Chapped vag update: just went to the loo and it's so chapped it's bleeding a tiny bit. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw blood!! ☹

hgleslie89 · 18/03/2016 11:42

Hi tickle!
ms you'll only see the midwife if they spot anything to be worried about on the scan.

Mslg · 18/03/2016 11:44

Ok maybe I should try and see my midwife at the surgery... I feel like I'd be wasting her time, maybe it's just a swollen pregnant woman's vagina?

bearhuggy · 18/03/2016 12:49

Happy week 21 coco and any other due date buddies :) according to my app our babes are now the size of a..... baby bok choy, large brioche a tete, baseball bat and a least weasel !! random.

Midwife appointment this morning, got to listen to the heartbeat which was nice, was 150 bpm and sounded like a little horse galloping away.

I had to send off my urine sample to be tested as I had a +1 something or other (?!) which could be a sign of a possible infection. Never had a urine infection in my life so interested to find out results. Midwife said it wasn't anything to be alarmed about and was only a slight increase when she did the stick thing and was best to check on the safe side, fingers crossed all ok. Anyone else had this?

coco I wouldn't worry about the extra scan, just think yourself lucky you get to see babe again :) were they unable to obtain any measurements when you had your 20 week? Perhaps something is missing from the file and they just need to repeat? Def worth calling your midwife if you are concerned.

welcome mrstickle !!

lily the fingers up picture is brilliant and what a super sweet baby profile, I love seeing all the scans!!

bearhuggy · 18/03/2016 13:21

sorry to hear of your issues mslg !! seeing blood must have been so worrying, but at least you know the source. 100% speak to the midwife as you shouldn't be uncomfortable or suffering, they must be able to give you something to help.

I had my midwife appoint booked in for this morning (21 weeks) and it was basically to receive my MATB1 form, do blood pressure, listen to baby's heart and discuss blood results from my 12 week tests...even though I already discussed these with my GP a couple of weeks back, so somewhat irrelevant! I think it totally depends on your hospital as to when these appointments are.

Congratulations KIM getting a bit nervous for mine now! Under 2 hours to go!

PickleBot · 18/03/2016 18:23

Afternoon all, love the picture Lily.

mslg sorry to hear about the sore vag situation. Defiantly see someone about that!

My scan is on Monday, I think this is the first time I've ever wished the weekend away! I must admit I'm getting fed up with basically just sleeping and eating, but I'm just tired and hungry all the time. Anyone else?

OP posts:
Christinedonna · 18/03/2016 19:31

I wish I was sleeping and eating! The eating part i have done. Just had a slightly lighter dinner than the usual gut buster, nice bowl of soup with fresh bread! But I just don't sleep at night! Last night I was tossing and turning for hours, then got a nose bleed, then this morning woke up with a stomach ache (same as every morning) and back to throwing up. Had a very chilled day of Netflix which was needed but it makes me wish I'd been on the go all day and knackered myself for tonight.

LotsofDots · 18/03/2016 19:46

elle my elder 2 have a 2.5 year gap and shared a room for 2 years, it was fine, but have both always been good sleepers.

Gah, forgot to ask my MW at my appointment yesterday for my MatB1 form and I don't have another appointment now for 6 weeks. I might give them a ring and see if I can collect it from them before then. Does anyone else have their's yet?
I have an extra scan booked at 30/40 as I have a 5cm ovarian cyst that they are keeping an eye on, it's nothing worrying but was the same size as at 12 weeks on he 20 week scan so they want to ensure it isn't getting bigger. They'll then scan me again 6 weeks after delivery to see what's happened to it. Such fun.

Christinedonna · 18/03/2016 19:55

What is this form? Do I need one?

LotsofDots · 18/03/2016 20:02

It's the form that you give to your work to prove you are pregnancy and entitled to maternity pay. It's also the one for maternity benefit and dental treatment etc. you should get it after 20weeks and need to have it for work by 25 weeks ) which is why I really should have remembered it yesterday as I don't have an appointment until 26 weeks!

Christinedonna · 18/03/2016 20:13

I've already got my maternity exemption card for prescriptions and dental work. Surely the midwife should remember that and have given it to you. You're pregnant, we're useless at remembering things!

plimsolls · 18/03/2016 20:22

mslg I share your pain! I mentioned the sore, itchy chapped feeling to my doc on Thursday and she gave me a prescription which turned out to be for thrush cream. Pharmacist advised me to buy OTC canesten instead (cheaper but same ingredients). Seems to be doing the trick for me, so might be worth a try?

Mslg · 18/03/2016 20:54

Thanks Plimsolls! The doctor ended up not seeing me but just writing me a prescription for the pessary and cream. Will give it a go. It's so swollen I barely recognise it 😂

I had my 20 week scan today and all is well. Still team yellow although I'm swaying towards boy now going on the scan picture!

19+6!

Elle, one min I feel reassured, the next I don't. I've still got the mucous, not loads, but I wish it would just piss off!
Most jealous about Ghibli world, looks amazing, always wanted to go!

Been having really painful stomach muscle and back ache the last 2 days, my husband says when I turn over in bed when I'm sleeping, I say oww oww painful... I all of a sudden have gone from just a bit fat to preggo looking in the last couple of days, so I'm guessing it's where I've popped out that's causing it...

So happy to be on a weeks holiday as of now, though not sure how much resting there will be as we plan to decorate and re floor the kitchen in that time too... I was also reading up on maternity leave and it says we accrue annual leave whilst on mat leave right? And we can't tack it onto the end of it if it goes over the next financial year (or holiday entitlement period) so I have to take a whole years leave before I take mat leave which means I can be outta work from mid June??!! I feel like I've won the lottery!!

Fizzyboo · 18/03/2016 21:23

Gorgeous scans to all by the way!!

Sophia1984 · 18/03/2016 22:15

You can get the prescription exemption certificate from earlier on than your maternity certificate for work. My midwife gave me a form at booking appointment, I sent it off and then NHS sent me a wallet-sized card. I think you can claim back any prescriptions you've paid for while pregnant too. I also got free prescriptions before it arrived when I said it was on the way!

MamaB80 · 19/03/2016 09:48

Hello everyone! I've been awol for a bit and realised we've got a new thread! I'm 19 weeks now, every week feels like a lovely milestone doesn't it?! We had a scan a couple of weeks back and found out we're having a boy. Loving knowing and will start buying stuff soon rather than in one go to soften the blow on our wallets!
Has anyone else due to give birth at St Thomas' Hospital in London done a tour?

Christinedonna · 19/03/2016 12:19

Does anyone have any strange pregnancy habits? I haven't really had any cravings or aversions (apart from nandos) I used to love nandos. Now you're not allowed to say that word near me! But I can't sleep at night, I make up for it with lay ins in the morning..BUT holding the OHs hand and nibbling on the end of his fingers makes me very sleepy and if he didn't find it so weird and take them away from me it would send me to sleep! I may need a replica of his hand just to make it through the rest of this pregnancy! Only weirdo here?

Christinedonna · 19/03/2016 12:28

ALSO JUST REALISED how soon I'm going to be done with work! As April is the beginning on a new financial year I have all my holiday to take again. That adds up to about a month and a half off altogether (I don't work very often so it quickly adds up!) which means if I start my holiday in June, that will carry me to mid July then as I'm due the beginning of August il put my maternity right on the end of the holiday. Which means I'm working two more full months and I'm done! That's crazy!

Fizzyboo · 19/03/2016 12:34

That's exactly what I'm doing christine! (Holiday etc not finger nibbling Wink) exciting!!

Christinedonna · 19/03/2016 12:46

Haha for a second there i thought the finger nibbling was normal and I wasn't alone! As the house is being redone it'll give me more time to focus on our room and get everything perfect! Hopefully il be rushed off my feet and won't get too bored! Having a meeting with my manager to organise it today, hope they don't freak over how soon il be gone. I can see me having to put my foot down over it

Fizzyboo · 19/03/2016 13:35

Yes likewise on house! My workplace don't like to stick to the rules, or frankly law, on most things, so I'm readying myself for a battle! As soon as I get my matb1 form I'm going for it! The summer off is mine!!!!
