Hello everyone

Still a bit ill but just about getting better. We're away for the weekend and bought some really cute clothes on the way yesterday so getting cautiously excited about baby arriving. Have to admit the recent tragedy has made it harder to post as my troubles seem so trivial. As we're on pet fest again here's my gorgeous teddy bear. Love him to bits.

Miniegg - a really cute dog!

HopesAndDreams15 · 05/03/2016 12:51

Primary your Arthur is a very handsome boy!

Also nice pics Thom and Minie.

Allthegood* what a lovely idea, enjoy sharing your news.

Scase I wouldn't fancy working 9 days in a row to be honest! Can they not split your shifts up better?

Ellizardo · 05/03/2016 13:11

allthegood - so impressed! and even the tupperware is pink handled!

loving all the pet pics. I am hoping for twin kittens for my 40th (she says, like a 9 year old) as it's been years since we had a pet in the family.

scase - what a lovely boy! any names yet?

woodsy - i agree with goingloopy...read up on it all and look at vids but in the end go with the flow. the best thing about antenatal classes was not the content but the other women who were goign through the same things as me and were local to boot. so helpful when the time came to ask their advice..especially as 6 out of 8 of us had EMCSs etc.

primary - don't think waterbirths are allowed under consultant care but could be wrong...it may change between different trusts..

birchy - go blue! can't believe it, what a lovely surprise. a bit like us finding out we're team pink after no girls for generations.

vikki - hope you got some sleep. had awful food poisoning on thursday night up all night with d&v...it is horrid being violently sick when pregnant AND a toddler but OH stayed at home yesterday and I just slept for 11 hours straight and feel a lot better...

SpeakNoWords · 05/03/2016 13:15

Primary/ellizardo, it depends where you are and what facilities the hospital has. Where I'll be going, the consultant led section has had a pool fitted to one of the delivery rooms. So if it was available you could use it.

Scase1firsttimemum · 05/03/2016 15:30

His name is Max Stephen John Marshall Smile

They were split up but they seem to like giving me weekends off now, and to get back to that they've put me mon-fri next week.. Someone only has 2 shifts next week so I was thinking of giving him one of mine so I break it up myself

Vikkijayne2507 · 05/03/2016 18:12

He actually slept all night stirring twice but didn't have to go in, thank god long may it continue.

We are stuck with names faves are currently Jack, Oliver, Max, Ben and outsider Luke. We have a James Sebastian. We live in Portugal so common names don't apply to us really

primarynoodle · 05/03/2016 19:20

The pet photos are too cute Wine im glad im not the only nutcase animal lover on here!

scase congrats on your gorgeous nephew with a lovely name :) your shifts sound shit though! Im fairly sure thats illegal?! (Disclaimer - i may be wrong i have no actual legal training in this department, it just sounds very unfair)

Argh I just cried when I discovered there are rail replacement buses running from London to Surrey tomorrow. Why would they do that on mothers' day?! Can't face four hours of travel (on top of parental time). Guess it's really about time we got a car...

Bluebell no I haven't been singing to the baby as I don't want to give the poor little thing nightmares or get arrested for child abuse. But I've been playing nice gentle music for him to listen to (and also to relax me).

Happy Mother's Day everyone! St Davids St Davids

I bought myself a bunny cupcake from Gails and I have to say I've reached peak sugar level.

Julfin - good luck today with transpo. what a pain. do you have to go?! claim you claim pregnancy rights?! at least the weather is nice!

Um Bird - what kind of dogs are yours? I think Pip and George have just converted me! Absolutely gorgeous.

gnat99 · 06/03/2016 08:16

Happy Mother's Day everyone, both to the mothers and (like me), the mothers to be! St Davids

I ate so much chocolate yesterday that I really don't deserve any today. But I doubt that will stop me. Particularly as I have to work, so feeling a bit sorry for myself. Although I did get brought some tea in bed so I can't really complain.

Thanks for setting up the new list allthegood, we are flying through them! Have serious catching up to do, but for now will just say a general congrats to everyone who had scans in last few days, and thanks for all the cute pet pics. Sorry to those who've been ill.

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 06/03/2016 08:51

Happy Mother's Day to all the mummies and mummies-to-be. Hope you all get spoiled! St DavidsCakeBrew

allthegood amazing cakes! How did the gathering go? I really want to bake now... Also, glad I am not the only one singing!

Scase I would give a shift away - sounds like a plan.

julfin haha, I am not the world's greatest singer either! But I have to do lots of singing as a primary teacher so I've kind of got over it.

I had rubbish dreams last night that I'd had the baby and had then forgotten about him and had gone off to work! Came rushing home at the end of the day panicking that he hadn't been fed for hours! Argh! I was very bloody relieved when I woke up and baby was still safely in my tummy...!

Happy Mothers' Day ladies. I had better remind my DH or he won't ring his mum!

mascaraisamust · 06/03/2016 09:13

Morning ladies, happy Mother's Day to those who with dc and to all the mums to be with their bumps St Davids

birdandbee · 06/03/2016 09:56

Eliz - They are both miniature Poodles, but we cut their fur all the same length i.e. Not the traditional poodle Pom Poms

Jem01 · 06/03/2016 09:58

Thread 7 already?! We are a chatty bunch!

Indians sweet photo! Did you do the facepaint? If it looks fab! :-)

Scase lovely news! Newborn cuddles are the best :-)

Woodsy can you find out if your local hospital does any more classes or can recommend elsewhere that does?

primarynoodle we're going with neutral nursery so similar to your ideas grey/cream but with white and blue accent (team blue!)

Happy Mother's Day and Mother's Day to be for us ftm's :-)

I've got lunch with my mum and mother in law today and then we've got a decorator coming round to quote on plastering the new nursery-exciting!

Seeing as we're half way through out pregnacies, ladies is it too early to think about prams?! Popped into John Lewis yesterday, having had my heart set on the icandy peach 3 after getting a demo from the sales guy I've totally gone off it! Very heavy and so expensive - not sure I can justify spending that much. Think it's now between the strawberry 2 and the uppababy cruz both lightweight but sturdy and have a good sized basket. Anyone had experiences with either one?

KayTee87 · 06/03/2016 10:10

Happy mothers day ladies! I got a card & flowers from my dog and the baby boy with no name (DH) and a card & set of body butters from my mil & bil. How lovely :)

YouAndMeAreGoingToFallOut · 06/03/2016 10:13

I guess that's why it's important to try them out Jem - I've got an appointment at John Lewis in a couple of weeks to look at prams because I've not got a clue! I like the look of the Strawberry 2 as well though.

DH and I spent the day yesterday with a visiting friend and her three under 5's. Exhausting! Hats off to those of you with kids already, especially three or more. I don't know how you do it!

Also yesterday DH finally managed to feel the baby kicking. He was so excited, bless him.

23+6

KayTee87 · 06/03/2016 10:13

Jem we bought our pram in January haha because it was a really good deal, cosatto giggle 2. Getting rest of nursery furniture at easter weekend when we've got time to have a look around.

BelOfTheBall79 · 06/03/2016 10:19

Hi everyone, I haven't posted for ages as we had a few broadband issues and Mumsnet doesn't have an app for android that I can find! Just been up since 7 reading everyone's posts. So lovely to hear most of the news, but also sad to hear of losses too.

We found out we are team blue at the scan a couple of weeks ago. We didn't decide to find out til the last minute but glad I did as feel much closer to him now. DH has already nicknamed him too. And yesterday I put DH's hand over my belly as the baby was moving - he loved it! I have an anterior placenta though so the movements feel a bit muffled.

Am loving the nursery chat. I've done a Pinterest board of loads of things I like. Some I reckon I or DH can make ourselves, he's a pretty good artist so have asked him to do some pictures for the walls. And I saw a cute baby initial picture made out of different shades of blue Crayola crayons that I can make (crayons and box frame already ordered and arrived). I like the thought of making stuff personally but can't knit or sew so doing something slightly different. I think we'll have a neutral wall colour and carpet but accessorise with wall stickers and other stuff. Probably going for a safari theme.

Reassuring to see some others have no ideas on prams etc. We are pretty set on the Silver Cross Surf2 but I also like the iCandy Peach. Although saw one of you posted to say that you found it too heavy.

Also loving pictures of all your fur babies. Here are my two. I just ADORE them and hope they will be ok when the baby arrives!

AnnaT45 · 06/03/2016 11:17

Indians I feel your pain. DD let me have about three hours sleep last night as clearly she was so excited for Mother's Day!

Re buggies. It really depends how you use them. I live in a village with no shop so I'm in and out my car. We choose bugaboo chameleo as its lighter than most and folds easily. It was either that or the uppababy vista. We went bugaboo as DH is tall and it has a good extended handle. If you don't need to be in and out the car then don't worry about the weight so much. To be honest I think there is much of a muchness with them all!

We've had a bit of a stressful week. Our buyers pulled out on Tuesday night. Apparently they've been offering on anything they like to get them off the market so they could then choose what one they wanted with no pressure it would get snapped up! Unbelievable!!! I wish the law was like Scotland where an offer was final and binding. Anyway we've had loads of viewings already so hoping it won't take long. Just so hard keeping the house immaculate with DD and work etc.

Everyone is so ahead of me! Congrats on all the scans and happy shopping to those who found out the sex! I've got my scan in a week and a half but feeling baby move loads now and even from the outside! Got another active one I think! Scase gorgeous nephew! They are so gorgeous when they're little and still Grin

I hope everyone has a lovely Mother's Day whatever you get up to! CakeThanks

Bluebell20 · 06/03/2016 11:24

Oh Anna that is awful about the house - what a pain! Good luck with getting a new buyer.

Bel lovely to see you! I really like the sound of the Crayola initial. I just thought 'ooo, I could do that', but then remembered I would have to actually settle on a name first...!

On a morbid note, I have just been rewriting my will on the basis of impending motherhood. Ladies, it is really important that you choose someone to be your child's guardian in the event of you and your partner both dying! My brother has just agreed to do it - not quite the phone call he was expecting on a Sunday morning, he said!!!
