Come one, come all it's the TTC#1 Grads thread! Everyone welcome so long as you're not put off by graphic descriptions of the lunch we couldn't keep down or the weird pregnancy symptoms we just have to share.

Our lovely ladies now span many stages of upduffedness from "woohoo BFP, now let me pee on 58 more sticks just to be sure" to "Oh my god, why don't they warn you what morning sickness is really like?" To" I need to pee 132 times a day but look at my cute scan photo!"

if you're looking for advice, banter and support, along with the occasional scan photo or rant, you are definitely in the right place.

It was the same for me lisa my DH actually commented that until we saw a heartbeat it always seemed like I had a slight worry or distraction in my face. Now I feel I can enjoy and be positive - they double in size every week apparently so by the time you and I get our NHS scans we'll be seeing a lot more Smile

Mileymoocow · 05/03/2016 13:10

lisa I was the same when we went for our early scan. I almost cried with relief when I saw a heartbeat and now feel I can actually look forward to October.

I'm having good days and bad days with my nausea and vomiting which is 50% better than what I was Grin today seems to be a good day - only vomited twice and managed a hot cross bun, yogurt drink and some soup. I had a good day last weekend and thought I was on the mend only to be violently ill the next day so I'm taking advantage and eating as much as I can today in preparation for the shit storm tomorrow.

Anyway, exciting news - we get to tell my family tomorrow and MIL has already knit a white cardigan with little duck buttons. It's so cute 😍 i'll be 9 weeks on Monday so as soon as we have our 12 week scan we can let the cat out of the bag, which I think will be a big relief (especially at work as people will understand why I've been off).

Sorry for the long post, I'm having a feeling almost human day and I'm enjoying it

LisaTheGreek · 05/03/2016 13:30

Miley, a cardigan with duck buttons sounds adorable! I want one!

Co5mo · 05/03/2016 15:25

MIL has also started knitting. She has a bright white holey matinee coat on the needles that is very old fashioned and not in a good way. Completely acrylic yarn too so I doubt I'll ever put it on the baby. Don't want to seem ungrateful but I'm a self confessed yarn snob when it comes to hand knitted clothes. I wouldn't wear an acrylic cardigan or jumper myself so why would I put my baby in it. Confused How on earth do I deal with this one?

Pinklily1 · 05/03/2016 16:29

Hi ladies

Cosmo, I'd say accept it gratefully s d be sure to put baby in it at least once when you know MIL is visiting so will see, and never put baby in it otherwise.

My mum is knitting lots of cardigans but thankfully out of super soft wool and she always asks me before if I like the intended design. Baby is going to be all snug in Autumn!

shelbTa · 05/03/2016 17:29

Hi ladies,

Ah exciting miley telling family!

How is everyone?

I'm having a bit of a down day! Caused by two things - OH saying last night (when drunk) that he thought the baby has come along a bit too soon (first cycle off the pill when we thought it would take a few). He instantly retracted it and said he meant thought he'd have a bit longer to save up etc but can't seem to shake it off. And then saw some friends this morning who are not pregnant and still in the going out partying phase - made me feel a bit scared and alone!

Sorry for whinge!

X

Co5mo · 05/03/2016 18:26

Pink this is almost certainly the start of an obsession for MIL. I'm thinking I might have to buy her some yarn because i couldn't possibly expect her to but all that yarn and start cooing over much more modern patterns. That or just out knit her until she gives up.

Shelb thoughts like this are completely natural for any parent to be. I'm 35 so don't really want to leave it much longer but still have the occasional feeling that we might have made a mistake. It's just natural when you're going into a life changing time especially when there are so many unknowns.

shelbTa · 05/03/2016 19:11

Thanks Cosmo X

Pinklily1 · 05/03/2016 19:29

Maybe buy her some and just say you were out shopping, saw it and loved the wool, and could she please knot you something using it. That surely couldn't offend!

Shelb, men don't engage their brains sometimes before they talk so they Hmm

Mileymoocow · 05/03/2016 19:35

co5mo take a photo of baby in it, send her it then make on that the material gave baby a rash!

shelb I'm 26 and my friends are always going out for prosecco afternoon teas/cocktail nights etc. I guess some people just sort of advance in life at different rates. I do sometimes worry I'll be left out of things but then I guess that's ok because I'll have something 100000x more precious to me. Men panic, it's what they do. My OH hasn't been away from work since we found out we were expecting as he feels the need to rake in extra money.

Sodasoda · 05/03/2016 22:47

Thanks for the tip re bloods mor

shelb I think what you're feeling is totally normal. It's a massive, life-changing thing we're all going through, it would probably be strange if we didn't have a few doubts! It took me 10 months TTC after bc so I do feel really ready and I'm probably glad it did take me a while as I might have panicked a bit if it happened straight away - although obviously I was very impatient and stressed at the time!! My friends pretty much are all pregnant / have babies so I don't feel I'm missing out too much.

co5mo - it probably depends on your relationship with MIL. With mine I'd probably pretend I liked it. But if it gets a bit full on you could discuss patterns and try and steer her.

Mileymoocow · 06/03/2016 08:26

Happy mothers day everyone!!! GrinFlowersCake

OH woke up early this morning, kissed my forehead and said good morning beautiful, happy mothers day. It really didn't occur to me that I qualified for it this year! I'm still grinning Grin

Danni89 · 06/03/2016 08:37

I got a card from my OH, so bloody cute!!

Happy Mothers Day all! X

LaraG13 · 06/03/2016 08:40

Happy mothers' day mums-to-be!! Hope you're all doing well.

I'm battling constant nausea/hunger. Or Hausea as I like to call it...

shelb I definitely have moments where I feel uncertain and worry I'm making a mistake. The lack of freedom and little things like the fact I won't be able to just go to the gym or have a nap worry me. I think it's normal.

Planeteer · 06/03/2016 08:54

Happy Mother's Day all! DH is away skiing but left a card for me to find. Might have had a little watery eyed moment!

Hope you all have lovely days. Miley, when are you off to Dubai?

LisaTheGreek · 06/03/2016 09:07

Planet, Danni, and Miley - you lucky little things! Your OHs sound lovely.

I know it will have genuinely never occurred to me DH to do anything now today. I always have to remind him to actually do something for his OWN parents on Mother's Day and Father's Day, so I think I should lower my expectations... Grin

Woke up needing to be sick (morning ritual), but now after sipping water and eating a muesli bar I'm a bit better, so ready to face the day.

Mileymoocow · 06/03/2016 09:08

I got a card, a box of toffee and some caramac buttons bless him. I cried too

planet We go on the 14th to London for 2 nights then fly from Heathrow on 16th Smile I'm hoping I'm a little better by then, though I have just spewed my yogurt drink back up into the kitchen sink...

Pinklily1 · 06/03/2016 09:18

My OH apparently thought about getting me a card but didn't. I'm sure he will say it's the thought that counts!!

Miley, your yogurt drink experience does not sound pleasant!

For those in the second trimester, are you still getting up in the night to go to the toilet? I'm up 2-3 times every night and I'm just desperate for one night of uninterrupted sleep (appreciate this will never happen when baby arrives!).

Mileymoocow · 06/03/2016 09:21

pink it was horrendously unpleasant, it was still cold! Oh noooooo, so I have that to look forward to in a few weeks time! Booooo to uninterrupted sleep.

So today's the day I tell my parents and grandparents (and possibly brother and his fiancée for wedding reasons)

BunchOfBobs · 06/03/2016 09:35

Eek this time next year we'll all be proper mothers!

I told DH not to get me anything as I think it would freak me out this year. It's nice knowing I'll get it next year though.

Pink I've only had two nights in the last 12 weeks where I haven't got up to pee. I still wake up trying to get comfy in those nights though. It's supposed to have calmed down as uterus moves away from bladder but I'm still waiting for it to happen.

I'm starting my embroidery designs for the nursery wall today. So excited.

Pinklily1 · 06/03/2016 09:57

I think it would freak me out a bit to Bunch but I do think it's lovely how thoughtful some of our OH's are!

Hopefully the weeing will settle down. At the minute I am vampire pale, spotty and snotty, so not the glowing lady the books would have you believe the second trimester brings!

For those in maternity clothes, have people bought maternity jeans? If so, which ones, are they under or over bump and are they any good? I got some Topshop Joni ones which are great but I they've now sold out in the blue colour I want and so I'm on the hunt for some different ones. They need to be skinny fit.

Nevlet · 06/03/2016 10:09

Pink i am in matalan denim look leggings have never found jeans comfy and these look just like skinny jeans on!

So just weighed myself at 14 weeks first time since 7 weeks... Lost two pounds! Admittedly I had some extra weight to start with but have been majorly stressing about putting weight on over first trimester with the beige diet am very relieved it hasnt made me pile on the pounds!

Enjoy your Sunday everyone Thanks

BunchOfBobs · 06/03/2016 10:18

Pink you sound like my twin. Just add in greasy hair to boot!

I have topshop Jaime uber numb jeans and two pairs of h&m over bump jeans. I find the topshop comfort but I have to pull them up a fair bit. The h&m ones are great but the end of the denim bit (the top of the fake waistband) is so low it can make you think your knickers are falling down. That took some getting used to. Love them all now. I've recently discovered maternity tights too so I can wear dresses again.

I've been reading a thread about how grateful mums are this Mother's Day and had a little cry. People are so lovely. Those of you who are being spoiled today have a lovely day. In going to start dropping hints for what I'd like next year Smile

LillianFullStop · 06/03/2016 10:29

Happy Mother's Day to the mothers-to-be! So sweet those that got lovely cards! No card for me but DH is taking me on a brunch date a little later.

We had a Fathers Day lunch in June last year for our bean that sadly mc but I still remember it as a happy day and I'm glad we did it.

Pinklily1 · 06/03/2016 10:35

I'll have a look at the Jaimie ones; thanks Bunch. Which brand maternity tights did you get? I was going to get some m&s ones as that's what I usually wear but the reviews are awful!

I've got really dry and knotty hair! I'm sure the 'glowing' will kick in for us both at some point Smile How many weeks are you now?
