I'm also 13 weeks full pay then SMP I'm hoping with holidays I can finish mid September and stay off when ds goes back to school for yr1 in September 17 then we can save on childcare for his first year of school.

I was desperate for a girl first time round never wanted a boy now I'd love another boy. We've got a girls name though I don't think they have a gender yet this early on do they? I just want it to be healthy bit worried at 35 higher chance of downs.

Stood up way too fast a few times yesterday had searing pains in tummy. Lack of symptoms getting to me though I do have horrid taste in mouth all the time and constantly sore boobs so not like nothing's happening

Gigglebert · 21/02/2016 15:12

Figgy with you on the awful taste! It's horrid but mints/gum make me feel icky!

MrsExcited · 21/02/2016 15:17

Random post from someone who was in the Oct 2015 group.

Good luck to you all, I'm currently sat nursing my 4 and a bit monthold daughter who was born onthe 10th Oct.

Being a member of this thread initially and when we moved over to facebook that group has been awesome.

Good luck to you all.

SchnitzelvonKrummsverylowtum · 21/02/2016 15:24

I thought they have a gender straight away? I might be wrong though.

I'm really lucky with mat leave - I get 6 months full pay, then 3 months SMP, then 3 months unpaid. I took 7 months with DS, but worked 2 days a week for two months by using accrued leave. I might do something similar this time.

MsFiremanSam · 21/02/2016 15:35

Thanks MrsExcited! Congratulations on your baby 💐

Your mat pay all sounds great compared to mine! 4 weeks full, 12 weeks half - I'm a teacher.

bananafish81 · 21/02/2016 15:36

What do you mean do they have a gender yet? They are male or female from the moment of fertilisation. Genetic testing of embryos can ascertain the sex before the embryo is transferred into the uterus - in the UK sex selection is illegal for family balancing, although can be done to avoid passing on genetic diseases carried on the X or Y chromosome.

It's also possible to find out the sex of the embryo from the fetal DNA from non invasive prenatal tests like Harmony, as early as 10 weeks

Will read properly later but just wanted to check in and say we have a heartbeat and due on 2nd October!

October 2016 bus #2 - getting our bfp's
Peppaspants · 21/02/2016 16:02

Good news from me too-all good with the early scan, measuring fine, saw the heartbeat, in the right place and EDD of 8th of Oct.

Blueskygirl30 · 21/02/2016 16:14

Congratulations on all the scans today! Very good news!

I'm pretty sure my company only give statutory pay, which I think is 6 weeks at 90% pay, it seems everyone else is on a much better deal than me!

LillianFullStop · 21/02/2016 16:24

Thanks mrsexcited! We're here for the long haul and hopefully will be where you are now :)

Congrats on the happy scans - sac and yolks and the ones with happy heartbeats :) I'm only 6+2 based on LMP I suspect I will date 5+5 due to longer cycles so will hold off viability scan until 8 weeks.

Symptoms seem to be ramping up so good sign - boobs are soooo sore, crazy bloating and that off putting metallic taste

Ladycrazycat · 21/02/2016 17:05

congratulations Milly I can't wait until our scan on Friday!

My maternity pay is 6 weeks full pay, 6 weeks half pay then the rest SMP. It's really quite frightening!

JulietteT · 21/02/2016 17:27

Yay for all the positive scans.

I spent the day ripping the carpet etc from our stairs and sanding them.

Bit knackered now! :-)

LillianFullStop · 21/02/2016 17:36

No maternity leave for me and I only have work until the end of June - would be good to work up until at least mid-Sep depending on how I'm coping with my new status as a house. I work in a very male dominated industry so working to late pregnancy might be a bit awkward. I'd like to take a full 12 months off but with not having any maternity pay at all I may have to start work after 9 months. Probably too soon to be thinking of childcare vs nanny at 6+2 right?

Allhallowseve · 21/02/2016 17:57

Hi everyone struggling to keep up with this thread it moves so fast. Nausea in full swing here easing up only for about 15 mins after it eaten then it's back again even throughout the night! Ds not sleeping great and I'm really really tired struggling a bit at the minute and feeling quite guilty. Waiting for a phone call from the midwife for a date for booking in appointment . Just can't wait for 12 weeks to come scan and hopefully feeling better!

Grumpelstiltskin · 21/02/2016 18:05

Lovely to hear about (and see!) the results of the early scans coming in. Congrats to all.

I've got another scan booked in for 9 weeks (again one of the 'benefits' of IVF) and am feeling much calmer generally as well after my early one on Wed. Let's just see how long that lasts!

Interesting to hear about how varied mat pay is. I'm exceptionally lucky in my job as I get 25 weeks full pay and then 13 weeks SMP. I have friends in the US though who are also pregnant at the mo and the situation there is no fun at all. It's crazy how lacking any sort of maternal provision is there comparatively to almost anywhere else.

We've been looking after the toddler nephews this weekend and then for some mad reason I went to the gym this afternoon (first time in about three weeks), so am pretty tired now and ready for an early night!

leoniethelioness · 21/02/2016 18:18

No maternity pay at all, Lillian? Are you outside the UK?

Congratulations on all of the happy scans!

lotbyname · 21/02/2016 18:30

Lovely scan news!

I've been reading the work maternity policy and still have no clue. Should really email hr but I've got the superstition heebeejees about it. I'll have to get over that though as I think we're going to struggle financially. Confused

I discovered at my booking in appointment that my self employed dp can claim 2 weeks pay from hmrc. Super happy!

lotbyname · 21/02/2016 18:36

I also tesco delivery order today. Went NUTS on the ginger things. I've decided to regard it as useful scientific experiment... Great hopes for the ginger oatcakes, ginger floor wash, ginger bubble bath and thr ginger ice-cream....Grin

Hopelass · 21/02/2016 18:40

Afreshstart we're in the north west a town north of Manchester. Also re the apps there is one called Nurture which I think does diet tracking etc when it is connected to the my fitness pal app if you have that Smile

MsFiremanSam · 21/02/2016 18:49

Lotbyname I mainlined ginger in my last pregnancy to the point where the mere thought of it makes me feel sick, so it's not going to help me this time!
Lovely to see the scan pics and hear happy news. Congrats ladies! 💐

wondermoose · 21/02/2016 19:28

So happy for everyone's happy scan news :)

Afreshstartplease · 21/02/2016 19:51

Hopelass what's the £40 scan place called? I'm not far from Manchester

SimileMilly · 21/02/2016 20:09

Early scan was definitely worth every penny, although I'll no doubt be back to neurotic knicker checking again tomorrow!

My maternity policy is 7wks full pay, 20wks half pay and 12wks stat pay. At the moment though it's looking like I'm going to have to pay to keep my company car whilst on mat leave and as I earn a lot more than DP I will probably have to go back to work after 6/7 months and capitalise on annual leave for a while. Trying not to stress about how financially ruined we are going to be for the next year and hopeful we won't have to pay out ££££s for childcare when I go back to work like I did with DD!

wondermoose · 21/02/2016 20:46

I can't decide if I want an early scan or not, I feel incredibly pessimistic about this pregnancy, even more since all my symptoms have disappeared this weekend, I just feel like it's going to be bad news, and I know it would be better to know rather than get my hopes up, but for now I just want to hide under a blanket! :(

SchnitzelvonKrummsverylowtum · 21/02/2016 21:09

Lovely scan news!

I'd like an early scan but the cheapest I can find where I am is £75, and I don't think DH will go for it.

I've been feeling sick on and off all day, but I'm terrified that this is all going to go wrong somehow. The 12 week scan can't come quick enough, and I've got the best part of 2 months to go!
