December 2016... Babies

1002 replies

Penguinepenguins · 21/03/2016 18:30

Doesn't seem to be a thread yet for babies due in December, possibly because I'm crazy and POAS really really early but a line is a line and today was my "double check" second day and a BFP it was again!

I sadly had a miscarriage in November found the July babies thread a huge help in my early days of pregnancy and the ladies were very supportive after the MC - I've just returned to mumsnet under a new name as I was finding it a bit painful at one point and went a bit cold turkey from it all!

So here is a bit about me

I'm 38
This will be baby number one for me
EDD 3rd December (know when I ovulated been using the monitor - the app ok many apps I've consulted this morning confirm this as the date

Very nervous after last time but want to enjoy every minute I can, I loved being pregnant before and want to do all the same things as before just keeping everything crossed for a sticky one.

Who is ready to join me Smile

My mum had sussed it out already! We only did the test on Tuesday, but I'd seen her on the Sunday and she said I had that look about me!
We have told close family, although most of them kind of knew. We got married last September and are older so people are starting to look for signs.
It's funny how procedures differ from place to place. I saw the doctor on Friday, and my midwife appt is for when I'm exactly 8 weeks.

Chookchick · 11/04/2016 07:13

Hi there ladies! Please can I join? I'm a long time lurker and I'm really happy to see v. familiar names from a certain TTC thread. Thank you! you know who are, without you I would have POAS too early and gone (a bit more) mad in the process. It has been 4 months trying for our first. I'm 5 weeks today, EDD 13th Dec Planning our wedding on the 2nd July, EEeeeek. Congratulations to everyone! Here's hoping for a smooth ride for all of us!

ChoChang · 11/04/2016 07:13

So as expected I caved in and po my last clear blue digital this morning and it changed to 3+ weeks! I am so relieved Smile

NotAClue82 · 11/04/2016 07:49

Wow lots of new people! Congrats everyone! I'm 5+5 now. Other than sensitive (tingling?!) breasts I have no symptoms yet, or perhaps I do but they are masked by a horrific cold I've had for days! I've been aching all over & feeling terrible. Luckily I'm not due into work till later this week, so I have a few days to recover (with a toddlerHmm)....

DartmoorDoughnut · 11/04/2016 08:35

Feeling a bit nauseous which I didn't have last time so am hoping that won't progress into full blown MS! Other than that no symptoms really, having some vivid dreams and occasionally dizzy when in lifts?! I think I'm 5+1

underrugsswept · 11/04/2016 08:40

Booked in with the midwife now. My appointment is 20 mins apparently so not sure if it's proper 'booking in' or the pre-appointment. I'll be 7.5 weeks by that point, all being well.

Babydreaming · 11/04/2016 09:10

I did the same ChoChang! Unbelievably happy to see it go to 3+ weeks. I've had to promise my fiancee no more tests from now on though! We can both relax a little more now :)

Youngoldmum · 11/04/2016 09:13

Just found out I'm also having a December baby. Like OP I am 38 but this is baby 2 for me. 14 months TTC and one chemical so can't really believe it yet! I should be due 15th Dec which is 4 days before my first turns 8!!

kippersandcurtains · 11/04/2016 09:47

Hello peeps
notaclue I turned 6 weeks on Saturday, and BOOM the nausea and unbelievable tiredness hit full force. Sorry Wink you may not be an avoider, I felt absolutely 100% up till then and was starting to think I'd breeze through it…
Vivid dreams too.
Hooray for newbies and their BFPs - and a summer wedding too, congratulations chook.

Thisisbonkers · 11/04/2016 09:52

I'm now 6+1 with no symptoms kippers Grin I'm tired but had a full on weekend. A bit of nausea last night but hadn't eaten properly all day. I'm making a list of questions for the midwife on Friday Blush silly little things that she'll laugh me out of the place with, I'm sure.

Bigfam · 11/04/2016 10:13

I have contacted the GP and they've taken my details and will pass them on to the local mw, who will in turn contact me.
I'm a bit worried though, I was taking microgynon (pill) and I missed a fair few over the past couple of months, but my period has been EVERY two weeks for around 6 months. I recently had a cervical smear, which came back fine, I'm just worried that maybe my hormones are imbalanced & that's what caused my irregular period & if it is, will it have any affect on the pregnancy? I might go to the doctor and just explain my fears...

Thisisbonkers no worries, I think they've heard it all, she'll put you at ease I'm sure. Smile

kippersandcurtains · 11/04/2016 11:13

Show off bonkers. I am sick as a pig. Eating salt & vinegar crisps.

underrug that doesn't sound long for a booking in appt? Mine will be at 8 weeks too, but will take up to 2 hours (and this is for a third pregnancy, but perhaps it is different in each town/postcode). They ask a billion questions (including is you are related to your husband, have been circumcised (you, not partner) and if you are a victim of domestic abuse). I'm sure your questions will be answered bonks, but never be afraid to ask!

bigfam I am no expert at all, but I'd guess that if your body has become pregnant, your hormones must be pretty much in synch despite wonky periods - it's pretty bloody amazing that any of us get pregnant if you consider the odds. Anyway, I'm sure all is fine but do ask your GP to put your mind at rest.

It was my youngest's first day at preschool today - now they are both going for 3 full days a week. It feels very quiet indeed here at home...

Bigfam · 11/04/2016 11:57

kippersandcurtains thanks for reassuring me Smile
My four year old goes to pre-school 3 days a week as well, she'll be starting infant school with her big brother and sister in sept, when baby 5 arrives I'll have a (just about to turn) 2 year old at home too.

Bigfam · 11/04/2016 12:01

I'm dreading when morning sickness kicks in, definitely should be called 'all the time sickness' I usually get it through out the whole pregnancy as well, although later on it's more to do with hunger sickness so it's easy to beat Grin but early on I hate eating, every smell makes my stomach roll. Ah the joys, whilst I'm still in love with food for the time being I don't mind eating loads!

SouthDownsSunshine · 11/04/2016 12:17

I've put on so much weight already from constant eating to keep the sickness at bay.

I started bleeding yesterday, so I suspect that'll I'll lose this baby. Scan planned for Wednesday, unless I can get one tomorrow - waiting to hear from EPU.

kippersandcurtains · 11/04/2016 12:22

((((sunshine)))) I truly wish that your bleeding doesn't mean a loss for you. Rest up and try try try to stay positive - fingers crossed you can get an earlier appt.

underrugsswept · 11/04/2016 13:22

Fingers crossed for you sunshine. I know a couple of people who bled early on and went on to have perfectly healthy babies. Thanks

Yeah, 20 mins doesn't sound long. Hopefully it's not a pre-booking one, that was a waste of time last time!

SouthDownsSunshine · 11/04/2016 13:26

I've got a scan tomorrow morning, at a better hospital with a recurrent miscarriage unit. I've been here 3 times before, but this pregnancy felt so strong.

Thisisbonkers · 11/04/2016 13:40

sunshine Flowers

Bigfam · 11/04/2016 14:44

Also crossing my fingers for you sunshine xx

KitKat1985 · 11/04/2016 15:03

Oh SouthDownsSunshine I hope it goes okay for you tomorrow. Thinking of you. Flowers

Brisgirl · 11/04/2016 15:33

Oh sunshine sorry to hear - fingers crossed it's not what you're expecting to hear tomorrow Flowers
Hey chook - fun to have a due date buddy and congrats on the wedding! Exciting year ahead!
dartmoor 5 weeks tomorrow and feeling very dizzy with slight waves of nausea here too! I had no symptoms with my last pregnancy so have a feeling this one is going to be very different!
DC1 has just had a 3 hour afternoon nap which has meant I could have a little one too - long may those continue! It looks like there will be a few of us with two under two when these December babies come - eek! I swing between excited and terrified a hundred times a day Confused

DartmoorDoughnut · 11/04/2016 16:41

Fingers tossed for you sunshine

My DS will be 2 and a little bit by December Bris but he's a total non stop whirlwind so I reckon it'll feel like 2 under 2!

DartmoorDoughnut · 11/04/2016 16:41

*Crossed

Theaks · 11/04/2016 16:51

Hope scan goes ok Southdownshine. So worrying isn't it, I had a little bleed a week ago and was convinced that it was bad news again for us. I will keep everything crossed for you.

I have my first midwife app at 9.4 seems so far away. Last time round I saw her at 7 weeks. Just wanting the days to whizz now!

It's my birthday today and woke up feeling dreadful. My hubby took me out for afternoon tea and the hotel gave us a glass of prosecco as a extra birthday treat! Was gutted I couldn't drink it. But enjoyed the strawberry off the side.

I'm so glad that my parents know. Makes it so much easier (in laws don't yet). My dad is even doing my ironing for me as he wants me to take things easy and he thinks my iron is too heavy. He asks me everyday how I'm feeling and when I say I have been sick he replies good! Ha ha!
