I can, I loved being pregnant before and want to do all the same things as before just keeping everything crossed for a sticky one.

Who is ready to join me Smile

Oh I meant to say yesterday 2 people guessed I was pregnant just from my stomach bump. Shock I showed really early with DD as well (and looked like a bloody whale by the end)!

KitKat1985 · 22/04/2016 13:25

ScottishGirlx I'm very impressed you managed to climb a mountain. I'm struggling to climb off the sofa! Lol!

Brisgirl · 22/04/2016 13:45

Oh Bertie I posted before I saw your post. So sorry to hear about more bleeding lovely, can understand the anxiety even if it ends up being nothing which I sincerely hope it is. Flowers

SolomanDaisy · 22/04/2016 13:55

I am seriously impressed by mountain climbing! DS left something at school and we had to walk an extra half-hour and I had to have a nap when we got in! I am so tired. I constantly have that heavy, need to sleep feeling. I didn't have this at all this time. Has anyone got any tips for getting over it? I take vitamins and am drinking plenty of water.

That reminds me, does everyone with a BMI over 30 take high dose folic acid? I've been taking it because DS had a sacral dimple, but my midwife told me that everyone with a BMI over 30 should take it anyway.

MangeTooot · 22/04/2016 13:59

Babydreaming, great news on the scan. I'm 6+1 today and have had next to no symptoms apart from one very short lived wave of nausea earlier in the week! I'm not complaining, but it does make you wonder if everything is ok. Clear blue digitals have progressed from 1-2 to 3+ appropriately over the last couple of weeks, so I am reassured by that. I have a very important work meeting next week so I'm fully expecting morning sickness to start with a vengeance during that!

Babydreaming · 22/04/2016 14:32

Thanks Mangetoot! Yes I was getting a bit worried when I heard of everyone's symptoms and compared them to my own. I told my mum this week though (which was lovely!) and she said she didn't get any morning sickness either, just felt a bit tired. I'm 27 and this is my 1st pregnancy. I'm hoping it stays like this over the next month as I'm also very busy at work! I have gone off food I like normally though which isn't ideal as I'm slightly underweight and I've been warned by my GP already that i'll have to gain extra weight throughout the pregnancy. I'm just forcing things down at the moment! I don't think you can read too much into how strong your symptoms are as everyone reacts differently to hormones. Fingers crossed everything stays okay!

MangeTooot · 22/04/2016 14:48

We haven't told anyone yet (despite some friends asking outright!!), so I haven't yet had a chance to grill my mum on her experiences! I need to not put on too much weight, so going off food would suit me quite well!

Bigfam · 22/04/2016 14:55

Thinking of you Bertie, really hope everything will be OK.
Also, great news penguine. I bought some travel sickness bands today, the go on both wrists and have a little button thing that push on a specific nerve thing (apologies for my very un scientific pharsing Grin ) they seem to be helping a little with the constant sicky feeling, but not when I feel really sick usually when I need to eat every hour or so!

JojoChuHi · 22/04/2016 15:26

Hi all,

I've literally just signed up to the wonderful Mumsnet as discovered this morning I'm 4+6 today, Christmas Eve EDD!

So strange going from the TTC board stalking one day to the pregnancy ones, but so exciting! We only got married 6 weeks ago so its a lovely surprise.
we had hoped to get on the case quickly as I'm 37 now, I didn't imagine it would be so soon, so feel lucky but also want to stay positive about the next few weeks and months!

Anyway, looking forward to sharing this whole happy experience with you all,

Jojo x

South I have a very forward thinking head of gyno at the reoccurring miscarriage clinic looking after me, and her view is as there is no evidence to say it does harm and it helps some women so as it might help she sees no reason not to prescribes it to everybody.

I'm still waiting for results on many tests, DP and I didn't "try" this month at all! Machine was always low so assumed I hadn't ovulated (I get pregnant super easy just never had a successful pregnancy) So I'm praying it is not something simple that the tests will confirm in the event of it happening it again, trying to be extremely positive finding it very difficult as have had lots of cramps since starting the progestrone suppositories (if you do get it, extensive googling has suggested that using as a supposotories rather than Pesaary is much more pleasant) just worrying a lot this time.

Welcome jojo!

Bigfam where do you buy anti-sick bands from? I'm on and off planes next week and even though I've not been nauseous yet, it will be just my luck to be sick on a flight so want to be prepared!!

TinySalmon · 22/04/2016 15:47

penguine if it makes you feel any better I'm on progesterone too (we have to as part of IVF). Cramps are normal as well as feeling really bloated and uncomfortable. I use it as a suppository too Grin

MangeTooot · 22/04/2016 16:04

Tiny, I have bought some anti-sickness bands on Amazon. They were about £5.

Bigfam · 22/04/2016 16:23

I got them in a large boots in store, they were £7.99. Smile

firawla · 22/04/2016 17:21

soloman my bmi is over 30 too I'm just taking the pregnacare plus, maybe should get extra folic acid to top up?!

jojo welcome, and congrats, On the marriage and the pregnancy!

PenguinePenguins · 22/04/2016 17:29

tiny oh my the bloating has been awful here, I look five months pregnant :) cramps I'm not sure if it's that or baby penguin - just not the nicest feeling but I did have those before during my longest pregnancy :) I'm also incredibly thirsty crying so much over stupid things and feel incredibly clingy... Poor poor DP :)

Think it's definitely "enhanced" the symptoms as I'm just about 4 weeks, but I would happily turn bright purple for nine months if it results in a successful full term pregnancy :)

I am all about savoury foods at the moment and I've found the perfect one... stuffed vine leaves. I feel like I could eat a million of them!

barkingtreefrog · 22/04/2016 18:29

sunshine I have a big bag of 200mg progesterone. If you want it PM me. I'm on 400mg due to the ivf so I'm not using it. It's standard practise after RMC regardless of whether you have any diagnosis and you're only topping up what your body is naturally producing.
Is it worth you contacting the RMC and pointing out you are pg and could do with being bumped up the list? I know others who have successfully done that.

penguin bum bullets all the way, fanny candles make such a mess!! can't tell you how many of things I've used after 5 rounds of treatment

Bertie I passed a 'lump' in all of my mc's and after that the pain eased each time, I was around 7 weeks each time. I think at 4-5 weeks you're very unlikely to see anything, particularly if you don't go looking for it. It's not over yet though, I have everything crossed that it's hanging in there.

I'm totally exhausted and have zero energy. Obviously I don't know how much is a symptom and how much is just a result of the insomnia!!

Sorry Blush
Wouldn't post, then posted twice...

Vb87 · 22/04/2016 18:51

I know what you mean. Feel like even after a good nights sleep, I still have no energy. The bloating seems to have gone down a bit bht the mood swings are starting GrinAngrySadShockConfusedWinkBlushEnvy

ChoChang · 22/04/2016 18:59

Bertie so sorry to hear your bleeding has increased, I really hope it all works out ok, thinking of you Flowers

I've got a tiny bit of brown cm/spotting today. I had 3 weeks of it at the start, but then it stopped and I've had nothing for the last 2 weeks. Really didn't want to see it start again. Got my early scan on Monday so trying to stay calm and just get to there and see.

SouthDownsSunshine · 22/04/2016 19:08

barking thanks for the offer but I'm nervous about taking anything I'm not prescribed. I actually gave up with the local RMC and pulled in a favour with a friend at another hospital and I've been talking direct to a consultant at their RMC. Their protocol is not to offer any drugs without investigating first.

My RMC - I was referred in January. Two months later I got a letter telling me they'd received the referral. I called asking to be bumped up the list, and my GP sent an urgent fax asking the same. Nothing at all. To not even respond to the GP is shocking!

BertieBotts · 22/04/2016 19:45

Thank you all and bless you for all the reassurance and support but I am not hopeful. Am coming to terms with it and will be fine. Will update you when I get confirmation either way on Monday but I am pretty sure already. Brew
