Fuzzyowl yes exactly. And it makes total sense. I was horrified when I found out that the 12 week scan is done in the antenatal department - at least in the fertility unit and EPU you're away from the normal preggos. Obv most people @ the 12 week scan are fine, but if you're not, I think it's hideous to have to come out of the scan into a waiting room of pregnant women

This is my first pregnancy so no history of mc yet, but because we're IVF the clinic does a viability scan to confirm a clinical pregnancy, so we had a scan at 7+1. Dr recommended a Panorama test @ 10 weeks when they will do a scan as well.

Hoping you feel more reassured following your scan and have everything crossed that your pregnancy goes smoothly xx

bananafish81 · 03/03/2016 12:45

Sorry fuzzyowl I'd blame baby brain, but it's just me being dippy. I had cross posts in my head with Juliette who had her scan this morning. Ignore me!! Confused

FuzzyOwl · 03/03/2016 13:03

The odds of a mmc are supposed to be very low (1%?) but certainly online it seems far more women than that have had them. I was told that once you see a heartbeat on a scan, your odds of a mc are drastically reduced. I don't think I am brave enough to have an early scan this time around. I absolutely hate scans now, despite having several when I had my DD which were all fine. I generally ovulate late so although my LMP date is 31 October, I am expecting that to be put back and I also have a tilted uterus making it difficult to see much early on, which would be especially worrying if I am out by several days. I honestly think I would just prefer to keep my head in the sand and assume everything is ok but then again, like you, I would want to be able to try again as quickly as I found out things weren't right. I really don't know - expect lots of indecisive comments from me over the next few weeks as I keep changing my mind.

LisaTheGreek · 03/03/2016 13:59

I am wavering massively on an early scan. Currently 9+1 and my NHS scan isn't until 13 weeks, so it feels like a long time away.

At first I was sure I would get an early scan and found a few places locally. Figured I would wait until 8-weeks ish and then do it.

But now I really don't know. I agree with other people above and not feeling brave enough to do it. What if it confirms my worst suspicions? I thought I would want to know straight away if there wasn't a heartbeat, so avoid extra upset at 13 weeks, but now I'm not so sure. Now I think I'm too scared to get the wrong result.

Fraggleface · 03/03/2016 14:47

Lisa, I was shaking when I went for my scan yesterday. Thankfully all was well but I'd definitely have rather known if it wasn't, sooner rather than later Smile

MrsMermaid · 03/03/2016 15:54

Had an NHS scan today as we were a little unsure of dates... Measuring up 10 weeks and 3 days and all looking good! Please could I be added to the Google doc?

MrsMermaid #1 EDD 26th September

So happy to see all is well! After feeling so sick for the past few weeks it has really pepped me up SmileI also can't believe it looks like a BABY. We have decided to call it 'the babe with the power' for now. Congrats to others having early scans too! Wishing you all happy sticky thoughts xx

Awww lovely Mrs Mermaid!

FuzzyOwl · 03/03/2016 16:19

Great news MrsMermaid.

Tacoyaki · 03/03/2016 16:58

Gorgeous scan MrsMermaid - has really put a smile on my face - congratulations!

MrsMermaid · 03/03/2016 17:06

Thank you northern, fuzzy and tacoyaki!

pinkbuttons · 03/03/2016 18:29

Thank you for adding me to the list banana and for the lovely welcome posts yesterday all. I can see I'm going to struggle to keep up with you all on this busy thread!
Congratulations on those with positive scan results today. Amazing picture mermaid! It's amazing how different your scan looks compared to mine in just a weeks difference. Mine looked like a wobbly jelly bean and yours is a real baby! :)

Definitely glad we opted for an early scan here. We were told yesterday if you see a heartbeat after 8 weeks the chance of miscarriage is less than 2% and after 10 weeks less than 1%.
Figures aren't everything but it's certainly helped ease my worries going forward. Also meant I felt better telling work and our childminder which I've had to do early due to my sickness.
Sorry to all those struggling with symptoms and to those worrying about the lack of! We can't win can we.
Signed off work for another week here, I am so bored of being sick!

pinkbuttons · 03/03/2016 18:32

Also meant to say eek to fireman. Number 3 sounds terrifying, here's hoping for a very chilled out baby that just slots right in to our families yes? (Serious wishful thinking)

SimileMilly · 03/03/2016 18:39

Great news on the positive scans today. I'm counting down the days until my next one (a week on Monday).

Has anyone else got full on hormonal rage? I'm usually a bit arsey around PMT time but today I've really struggled to contain it. Took DD out for the day as I have the day off work and ended up snapping at her the whole time Blush and then got off the train to find a parking ticket slapped on my car - entirely my fault for parking in a stupid space but I completely lost it with DP when he felt the need to point this out. Angry I'm now sulking in my bedroom

Afreshstartplease · 03/03/2016 18:55

Last week I had bad rage

Now I'm too tired

Backache continues , thanks to those who offered advice RE massage etc

7 + 5 today

To those expecting DC3. My third did slot in perfectly and I am told number 4 will too so fingers crossed

Looking forward to the placenta hopefully taking away my sickness asap!

LisaTheGreek · 03/03/2016 19:30

Thanks Fraggle, it's nice to hear from other people on this.

In the end I confided in DH about my wavering and worries and he decided to take the bull by the horns and book a scan tomorrow evening. Eek! Mixture of nervous and excited...

Congrats Mermaid, that's a beautiful scan! Thanks

FuzzyOwl · 03/03/2016 19:33

I am not sure whether I have a sinus infection now or need a filling. I have had a cold for the last two weeks that is showing no signs of easing and now if feels like the root in a top tooth hurts. I've never had this before but when I blow my nose or sneeze I can actually feel the pain tracing a line down to this tooth, but that could be the same if I needed a filling I suppose. The only other time I have ever had toothache was last pregnancy and that lasted a couple of days and was over, but this has been like it for a while. Any suggestions?

Hope the scan goes well tomorrow Lisa

Reassuring stats pink.

Bluecarrot · 03/03/2016 19:56

Had our early scan today and confirmed one little living baby. :)
Literally just a blob on screen but I think we will book another scan for later in pregnancy. Room was huge and had sofas etc so you can bring 5 people with you. It's projected onto a huge TV screen so really clear.

Felt giddy ever since!

Figgygal · 03/03/2016 20:08

Wow mermaid that is a proper BABY looking baby!! Lovely.

Dh have had a massive row about my work as I have a role that requires some travelling I've been asked to go somewhere outside of immediate region Monday to help out in genuinely difficult circumstances and he's gone ballistic like they're sending me to Alaska for a month. It'll be 5 hours driving or even longer on trains and driving to stations taxis other end so it's a massive ball ache I don't want to go but felt I couldn't say no. The ensuing argument has been more bloody stressful and unpleasant than the actual day will be. Grrr sorry just needed to vent

pod100 · 03/03/2016 21:08

Ah that's a fantastic scan MrsMermaid! Congrats!

A few days ago I felt completely against an early scan but today, reading some of these comments, it's making me waver a bit. I'd hate to wait for 12 weeks, only to find things hadn't worked out a few weeks previous (this is exactly what happened to one of my best friends a few years ago). Not sure what to do...

I've only known I'm pregnant for 12 days and time seems to be dragging so much!

Bluecarrot · 03/03/2016 22:38

It def feels like it's dragging at this stage! But once you start getting the appointments and get a nice big round belly to rub absentmindedly, it flies by in no time at all... Til you are overdue. Then time slows again!

MyBreadIsEggy · 04/03/2016 07:10

Hi all....feel like I'm a bit late jumping on, but can I add myself to the list?!
I'm due 21st October with #2 Grin

Afreshstartplease · 04/03/2016 08:05

Welcome mybreadiseggy

How old is your DC1

Afreshstartplease · 04/03/2016 08:06

Damn posted to soon

I don't feel sick!

Feel like celebrating this!

Slept from 9-6 with only two toilet trips

Feel fresh as a daisy

MyBreadIsEggy · 04/03/2016 08:10

Fresh I already have a 10mo DD Smile

Afreshstartplease · 04/03/2016 08:18

Small gap then!

My elder two are 16 months apart and it's been lovely for them always having someone to play with although they can also fight like cat and dog
