wetsnow with you on the dodgy veins. I'm sporting a pair of beautiful bruises on my hands after all attempts at getting my arms failed on Friday. When I lived in France I had blood taken from my foot after they gave up on everywhere else!

queenoftheworld93 · 23/02/2016 18:27

Just typed up massive rant about weird group midwife appointment but it deleted and I'm too tired and hormonal to type it up again :(

Planeteer · 23/02/2016 18:31

Just catching up. Fuzzy if you're reading this I'm so sorry. Sending you lots of love.

Tall and tako I definitely have the sneezing thing too. Really sharp one-sided pain that makes me wince. Something else to add to the ever expanding list of weird-ass pregnancy symptoms!

missy glad to hear tiny shrimp is all well and happy in there, and so pleased your DH was there too.

Bit of a weird day for me today as woke up with some bleeding. Had a drs appt anyway, where she sent me to the EPU for a scan just in case, as bleeding plus unknown dates (thanks, crazy cycles) made her a little twitchy. Scan puts me at just under 6 weeks, but they found a heartbeat flickering away really strongly, and everything's where it should be. I'm still spotting, but am feeling sooooo much better now, and will try to relax and wait for my booking in appointment to come through. Phew!

Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Hopelass · 23/02/2016 18:58

Ah missy that sounds like a lovely scan! Congrats on your snug little bean. I'm feeling a little less negative now after yours and disney's reassurances Smile I think I just needed to find a grip Blush

Afreshstartplease · 23/02/2016 19:29

Had quite a few sharp twinges today although most have been while bursting for a wee so I think likely related to that!

wondermoose · 23/02/2016 19:51

Msfiremansam I know I want an early scan too, I thought I was the only one not having one 😄

I've been utterly exhausted today, ds just was acted his daddy (charming!) And when dh decided to treat me to a big Mac they gave us some weird special order one with no sauce or cheese which has really upset me because I've been dairy/egg free for ages with ds 😂

queenoftheworld93 · 23/02/2016 19:55

Just read back through the thread. Sorry to hear your sad news Fuzzy

I thought I was the only one not having an early scan too! Though this thread has me seriously considering it... They are £99 here... It seems worth it for the reassurance factor but then I remember it would be transvaginal and suddenly go off the idea a bit! Blush

Figgygal · 23/02/2016 19:59

Queen I had a useless group appointment too so I can imagine the content of your ranty thread.

At what point are they not vaginal scans anyone know?

MsFiremanSam · 23/02/2016 20:02

I almost booked one but I think it would only reassure me for about a day, then I'd be back on knicker watch, £100 worse off!
I can't wait to be able to tell people. My belly already looks 4 months pregnant and my work trousers are tight 😭

Peppaspants · 23/02/2016 20:05

figgy I had mine at 7 weeks 2 days and it wasn't vaginal-just a normal scan.

Afreshstartplease · 23/02/2016 20:12

I think abdominal after six weeks

Been thinking about the birth, my last was only five hours from the very first twinge

First two took days

What if this one doesn't make it to the hospital

TaffetaMuttonfudge · 23/02/2016 20:14

I just booked an 8 week scan for a week Sunday. Feels silly as I also have an early scan at the hospital at 9.5 weeks and my 12 week scan booked, but i had a miscarriage in September and I'm so scared it will happen again. Luckily the scan is only £45 and just down the road. Am I being ridiculous?

Also, can someone please add me to the list? I can't seem to change it and I've dropped off again. This is #2 and I'm due 14th October. Smile

SchnitzelvonKrummsverylowtum · 23/02/2016 20:19

Had a disastrous evening - DH is working late so I took DS to my parents for tea. Struggled through the door carrying DS and everything else, for DS to promptly throw up all over him, me and the kitchen floor. I cleaned us both up, got him to sleep, and now have to go deal with the sicky clothes and clean the kitchen floor. It's not helping the nausea at all! Why am I having another one again?!

JulietteL · 23/02/2016 20:33

schnitzel :-( ConfusedBrew

Reluctantnympho · 23/02/2016 21:18

Catching up here. So sad to hear fuzzy's news Sad
Sickness has kicked in here, and extreme thirst, but if I glug too quickly I throw up Sad
Work trousers were so tight today I had to undo them, Dh can not believe how quickly I'm showing! Don't want to tell him it's just gas Grin

Northernlight22 · 23/02/2016 22:19

So sorry fuzzy Flowers

Well mixed news from today's early scan! Good news is we saw a heartbeat which is awesome, other news is that there was another sac which appears to be empty so I need to go back again to EPAU next week for a follow up to see if there is any further development - not looking hopeful on the twin though.

Reluctantnympho · 23/02/2016 22:47

Oh northen I'm sorry to hear that Sad I imagine you are feeling a whole mix of emotions right now ((hugs))

Tomkat79 · 23/02/2016 23:03

Seems to vary a little with trans vaginal scans and when they switch to abdominal. In early weeks you will def get a much better view tv and it's really not that bad. TA seems to be better from around 8 weeks. But if you happen to have a bit of a chunky middle view may be restricted a little!
To all of you lovely ladies wondering whether to pay for extra scans I'd say no, save your money. It's sooo expensive. Yes it's re-assuring for 30 seconds....then you're back to worrying. I'm not meaning to come accross as negative here, I just think they are so much money and only provide re-assurance for such a short time. These first weeks are so daunting. Hang on in there x

Gigglebert · 24/02/2016 05:07

MsFireman I'm not having a scan either (though I'm desperate to!), trying to just live in the moment 'today I am pregnant'.. I think the reassurance of a scan would only last for an hour and every penny helps with my aim to take a full year of mat leave this time around!!

Afreshstartplease · 24/02/2016 06:08

I have felt nauseous since what I think was implantation! Over a week before my bfp!

leoniethelioness · 24/02/2016 07:33

Giggle I'm 9 weeks today and also feeling like the only one not to have had an early scan! Like you, I don't think it would reassure me for long. Only just over three weeks to go...

Figgygal · 24/02/2016 07:34

I'm also aiming for a year off from ds starting school in September to him going into yr1 in September 17 only took 6 months last time so will be a shock to system especially if we move house too.

I'm only doing a scan if I can't get my nhs scan at 12 weeks

leoniethelioness · 24/02/2016 07:36

I am really worried about getting to the scan and finding a MMC though. Just want it all to be OK! At leas we are going first thing on a Friday and I have the rest of the day off.

SchnitzelvonKrummsverylowtum · 24/02/2016 08:06

Leonie I'm worried about the same thing. I haven't heard back from the midwife yet, and my scan will probably be around 7 weeks away (at 12 weeks). It's going to be a long 7 weeks!

missybct · 24/02/2016 08:36

We had a scan purely because I've had pre-existing issues combine with increasing anxiety - it's definitely not for everybody, but this is my first and I felt it would ease some of the fears.

I had mine transvaginally, I have a bit of chunk - sonographer could see abdominally but as this was a reassurance scan she was quite keen to show me all she could, hence the transvaginal scan. Queen - what are your concerns with transvaginal scan? Pain or discomfort? They honestly aren't that bad - if you've survived smear tests, I think internal scans are a piece of cake!
