Fresh start I'm not the best person to advise on how much back pain is normal as I have a spinal injury from having smashed my back up, BUT as a result I've had lots of medical advice about what pain meds are safe in the first trimester. Which is to say, not much. Paracetamol only. Absolutely definitely do not take ibuprofen as it can impact on fetal heart development. X

I have had sharp back pain every evening for about two weeks now. Sometimes first thing in the morning too. It isn't constant - just when I stand up or sit down. It takes my breath away sometimes as it's so sudden and sharp. I hope it goes away!

I'm a nervous swimmer too. I don't mind the pool but my fitness is awful so it's really hard. I tried snorkeling on holiday over Christmas and I was so scared - it's just so deep! I'm going to ring about arranging private lessons and DH will come with me at the weekends too - he's a pretty good swimmer and can give me some pointers.

I'm feeling a bit fed up tonight. We've been saving for months to do up the house and now baby is on its way I'm really motivated to get started but the tradesmen we've contacted don't seem to want the work. One came around, promised a quote the same day, and we've not heard from him since! Feeling frustrated as I just want a nice house!

Back pain has been getting worse since yesterday, I always have some aches and have since had my first DC but this is much more

It worsens when I stay in same position so sat in the car for half hour is agony or at my desk at work

At its worst it's as though the pain radiates up my spine and into my shoulders. It was making me feel sick in the car.

Think I'll mention it at midwife app next week

Does anyone else not feel pregnant at all ?? In the first few weeks I had the bloat, gas, tiredness and sore boobs but fir the last week absolutely nothing not a single symptom ....... Weird right ??

I have a stomach bug (the whole house does, so it is definitely that) Smwarb but no symptoms at all. Worried really.

I haven't got many symptoms - barely any nausea, anyway. My boobs have grown a lot and I have acne all over my chest and back, which is really unusual for me and getting me down. Is acne a pregnancy symptom?!

Follow up scan today and measuring 8 weeks so pleased with that. Only 1 baby, which is good as last weeks scan they were thinking there were 2, having said that I've got to go back for a consultant scan tomorrow though for a second opinion on the "matter" that's in there which led them to think there were 2, potentially cysts. Never simple this pregnancy malarkey!

Morning everyone... Had virtually no symptoms for 2 weeks and then suddenly, the nausea has hid hard.
I have been feeling really bad the last 2 days. Really sick, but haven't actually been sick yet.
I hope this is at least a good sign.

fresh It sounds like you need a good deep massage, it could be originating from your shoulders and radiating down your back. If so, you need to wait until after the first trimester as most therapists won't do it before.

I had sciatica in my left leg with first baby, I had it from about 10 weeks to 30 weeks!! What really helped was getting on all fours and kinda jiggling about I think it helped move or dislodge something!!
I was offered acupuncture at the hospital, but never took them up on the offer,

Fresh you could maybe start to do some yoga moves to strengthen, as the pressure may get worse

I found my symptoms more or less disappeared by middle of week 8- occasional nausea, but really compared to before - nothing. My boobs were a bit tender still but was more towards end of the day.

I'm 9 weeks 4 days and the only real symptom I have is backache and cramping as my uterus is growing - I had some bleeding at start of the week so again was scanned by EPU, but everything looks fine baby wise, just me being a pain in the butt.

I've noticed my boobs are a bit more tender this week, hormones a little more wild and I've had more headaches, but that's quite literally it

Also, if you're around the same time (8-9 weeks) the placenta does tend to take some of the load off, even if it's not fully formed - which contributes to some symptoms becoming less obvious

Anyone have any idea how to manage the fatigue? I've had a dreadful couple of nights with DS - I've probably had about 3/4 hours sleep over the past two nights, and I'm so tired I can't focus in work. Other than going home and having a nap, what I can do?!

Had my early scan this morning. All looks good. Saw and heard the heartbeat. Baby measuring 8+3, which is pretty much bang on dates (8+2). As it's our first we're a bit gobsmacked, to be honest. It took us so long to conceive I think this is the first point at which I actually believe it might all be okay. :-)

Oh and for those wavering, it was worth every penny of the £60.

Congrats on your scan Juliette - I reckon I may have to book one in for next week, its just hard to believe its real at the mo, despite all the symptoms.

I have a bit of a worry today, wonder if anyone can reassure? I have definitely noticed more prominent veins on my breasts in general, but since yesterday there have been two small red patches, close together, with lots of tiny red veins? Is this normal? Never had anything like it before. 7 + 3 today.

If this one sticks and goes the distance, as EDD is 3 weeks before my 35th birthday, I will JUST escape the dreaded 'elderly primagravida' on my notes!

Still, better than the term they used to use of 'geriatric mother'!

8+3 today and 10 week scan seems soooo far away. Debating whether to book on between now and then. I'd rather know about MMC sooner rather than later, both for emotional reasons (obviously) and because as horrible as a medically managed miscarriage is, although mentally I'd prefer an ERPC to get it over and done with (and have the tissue testing done), I have such crap endometrial lining as it is, the risk of Asherman's syndrome (adhesions) from a D&C would be particularly problematic

I should probably not be thinking how I would deal with a miscarriage we don't yet know has or will happen!

Thanks for adding me banana and I am of the exact same view regarding a mmc. My first pregnancy ended in one and I would have happily avoided the 12 week scan altogether the second time around on the basis that if I didn't know I had miscarried, everything would be fine. Is that makes sense? Have you had any scans yet?

Not heard of it golden but it seems that everything and nothing at all are all typical symptoms of pregnancy.
