Hey everyone, looks like I'm not going to be on TV. Dh is really against me going he thinks that getting on a bus for an hour to sit in a tv audience for stupide talk show is a waste of time and bus fair. We really fought about it, because being from two different cultures sometimes we really clash on things like this. So it's just easier to let it go than keep pushing the idea.
But he may be able to come to the ultrasound next week, so I can forgive him. He's such an ass sometimes though.

SOH, I feel your pain. When I found out ds was going to be a boy, I was sad for a while. It took me a long time to get over it, and during the birth I was still hoping I would get a girl. I know someone that was so set on a girl that when her son was born she didn't even want to hold her!

MKG · 04/01/2007 12:25

Her=him

MKG · 04/01/2007 12:29

On a good not, Am offically 20 weeks today, and 6 days until the scan.

MKG · 04/01/2007 12:30

not=note, remind not to post until I've eaten breakfast.

Frenchsmallfry · 04/01/2007 12:31

Morning all;

Pissed off with dh this morning, he told me he wasn't working today as he has to go to the hospital to see the anesthetist (sp) this afternoon. I didn't mind at first until I've just asked him what time his appointment is. Bloody 5.30pm!!!!!! I don't expect him to work all the time as thats not the reason we moved to France but he didn't work the whole of December and has only done 2 days this week. Has to have 2 weeks off after his op next week. How does he think we can afford to live with no money coming in for 2mths. Oh the joys of being self employed.

12 weeks and AM, they are lovely scan pics. Well done.

Lg&t, didn't you do your bathroom yesterday?

Ohh, I can reach my boobs too. Tried in the bath this morning and was most pleased to have been afiliated to the breast licking club. lol

lol at 36 minutes on the naughty step. CM, hope you've got two different steps bottom in your house otherwise your two are going to have great fun on it together instead of realising the errors of their ways.

I watched Celeb BB last night but I have to say, where are the celebs!!!! Sorry if anyone likes any of them but they are not very interesting.

Hoovering is a sore subject in our house at the moment. The upright bit on our hoover is boken at the moment so it's a hand and knees job, which I'm refusing to do. Fortunatly we only have a few rugs to do so it's not drastic.

Hope you all have a nice, clean, enjoyable day, this thread is nearly X-rated!

Frenchsmallfry · 04/01/2007 12:37

SLAP soh

No, it's ok, you shouldn't feel selfish. You had all your hopes on finding out yesterday and then it didn't happen. It's just your natural dissapointment, try to be positive, it will be even more exciting at your next scan as you will have waited and waited for it.

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 04/01/2007 12:39

SOH, I think a lot of private companies would do Saturdays. My friend (albeit in Ireland) had hers on a bank holiday! And you don't have to go for the all-singing all-dancing 4D scan. They'd do a normal 2D one like you just had fairly reasonably I think. Or a slightly more expensive 3D one where they just find out the sex and have a whizz round to look at the baby. The 4D "packages" are expensive becuase they spend about 40 mins scanning you and give you dvds and things. Do some Googling. Plus, if you can visit a clinic outside of central London, then it will be cheaper.

Frenchsmallfry · 04/01/2007 12:40

Oh thats such a shame MKG, you sounded like you were quite looking forward to being on T.V. Men!!!!!!! Sorry he's an ass sometimes why oh why, I just don't understans the species at all!!!!

Great news that he may make it to the scan though. Not sure whether my dh will as it only 4 days after his back op.

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 04/01/2007 12:40

FSF, that would annoy me too, for what it's worth!

And I agree about the celebs. They are non-celebs or ex-celebs. Very poor.

JonahB · 04/01/2007 12:45

Hi All,

Haven't got time to write a full post, however, I did feel, in order to protect and defend my DH that i must point out that he doesn't wee on the bathroom floor and it certainly not scared by the sight of it when he does (in the toilet, i must hastily add) . He would be so delighted to learn that I am discussing his tickle-tackle with you lot of porno-guzzling hormonal ladies ....

Showofhands, it was me with the anterior placenta. It is a shame, one of the only things I enjoyed about the last pgy was feeling the baby kick, so I?ll be really disappointed if I don?t get any helpful whacks this time.

ShowOfHands · 04/01/2007 12:49

I've googled and googled and can't find anything cheap and nearer to me than Cambridge. Just a scan to tell me gender, no photos, no DVD, no extras £125 plus train fare!

It's looking like I will have to wait until I give birth to find out.

OP posts:
twelveweekstomaternityleave · 04/01/2007 13:05

Babybond have a clinic in Chelmsford, SW London, Heathrow, Milton Keynes and others. £75 for gender only, although only do weekdays for that. I'm sure we can do better... Where are you near again?

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 04/01/2007 13:09

I should probably drop this shouldn't I? I'm a bad influence.

largeginandtonic · 04/01/2007 13:27

Ive told you SOH pack your bags....

FSF i hoovered yesterday, no bathroom cleaning. I have done it now!

Am sooooo pleased, am domestic goddess....

MKG you are good to not go....id have gone anyway! Sorr you wont get your claim to fame!

SKYTVADDICT · 04/01/2007 13:28

I have just looked and there is nothing around me in Lincolnshire (not cheap anyway!) - I have to say I am not surprised!

I am really happy as I have just worked out my maternity leave properly and can leave on 23 March and not come back until 24 January next year! Thats only 12 weeks to go (twelve weeks - now I understand the name!!)

largeginandtonic · 04/01/2007 13:30

FSF hands and knees hoovering.. het Harrison to do it, he is closer to the ground! Your dh should work while he can, i bet it's you who does all the day to day worry about money and bills, food etc....men just dont get it sometimes!

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 04/01/2007 13:39

I agree MKG. It's so hard to let things go sometimes. Well done you for being ok with it.

SkyTV - Woo hoo for time off! Yay! Something to look forward to now. x

I have just had the weirdest feeling. It's suddenly just hit me, the enormity of what is happening to me. I think I was so young when I had DD that it didn't mean so much to me, and also it was all very stressful with it being unplanned and all. I just nearly burst into tears thinking about how huge it all is. I suppose everyone else has already been through this! I feel like a bit of a wally. I just want to go home and have a good wail.

largeginandtonic · 04/01/2007 13:43

It happens every time i get preg 12weeks, i go for months not really contemplating it and suddenly...whoosh....it hits me. I too wail, quietly to myself usually. Let it out you feel better and the feeling will pass, quite often im left feeling really excited afterwards. A baby...how lovely

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 04/01/2007 13:46

Thanks LG&T. So I'm not mad? Or if I am, I have company?

Think I will try to hold in the tears until after I leave work though...

preggerspoppet · 04/01/2007 13:57

omg I've just scanned though since my post yesterday and I really can't keep up!
I've gone from hoovering to scans to orgasms in a split second, but I think I get the general idea...

How many due-in-may's are there?

ok, here is my info

Me 26 paediatric nurse turned childminder
dh 26 very gorgeous indeed, runs an extreme sport centre
ds1 7 very arty and a fantastic big brother
ds2 14m So cute and cheeky, thinks he is at least 4 years old.

I'm due on the 15th may so i guess 21 weeks, having a homebirth.
No problems with preg so far other than unstable pelvis (spd) had it with ds2 but it's worse already this time.
Backed out last minute on finding out the sex as I am really happy to have either and look forward to a surprise (and incentive to push)
Um... what else....
been on mn for about a year, spend more time reading than posting but have found myself in the thick of certain heated debates before now

can't think of much else so I'm going to go and read your stats thread!

nice meeting you all!

ShowOfHands · 04/01/2007 13:59

Oh I don't mind any help with looking for an affordable option. I live in Norfolk (back end of nowhere) if anybody can find anything. I suppose Milton Keynes is not too far...

Otherwise I'm going to visit LG&T and her brood. She's offered now and she can't take it back!

MKG · 04/01/2007 14:00

OK house is clean, laundry is in, I'm eating breakfast and am free to post all day now. My New Year's Resolution is to be more organised. So I'm trying to maintain a clean house, and get myself together earlier. I think that is the biggest challenge of the SAHM: finding a reason to get dressed if you aren't going out.

Well with DH I figure I have to pick my battles. And I may have lost this one, but as a forward thinker I know that he'll owe me later. I'm just waiting for my time to pounce.

twelveweekstomaternityleave · 04/01/2007 14:01

Yes, we are rather talkative. Well, there's a core group of us that are complete gasbags anyway!

Sorry about your SPD. Hope you don't feel too poorly.

LG&T, meant to say. I resisted the bikkies. Just had tuna salad, ryvita and cheese and a muller rice for my pudding. I feel rather virtuous!
