December 2016... Babies

Penguinepenguins · 21/03/2016 18:30

Doesn't seem to be a thread yet for babies due in December, possibly because I'm crazy and POAS really really early but a line is a line and today was my "double check" second day and a BFP it was again!

I sadly had a miscarriage in November found the July babies thread a huge help in my early days of pregnancy and the ladies were very supportive after the MC - I've just returned to mumsnet under a new name as I was finding it a bit painful at one point and went a bit cold turkey from it all!

So here is a bit about me

I'm 38
This will be baby number one for me
EDD 3rd December (know when I ovulated been using the monitor - the app ok many apps I've consulted this morning confirm this as the date

Very nervous after last time but want to enjoy every minute I can, I loved being pregnant before and want to do all the same things as before just keeping everything crossed for a sticky one.

Who is ready to join me Smile

Good to hear of the heart beat theaks - how lovely to see the very start of your new life.

Welcome to all the newest newbies!

Devgal they may do an early one on the NHS if you have PCOS. That is what I am hoping. If not I may get one privately as 12 weeks is too long. I have not received my appointment yet. I made the referral two weeks ago yesterday. Getting impatient now

HidinginPlainS1ght · 08/04/2016 16:27

Congratulations to everyone. So nice to hear of so many December babies.

I'm hanging off on going to the GP. We had some very difficult experiences with medical professionals last time and I'm not that keen to rush in again. There's a bit of me that would like to avoid them entirely but don't think we will. Maybe wait for a few weeks though.

Also have PCOS and have been on metformin for many years. Had PCOS related low milk supply last time so want to stay on it thoughout the pregnancy and see if I can get more milk.

HidinginPlainS1ght · 08/04/2016 16:28

Oh and no early scans for PCOS here sadly.

DartmoorDoughnut · 08/04/2016 18:01

Anyone else think its a little unfair to have just eat adverts on this site. I'm so hungry I need no encouragement! Not really had any sickness yet, just hungry constantly and thirsty.

underrugsswept · 08/04/2016 20:58

Hiiiiya! Grin

MangeToooot · 08/04/2016 22:20

Hello everyone! Can I join in?!

I'm 4 weeks and 1 day with baby number 1 - due 15th Dec. Haven't told anyone other than DH yet so it'll be nice to have somewhere to chat.

I'm mainly feeling very nervous about everything that can wrong!

becciandbump · 08/04/2016 22:20

Hi I just found out that got pregnant on my honeymoon and we are so excited. I just have one question im new to all this my gp said I am 4 weeks pregnant as my Lmp was 12 March and we think i conceived on 25th or 26th March but what does it mean when people say they are 4+2 or 5+3 what is the + thanks xx

MangeToooot · 08/04/2016 22:21

Hi Becci, congrats!
The first number is the weeks, and the second is the days. It's counted from the first day of your last period.

becciandbump · 08/04/2016 22:26

Just calculated and think I am due 16 dec x

MangeToooot · 08/04/2016 22:27

Almost the same as me! How are you feeling?

underrugsswept · 08/04/2016 22:28

Same EDD as me Becci. My LMP was 7th March though - I have 30+ day cycles.

becciandbump · 08/04/2016 22:30

Can't believe it is a simple as that is it too early to have baby brain haha!! I'm feeling a bit tired a few lower tummy aches and loads of wind ive just had to stop taking Senna when I found out so stocked up on prune juice I have awful probs with constipation anyway and I hear it gets worse with pregnancy ive booked an appointment with my gp next week as im going to need to take something I think x

becciandbump · 08/04/2016 22:34

Underrugsswept great to have a due date buddy! I feel a little nervous with it being early days but am just going to say my prayers before I go to sleep. I'm a bit of a worrier but know it will be better for baby if I just try to keep relaxed

BabyBumpHopeful · 09/04/2016 05:40

Welcome to all the newbies and happy to see everyone is doing well! Totally understand the nervousness at early days!

UPDATE

Second blood test results from Thursday (48 hours after the first) went from 219 to 576 so we're on track :)

Ultrasound is scheduled for April 28 and afterwards I'll see the nurse (not really sure what for, maybe to schedule the rest of the tests or whatever?). I'm taking a half day off work for that and DH has asked that I pick him up from work and drop him back off afterwards. I've got to try and remember to take a copy of my immunization record so they can put that in their files. I'll still have another TDAP shot I'm told, even though I had one in 2009, but I'm okay with that because I caught whooping cough at 17 and it sucks!

My pregnancy book: "Mayo Clinic - Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy" arrived on Thursday as well (love Amazon). I've had a quick read but it's been a stressful week so I'm going to read more of it this weekend, just for a quick overview at least!

Still thinking I'll tell everyone else at 12 weeks which just feels forever away! It might happen sooner if I have morning sickness issues (right now it's just bloating and rolling nausea but no throwing up), and also if my DSis tells me she's about to book her flight to come visit (I want to make sure she's aware that the room she was going to be in with her husband and 2 kids will probably be set up as a baby room (because I'm due just under 2 weeks before they arrive!)

Side note: I've got one last CB digital with weeks indicator and I'm thinking that I might use it this weekend or middle of next week (5+ weeks) so I can see what it says :)

becciandbump · 09/04/2016 10:48

Hi just wondering if anyone else felt ry hungry as early as 4 weeks. I stuffed myself all inclusive on honeymoon but I think that was just what u do on holiday but since I got back im still hungry a lot. I don't want to put on over the recommended weight as it will just make it harder to lose afterwards. I'm not sure if I'm mistaking the empty feeling (sickness) for hunger x

Bigfam · 09/04/2016 11:14

Hi ladies Grin can I join?
Done two tests this morning and they're both positive, think my last period was 3ish weeks ago... This is baby number 5 for us Shock we've got three girls and a boy, and all of our birthdays (including myself and partners) are in December and January. Working it out I'm guessing the new addition will be around the same time. I've not been to the GP or MW, I'll book in next week when the kids are back at school. Our youngest is 15 months, apparently I can only fall pregnant in march or April. Anyone had any morning sickness?

December 2016... Babies
becciandbump · 09/04/2016 12:27

Congrats bigfam! Id love to have a family that big but as we have started late think I'm just happy to have this little one growing for now! Xx

BabyBumpHopeful · 09/04/2016 18:25

becciandbump I was all this week as well (4 + 4) but I found it was less about me eating and more about this nausea feeling so if I ate just a little something, or I had a drink (of partially flat sprite) I was fine :)

Dunlin1987 · 09/04/2016 18:36

Well ladies...my wish of getting an early scan came true but not under nice circumstances. Had a bump in the car yesterday and had a few sharp cramps. I was not worried and even hospital did not think the bump will have done anything but we're concerned it could have been ectopic as the pains were in my left hand side. They did a scan and it was in the right place etc. It showed that my gestation sac was at approx 5 weeks which fits with my dates but they could not see yolk sac or fetal pole yet, which they said was perfectly normal at this point in the pregnancy but it has actually madee worry more!!! I want to see my baby! Think I will definitely get another scan privately at approx 8/9 weeks when you will see a baby and heartbeat. Only having one baby that was confirmed too.

babyinthacorner · 09/04/2016 19:36

Congrats Dunlin!

Becci & Bigfam I've been really hungry - will eat a meal and then need to eat a gain within two hours. And as of this morning I've been feeling nauseous. Not looking forward to that bit Sad

When is everybody telling people? DH wants to hold off telling family - we haven't told DD yet and he wants to tell her first. I'm kind of in agreement, however I'm not sure she'll really get it until we show her the scan. And that won't be til June! Can't keep it secret til then. Also, I need to tell work very soon and I feel weird telling work before I tell family. I guess I need to put a this to DH, but just wondering what others are doing - especially with regards to telling other DC.

Dunlin1987 · 09/04/2016 19:55

People don't generally tell people because of the chance of miscarriage. I thought to myself that if I did miscarry I would still want people to know as I would want support. I have told my parents and siblings along with my best friend. Going to tell my boss at work too as if I need any time off etc she will understand. You tell people when you want to.

becciandbump · 09/04/2016 20:52

I want to tell family but my husband wants to wait I don't think he gets that I need to talk and need support im finding it really hard keeping it a secret. Also im wondering if I should be honest and tell work I have a midwife appointment or just say I have to go for a health screen. What are people saying to work about the midwife appointment I can't say it's the doctors as the appointment lasts an hour and a gp appt would take 10 mins x
