Hello team July! Yah it's Friday! What we having for dinner? I'm having fish and veg as was disgusting and had a huge pasty at lunch Blush

I can't remember who asked but movements don't need to be monitored till 28 weeks. Try not to worry. Baby is still quite small so you won't feel a lot of it. Try have a really cold drink or something sweet and lie down that often helps but normally later on.

Re ante natal classes... I didn't do them last time as I was always at weddings etc. A friend said they were mainly about birth etc though. I went to a class called lazy daisy. It's like yoga, relaxing and hypnobirthing. Was great and I really used the breathing techniques in labour and more after my EMCS which was painful. Recommend them highly! For my personally I learnt on the job and with support from mums and girl friends. I don't think you can really prepare for it to be completely honest so don't stress if you don't go!

Primary he is trying to make you cave!!! Just go for light grey with some nice colour. That's what we did. Then I got pink curtains and a cushion when DD was born. DH and I not crazy about pink or blue as a wall colour so it wasn't a issue... We disagreed a lot on names though Grin

primarynoodle · 04/03/2016 16:50

Weve had a few discussions on names and generally agreed on most (vetoed a few of each others though!).

Hes only desperate to know because hes impatient! I really dont want to find out mainly because i just have no desire and think a suprise would be lovely but also a little because if it is a girl i think it would make my general anxiety/stress worse because of my daughter that we lost last year.. hopefully he'll just accept it and wait, its not like he'll never know!!

Regarding birth id like a water birth i think but not sure im allowed... are you allowed if you are under consultant care?

GoingLoopyQuickly · 04/03/2016 17:30

Woodsey -speak to your midwife about the classes you will miss. And check out you tube. But tbh it is about just going with the flow. Everyone's main priority will be you and baby are safe. Midwives will guide you through the whole thing. I was recommended two good bits of advice which help take some of the stress away 1) pack you hospital bag(s) (i had two even though I was at home - one for labour and one for afterwards) and then get your partner to unpack it and repack it. Then they know what and where everything is. 2) write you ideal labour solution down, but most importantly make sure your partner knows it backwards and inside out. They will advocate for you if you are off your face on drugs.

Our nursery for DS was cream walls and red bits (above picture rail and carpet). We figured it was neutral but not dull and when the time comes, the kids can help design their room. We didn't find out what we were having with DC1 but will try to find out this time. However, the room which will be the nursery this time is staying put with blue accents and carpet. Be it girl or boy.

My point is it doesn't need to be pink or blue. The colours mean nothing to a baby and i for one encourage my boy to play and experiment with all sorts of colours including pink. He loves dolls and playing cooking but also loves pirates and can't get enough of planes and helicopters. Go with a colour scheme you like.

Hi ladies

I've had a whirlwind of a day. Spent most of the morning in floods of tears as I fell over on my way to 20 week scan. There was something wet on the living room floor which I skidded on. Thank god I fell on my back rather than bump but it gave me a terrible fright and I was convinced I'd get bad news at hospital. Have attached 2 pics - second is very cute one of baby putting legs on head.

I also completed on purchasing my first property today. I feel sad as I should be delighted that I've finally reached such a milestone ahead of baby being born, but I couldn't bear to stay in the flat longer than needed for bed delivery. My mum is on holiday this weekend so I'm on my own and everything felt so overwhelming going to flat alone. Silly things like not knowing how to turn on heating and just not having anyone to celebrate with.

So I'm feeling quite sorry for myself on what should be a really happy day Blush hoping I can be more positive tomorrow X

Luckily scan went really well and everything was absolutely fine. He refused to face the camera so I had a little walk and can of lemonade that got him moving! Will

Not quite sure what happened to order of my last msg, it looks jumbled on my phone!

beckslovestimmy · 04/03/2016 18:00

Great pics Carla especially the legs on head one!! Congratulations on completing on the flat too. Sorry your not feeling great about it all. Maybe it's hormones playing a part. I'm sure it'll feel different once your in and it feels properly yours. Does it need work/decorating? X

Carla42 · 04/03/2016 18:43

Thank you becks Smile no it doesn't really need any work at all tbh, just a few little touches to make it mine. I'm doing an IKEA shop tomorrow so hopefully that will perk me up a bit!

I just need to find one of those surveys to complete where I can tick house owner then it will feel real!

BeauticianNotMagician81 · 04/03/2016 19:33

Thanks for the new thread Allthegood

Indians your little one looks fab in his costume. Adorable

Woodsy I only attended one ante natal class they just weren't for me. Sorry I can't be more helpful. Lovely news about your baby shower. I think we only start counting the kicks with baby from about 28 weeks but may be worth speaking to your midwife to ease any concerns.

Primary both times DH and I have agreed that we wanted to find out. We did take a while to decide this time but both said that of us wanted to know and the other didn't then it was only fair not to find out as we would likely let slip the secret by accident.

Anna we are having a chicken dish. I put a jar of Lloyd grossman tomato & chilli over chicken breasts, sliced red pepper, onion, tomatoes and mushrooms. Then serve with rice. Yum.

Carla great scan pics. Glad all went well.

Birchybaby hope your scan went well.

This baby does not stop moving I don't think I've ever had such an active baby. Had some good news today. I left my job and I'm working mobile until baby arrives. If you remember the owner was being a pain in the bum. Anyway she cancelled my final cheque which included money over a five week period. She claimed fraudulent activity on her account which had caused her to cancel the cheque. I spoke to a previous employee and apparently she used to say it all the time and cancel cheques. I had invoiced her in the week for the money and told her I would take legal action if not paid within a certain time frame. She completely ignored me. So today I put a post on my fb about having to chase after money I am owed. Ta da 10 minutes after posting she paid the money into my account. I then wrote on her fb business page review telling people that I hadn't been paid. She sent me a torrent of messages saying she was contacting the police over my threats. I had a little chuckle with DH as she clearly doesn't know what a threat is. All in all a happy me as I got paid at last.

Scase1firsttimemum · 04/03/2016 19:50

The baby arrived 15 minutes ago! After a very long day! Im so excited to have cuddles soon! Ahhhh feeling very overwhelmed and emotional right now!Grin

Bluebell20 · 04/03/2016 20:08

Scase congrats on becoming an auntie!

Indians - man, I recognise that level of anxiety. It sucks. I did speak to my GP today and he was absolutely lovely. He said the fact that the rash has gone means it is not a worry, but he suggested that I have an appointment with a female doctor to show me how to examine my breasts properly so that I can be more confident, and he booked that in for me. I do so love the NHS.

Also, I love your little boy's outfit!

Carla congratulations on the flat and the scan. I always think big moments like that are never how I imagined they would be! Just think about how lovely it will be to be in the flat with your little baby in the summer Smile

Beautician I am so glad you are out of that awful work situation!

I had a lovely day teaching. My little kids worked really hard and were unusually well behaved! Such a pleasure to teach on days like that!

Ellizardo · 04/03/2016 20:13

Carla - lovely scan pics and congrats on house purchase. I totally know what you mean about no one sharing the good news tho and empty places are, well, empty. But a bit of ikea and eBay will do wonders as will a new day. my advice : house plants and tea lights all the way!

Scase1firsttimemum · 04/03/2016 20:39

Cheery1 · 04/03/2016 21:25

Congratulations on good news at scans ladies - dekighted for you all. Half way!!!

Carla - bloomin well done on doing all that on your own. So sorry lead up to scan was stressful but great that all is well. I agree with elizardo - tea lights and plants all the way, I'd put up a picture or two as well, and maybe fairy lights....but that's just me. X

Scase - congratulations on the arrival of your baby niece.
Also congratulations on all the scans & pics.

HopesAndDreams15 · 05/03/2016 07:35

Thanks for the new thread Allthegood can't believe we're half way already.

Scase he's so cute, congratulations on becoming an aunty!

Beaut glad you've got your job sorted and you can now just totally be your own boss until baby arrives.

Carla lovely pic, congrats.

Birchybaby congrats on team blue!

Vikki hope you had a better nights sleep!

I've been very proactive since my scan, I've sorted out the pram (decided on Bugaboo Cam 3 after much deliberation) and have ordered the nursery furniture...now I've started I can't stop buying! Blush

Struggling with names, DH and DC's want George but I like Arthur and can't see them coming round to my way of thinking! There's nothing we all agree on Confused

Have a good weekend everyone.

primarynoodle · 05/03/2016 07:50

hopes Me and DP both love Arthur but we have had to veto as our rabbit is called Arthur and will likely be with us for many years yet!

Hes a free range house rabbit/dog... (its been a while since we had a cat photo!)

Bluebell20 · 05/03/2016 09:30

Vikki hope you had a good sleep!

Scase he is a cutie pie.

birchy congrats on the scans, and I will join you in the click clacking of needles. Got my eye on some lovely little patterns. Boy clothes are so BLUE in the shops - I am looking forward to making a variety of bright coloured garments!

Hopes I like Arthur too but DH has vetoed. We like George as well but won't use it as a first name as the other new baby in our family has a very royal name too!

Loving the rabbit and cat!

Anyone else making a point of singing now that the baby's hearing has developed a bit? I am singing him all the songs my mum sang to me as lullabies, so that he might feel familiar with them when he comes out! Feel a bit ridiculous sometimes, but ultimately it gives me the warm and fuzzies so I don't care!

allthegoodnamesalreadytaken · 05/03/2016 10:01

Lovely photo scase I love cute newborn photos. Sounds like she had a quick labour!

Cute rabbit and cat photos

carla sorry to hear about your fall but congrats on your flat and scan. I felt the same as you when I bought my first flat a few years ago. I was mid 20s and still single at the time so no one to share it with and I found it really hard. I remember one day trying to plumb in my new washing machine and accidentally cutting my hand open and just crying loads that I didn't have anyone to share the hard work with. It was at a time when quite a few of my closest friends were all settling down with their partners as well so that made it even worse. I felt a real sense of achievement once I got all the decorating etc done though so hang in there and once you've made it all homely it will feel fab!

bluebell i'm so glad you've said that about the singing I thought I was the only one. I've been belting out all the Disney classics around the house over the last week or so. DH probably thinks I'm a bit loopy.

Been up since the crack of dawn baking these little beauties for our gender reveal family get together later (all very americanised but the family are indulging us at the mo as we're still in prized first born mode Grin)
