We can't decide on names at all. It's so hard! I want something traditional but not too common and DP likes really obscure names. We'll have to meet in the middle somewhere. If we have a boy I wanted to name him after my brother who died when he was only four, but I'm not sure how my mum would feel about it. My DP likes the name but it may be better to use it as a middle name instead.

We've also not bought anything yet but I do have some donations waiting to be collected. My DP doesn't want to have stuff in too early incase something goes wrong. He's very anxious due to the pregnancy being a result of IVF. I'm off from 32 weeks though so I will start stocking up from then.

Feeling some very strong kicks now at 25 weeks but they have been slow getting started today.

MollieRos · 05/03/2016 19:31

Osirus that's the kind of name we're trying to find too- traditional but not too common. We're really struggling though!

Belleboo23 · 05/03/2016 19:51

Glad we are not the only ones struggling with names my ds and dd were already named by now for this one I'm having such a hard time coming up with another girls name I like as much. I want something traditional, not common but not too out there. I find myself reading the end credits of programmes for ideas!!

cautiousoptimist1 · 05/03/2016 20:11

I'm finding names difficult too, luckily we both like quite classic names but we haven't agreed on one yet. We are team yellow too so have to find 2 names but we will get there. I was getting quite stressed about it but my DH basically told me not to worry about it, he can't be called baby x so we will find one at some point, even if that's not until June!

LouLou030783 · 05/03/2016 20:22

So glad I'm not only one with naming issues lol OH only likes 2 girls names one of which I don't like and he likes absolutely no boys names at all it's a nightmare

He's totally clueless that baby is a boy so it's rather frustrating

MollieRos · 05/03/2016 20:25

Haha belle that's our strategy too- we sit and watch the end credits calling out names to each other Grin One of the main reasons we found out whether it was a boy or a girl was to cut the name decision making by half!

earlgreydrinker · 05/03/2016 21:20

This might be a bit extreme but we liked a couple of names so to be sue I went on the ONS website, copied the top 400 boys names from 2014, took out the top 10, the weird spellings, the definite no'a. Left with about 100 which we whittled down. And guess what we are back on the same name! I know not everyone will like it but that's tough, it's pretty classic. Going to have FIL's name as our middle name as he passed away just after we found out I was pregnant with DD.

GrubbyWindows · 05/03/2016 22:29

We are terrible at names, DS was named at almost 6 weeks old... That said, we do have a fairly likely choice already this time, which feels weird. We did end up discussing it with family with DS last time, as we were so stuck, but I don't feel like discussing it this time that we have an actual contender!
I totally agree that you need to talk about it if you are thinking of using a name of a close family member, especially after such a recent bereavement. It could be very hard for everyone to handle the feelings all at once, if it is just presented as a fait accompli.

mrsmugoo · 05/03/2016 22:35

We are back to the drawing board on names now! The family one I liked was discussed again this evening and is a definite no.

We seem to be on the same page with the type of names we like but my DH struggles to commit to chiding food off a menu so this stuff just blows his mind!

I would like to choose soonish because I want to start thinking of her in terms of her name, but I know he will want to go down to the wire on it!

laughingGnomette · 06/03/2016 07:05

Happy Mother's Day to all of you (including mums to be!). Flowers

LouLou030783 · 06/03/2016 08:03

Same to you gnomette X

Torfhinn · 06/03/2016 08:19

I had lunch with my best friend yesterday and have just realised today is her birthday Shock I thought it was next weekend! Quick scramble round today for a present, methinks Grin

On a positive note, i am still in bed, so mothers day is going well!

Happy mothers day to all the mummies and mummies-to-be

BiffleRoo · 06/03/2016 14:38

We have a name for our little princess but are keeping it from friends and family until she arrives as someone always has an opinion. DH included her name in my Mother's Day card which is lovely.

jbiscuits · 07/03/2016 09:07

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

We're also completely stuck on names. We have a few shortlisted, but none that I'm completely convinced by.

Am currently waiting for my GTT, but am very disappointed to find I have hardly any phone signal, as I was relying on mumsnet to amuse me for at least half the time (also have a book and knitting though fortunately!)

bikingintherain · 07/03/2016 09:16

Hope it goes ok biscuits.

We're on the last day of half term here. I am very ready for the kids to be back at school. DH has had a crazy week with work, and being tired (although not so as exhausted as before) I haven't had the energy to pack it full of activities. So I think now we could all do with a return to normality. I didn't realise quite how much energy the kids used up at school!

Belleboo23 · 07/03/2016 09:31

I felt guilty in our half term we didn't do much at all but thankfully my two were worn out and glad of the rest with me! Dd is really in to minecraft and will sit playing two player with me for ages which suits me at the minute!! I'm struggling so much to sleep at the minute was awake twice in the night last night convincing myself something was wrong and baby was very active which didn't help!

laughingGnomette · 07/03/2016 09:36

I hope it goes ok for you biscuits! I've got mine tomorrow, the hospital has free wifi so I'm hoping that is working!
I had a nice day yesterday but felt very tired and sore. I also had braxton hicks for the first time ever so I now know what they feel like!

LouLou030783 · 07/03/2016 09:39

Hope it goes ok biscuits x

jbiscuits · 07/03/2016 09:49

Thanks everyone. First blood test down, just 2 hours to wait now...

laughingGnomette · 07/03/2016 10:19

Anyone else feeling hot? It's freezing outside and the air con is on in the office but I'm so warm, my cheeks are bright red and have been all day. I'm wearing trousers and a lightweight blouse so can't remove any layers. Is this the pregnancy 'glow'?!!

Eastend2015 · 07/03/2016 10:45

Haha Gnomette keep getting hot flushes here too!

Saw the GP this morning and heard the heartbeat again Grin although bubs gave a really strong kick to try and get the Doppler off which was amazing- I haven't seen a kick from the outside before. Also quite reassuring as the baby was quieter yesterday- but then I was pretty knackered too from lots of decorating.

I also got my Matb1 form which I have just sent to HR, hooray, another milestone!

cautiousoptimist1 · 07/03/2016 11:03

Hope all goes well with your GTT biscuits.

Gnomette yes me! I'm in the office with red cheeks and a short sleeved dress, our air con is on. Some other women have complained about it so half of the vent near me is taped up so I get the full force of the air con and it still doesn't help - the other women are genuinely sitting here is big outdoor coats!

I'm really struggling with sleep at the moment, I was awake 3 or 4 times in the night and couldn't get back to sleep between 3 and 4:30. I should have stayed in and worked from home but I don't like to think I'm taking advantage. I'm regretting my stubbornness a bit now! I also have a really sore throat that I can't take anything for.

strawberrypenguin · 07/03/2016 12:23

Hope GTT went ok biscuits
Good luck for yours tomorrow gnomette
I seem to be hot in the evening once I've stopped and am sat on the sofa and overnight. Normal during the day though! So not quite sure what my body is up to there, it's not like our house is overly hot and it's the same whether I've been at work (fairly cold office) or home during the day.
We managed to decorate our living room last week (week off work) so that job is done! It looks lovely hadn't realised quite how dull it had got, we've been in the house 4 years and we'd never decorated it so it was needed.
Just need to repaint one wall in what will become babies room (it's currently bright pink and while I'm not overly gender specific about colours I'd much rather change it now) - we're going for a nice green and some decals as DS1 has a very cool space wall painted by a friend of ours and we want something similar for new baby too but won't have chance to paint pictures in the same way.

strawberrypenguin · 07/03/2016 12:24

Hope your throat feels better soon. cautious try a hot honey and lemon that can help.

Cartooner · 07/03/2016 13:21

Hope all ok here. I find it hard to keep up with the amount of people on the thread but I enjoy reading. If you think names are hard, I'm on my 4th boy... crikey, I've no idea now what to call him. The girl name was decided in 2006 and we'll never get to use it now!!

I have just been signed off for three days with a virus. My son has smacked cheek and I have similar symptoms, although I know the risk is very small I had a blood test and told to rest. I haven't been signed off before on pregnancy except at the end and given I feel wrecked, slightly fluffy but not proper go to bed sick, it feels so luxurious to think I don't have to leave the house for three days! I never needed it so much.
