Good luck to ladies with scans today xx

Reluctantnympho · 21/02/2016 10:13

Hi everyone. I had my scan at the epau. Too early for. Heartbeat but they saw a sack and a yoke so they were pleased everything is progressing. The pain I've been having is due to a 4 cm cyst on my right ovary. They said its nothing to worry about and I have to go back in two weeks for a progress check. Still having a bit of brown spotting but I'm trying not to worry.
Horrendous nausea has hit today, I'm going in between feeling really happy because it's a good sign and feeling sorry for my self because it's horrific! Like a hangover from hell Sad

Afreshstartplease · 21/02/2016 10:14

Glad you got good news reluctant!

LillianFullStop · 21/02/2016 10:16

How far along are you reluctant? I'd like a reassurance scan myself so I might book one in at 9 weeks

Reluctantnympho · 21/02/2016 10:37

Approx 5+5 when I had the scan. Should have been 6+2 by lmp but I ovulated late. Keeping everything crossed for a heartbeat next time

Blueskygirl30 · 21/02/2016 10:39

Reluctant that's great news that the scan went well. I had a cyst like that with my first pregnancy, it turned out to be ectopic but the cyst was apparently a normal thing and just where the egg was released from as it becomes the corpus luteum and secretes the hormones to keep the pregnancy going until the placenta takes over. I went back for a scan a few weeks after the pregnancy ended and the cyst had gone away.

summeraupair · 21/02/2016 10:43

Tentatively good news here too! Saw a sac and a yolk but no heartbeat yet, it seems like I ovulated a little later than I thought I did. Back in two weeks to check it's developing! The nurse seems to think my bleeding might have just been caused by the enormous cervical ectropion that has proudly taken up residence...

I was quite surprised they didn't take blood again today, though I did flinch a bit when I saw Nelly, the nurse who butchered the veins in my hands on Friday!

Blueskygirl30 · 21/02/2016 10:48

Fab news Summer!

bananafish81 · 21/02/2016 10:53

Great news ladies!! Summer that is very early so wouldn't be likely to see a heartbeat at that stage - hopefully you'll see and hear it in a couple of weeks time.

My clinic book everyone in for their viability scan no earlier than 7 weeks for that reason - obv it's easier when you've had IVF to be precise about the dates as you know exactly when they took the eggs out!! Grin

Afreshstartplease · 21/02/2016 11:03

Yay for everyone with good scan results!

Probably another six weeks til I get a scan. I know I'm lucky that they have no reason to scan me early but doesn't stop me wanting one!

Nearest private place to me is 80 quid, I can't even justify that myself never mind dp

Reluctantnympho · 21/02/2016 11:06

Fab news summer we can keep each other company in the long two weeks ahead

Hopelass · 21/02/2016 11:07

Aw lovely news for those with early scans! ThanksI'm only 4+5 but hope to book a scan around 8 weeks like I did with ds. They're only 40 quid here so doesn't feel too expensive when I'll get so much reassurance from it, all being well.
Hope those with sickness aren't suffering too much. I've not really had many symptoms just tiredness and slight stretchy cramps that I remember from last time.

Afreshstartplease · 21/02/2016 11:08

I wonder if anyone on the thread will have multiples!

Does anyone have any strong inclines as to what gender they may be carrying?

Afreshstartplease · 21/02/2016 11:09

£40 is good hopelass! Where abouts are you ?

summeraupair · 21/02/2016 11:13

reluctantnympho -fistbump- Grin

afreshstart On my husband's side, my mother in law is the only girl in over 100 years, so money round here is on a boy!

Georgina4 · 21/02/2016 11:30

That's great news summer and reluctant!

Good luck for yours later Millie.

What pregnancy apps are people using?

I'd like one that monitors what you eat and what you need for baby

Anyone know of one like this?

fuzzywuzzy · 21/02/2016 12:07

I've got the ovia app also the pregnancy + app but it's only free up to the first trimester. I like the pregnancy + app as it shows scans and development of embryo for the week your pregnancy is in.

Dp wants a boy as he is the only boy in his family heh as five sisters! I've got two girls and always wanted three, but As dp really wants a boy I'd love a boy too. No idea what I'm having, feels so surreal as it is, still finding it hard to believe I'm pregnant.

Reluctantnympho · 21/02/2016 12:26

I have the pregnancy + app and what to expect when expecting. I downloaded a few but deleted a lot of them.

Alwaysinahurrynow · 21/02/2016 13:17

afreshstartplease do you mean one that monitors what you need to eat for baby or stuff that you need for baby like cot etc?

If it's the former, I would say as long as you eat a balanced diet (and don't have any additional needs), then you should be fine. If like me, pregnancy makes you want to eat white bread, haribo and chocolate 😁then I try and balance it out with lots of veg and some prenatal vitamins.

wondermoose · 21/02/2016 13:52

I'm very worried about twins, I have twin aunts, and no twins in my generation, (dh also has 2x twin uncles! But I know it doesn't track through the men)
We're also 99% certain it will be a boy, the only women in dh's family have married in! All babies have been boys

Anyone on dc 2+ feel like everything is about to fall out?sorry if it's tmi Blush
I haven't felt sick for a few days, but today everything feels heavy and weird!

Afreshstartplease · 21/02/2016 14:20

Fall out?

I did mean something to monitor diet yes. I might try a normal healthy eating app and see if any take pregnancy into account

leoniethelioness · 21/02/2016 14:31

I haven't caught up with this thread properly yet but just checking in!

Hope you are all well! Flowers

We're making a real push to get all the little jobs sorted at home at the moment so we are set to buy new things for the baby. Need to find a plumber, carpenter and electrician... Shock

I've calculated my due date as either 28 September (different results from different calculators for some reason), but the midwife calculated it as 29 September. (Someone has put me down as 29th in the master list and I've not corrected it on that basis!) Going by my dates, I'm 8 weeks 4 days today and all booked in. :)

Only 26 days until my dating scan (not that I'm counting) and I can't wait. Grin We still haven't told a soul so the booking in appointment was really weird - strange to be talking about it with the midwife and student midwife! They were both really nice although the lady I met won't be my usual midwife, who was on leave.

I really just want to know everything is progressing as it should be now and that there's only one foetus! We're hoping there's only one as I'm not sure how we'd manage financially with childcare if there were two! We're looking at £235 per week for childcare for one - which works out a lot higher than our mortgage! Shock Sad Shock

I'm planning to go back to work full-time or possibly 90% - I'd like to work nine out of every ten days as DH's shift patterns mean he has every other Friday; if I had alternate Fridays we could get away with childcare for only 4 days a week. I think I'm going to have to go back to work after about 6 or 7 months, as I don't think we'd manage on SMP for much longer. Hmm

What's your maternity pay like? I get 100% of gross pay for 13 weeks (due to my length of service - you need 3+ years to qualify for this) then 26 weeks of SMP plus a return to work bonus of an additional month's pay split over the following three months.

I'm hoping DH can use shared parental leave to take a month off when I go back to work so we don't have to put the baby into nursery until he or she is about 8 months (but this still seems really young to me). It'll be alright, won't it?

DH and I made a tentative list of names we like last night, which is the only thing I'm letting myself get carried away and do. Have you started thinking about names yet?

wondermoose · 21/02/2016 14:47

13 weeks of full pay is great! I get 8 weeks full pay, 12 weeks half pay then smp, nhs pay doesn't improve with length of service

Gigglebert · 21/02/2016 14:49

Leonie my mat pay is similar to yours... 13 weeks full pay and then 26 weeks on smp before it drops to nothing and I accrue holidays which I have to take as pay before I return, last time I worked the last day before the summer holiday, got paid for the whole month of June as my accrued leave and then also got my summer holiday pay and returned to work properly in mid August when our wee one was 9 months...

I really want to take the full year with leave at the end this time as it will be our last child(and we have a wedding to go to in Chicago next October but won't get time off work for it) but not sure if we can afford the 13 weeks unpaid so desperately trying to get finances in order now!
