figgy I wore wires until I went into labour and didn't affect bf but I might have been lucky. Bravado bliss nursing bras are the closest I found to what I wanted when I had to stop the wires - padded and moulded cups so give a bit of shape if you're small and support if you're a bit larger.

MyBreadIsEggy · 04/04/2016 13:18

My GP surgery said the referral has been faxed over, so I'm now trying to ring the antenatal unit to see if they can put me through to the EPAU

Gigglebert · 04/04/2016 13:20

eggy hope you be managed to get through to the epu by now!x

figgy I wore underwires throughout pregnancy last time and intend to again this time as I need the support and couldn't find a decent bra for a 36G without underwire! Switched to nursing bras once my wee one arrived and hated being in them for the 7months I was feeding!

Vitamin wise I'm taking pregnacare max (with the additional omega 3 capsule), haven't had any issues with them and used them last time so plan to stick with them for full pregnancy :)

athousandsplendidsuns · 04/04/2016 13:20

eggy good luck - they really should have contacted you by now so I wouldnt hold back on chasing in case it's gone astray.

Alwaysinahurrynow · 04/04/2016 13:22

Eggy - keep chasing!

I'm another one taking pregnacare Max. I always make sure I buy them on 3 for 2 as they are so expensive.

MyBreadIsEggy · 04/04/2016 13:27

Thanks everyone! Good job I did chase it up - I've just come off the phone with the EPAU midwife, and she said that they don't even have a fax machine on the unit anymore so god knows where my referral has gone to! But they are seeing me on Wednesday morning.

FuzzyOwl · 04/04/2016 13:29

Glad you finally got a date Eggy although it is rubbish that different medical branches aren't better conmected for instances like this.

Figgy, I just wore normal bras last time as well as I am tiny and my boobs don't grow in pregnancy.

TaffetaMuttonfudge · 04/04/2016 14:33

Just back from my scan and all perfect (except for the fact the baby was sleeping on his/her face and they couldn't get a good picture!). Brought my EDD forward to 13th October. Am so happy right now GrinGrinGrin

FuzzyOwl · 04/04/2016 14:36

Great news Taff.

BadlyWrittenPoem · 04/04/2016 15:14

Eggy it shouldn't be a problem if you have to take your baby with you. When I ended up in A&E with a newborn and DH wasn't there the Dr just fetched a nurse to hold her when he needed to examine me.

Tallblue · 04/04/2016 15:18

I had my scan today and due date brought forward from 22/10 to 18/10. Baby seemed fine, very wriggly and it took a long time for the sonographer to get the necessary measurements.
All was going well until my appointment with my midwife afterwards when it was explained that during the scan a small bleed was found in the womb. I've got another scan booked in 4 weeks time to monitor the situation. The clinicians weren't particularly concerned and it seems it's a case of just waiting to see what happens.
Very worried now and DH and I don't know whether to tell friends and family our news or hold off until 16 weeks after the next scan.
After building up to this scan for weeks it feels quite strange now as we are still in limbo not quite sure if everything ok. I'm trying to stay positive and just focus on the wriggly little baby that I saw on screen Smile

MyBreadIsEggy · 04/04/2016 15:21

badly she will usually sit quite happily in her buggy if I bribe her with pieces of Apple Grin

BigPigLittlePig · 04/04/2016 16:04

Another good scan here Grin
Told dd, who was there, "that picture is of a baby in mummy's tummy"and she went all rosy cheeked and had the biggest grin, it was the most amazing thing! She was very proud to tell my parents that mummy has a baby in her tummy. Also brought dates forward 5 days so am 13w today. Mental. Date for 20w scan in my diary already.

Eggy I'm glad you have a date, what a palaver!

FuzzyOwl · 04/04/2016 16:07

Glad the baby is ok Tall and I have heard a few other women say bleeds have been found during their early scans but nobody ever seems concerned. Hopefully it is because it isn't anything to worry about regarding the baby although it is comforting to know in case you start spotting.

Great news BigPig.

pod100 · 04/04/2016 17:21

Why are underwired bra's an issue in pregnancy? I haven't heard that before?

Congrats on your scans everyone - lovely to hear lots of good news!

My midwife told me to buy pregnacare plus from Amazon as its only £8.50 a box. I couldn't believe it when I saw it in boots for £15+!!

fairgroundsnack · 04/04/2016 17:42

Hi all - had my 12w scan today as well - felt like a bit of a cheat as I had a scan at the FMC only 6 days ago when they took the bloods for the Harmony test. Official due date now 16 October.... eeek! I didn't bother having the combined test given that I've had the Harmony done which is much more accurate. I'm going to wait until I get the Harmony results next week before I tell the DCs - it's a long time for them to wait anyway! Date for 20w scan all booked too...

On the bras, I think underwired are OK as long as they fit properly - problems seem to arise when people wear their pre-pregnancy underwired bras when they have grown, and they are too small so dig in!

SimileMilly · 04/04/2016 18:47

Yay for all the positive scans today!

climbingcheesecake · 04/04/2016 19:56

Hi all, just checking in to say congrats to everyone who has had their 12 week scan. Hope all is well with yours on wednesday Eggy, and hope you are not too worried Tall.

BadlyWrittenPoem · 04/04/2016 20:29

Has anybody thought about birth plans yet? ELCS, hospital, MLU, home birth, free birth?

Afreshstartplease · 04/04/2016 20:32

Hospital
Gas and air

Hopefully same as last one (5 hours start to finish) or slightly less Wink

Gigglebert · 04/04/2016 21:08

I'm considering a home birth... Midwife was supportive given that first was relatively easy and just gas&air but need to discuss practicalities with her over next few appointments, then if I'm still keen she will do a home visits at 28 weeks :)

IrisPurple1 · 04/04/2016 21:33

Lol I've been slower ever since I got pregnant! I'm pretty zippy in the mornings still but get slower and slower as the day wears on. Often out of breath. Yesterday did a 5 mile walk with some hilly bits and at the end I could hardly have gone any further.

Taking pregnacare, with a couple of the omega 3 capsules a week if I've not had much fish.

My boobs haven't really grown (unlike my gut) so no need to add bigger bras to my shopping list just yet.

Eggy glad you got your appointment, fingers crossed for Weds. If anyone else has any bleed at all you must ring EPAU direct, if you don't have their number or can't find on hospital website ring the hospital switchboard.

Hospital birth definitely - Daren't take any risks and I don't want neighbours hearing me screaming! Gas and air only, can't stand the thought of an injection in my spine...

BigPigLittlePig · 04/04/2016 21:46

Labour plans - convince mw am in actual labour in order to bag whatever drug I need, as last time nobody believed me until the baby was practically out. I would have liked some pain relief! Am consultant led care so hospital birth only - will aim for the water birth I didn't get last time.

I think under wired bras cause problems when they dig into the glandular bits of boob and can cause blocked ducts later on in pregnancy. The key is a good ffitting bra I reckon, regardless of amount of scaffolding required Grin

Bluecarrot · 04/04/2016 21:49

I've had two emergency sections already ( second time I got to pushing stage, but she was a huge baby and got stuck)
I've asked for a specific consultant who is very pro vbac (vaginal birth after c section) so if she says I need a section, I'll be content . But want to give myself every chance for a more natural birth.

FuzzyOwl · 04/04/2016 22:16

I want an ELCS this time and hopefully some competent midwives to support me.
