December 2016... Babies

Penguinepenguins · 21/03/2016 18:30

Doesn't seem to be a thread yet for babies due in December, possibly because I'm crazy and POAS really really early but a line is a line and today was my "double check" second day and a BFP it was again!

I sadly had a miscarriage in November found the July babies thread a huge help in my early days of pregnancy and the ladies were very supportive after the MC - I've just returned to mumsnet under a new name as I was finding it a bit painful at one point and went a bit cold turkey from it all!

So here is a bit about me

I'm 38
This will be baby number one for me
EDD 3rd December (know when I ovulated been using the monitor - the app ok many apps I've consulted this morning confirm this as the date

Very nervous after last time but want to enjoy every minute I can, I loved being pregnant before and want to do all the same things as before just keeping everything crossed for a sticky one.

Who is ready to join me Smile

Sending virtual hand-holding tipboov

Think sunshine had a scan today also? Hope the bleeding subsided & news is good.

Flowers to you both

SouthDownsSunshine · 12/04/2016 14:18

Thanks for remembering kippers. I had a scan this morning and there was a heartbeat. So relieved, but I've also been here twice before and gone on to lose the baby. I'm going to try and take each day as it comes.

New EDD of 3 December, a bit later than my dates give.

Welcome to the newbies, and good luck tipboov x

kippersandcurtains · 12/04/2016 14:36

sunshine that is wonderful news. I do understand your need to protect against disappointment (an understatement if ever there was) should things not continue to progress - but for now you are pregnant and there is a tiny new life inside you. I am thrilled for you Smile

I have 3rd Dec as EDD too (for now).

SolomanDaisy · 12/04/2016 14:38

Great news sunshine, I hope it works out this time.

Good luck tip, hope you're not waiting too long.

Feefeefs · 12/04/2016 14:55

Thankssunshine. Glad things are looking up today.
*
Cho my symptoms are similar to yours up every 2 hours overnight and no vomitting but kinda constant background nausea. I've got the heavy legs too underrugswept*.

Liked your post kipper! I keep worrying every time I feel a little better!

I'm finding not telling people really upsetting?! I feel like that's a strange response! But I do feel terrible about not telling. I think once we have our early scan I might tell a couple of people. Also going to a friends hen do in May and they've just announced we're going to do a "wet'n'wild" assault course Confused presuming not suitable for 1st trimester!

SaraAndThePea · 12/04/2016 14:59

Thank you Kippersandcurtains! Hopefully I can book a reassurance scan next week!

Feefeefs · 12/04/2016 15:00

Sorry for the random bold text! Blush

Bigfam · 12/04/2016 15:08

Glad to hear things went well earlier sunshine Smile (I did post just after 12 to say I was thinking of you and tip both) x hope she's OK too

DartmoorDoughnut · 12/04/2016 16:18

Fab news sunshine

Hope you're ok tip

ChoChang · 12/04/2016 16:33

sunshine that's great news, so happy there was a heartbeat.

tip hope you're getting on ok. Got everything crossed for you.

bigfam yes if clear blue digital says 3+ then that's 5 weeks + pregnant. Mine was still showing 2-3 weeks at 5+1, but went up to 3+ at 5+2 days.

Wish time would just hurry up and move on! 13 days til my early scan, wish it was here, but know I'll be so nervous on the day.

BabyBumpHopeful · 12/04/2016 16:57

SaraAndThePea I have pretty bad period pain and it just felt like menstrual cramps to me (which is worrying in itself because you start thinking your period is coming!). Remember your uterus is growing in size so that's why its hurting a bit :)

BigFam the dating ones use the levels of HCG in your urine to determine those dates (attached their graph from their PDF). So while you COULD be 5+ weeks by docs standards, it could also be that you have higher HCG than their range is used to dealing with. In my personal case I took my remaining CB on Saturday, when I was 4+6 and it said 3+. I know my HCG at 4 weeks was 219 and 2 days later was 576. Some people (like my friend) started WAY smaller, under a100, so even though she was doubling (so everything was/is fine) she had a smaller starting point to me.

I'm sure my EDD is going to change because they're using my LMP date at the moment (so I'm 5+3) but I didn't ov (at least) until CD17 so I think I'm more like 5 weeks.

DH and I talked a little yesterday because we're looking to refi the house (interest rates are great at the moment!) and I reminded him that I am probably doing my 6 weeks maternity leave without pay (unless my boss is super nice) so we need to prepare for that. We also discussed other financial stuff a bit and he's seeming less freaked out which is good. We watched a show over the weekend where one of the characters was pregnant and crying about something and her husband said "are you sad about X or just hormonal?" and she said "I can't tell anymore!" so I turned to DH and asked if he was excited about that and he just laughed. :P

So, I know this might sound a bit pathetic but I am actually hoping for some nausea.. Famous last words I know.. but I'm about 5+2 and apart from extra large boobs and heightened sense of smell (and no period obvs) it doesn't even feel like I'm pregnant.
This is our first and I know I'm probably just thinking about it all too much but the first scan feels like forever away! How do you/did you fill the time between BFP and first appointment?!

TipBoov · 12/04/2016 19:27

Finally back from the EPU. I had some swabs and bloods taken, and I have to go back tomorrow for the results, and I have a scan booked on Friday.

The bleeding stopped around lunchtime and hasn't come back, so fingers crossed. I've been googling and it doesn't look good, but I don't want to give up hope yet Sad

Bigfam · 12/04/2016 19:38

Flowers tip, hoping tomorrow goes well and will be thinking of you. Rest up and don't Google things too much, sometimes it can be your worst enemy and make you worry more xx

MrsJoJo · 12/04/2016 19:41

Flowers Sunshine - fingers crossed!!

I got my second booking app confirmed (one with the midwife at my GP surgery on 3 May already booked), another booking app at the hospital on 5 May and my scan on 23 May. Got my NHS exemption card through too...

All good but I have had zero symptoms today after feeling very fragile for the past 10 days...

Hope everyone is doing ok!

X

kippersandcurtains · 12/04/2016 19:49

Hey tipboov what a horrid day you must have had. I agree with Bigfam that you'd be better off banning dr google - there are just so many different experiences out there to make you worried, but literally nobody is exactly like you, so you can only wait and hope and try to stay positive. Be gentle with yourself. Thinking of you and sending plenty of positive vibes for a healthy pregnancy Flowers

azure I didn't get any sickness until 6 weeks, so maybe it'll hit later - or maybe you are one of the lucky ones! I just try to carry on with life, allowing occasional browses of baby boden (!!) and daydreams… I also like to read up on what is happening at each week stage. These first 12 weeks are certainly the hardest in terms of protracted and worrisome waiting - things get a bit better all round once the first scan is over and you hit 2nd trimester.

I do think there is nothing wrong with listening to your body and resting up when/if you can, eating well (if you can stomach it) and getting some good nights sleep in. If it isn't to be, there is little we can do but wait - but looking after yourself is always beneficial, pregnant or not.

kippersandcurtains · 12/04/2016 19:50

jojo my scan is 23rd too Smile. Oo, I had forgotten about the free prescriptions...

Lucymoomoo · 12/04/2016 20:14

Hi all congratulations on the pregnancies. I am due 30th November so just short of December although the likely to be December if late like my first son.

I have two boys already. Congratulations to you all. I have been having a little read here and there before I thought I would say hi.

Xx

TipBoov · 12/04/2016 20:15

I've stepped away from Google, it's not helping!!

I'd forgotten about free prescriptions too! I'm due a dental checkup so will hang on until I get the exemption card.

Bigfam · 12/04/2016 20:34

Lucymoomoo Grin (waves)
Congrats.
Babybumphopeful thanks for the graph.
Well done tip. I forgot about the exemption as well, and I only had my teeth done last month which cost us £700 damn

kippersandcurtains · 12/04/2016 20:35

Yay tipboov good on you!

lucymoo I also have two boys - are you looking forward to every asking if you are 'trying for a girl to complete your family'? I am offering a punch on the nose for every similar enquiry Wink

Nuttypops · 12/04/2016 21:53

Sunshine, glad all was well. Fingers crossed for an easy time for the rest of your pregnancy.

Tip, I hope this week goes quickly and all goes well with your results.

Morning sickness has hit with a vengeance here over the last few days. I had forgotten how awful it feels, this stage just drags! I am really hoping it wears off this time as last time it wasn't fun until about 14 weeks with the nausea, but after that morning sickness suddenly got much worse and I was being sick multiple times a day with it, thank god for an understanding GP who gave me medication for it. Hoping not to have a repeat of that this time. Sorry for the moan, I hate this stage!

MrsJoJo · 12/04/2016 23:11

With one DS and two stepsons (8,8 and 5) I'm waiting for the 'bet you want a girl' comments too! I frequently have complete strangers tell me that I need a medal and have my hands full when we're out with the three boys!

Tbh, I really don't care if it's pink or blue! My SIL had a stillbirth at term a few years back which puts things into perspective - all I want is a healthy pregnancy and baby at the end! Keeping my fingers crossed...

Bigfam · 13/04/2016 06:27

kippersandcurtains that made me chuckle.
Of the few people I've told, all of them have said "you need to have a boy" we've got 3 girls and one boy... I get a lot of looks and sometimes comments if out with all 4, and occasionally when dealing with one of dp's customers if they come to the house, they seem completely shocked with all the children here (coupled with the fact I look about 16 Blush )

TipBoov · 13/04/2016 09:54

Some people can be so insensitive, I think they just look for something to say though! My SIL has 5 girls and used to get so annoyed with all the comments about didn't she wish she'd have a boy Hmm

I have a DS and I'm just praying for a healthy baby. DH has a preference for a girl but will be happy either way.
