Morning All

Indians - totally agree with you re shape and outfits. Had Chinese banquet family thing yesterday and ended up wearing an horrendous mishmash of clothing and shoes. Felt crap about myself but at least my make up (which I had actually bothered to do properly) was ok.

Just saying to OH that I can't wait to do a massive wardrobe clear out in July and have started saving for the purpose.

gnat99 · 13/03/2016 08:26

Yes I too have been despairing at my wardrobe. Especially with the season change upon us. Been washing and putting things away till autumn but tempted at times to just chuck the lot! Finding it hard to judge what will fit me in August/September post-baby. But surely won't have much time then either to be shopping for new clothes. Hmmm.

Indians, I agree about the sober effect. It's really the opposite of rose tinted glasses, isn't it?!

Hope everyone is having a lovely start to Sunday. I've had some herbal tea in bed, am hoping for some decaf normal tea soon with crumpets and rum butter (homemade by MiL, left over from Christmas).

Might get up for that. Otherwise no incentive to get up really.

Thom80 · 13/03/2016 08:46

Gnat - the crumpet with rum butter sounds amazing. I am looking forward to a hot cross bun for breakfast.
I am off to accupunture this morning. Can't wait to see if she can help with the back & other random pains!! I will be getting a Gails cookie afterwards as a treat!

pulpi · 13/03/2016 09:16

Hi all! We went down to Edinburgh yesterday and hit Ikea and Mothercare. I'm feeling a lot more calm now that we have a cot and some clothes. But by far, the best find were these linen trousers at Mothercare that are just so very comfy. I'll be living in them for the remaining months, easy.

DH felt the baby kick yesterday, which was pretty damned exciting.

21+3

BelOfTheBall79 · 13/03/2016 10:20

Morning all, so lovely to catch up on your news! I'm in bed still, the naughty cats woke me up at 4:22 and I couldn't get back to sleep for hours, so DH has left me up here to rest while he goes to make breakfast for his DM who is staying this weekend (he also brought some Shreddies up for me although v jealous of the crumpets now).

We went shopping yesterday and MIL got us a couple of outfits for the baby, so lovely of her (she waited to see what we liked before offering). They're the first clothes we've got. Need to get lots of the basics now though, and will def be using the lists some of you have posted to help guide those purchases...

Nowhere to actually put the clothes at the moment as nursery is a tip awaiting decoration! Although we have ordered a carpet which will be fitted first week of April so DH has to finish the painting by then. Good target for him!

Think I am also going to order some nursery furniture today. Plus have some Mothercare vouchers (if you sign up to their website you get £100 of vouchers (although all spend x and get £5 off) so will probably start getting some stuff from there as the vouchers expire at the end of March. Trying not to go over board with buying things but the "must haves" seem to add up to a reasonable amount before you even get to some of the extra nice stuff!

Probably also need to go for bra fitting. I had bought some one size up from regular but they're too tight now! This is a major thing for me as I've never been very big there, very exciting! Hope some of it remains...

Need to think of something nice to do with MIL today. We were going to go to a nearby stately home place but it doesn't open til end of March. Country pub lunch for me I think!

Happy Sunday xx

birchybaby2 · 13/03/2016 10:22

Lazy morning here with tea and pancakes yum yum. Daughters had a sleepover (bout the 3rd time in 7 years), house is so quiet. Still in pjs. Even the weather has improved. Happy Sunday everyone. Xx

BelOfTheBall79 · 13/03/2016 10:23

Pulpi just saw that you felt the baby kick! It is very exciting isn't it. I think mine is training to be a footballer in there...

pulpi · 13/03/2016 10:46

Bel, I had no idea about the Mothercare vouchers. I'm going to head up to the one in Dundee in a few weeks so I'll be sure to sign up before then!

And yes, he's got a good kick.. or elbow.. His Spanish cousins are obsessed with football (naturally) and so they are very excited that between this wee one and his Canadian cousins, we have nearly enough for our own football team!

GoingLoopyQuickly · 13/03/2016 12:10

We picked up a lovely wooden cot bed from ebay for DS amd bought a new mattress from kiddicare.

If we are able to find out if this bump is girl or boy I will decide whether we reuse the bed (new mattress) for little and upgrade DS bed or get another second hand cot bed (friend has offered us one) with a new mattress and then get bunks later.

Scase1firsttimemum · 13/03/2016 17:37

I bought a Breville blender today and some fruits for smoothies, just tried it out and I love it!! Cant wait for slushies and smoothies in the summer!

MrsRolly · 13/03/2016 18:44

I may have got a bit excited in m&s and got a few gorgeous bits for winter in the sale. Poor DH realised the increase in clothes costs as my current DD also got a few bargains as well WinkGrin

Going to do a bit of ebaying this week as we are slowly beginning the sort of what will be the nursery. So that may balance out his worries although I feel it's out of my system now ha ha

Hope everyone managed to enjoy this spring sunshine. Just makes everything seem so much easier somehow.

I feel like I have suddenly developed a huge bump from nowhere, feeling it in my lower back today after walking about 6 miles :)

MrsRolly · 13/03/2016 18:46

Also scase, I have a stand up blender which I love. Fantastic for quick breakfasts on the go as well and so easy to clean. Have fun making new combos up.

smallplainblonde · 13/03/2016 19:16

Hi ladies, hope you all had a great weekend. I'm just back from my friends hen weekend which I am have to be honest was a bit of a struggle as the only sober person. I couldn't wait to get home today and the bus broke down so poor DH had to do a 2.5 hour round trip to collect some of us. At home now in my pjs! So tired. My bump seems to have grown over night, my friends kept saying today I looked pregnant and yesterday I didn't really. 21 + 1

indians same. I'm living in the same few things. So boring . Being out around drunk people is hilarious. Found myself becoming very judgy Blush

Dd2 had a high temp this afternoon then turned into sick everywhere. All while dh at work. Funnn. Poor little one. Lots of scarlet fever around, how do you know if that is what it is?!

Gnat your morning sounds heavenly. I hadn't even thought about wardrobe for August time. Struggling for now. Can't wait to ditch the coat!
scase I love my blender. I have a nutri bullet and couldn't be with out it now. Great if you put yogurt / oats in for breakfast on the go.
Mrsrolly exciting about your purchases . I tend to keep mine on the D.L from DH Grin
I said on FB but so many kicks yesterday and today - out of nowhere, it's like my placenta has moved or something?!

Scase1firsttimemum · 13/03/2016 19:39

BelOfTheBall79 · 13/03/2016 19:48

Indians fab pic from last night. You looked very glam...don't think I've looked like that for some time...

Re cakes I have a real craving for a very gooey chocolate orange cake.

Scase your silhouette pic is very cool! Might have to see if I can recreate that at some point.

Ladies I think I am now really getting on it with baby prep. Now have the majority of clothes for first month or so. Bought a job lot of baby grow packs today. Have a full list on excel of things we need to get. Kicking into gear!

BelOfTheBall79 · 13/03/2016 19:50

Cookies, hope DD is better

Thom80 · 13/03/2016 19:59

Scase & Indiansinthe lobby - I love the bump pics. I have been taking mine in my pjs. I may have to up my game! I think that my bump has really popped out over the weekend. No disguising I am pregnant.
Indiansintgelobby - I am not sure where you are based, but I love konditor&cook lemon chiffon cake from Waterloo.
I am still too nervous about buying anything, my hubby feels the same. We are thinking if not purchasing anything until June. We might be being a bit extreme. By then I will only be able to shop online. Doing my research now!
I hope everyone is having a fun Sunday evening. I am showered in my pjs! Perfect

primarynoodle · 13/03/2016 20:43

I know what you mean about being sober being the complete opposite of rose tinted glasses! Ive had two or three nights exposed to dp's drunken family arguments which have made me seriously Hmm

Anyone else going to claim maternity allowance? When are we supposed to have the forms in by?

Thom80 · 13/03/2016 20:49

Primary noodle - what is maternity allowance?

Cookiesandcoffee · 13/03/2016 20:53

indians you look GREAT!! Smile hadn't seen your pic before

Cookiesandcoffee · 13/03/2016 20:56

scase you look lovely what a nice pic. Is that down in Christchurch by any chance? I made the mistake of being mostly naked in mine so don't feel like I can share Hmm
thom maternity allowance is what you apply for if you don't get maternity pay from your employer. Eg if you're self employed, don't earn enough to qualify. Last time I was a few pounds a week under the cut off for maternity pay so had to apply for allowance instead
