December 2016... Babies

1002 replies

Penguinepenguins · 21/03/2016 18:30

Doesn't seem to be a thread yet for babies due in December, possibly because I'm crazy and POAS really really early but a line is a line and today was my "double check" second day and a BFP it was again!

I sadly had a miscarriage in November found the July babies thread a huge help in my early days of pregnancy and the ladies were very supportive after the MC - I've just returned to mumsnet under a new name as I was finding it a bit painful at one point and went a bit cold turkey from it all!

So here is a bit about me

I'm 38
This will be baby number one for me
EDD 3rd December (know when I ovulated been using the monitor - the app ok many apps I've consulted this morning confirm this as the date

Very nervous after last time but want to enjoy every minute I can, I loved being pregnant before and want to do all the same things as before just keeping everything crossed for a sticky one.

Who is ready to join me Smile

Hello everyone,

I've been lurking for a bit but thought I should join in.

I had an early scan in EPU yesterday after some bleeding. They're not sure that all is well, they measured me at 5 weeks 3 days when I thought i was 7 weeks,
So they said it's one of three options - my dates are wrong and I'm ok, or, I didn't progress past 5.3 weeks, or I am miscarrying.
They scan me again in a week, using yesterdays info as their 'baseline'. They couldn't have been lovelier, and offered 24/7 support.

So I am in limbo, until Tuesday next.

Sorry for the gloom, good luck to you all, isn't this a waiting game, (I thought the 2ww was bad!)

lilydaisyrose · 13/04/2016 10:53

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone who is waiting for scans/news/results is okay - I'm thinking of you all.

Not much news to report here - just boring waiting and not being able to tell anyone! I did tell DH on Sunday evening when he got home - but we just decided not to get too excited like last time or make any plans (we had a m/c last November) and just hold our water until the 12w scan. Which is fine, but its strange as neither of us are really mentioning it (tricky anyway as we've got kids who are often around) so it feels like its not really happening still. I keep getting out my tests to look as it just feels like a dream. My 12w scan is booked for Mon 30/5 - which is brilliant timing as my DH can come - as he's off work for the one day only (he didn't want to tell his boss as she's a blabbermouth and completely indiscreet and as he's a teacher, can't take hols outwith holiday periods).

I'm thinking about booking an early reassurance scan for 9.5 weeks at a place across the road from my work for £75. I really can't afford it, but I really want one. Having this recent m/c has made me really anxious. I feel like there's going to be nothing there. I have a while to think about this so I'll see how things go over the next 2/3 weeks. I lost my last baby at exactly 6w and I'll be 6w this weekend, so every day after that I'll be thankful for.

Symptoms wise, I have had quite a number but difficult to differentiate between some pg symptoms and a bad head cold which I've also had. I'm at the end of my cold now and left with just a slight nauseous feeling if I haven't eaten and some severe hunger pangs. My boobs are a little tender but have calmed down a bit, they were really sore and my nipples were really sore last week too. I've had some sharp pains in my right side, which I'm hoping are just growing pains.

In terms of the boy/girl question, I have one of each already so hopefully won't get these daft comments - in terms of preference I already have a wonderful son and an amazing daughter, so happy with either and also know that you get what you get!

I have a dentist appointment next week although with my kids so not quite sure how to manage that. We don't get our exemptions cards early here - the dentist are normally quite happy for us to tick the correct box which then gets cross checked later, but don't really want to have the chat with my kids' ears pricking up next to me!

KitKat1985 · 13/04/2016 12:13

Hello.

Sunshine - really pleased they found a heartbeat. Fingers crossed for a sticky bean for you. xx

Tipboov I hope you also have good news. I agree with stepping away from google in the meanwhile. Flowers

BabyBumpHopeful I'm assuming you are in the USA? It always makes me realise how comparatively lucky we are in the UK with maternity leave compared to many parts of the world. 6 weeks maternity leave (and unpaid) sounds difficult.

Am really feeling it today. Did a 15 hour shift yesterday with only a 20 minute break all day. Nursing really isn't a good career for knackered pregnant women! I've got another double shift tomorrow. [sobs]

On more exciting news. I have had a letter come through today saying my 12 week scan is May 23rd. If I can get through the scan and all is okay, then I'll start to relax a lot more. Also I know that after the first trimester the exhaustion / nausea tends to lift a lot, which makes the rest of pregnancy more enjoyable.

Vb87 · 13/04/2016 12:35

Hi, newbe here. I found out last week I'm pregnant woohoo!! EDD 14th December. Looking forward to sharing the next 9 months with you lovely ladies X

Thisisbonkers · 13/04/2016 13:19

I've been a bit sicky today. I'm hoping its related to the grumbling cold I have but nothing I'm eating is making it better.

TipBoov · 13/04/2016 14:03

Blueside keeping my fingers crossed for you for Tuesday.

kitkat don't work too hard, you need your rest!

vb87 congrats! How are you feeling?

I'm home now from the EPU. They did a scan (I was surprised as they previously said they had no slots until Friday!) and they found the yolk sac, but no fetal pole yet. They estimate me to be 5+4ish but my dates are 6+1. So I'm in next wed for another scan to compare.
I also have a scan on Friday at the IVF clinic so hopefully they will find a heartbeat 🙏

Brisgirl · 13/04/2016 14:10

Hi everyone,

Ahhh keeping fingers crossed for you Blue & tipboov. How is everyone else doing?

Kitkat 15 hours on your feet sounds horrendous. I have an almost entirely desk job (which is a wonderful rest compared to looking after a toddler the rest of the week) so I have to make myself take long lunchtime walks to get some exercise. I've just come back from lunch though and have had a seriously dizzy spell and thought I was going to faint in the corridor.

I am 5+1 today (I think) so made the mistake of POASing on a digi which is still showing 2-3 so of course now I'm feeling quite anxious about it all! Argh.

cupcakesam84 · 13/04/2016 14:41

Hi all, just introducing myself as new to this group! A bit about me: my names Sam, I'm
31, from lancs & I had a baby in November '15, he's 5 months old today, I'm currently 3 ish weeks preggo, EDD 12th Dec, bit scary to be having 2 so close together but hey ho! X

Nuttypops · 13/04/2016 15:47

Tip, glad they could scan today to have something to compare with on Friday. I think at this stage the measurements are so tiny they can seem a little bit out with a few days either way, so hopefully Friday will be perfect timing to see everything growing perfectly.

Cupcakesam, congratulations! I am panicking a bit at the age gap with my daughter who is a Nov 14 baby, I take my hat off to you with one a year younger! That will be lovely for them growing up together. We are also in Lancs.

TipBoov · 13/04/2016 18:06

Is anyone else really really thirsty? I feel like not even water is quenching my thirst!

underrugsswept · 13/04/2016 19:25

I was like that the first time Tip

ChoChang · 13/04/2016 20:27

tip glad you got a scan, not too long to wait til Fri so fingers crossed you get to see that heartbeat. I'm super thirsty too drinking water all day long at work, still thirsty now and I just had a pint of squash with my dinner.

kitkat I can't imagine being on my feet all day at the moment, I'm nearly falling asleep sat at my desk!

blueside welcome. Hope you're doing ok, it's the waiting that's the worst at this point isn't it. I hope you're dates were just wrong and everything is ok Flowers

Helbelle75 · 13/04/2016 21:16

I'm thirsty all the time at the moment.
I'm finding the exhaustion very difficult to deal with. I'm a teacher and also have hobbies I do 4 nights a week and am usually fine, but I can't do anything at the moment, I'm so tired after a day at work. Don't know how you do a 15 hour shift kitkat !

FlyingSpaghettiM0nster · 13/04/2016 21:33

Hello! I hope you don't mind me joining you. I got my BFP on Friday and I'm 4+3 weeks Smile I'm 30 and this will be our first. I feel like I'm in a constant state of stress! I know logically that aches and pains are normal and there's nothing I can do anyway if things go wrong, wish I could chill out!

Anyone else have an EDD of the 18th December?

becciandbump · 13/04/2016 22:10

Hi flyingspaghetimonster. Congratulations! I'm the 17th I think originally the 16th but think I miscalculated so quite close to you. It's my first too very excited but a little unnerved by all the twinges and cramps x

Vb87 · 13/04/2016 22:12

I'm a teacher am currently enjoying the Easter hols, I know what you mean about the exhaustion. Not sure how I'll stay awake when I go back!

Is anyone suffering from cervical problems? I've had a few procedures leaving me with a short cervix. I've been told I'll need a stitch around 14 weeks...

TipBoov · 13/04/2016 22:12

Congratulations flyingspaghettimonster

Kajlo · 14/04/2016 07:32

Hi everyone,

Can I join you all please? I found out I'm pregnant on Satuday (after 3 years of trying - YAY!) - it's our first, and all going well the EDD is 15 December, fingers crossed!

X

Sunnydays321 · 14/04/2016 07:48

Hi to all the newly pregnant additions to the thread! Congratulations.

I had my epac scan yesterday due to right sided pain, it's not ectopic, phew. But I thought I was 5+6 based on opks and temping but they only saw a gestational sac which measured more like 5+2 to 5+4 with a yolk sac, but no fetal pole. Fingers crossed it's just a bit early. I'm worried now of course that everything has stopped growing, and if I really am a few days behind it means I got my bfp at 6-8dpo which I don't believe.. And I was so sure of my dates from opks temping that I can't help but think the worst. I know that a mm or two makes a lot of difference at this stage though so will try to be positive. Iv got another scan next Friday to see if there has been any change. X

Blueside · 14/04/2016 10:54

I used an online calculator yesterday to work out how far along I was. I was a week out, but still ahead of my scan dating. I'm still bleeding so not holding out much hope until I find out on tues.

Hello to the newbies, and gentle hugs to those with worries.

To those symptom spotting it's worth checking out the Due in Nov 2016 thread to see how the symptoms develop, they're all feasting on chip butties and Pringles to keep the nausea away!

TinySalmon · 14/04/2016 14:15

Hi all!

Can I join? I am pregnant after first round of IVF and due Dec 19.

kippersandcurtains · 14/04/2016 15:28

Hooray for all the new BFPs - happy news, especially after long waits and IVF.

cupcake my first two are 16 months apart - and are now 3 & 4 as the best of buddies. It was a tough first year, but we had moved house too so I was isolated and completely new to an area I didn't know, which made it even harder - but I wouldn't change it for the world now.

sunny, blueside and tip - and sunshine (plus atone else I have missed) I hope the early scans are positive and show a healthy 'bean'. Fingers firmly crossed that we all get through these nervous few weeks…

Still feeling gruesome plus napped earlier on the sofa only to find the boys had disappeared whilst I was asleep. They were with my Dad in his workshop outside - seriously, I need to be careful dropping off when I supposed to be the adult in charge..!!

Mmm, pringles...

FlyingSpaghettiM0nster · 14/04/2016 15:49

I want pringles now!

My mate told me pregnancy is basically sitting around waiting for the next step and worrying about everything. She wasn't wrong! Grin Have to wait another 2 weeks for my first midwife appointment

Insertwitticismhere · 14/04/2016 16:08

Flying your mate has it spot on! I'd forgotten just how much waiting and worrying is involved and it is only 13 months since I gave birth!
