December 2016... Babies

Penguinepenguins · 21/03/2016 18:30

Doesn't seem to be a thread yet for babies due in December, possibly because I'm crazy and POAS really really early but a line is a line and today was my "double check" second day and a BFP it was again!

I sadly had a miscarriage in November found the July babies thread a huge help in my early days of pregnancy and the ladies were very supportive after the MC - I've just returned to mumsnet under a new name as I was finding it a bit painful at one point and went a bit cold turkey from it all!

So here is a bit about me

I'm 38
This will be baby number one for me
EDD 3rd December (know when I ovulated been using the monitor - the app ok many apps I've consulted this morning confirm this as the date

Very nervous after last time but want to enjoy every minute I can, I loved being pregnant before and want to do all the same things as before just keeping everything crossed for a sticky one.

Who is ready to join me Smile

The first trimester sucks, there are no two ways about it. Once you start feeling the baby move it is truly awesome (in the literal sense).

Hanch99 · 14/04/2016 16:32

Hi Guys,

Can i join? I'm due on the 19th December according to Ovia and FF :-). This would be my husbands and i first child. Just wondering in regards to symptoms, do they come and go through out the day? I have been having tender breast since i tested positive, but I'm finding that during the day they are fine but in the morning and at night they seem to become sore again?

Ive been in London all week (live in the midlands) with work, so exhausted but excited.

TinySalmon · 14/04/2016 16:52

Yay Hanch we have the same due date!! Also my first (second for DP)!

I have had very sore boobs for about 8 days now. I get really sleepy around 2pm the last couple of days but it comes and goes. I get cramps in the morning too but have noticed only in the morning.

I have been reading baby books and it says feeling lethargic is normal and by end of next week we should really start to be feeling traditional pregnancy symptoms like morning sickness. Eek!

TinySalmon · 14/04/2016 16:54

Haha kippers! GrinYou made me have a good giggle

becciandbump · 14/04/2016 18:36

I'm finding that im desperately counting the days will be 5 weeks on Saturday I wish I could be just a little further on so I could book a private early scan but would around 8 weeks be a good time?? Ive realised there is going to be a lot of waiting in the next 8 months im going to have to become more patient I think x

DartmoorDoughnut · 14/04/2016 18:44

First tri sucks, don't know how people with full on MS cope, I'm just constantly queasy but it's horrible!! Trying to keep up with a toddler and failing miserably too which is making me feel so guilty, can't wait for the second tri and scans!

kippersandcurtains · 14/04/2016 18:54

God, I feel so much worse this time - either I have forgotten/am in denial about the ghastliness from my last two pregnancies, or this one is actually worse. Trying to feel better about it as this is our last child and so my last pregnancy. However it is really quite impossible to cherish the feeling when I just want to barf all day long. Or sleep. Or even sleep-barf.

Teeny bit concerned that we are off on our jollies next week for a fortnight in Mallorca - and me feeling quite useless. I think DH had lovely evenings in the late sunshine with cold glass of wine and chats into the late night (plus bonking, let's face it) in mind. Whereas the reality may be a slight disappointment. Oops.

I have bought some travel sickness wrist bands, which supposedly put pressure on rem, pressure points and magically stop sickness. Tell me they work someone?? I am bad enough on English roads, but pregnant plus windy mountain roads may well send me over the edge .

Anyway - bath time is over, DH doing books, am off to kiss goodnight and then collapse in heap. I have bought us a 'bung in the oven' meal as I knew I'd be bushed ce soir. Have good evenings all

SouthDownsSunshine · 14/04/2016 19:02

Congratulations to newbies, and hugs to others that are having bleeding. I've got the confusing muddle of bleeding and awful sickness.

The first trimester is awful and lasts so long. My 12 week scan date came through today - it's in late May. I can't believe it's so far away.

Mini victory today - I managed to eat a salad for lunch! First plate of fresh food I've managed in weeks.

shopaholic85 · 14/04/2016 19:10

becciandbump, most places will do early scans from 6 weeks but there is more chance of seeing something the further along you are. I'm 6+1 today and have mine booked got 7+3.

Stargirl84 · 14/04/2016 19:30

Hi, can I join?

Due 20th December, I think, although my cycles are irregular so it's hard to tell. After a miscarriage in February I am so nervous about this pregnancy and just want the first trimester to be over with! Super excited though and am hoping to have a private early scan at 9 weeks, all being well.

Bigfam · 14/04/2016 19:49

Hugs and support for everyone that needs it in the next week or so, hope you all receive the news you want Flowers

Hi to all the new ladies and congrats.

I am absolutely exhausted, but the other children (excluding the youngest who's 15 months) are really trying to behave themselves Smile
There's just less than a year between my 7 and 6 year old (15th and 19th of Dec.
I'm starting to feel a bit iffy when I wake up now but I know from experience if I eat (even if I really don't want to!) I can usually stop myself from actually being sick..

becciandbump · 14/04/2016 20:14

Thanks shopaholic im going to look into it x

BertieBotts · 14/04/2016 20:25

Hello, can I cautiously pop my head in?

Got my BFP (though it was decidedly unbig and unfat) on Tuesday. Tested again yesterday and slightly stronger but still extremely faint. It's definitely there, though.

However AF hasn't turned up, boobs are about 1.5x their usual size, even DH noticed that unprompted today (he has been staunchly refusing to believe anything is happening), can feel CONSTANT stretching and pulling which is not at all like AF cramps and I'm eating like a horse and keep smelling phantom smells which turn out to be something extremely innocuous. I accused my 7 year old of needing a shower earlier and I think it was DH from across the room Blush I also had a tiny hint of heartburn this morning which I really hope isn't going to become a regular feature!

I was planning to test again every day to see it getting stronger but then thought DH might be feeling left out (he is a bit disapproving about the tests because he thought I was obsessing - hahahaha!) so I decided to just wait until the weekend. I know I'm pregnant - whether it'll make it through the next week and a half is what I'm not sure of! Whether faint lines mean it's not strong in some way or they just mean I ovulated later than my app said, I don't know. But roll on Sunday :)

I am 4w4d by LMP, 27, married 2 years, DS aged 7 from previous relationship. DH's first baby! Using LMP I would be due 18th December. I don't know whether I slightly want to have ovulated later so I get the 25th Dec due date!

We live in Germany but I had DS in the UK so it will be interesting to see how things are different. I have to find my own midwife here which is very strange, you don't just get allocated one. In theory that's good because you can choose, but in reality, there is a bit of a shortage, so it can be difficult. I will literally have to start phoning around on Monday assuming we get a strong test on Sunday. I'm tempted to buy a digital one because DH thinks he won't believe it's real just from a test. He's seen the line on the other one already but still isn't really sure.

BertieBotts · 14/04/2016 20:26

Kippers I used them last time with DS and found that they definitely kept the edge off so I could work! They get a bit itchy/annoying after a while but I found if I took them off I'd have a huge wave of nausea, so they were doing something.

BertieBotts · 14/04/2016 20:32

Also I meant to add. We are being quite cautious due to the faint test but also because DH has a balanced translocation which means there is a 50% chance we could have a baby with chromosomal abnormalities. Most (over 99%) of the time this results in either non-implantation, a chemical pregnancy or a miscarriage. So we have reached only milestone #1 so far which is the first positive test :)

Milestone #2 will be a stronger test and getting to week 6 which will rule out a chemical. I don't want to think past that point at the moment. Once we get there, I'll be discussing with whoever I end up seeing - midwife, gynaecologist, whatever it is! I don't know! Shock What the next step is. Whether there is testing we can have. I know a bit about it from my own research but of course a lot depends on what is offered/covered.

becciandbump · 14/04/2016 20:48

Good luck bertiebotts sorry things are a bit more complicated at your end I'll be thinking of you in the coming weeks xx bec

underrugsswept · 14/04/2016 21:03

Welcome, Bertie! I'm 4+6 so we are very close together.

BertieBotts · 14/04/2016 21:24

Ah thanks Becci. :)

Under I think I recognise you from some of the TTC threads! Or somewhere, anyway... yay, we're almost twins Grin

(Does anyone else have baby brain already? Blush)

underrugsswept · 15/04/2016 06:27

Yep, I've been on a few of the buses and am still lurking on the April one to watch the BFPs roll in. I've had baby brain since DS arrived over 2 years ago Blush.

ChoChang · 15/04/2016 07:03

Welcome Bertie Hope your line gets darker and you progress to your milestones without too much stress.

I'm exactly 6 weeks today and have woken up feeling significantly sicker than previously. I'm out with friends for dinner tonight, hopefully it'll have eased off by then.

Hanch99 · 15/04/2016 07:20

Hi Tiny, what baby books are you reading? Smile

Does anyone recommend any books for men? Or apps?

BertieBotts · 15/04/2016 07:57

Well the tests are getting darker sooooo slowly that DH wants me to go to the GP to get them to confirm :o Luckily we're in Germany, I think I'd be laughed out of my English GP for asking! I'm a bit nervous but will eat my massive breakfast #1 and go...

I can recommend the subreddit predaddit if your DH is open to forums/uses reddit at all. I don't know if there are any better books around now but when I had DS the only books around aimed at men were all aimed squarely at the beer swilling, sex obsessed, unable to understand a simple concept without football metaphors dad. Confused

TinySalmon · 15/04/2016 08:10

Hi hanch and morning December Babies Ladies!

I bought What to Expect When You're Expecting which is stack full of information, like more than I thought I'd need.

I also bought 'Healthy Eating in Pregnancy' and 'The Clean and Lean Pregnancy Guide' by James Duigan. Very useful! I'm worried about what I should be eating and how to stay as healthy as poss during pregnancy.

shopaholic85 · 15/04/2016 08:18

Good luck BertieBotts

Hanch, if you're looking for an app for expectant dads, I've seen one called 'Who's the Daddy' mentioned before but not tried it myself. I've added my DH's email to my Ovia app so he gets the daily digests. I make a point of not reading them, so that he can enjoy telling me what they says.

I'm 6+2 and no symptoms other than swollen boobs and tiredness. Starting to feel worried and anxious that there is something wrong. Don't have my early scan for another 9 day.

BertieBotts · 15/04/2016 09:19

Well the receptionist spoke to me rather than the doctor. I like her, so that's ok.

She suggested my cycles are too irregular to know when I was due, meaning it's likely it's too early. I'm to test again Monday with a clearblue, and then make an appointment with the gynecologist, who will do an ultrasound straight away! Shock so that's exciting.
