December 2016... Babies

Penguinepenguins · 21/03/2016 18:30

Doesn't seem to be a thread yet for babies due in December, possibly because I'm crazy and POAS really really early but a line is a line and today was my "double check" second day and a BFP it was again!

I sadly had a miscarriage in November found the July babies thread a huge help in my early days of pregnancy and the ladies were very supportive after the MC - I've just returned to mumsnet under a new name as I was finding it a bit painful at one point and went a bit cold turkey from it all!

So here is a bit about me

I'm 38
This will be baby number one for me
EDD 3rd December (know when I ovulated been using the monitor - the app ok many apps I've consulted this morning confirm this as the date

Very nervous after last time but want to enjoy every minute I can, I loved being pregnant before and want to do all the same things as before just keeping everything crossed for a sticky one.

Who is ready to join me Smile

I've not even told DH yet and I've known for a week tomorrow (he's away)! I had a miscarriage in November and feel incredibly anxious about this pregnancy - considering not telling anyone (except DH who will find out on Monday when he's home) until 16w. We'll tell kids first, then parents then everyone else.

I'm 5w now, I can't believe I've only known a week, it feels like forever. I have had a few mild symptoms - bloating, runny bum (sorry), big hunger pangs, watery discharge, hot flushes and dizziness, mad busy dreams and extreme exhaustion - I feel like I'm about 100 yrs old. My skin is randomly incredibly sensitive too - I went to get my eyebrows threaded on Thurs and she had to stop as my skin directly under my eyebrows was extremely irritated and bleeding! I don't enjoy threading and find it very painful, but definitely don't usually have such an extreme reaction!!
Welcome to everyone and congratulations - remember to add yourselves to the list!

ChoChang · 09/04/2016 21:15

Dunlin how scary to have a bump in the car, I bet you really panicked. Great to get the scan and rid of any fears of ectopic pregnancy though. Congratulations.

My boss already knows as I've needed to go to loads of appointments for investigations and then ivf so I told him and he's been really supportive and flexible with my work. I also had a massive meltdown at work on Friday blubbing my eyes out as I've been having spotting since before getting my bfp which is on going, but got a lot worse on thurs/fri and I thought I was starting with another miscarriage. So I'm glad he knew so I could tell him why I was so upset (it's calmed down again now so hoping things are ok). Still planning on telling family after 12 weeks scan. It does feel weird that work know before family but at the moment I don't feel comfortable letting anyone else know.

Becci Could you say you have a hospital appointment? You shouldn't need to give any more details if you say that would you?

becciandbump · 09/04/2016 21:30

Yes I was thinking about saying hospital appointment Id like to tell my mum before I tell my work colleagues so Id rather work not know just yet that it's a midwife im going to see x

ChoChang · 09/04/2016 21:36

Yeah I feel the same, I've asked my boss not to tell anyone else at work. I'd say hospital appointment under normal circumstances.

becciandbump · 09/04/2016 21:54

I do like my boss and trust her and to be honest she may have to find out as I work on a hospital ward and I imagine all the smells are going to make me wretch in a few weeks

underrugsswept · 09/04/2016 23:04

Becci will that be your first appointment or your proper booking in one? My Dr did a pre- booking in one last time which took 10 mins and was basically just setting up a maternity record with the hospital and giving me some leaflets. I'm sure my booking in one wasn't any longer than 30 mins either.

I've told DH, my sister and my best friend. Going to wait a little while now as I don't want grandparents getting too excited just in case.

Bigfam · 10/04/2016 09:00

Congrats to everyone. Poor you dunlin, even small bumps can be scary, glad you're OK.
I've been so tired but (already) can't sleep properly at night. I was actually thinking of waiting to see the GP for a referral to the mw, just because it will drag til the first appointment, with my second I didn't book in with a mw (as we were moving) until 16 weeks and went for a scan 2 weeks later, the time passed quickly because I wasn't obsessed with when I would see a mw!

MangeToooot · 10/04/2016 09:19

Only my DH knows so far. I'm super cautious about telling anyone this early as I will feel like I jinxed it. Both the people who told me when they were 4-5 weeks pregnant went on to have miscarriages which makes me so wary. We have an early scan booked so will tell parents and siblings and maybe best friends at that point. I don't intend to make any kind of general announcement at all after that and will probably just tell people as I see them after I can't hide it anymore.

Also worried about telling SIL as she has been trying for a while and had a couple of miscarriages. So difficult to know when the right time to tell her will be, and how to tell her.

I feel like I need to tell my work soon because of what I do, but I don't want to tell them before I tell my parents. Fortunately I have a few weeks off coming up so I can delay telling work until after that.

becciandbump · 10/04/2016 11:05

Underrugswept this will be my first midwife appointment and I was told it would be 1 hour long im suprised that I won't have seen a midwife until I'll be nearly 10 weeks im going to phone up and ask when my scan will be I don't want to arrive at 10 weeks to find there is a waiting list x

MangeToooot · 10/04/2016 11:12

My booking appointment is at 6.5 weeks, which I think is far too early!

underrugsswept · 10/04/2016 12:19

Maybe they skip straight to Booking where you are. It makes more sense to be honest!

becciandbump · 10/04/2016 14:22

Think I just have lots of questions im high risk for gestational diabetes because of medication I have to take while pregnant so just wish the appointment was sooner x

Thisisbonkers · 10/04/2016 15:57

My parents know (mum needs to know because we share a high risk hobby) and a couple of close friends. I don't want to tell DP's mother at all as I don't want the ott fall out! Tempted to tell her the night before we go away for two weeks if we have to at all!

Work is tricky. I don't want to say until I need to. But having lots of 'hospital appointments' for fertility investigations, I'm starting to feel I'm taking the piss a bit now. I've taken a half day holiday for Friday's midwife appointment.

6 weeks today. Still no symptoms Grin . I'm always eating (piggy) so I'm not classing it as a symptom!

KitKat1985 · 10/04/2016 16:10

My booking appointment is at 7 weeks. I think 7-9 weeks is about normal around here.

Sorry to hear bout your car bump Dunlin. xx

Tiredness and sickness is starting to kick in more strongly now.

My work and close family and friends know. I won't tell the world until after the first scan, all going well though.

Dunlin1987 · 10/04/2016 17:24

Thank you. Feeling fine though now.

Just wondering has everyone got their booking appointments already? I had to fill a referral form 2 weeks ago and still waiting for even a letter with the appointment date! Feeling really impatient.

Feefeefs · 10/04/2016 18:09

I'm hungry and sickie becci definitely feel less sick if I eat!

My booking in appointment will be 9+4 i think it's normal. Booked a private early scan 23rd April think it'll feel more real and put our minds at ease
Plus

Going to my best friends hen do weekend away just before my 12 week scan and it's going to be fairly obvious but I feel like I can't tell them before our parents so we're going to have our early scan and then see the midwife and tell the parents probably 11+4.

Babydreaming · 10/04/2016 19:37

Hey! I'm a newbie to this thread, I tested positive on Easter Sunday and think I'm currently 5w1d! I'm really happy about it but very anxious as I had a chemical pregnancy in Jan. Has anyone been using clear blue tests to track how far you are? I did one 1 week ago and was 2-3 weeks and then repeated this morning but unfortunately it still said the same! I still have symptoms e.g breast tenderness but not very much sickness at all. Is this normal? This would be my first baby :)

ChoChang · 10/04/2016 20:13

babydreaming we are in the same position. I'm also 5+1 today, tested 2-3 on clear blue last Sunday, tested again today and still 2-3. Planning on testing again Tuesday or Wednesday. Not too worried as at only 5+1 I was only half expecting it to go have moved on today as I believe they're not that accurate. Welcome and congratulations!

becciandbump · 10/04/2016 20:58

The only tests I have done are the clear blue digitals I found the non digital tests were not sensitive enough to show two lines. Ive got a few non digitals and hope to get 2 lines in the next few days x

becciandbump · 10/04/2016 21:00

Although it may have been that I used the digitals first thing and it was later in the day I tried the non digitals so my urine was probably weaker

Insertwitticismhere · 10/04/2016 21:52

Hi.. wasn't expecting to find such a busy December board already!
I'm 38, have a dd 13 months (so all being well I'll have 2 under 2!) feeling massively sorry for myself at the moment as I have a nasty bout of tonsillitis and am feeling bad about taking the antibiotics and paracetamol.
Told my parents today, sort of by accident, but really wish I hadn't since it' still all so early.

SolomanDaisy · 10/04/2016 21:55

With my DS I also got 2-3 weeks at about 5+1 (might even have been a couple of days later), so this time I didn't use my last clearblue digital until 5+5, as I guessed that it wouldn't switch to 3+ until then. There were no issues with my hcg when it was tested for the triple test at 12 weeks. So don't worry about it not switching yet, there's a huge variation in hcg levels at this stage.

ChoChang · 10/04/2016 22:21

Thanks Solomon, that is reassuring. I'll try and wait til Wednesday when I'll be 5+4 but not sure ill have the will power. Will probably cave then have to buy more!

Congratulations insert and get well soon.

becciandbump · 10/04/2016 23:04

I told my mum by accident today too, I couldn't keep quiet it was the first time we spoke since I found out and it just came out x
