EllieK · 09/01/2007 20:46

hi all x
haven't been on for a while, life has been looking up, i have a new man!
he's older than me (always have been a sucker for the odd grey hair!), works for the same company but in a completely different part so no problems there.
very happy for first time in a while, and almost managing to feel positive about the baby.
as for my 'lady rainforest', normally i trim it but have noticed i can't even see it so not sure what i'll do, may have to get good at working from mirror images! last time round i wasn't big bumped until 8 months so i'd already shaved for the last time before it got hidden! (sorry if tmi )
hope all are well, anything i should know, haven't been on since before christmas (sheepish )

Emmymummy · 09/01/2007 20:49

Also forgot to ask - have any of you (either in this pregnancy or in previous) developed any strange new moles, spots, or skin growth type things?

Last time I got a small red spot on my back that looked like a tiny blood blister, but it never went away. The Dr checked it and said it was just one of those things. During the last week this tiny blister has increased in size and is now about 3mm across and very raised. I picked it yesterday (I know, but I couldn't not) and it just would not stop bleeding, it was almost spurting out (tmi?). What the hell is it and should I be worried? Am seeing MW tomorrow so will point it out to her, but it's gross and I want it gone.

opinionsrus · 09/01/2007 20:56

Emmy - I did. Didn't get any red spot things but lots and lots of "skin tags" all over. Tiny little folds of skin. The good news is that they easily come off.

Anyway - have just had my first "mum" call up about 3 yr olds party to say sorry but so and so can't come.

AHHH help.......what if NO-ONE turns up, have invited 10?? Has anyone had this happen before?

opinionsrus · 09/01/2007 20:58

Also why is it that you just can't LIE to your mum?

Ds is staying on at nursery whilst I am on mat leave and my mum is paying for it (cos my mat pay wouldn't cover it).

I had to pretend that I didn't know anything about it and that DP had arranged it all..but I am sure that she has clicked. Help again.

doginsantasgrotto · 09/01/2007 21:02

Hello and Happy New Year Ellie K! Sounds like you have been 'busy' and not surprising you haven't been on for a while if you have a new man!! V pleased for you!

Emmy Mummy, I have had lots of those skin tags too. They seem to have all found a home under my (now) huge breasts. I do take a peak occasionally to check for new arrivals! I would get any spot or similar checked out if it is growing though.

whoever suggested circling feet before bed to avoid leg cramps - thanks! Tried it last night and whilst they didn't disappear, they were less painful!

Night night (circling feet as we speak!)

Emmymummy · 09/01/2007 21:06

Opinions - had the problem of worrying about people not turning up for dd's party last year. Has a few last minute cancellations that really annoyed me and I got really stressed out worrying that no-one would turn up and that dd would be really upset. As it happened there were about 11 kids in the end and they all had a fab time. Dd didn't even notice that some of her friends were missing, she was just enjoying being the centre of attention!

Emmymummy · 09/01/2007 21:07

LOL at new arrivals under breasts Dogin!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 09/01/2007 21:07

Emmymummy, I am glad there are others on here who have experienced skin tags. I had read elsewhere that this was a fairly common occurence during pregnancy. I am unable to help, but as I say sounds like it is normal. However, I would raise it with your mw as you said you will be doing.

EllieK, good news on the new man front. No need to ask whether you have been having sex whilst pg!!

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 09/01/2007 21:26

EllieK - you go girl!

CD - ooh diclofenac (sp) - great stuff - they used it on top of my epidural!

Maybe my third nipple is a tag??

Pesha - why not camp in pembrokeshire? We normally go to Llangennith on the Gower camping for long weekends - tried longer once and it pissed down from day 1 - went home early! Went for a week camping to cornwall last year and had great time - though if go this year would buy a camping stove. We have a tent the size of the millenium dome which sounds great but it takes ages to put up - am trying to convince dh to get a smaller one!

DH won lots of brownie points yesterday - he bought me a digital camera so can take more photos of boys and the baby when it arrives.

My breastpads arrived today - organic ones by Disana - they are bigger than I thought but flatter - have seen the kushies ones before and they were smaller but thicker - so maybe these ones will be less obvious under clothes???!!!

I got my ebay Babyclaming book today - off to bed soon to read with hot choc! Must do some cleaning tomorrow....

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 09/01/2007 21:33

Camping!!! Are you mad!!! I could manage it for a night and then that would be me in to the B&B!

I am getting quite worried at how heavy and knackered I feel already. I feel like I did at 8 months. My legs feel odd, and even walking upstairs gives me a headache.

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 09/01/2007 21:44

Even more reason to put your feet up SOSPL, ignore the housework, buy ready meals and eat chocolate My friend told me the other day that no-one is expected to be a domestic goddess when they are pregnant - I am going with that

I do like camping - but need to take a quilt with me rather than sleeping bag - and we have a pod (bedroom) each - boys and dh in one, me in another and another for storage - but will become baby's pod eventually - although may be easier to have baby in with me esp if needs feeding at 3am

I have just had another freecycle success - have been trying to get a bigger kitchen table - have a pine round one and it just is not practical - someone has just posted offering a bigger rectangle one and they are looking for a smaller round one - so are going to swap! Just saved myself several hundred quid - yippee!

opinionsrus · 09/01/2007 21:45

Crossing fingers now. The stupid thing is that he is only 3 and TBH would not really be that bothered if only one came! Oh well I suppose thats parenthood....

I've "counted" on about 5 out of 10 coming...time will tell. Don't need this stress on top of crappy preg too - am I totally mad?

Emmymummy · 09/01/2007 21:50

Yes Opinions, definately mad! 5 little ones running around and causing chaos is plenty (plus I guess their parents stay too, so they always take up loads of space and need cups of tea/wine/beer depending on how generous you're feeling). Don't worry, just have a good time!

Emmymummy · 09/01/2007 21:51

Oh dear, have just eaten about 10 Ferrero Rochers. Feel stuffed now and am going to have a lie-down. Night all .

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 09/01/2007 21:53

emmymummy OMG you took the advice literally !!!!

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 09/01/2007 21:56

I have only ever had birthday parties at home for their first birthdays - all the others we have either decamped to the village hall or soft play! Although now DS1 is getting bigger we can do things like the cinema, laser quest, swimming etc which is cool.

Pesha · 09/01/2007 22:09

Elliek - great news on new man prob bit early in the relationship to ask him to trim your ladyforest for you?! Unless you made it part of the fun Asked dp to trim mine he said eww no! so he'll lick it but wont go there with a pair of scissors!! Sorry is that tmi?! Am in one of those moods tonight, sorry

Baby has hiccups at mo, very low down. Does anyone else find that movements you feel really low feel kind of scrapey or bit like grinding or something, not sure how to describe it really but not so pleasant so hiccups literally just behind my pubic bone are not the most enjoyable thing!! Still 1 week ago i was starting to worry that id not felt hiccups by now as i always had by this stage in the past, cant imagine how it could have possibly been a bad thing that my baby didnt get hiccups but thats pg for you!!

Sorry um...breast pads - not even made it through one pack in 15months of bfing!! Have non leak boobs! Also not great at milk production really, seem to have only just enough for the job so never anything left to leak! but im really hoping that was partly due to PND before and that this time will have lovely huge milky boobs leaking all over the place so no top ups required and as we're gonna be so skint i really need to make it to a year this time! And i want to aswell, specially as this is def last baby so i want to make it all last as long as possible.

As for camping we have thought about it but with dd ds and 3 month old baby may be a bit much. And if bean is anything like ds he will still be coming into bed with me for feeds and could be abit tricky in a tent! Am actually really pissed off with dp about this at the mo, he's been saying no we cant afford it (reckon it'll cost about £600, £700 absolute max for cottage, petrol, food and spending money) but he's now planning on buying a psp and been talking about i pods, reckons he needs to get all his spending urges out of his system before he moves in cos he wont be able to then. If he carries on like this he wont have to worry about that!!

Pesha · 09/01/2007 22:43

Am feeling very now at my brazen hussy comments and even worse with total lack of response since! Surely i cannot have killed an antenatal thread?! Not even I could manage that!

Tis all the hormones ladies, please ignore me and carry on

Pesha · 09/01/2007 22:54

Am in very strange mood tonight. Should be a ban on mumsnet preventing anyone posting when under the influence of alcohol(big mistake!!) or when in strange hormone induced moods!

Was reading a thread early about does not tearing in labour mean you have a huge fanjo!! Was very funny and, as someone who has only ever had a slight tear that didnt require stitching, both reassuring and insulting!
First time ladies perhaps the fear of tearing isnt quite so bad if you know that at least afterwards noones going to compare you to the channel tunnel!! And advise your dp to wear skis as a safety precaution

Anyway must must must go to bed. Oh thats what i was going to say - CD - i am also in crappy sleep pattern and dont go to bed till 11 or 12 then exhausted next day but seem to wake up in evening and dont get to bed til late again. Altho at least now ds back at playschool i can go back to bed in morning if i need to.

Pesha · 09/01/2007 22:58

OMG i really have killed the thread!! Where are you all???!!

Will come back tomorrow and find you've started a new thread called ' Due in april but shh dont tell pesha (she's a brazen hussy!)'

I will cry

weeonion · 09/01/2007 23:07

lol pesha - we are still here but maybe some of us have been too busy dealing with our ladyforests or comparing our sizes to tunnels - the channel tunnel? the clyde tunnel?

liath · 10/01/2007 07:46

PMSL at all this channel tunnel & brazen hussy talk ! Friend of mine swore by perineal massage & said that's why she didn't tear. I shall take great delight in telling her that in fact it's because she has a bucket of a fanjo.

Pesha, glad you're getting your scan. My next one's 28 weeks too. Awful having a question mark hanging over the pregnancy, hope you're managing OK with dealing with it .

Have been getting some uncomfotable movement to, like the baby's scrabbling away inside.

Emmymummy - your skin tag sounds like a spider naevus which is a dilated blood vessel just below the skin. A friend got oads in her second pregnancy, including a big one on the end of her nose!! She was very relieved that they went after the baby was born!

EllieK congratulations on the new man!

Opinionsrus, I'm sure the party will be great. It's a bad time of year for kids dropping out with various bugs I suppose.

Definitely not into camping but had a lovely holiday last year in Wales in a farm cottage. Not planning on going abroad for a while, too much hassle with littlies.

maveta · 10/01/2007 09:02

Skin tags? Who said skin tags? I have only developed one so far but it is right on the point of my nipple!! Tiny but weird.

I've noticed the baby feeling 'clunkier' too, I guess that's because it's bigger and harder (fully developed skeleton and all that) but it does feel like I can feel it's wee bones sometimes. I've not had any hiccups yet..I WANT HICCUPS!!! Last night it did one of those really slooooooow turns and it felt like an eel moving over the top of my belly really slowly. Actually made me go eeuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrgh. Not in a bad way just in a kind of, oh my god that was weird, way.

Back in work today and feeling less motivated then ever. Problem is, I work extremely well under pressure but when I have little to do I can't be arsed doing anything. Boss is away for a month and I know when she gets back she's going to kind of what to know what I've been doing. Think I'd better spend the rest of the month making stuff up??! Think I can say 'Mumsnet'? Maybe not.

x

CaptainDippy · 10/01/2007 09:14

Boo!! No time to read properly, but sooo glad you've got another scan Pesha - That is good stuff! Thinking ofy ou - It WILL hbe ok!! xxxx

Busy day today - hoping my house doesn't get too trashed as I have friends and their children round this morning and this afternoon, must be crazy!!

Hope everyone's ok - Bump v.active this morning - has been up since 6am!!

Gotta go, but will try to pop by later on .....

GirtWaspbElly · 10/01/2007 09:56

I really camping this summer - but dh isn't so keen, on camping at all - more's the
shame.

Been wanting so say that I'm in the "go with the flow" birth plan gang, although having had a 2 hour labour from 1st contraction to afterbirth I'm not exactly a horror story (one and a half paracetamol later). AND that was a first birth too - so gawd alone knows how fast this one will be - it takes 20 mins to drive across Southampton for us and I really don't want to be curling up in the back seat with no seatbelt the way I know my dh would drive! I guess (for the first timers) the worst part for me was the contractions as it was pain I couldn't do anything about - no position/movement eased it at all, the actual pushing bit although still painful -was actually quite easy, as you could join in and help it all along.
The other thing nudging me towards a planned homebirth is that the average stay in hopsital for a normal birth is around 2-4 hours post birth! Seems hardly worth it!
Guess I ought to put things about the what-if's down - should we come to emCS etc...

MW yesterday said wiggler is head down already - hence painful low wiggles and I'm measuring big for dates (gulp!) but that was just the tape measure across the tum one. As I'm all forwards and nothing at the sides I'm not feeling too guilty about the Xmas chocolates.

Good luck with scan Pesha - wishing with all my heart that it's just overanxious pg hormones for you.
