December 2016... Babies

1002 replies

Penguinepenguins · 21/03/2016 18:30

Doesn't seem to be a thread yet for babies due in December, possibly because I'm crazy and POAS really really early but a line is a line and today was my "double check" second day and a BFP it was again!

I sadly had a miscarriage in November found the July babies thread a huge help in my early days of pregnancy and the ladies were very supportive after the MC - I've just returned to mumsnet under a new name as I was finding it a bit painful at one point and went a bit cold turkey from it all!

So here is a bit about me

I'm 38
This will be baby number one for me
EDD 3rd December (know when I ovulated been using the monitor - the app ok many apps I've consulted this morning confirm this as the date

Very nervous after last time but want to enjoy every minute I can, I loved being pregnant before and want to do all the same things as before just keeping everything crossed for a sticky one.

Who is ready to join me Smile

firawla, have a Google about it. It does look like there's evidence that 5mg dose can help prevent spina bifida in women with higher BMIs (though 35 is often suggested as the cut off. You can get it prescribed or buy it on Amazon.

Thisisbonkers · 22/04/2016 20:04

Oh bertie Flowers

Welcome back penguine

I'm still sick. But eating constantly helps. I lost 2lbs this week but now I know to eat, I'll soon put it back on!

SquelchyFelch · 22/04/2016 22:47

Hi all,
Just marking my place in a hopeful way after lurking since Monday. Allegedly I'm 5 weeks today but feeling barely any symptoms, lots of peeing, funny taste in my mouth and not being able to face breakfast.

This will be baby #2 although I did have a mmc before DS so slightly anxious.

Also, let's just say I work in the business of pregnancy. Last time I found this put a weirdly disconnected feeling on my pregnancy, as if I was experiencing one long immersive lecture on what it actually feels like to bear a child. This time I plan to enjoy and revel in it more, if that's possible with a 2.10 yr old.

Anyway, for those of you worried about PV loss in early pregnancy, which of course we all are (obsessive knicker checking anyone?), many women experience this and continue to the end. I have all my fingers and toes crossed for this board, let's all think limpet thoughts!

barkingtreefrog · 23/04/2016 05:13

sunshine that's awful! At least you are getting advice from someone who knows what they are talking about.

Bertie hope you've got a lot of distractions over the weekend Thanks

Hi squelch!

Is anyone else on drugs for immunes (ivf/rmc ladies?)
I'm on prednisolone, heparin injections and intralipids drips as well as progesterone, and folic acid in the form of folate as my body won't absorb it as folic acid.

LittleBear01 · 23/04/2016 08:01

Hi Barking,

I'm an IVF lady, and I'm all on those drugs too (well, fragmin rather than clexane). How much Prednisolone are you on each day? My consultant didn't want me on it at all after egg transfer, only in stims and egg collection -egg transfer period, so I had to convince him and even then he would only allow me to be on 10mg a day.

How many intralipids have you had so far? I had one during stims, and one at 5 weeks (soon after BFP) and due to have one again next week at 8 weeks.

I did post once or twice on a berry thread some time ago, and admit to stalking it, so I'm very pleased to see you here Barking after all you've been through.

LittleBear01 · 23/04/2016 08:02

Fragmin rather than heparin that should've said!

cnchapmanxx · 23/04/2016 08:16

Ladies is it normal to spot blood after sex? Me and DH had intercourse this morning and was tiny bit of brown/light red blood when I wiped. With only being 5 weeks I didn't know whether this was a cause for concern! I have no cramping or anything!

swancourt · 23/04/2016 08:26

Bloody hell, just did a first response and it is lighter than yesterday. Wish I never did it!

Anewleaf · 23/04/2016 09:53

Morning everyone... can I join you? Found out on Monday an it hadn't completely settled in yet! Due 25th Dec so exciting. Have 1 Dd who's 2 and am very excited.
At the moment so tired after work practically konk out the moment I get home. Also sense of smell is sooo heightened at the moment. Hoping for a hg free pregnancy as the last 1 had me unable to hold anything down for about 15 weeks of it all! How's everyone else feeling?

Bigfam · 23/04/2016 10:09

Thinking of u Bertie hope you're OK. Swan try not to worry but don't do anymore (I know it's hard)
Cnchapman I'm sure everything is fine but maybe let a GP or your mw know monday?.

Hi anewleaf and congrats Smile I thought I had a break through yesterday with travel sickness bands but this morning I feel absolutely awful, I had to get out of bed at 9.30pm just to be sick.
I agree with whoever compared this feeling to a horrendous hangover Sad

underrugsswept · 23/04/2016 10:15

Swan I did the same thing when I first found out. Now 6 weeks and still hanging in there so just ignore it. Your wee might have been more diluted or there might have been less dye in the test.

nightcap · 23/04/2016 10:22

Been lurking since the start of this thread... I'm 39 and due number 3 on 19 Dec. Although my last two were both about 10 days overdue so I'm guessing this one will be late too!

Not much in the way of symptoms so far, just a bit of mild nausea and sore boobs. Eating like a horse! Massive curry last night gave me indigestion which I got really badly with my second.

Is anyone else already struggling to do their jeans up? Seems too early so might just be all the food but third time around i think it'll all pop out sooner...

SpaceDinosaur · 23/04/2016 10:41

I'm only 4+1 but feeling pretty upchucky at the moment.

Taking pregnacare since we found out.

Had anyone else had an upset stomach?

KittensandKnitting · 23/04/2016 10:55

swan was it from the same pack/batch? If so may well be just more diluted urine. Another pack it may be less die.

I also read somewhere as something similar happened to me (remember I did 6 dip tests all positive) that the first response aren't very "strong" at the moment, so I'm sure it will be fine - think happy pregnancy thoughts!

space I'm on the max, if I don't have a biscuits before it's vomit central for me :) and I please don't hate me everyone don't tend to get morning sickness... But maybe because I eat a cracker every few hours

swancourt · 23/04/2016 11:07

Thanks so much ladies. It's not much fainter than the other and I still have back ache, stretchy tummy pains and sore boobs. Read somewhere it's only a 2% chance you'll miscarry twice in a row so am clinging on to that and two other healthy pregnancies.

Welcome anewleaf! And congrats!

barkingtreefrog · 23/04/2016 11:30

Littlebear I had one before stims, one during stims, and one post bfp, will have another in two weeks if the scan next Friday is okay.
I'm on 25mg of prednisolone, but I have high nk cells activity as well as elevated levels of th1:th2.
If you've been stalking the berries I'm sure you'll be pleased to know that happy got a bfp this morning, 11 embryos transferred and finally a bfp! Grin
Fragmin, Inohep, Clexane etc are all low molecular weight heparin. I've been on fragmin before but hated the needles, the clexane is easier to get through my skin. I'm mixing them all up at the moment though, using past supplies so I don't have to pay for more clexane at £5.60 per injection until I've had the scan next Friday!!

Chapman wouldn't have a clue. With my history dh is coming nowhere near me!!! Couldn’t handle it if we had sex then I started bleeding.

Swan time of day, amount of dye in the test, concentration of urine etc can all affect results so don't stress too much over the line x.

Hi leaf!

Sunnydays321 · 23/04/2016 12:23

Bertie I'm sorry, how are you today? Has it settled at all? Hope you have lots of support.

Welcome to the new bfps!! This thread is so busy now.

Swan don't worry, I tortured myself over varying strengths of lines and I'm now 7 weeks + and all good.

I feel bad posting this when others are having a rough time but I had my scan yesterday and all was good. Measured exactly 7+1 which is what I thought from dates (prev scan was 2-4 days behind but seems to have caught up). And saw a little heartbeat. Feeling a little more hopeful now but know I still won't completely relax.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend x

TinySalmon · 23/04/2016 12:30

chapman have you bled after intercourse before? If so then I don't think it's anything to worry about. It may just be your little bean burrowing in to your uterus.

Never heard of someone miscarrying because they had sex. I just googled it and there is no suggestion that intercourse would affect your growing embryo. Remember that a lot of women at 5 weeks pregnant don't know they're pregnant and still have sex regularly.

DP and I have been having loads of sex (TMI?!) with no problems. Just because I'm pregnant doesn't mean I don't have needs! Wink

TinySalmon · 23/04/2016 12:32

sunnydays that's such good news! I have a 7 week scan booked 3rd May. So nervous!!

underrugsswept · 23/04/2016 12:38

So many people seem to be having early scans. Where are you all based?

SouthDownsSunshine · 23/04/2016 13:21

Good news sunny :)

underrug most of us having early scans are because of problems or ivf.

Chapman it's probably because the cervix is more sensitive rather than bleeding coming from the womb.

salmon no fun for us until I'm out of first trimester. Boo. Mind you, not in the mood for it!

MangeTooot · 23/04/2016 13:30

Underrug - in addition to what SouthDowns said, you can also pay for a private early reassurance scan - usually £50-£150 and recommended between 7 and 11 weeks

becciandbump · 23/04/2016 13:42

So jumped on the scales this am and ive put on 61b in 6 weeks I read you were only supposed to put on 2-6 1lb in the whole first trimester god I think I'm going to be huge!

underrugsswept · 23/04/2016 14:16

Ah I see. I didn't have any early scan last time and don't really know anyone in RL who has apart from one friend who had some early bleeding. I wondered if you were all in the US or something. Makes total sense for those cooking IVF babies or who have had complications. Looking forward to seeing photos of all these little beans. Not sure if I'll book a private one or not the time. I'd quite like one as I have some ongoing issues (possibly auto-immune) which I'm struggling to get a diagnosis for and I'm a bit worried they might cause problems. Not sure I'll actually find the time though!

SolomanDaisy · 23/04/2016 15:12

underrug I'm not in the UK and some midwife practices offer automatic early scans, so I chose one that did. I'd have paid for one in the UK, due to previous miscarriage. If you want to have one, they're much quicker than the later scans, less than five minutes!
