December 2016... Babies

Penguinepenguins · 21/03/2016 18:30

Doesn't seem to be a thread yet for babies due in December, possibly because I'm crazy and POAS really really early but a line is a line and today was my "double check" second day and a BFP it was again!

I sadly had a miscarriage in November found the July babies thread a huge help in my early days of pregnancy and the ladies were very supportive after the MC - I've just returned to mumsnet under a new name as I was finding it a bit painful at one point and went a bit cold turkey from it all!

So here is a bit about me

I'm 38
This will be baby number one for me
EDD 3rd December (know when I ovulated been using the monitor - the app ok many apps I've consulted this morning confirm this as the date

Very nervous after last time but want to enjoy every minute I can, I loved being pregnant before and want to do all the same things as before just keeping everything crossed for a sticky one.

Who is ready to join me Smile

Seems to be since I got my bfp the cramps have ramped up and my boobs are killing me 😄

Dunlin1987 · 15/04/2016 21:42

You can't tag people but if you put a star before and after their name it will put it in bold.

StubbleTurnips · 15/04/2016 22:05

I'm definitely hypnobirthing this time round, I have real problems relaxing so I hope it helps.

DD (nearly 3) said over dinner this evening she was having a baby sister for Christmas, completely out of the blue. I haven't discussed it yet, and I'm not one for woo. Freaked me out slightly.

BertieBotts · 15/04/2016 22:10

Yep - mumsnet is a bit low tech like that but I quite like that :) Means you end up focusing on what people say rather than what fancy features they use to say it.

weechops - I have had exactly the same. It's weird because I didn't know I was expecting DS this early and yet I can't imagine not noticing the symptoms I'm having! I'm starving hungry all the time, boobs hurt just from walking (except with magical new bra) but have grown to about 1.5x their usual size. I'm not feeling sick and I'm not overly tired but I'm getting lots of stretching/pulling around my abdomen which definitely doesn't feel like cramps, and I've had a poke and my womb is all firm rather than squishy (and if I was actually on my period it would usually be agony to poke around there, but it's not)

I also look about 4 months pregnant already due to bloating and the fact I've never bothered to firm up my tummy after DS Blush But I can suck my tummy in still, which obviously I won't be able to later on.

Yeah I'm not doing very well at this taking things one step at a time business. DH is on board now and it is making me a bit wibbly.

BertieBotts · 15/04/2016 22:11

And I'm having all sorts of whims like I've decided that I NEED to buy a guitar now so I can sing to the baby and feeling all nurturing towards DS even though he was a horror today.

n0ne · 15/04/2016 23:00

Thanks Dunlin1987

firawla · 16/04/2016 00:57

Hey bertiebotts your name sounds familiar, were you on an antenatal club thread for august babies a few years back? Or Dec babies even more years back??

ChoChang · 16/04/2016 07:39

Just catching up from yesterday , tip thats is so fantastic, so happy for you. becci glad you got your 2-3 weeks, its such a relief to see it going up isnt it. Welcome to the newbies - xmas day due date, how exciting!

So i went out to dinner last night with the girls, second time in 2 weeks and ive driven both times, so thats been a good excuse for not drinking. However, its one of their birthdays when ill be about 10 weeks (all being well) and its in the city centre and not something id usually drive to. With taking so long to concieve and noone knowing about the ivf we really dont want to tell anyone til after 12 week scan, especially since we wont have seen family to tell them before then. So has anyone got any tips to excuse the non-drinking - beyond the old antibotics excuse which they would see through immediately?

shopaholic85 · 16/04/2016 08:02

Cho, do your friends know that you have been ttc. You could tell them you are in the 2ww? Sorry if that is a rubbish idea!

StubbleTurnips · 16/04/2016 08:15

Driving excuses - antibiotics, early start, need to pick DH up after, being on call for work, too much to drink the night before!

TinySalmon · 16/04/2016 08:15

Cho I am also pregnant thanks to IVF. Yay for us!

I was out for dinner last night and my excuses of why I'm not drinking have started. I used antibiotics this time but I think that's probably the only time I can use that. Need to make a list of creative excuses.

We were at a famous steakhouse so I took the waitress aside and told her I was pregnant but my friends don't know so please make sure my meat is cooked through. When she gave me my meal she whispered to me that she checked the sauces were pasteurised which I thought was very sweet for her to check.

The suggestion below was a good one! Say you are ttc so want your body to be on top form - they will understand. Order one drink and then nurse that drink until everyone is so drunk they forgot you haven't even had a sip of yours.

Also order a mocktail and pretend it's a cocktail!

ChoChang · 16/04/2016 08:15

Hey shopaholic, no, no one knows anything. Have found it hard to discuss without getting upset over the pa

ChoChang · 16/04/2016 08:25

Whoops hit post by accident! And can see some other suggestions now too, thanks ladies! Basically, no they dont know anything. Have found it easier to just say 'were not ready for kids yet' when asked about it, but I guess i could say were starting to think about ttc so cutting drinking out. Or one of your suggestions above - thanks for your tips! Congratulations on the sucessful ivf tiny Smile

shopaholic85 · 16/04/2016 08:28

That's understandable Cho. I've found it difficult to talk to my friends about ttc after my mc.

Some great suggestions there! I like the one about telling the waiter/waitress or pretending you are drinking by ordering a mocktail.

ChoChang · 16/04/2016 08:43

I totally empathise shopaholic.

Yes sounds like you had a great waitress tiny, very thoughtful of her to check the sauces too - although I think id be terrified of them accidentally giving the game away somehow! The mocktail idea is great as well. Too much drink the night before is a good one too, im a total lightweight anyway so that would be totally believable!

shopaholic85 · 16/04/2016 09:08

I had a little cry to my husband this morning, as I've not had any morning sickness and I'm 6+3. Thirty minutes later, I just made it to the bathroom to throw up my breakfast. I've never been so happy to be sick in my life! Grin

ChoChang · 16/04/2016 09:22

Bless you Grin Grin Grin hurrah for your morning sickness! I can't wait to puke! 6+1 here, and feeling slightly nauseous all the time (combined with being totally starving) but don't actually feel like I'm gonna be sick. DH keeps asking how I feel and when I say a bit sick he says good!

shopaholic85 · 16/04/2016 09:35

Thanks Cho! Nausea without vomiting is actually far more common and a very good sign! I've lost my appetite and normally a big eater, but think that might be more to do with this cold I have. The only thing I could stomach last night was a plain jacket potato Confused

underrugsswept · 16/04/2016 09:41

I'm out on a supposedly boozy afternoon today. Unfortunately I've been struck down with illness and am taking strong antibiotics... Wink

Very few signs here too. My tum is a little more bloated and I've have the odd wave of sickness but barely anything. I keep forgetting/not believing I'm pregnant. Only 5+1 though so very early days.

NotAClue82 · 16/04/2016 10:39

Hello all! Sorry for those of you feeling sick, though I'm glad it's not just me! I'm feeling especially worse for wear today as I had a party last night and didn't go to bed until 4am... Well, at least I'm not hungover, I guess! I've had the results of my thyroid test, it looks very similar to my last pregnancy so I'll be taking thyroxine again. As for labour... My first child made an early arrival at 35 weeks. The labour was long (24 hours or so) but I loved my birthSmile I just hope that this time, there won't be quite as many people in the room when it happens!

BertieBotts · 16/04/2016 10:52

Firawla, no, last baby was Oct 08. I post quite a lot all over though so I've probably come across you somewhere else :)

Last time I didn't start feeling sick until 7 weeks accordIng to my old LJ and I know I was only physically sick one time. I don't like being sick so I hope it's the same again.

Azure83 · 16/04/2016 10:53

shopaholic that's hilarious! I'm 5+6 and really hoping for a mild vomiting session next week. My dh has been putting everything down to other things, for example I'm tired bcos I've been working out or not drunk enough water. So yeah, I want to be sick to prove him wrong..Grin

kittyscot81 · 16/04/2016 11:04

Azure83 my husband has being saying the same kind of thing to me. I've been encouraging him to read the week\month what is happening chapters in what to expect when it expecting. It's deffo driven by having no clue so it's helped him understand but getting him to any research whatsoever has been a bit of a slog!

Azure83 · 16/04/2016 11:19

kitty MEN! I got a copy from a friend and think the book is excellent. Been trying to show dh the more interesting bits as well. He just said since every possible symptom is in the book i can always match something to what's going on. He's just very pragmatic and i think he tries to wind me up for his own amusement...

becciandbump · 16/04/2016 12:45

We are going into Newcastle today and all I want to do is pop into mothercare or mamas and papas to admire baby stuff it's way too soon but just so tempting to take a peek!
