Snap on the cm and dampness lillian it's not helpful is it!

Good luck for the scans ladies! :)

Tacoyaki · 20/02/2016 21:50

MrsFiremanSam I've also had cramping most days - exactly like bad menstrual cramps. Like banana's, my doctor also said not to worry and that it was normal but to go to EPU if there was any bleeding. Also scoured some old mumsnet posts that say the same. Still worrying though, but it seems if it comes and goes, and doesn't get worse, then it shouldn't be a bad sign.

Spent the day packing up the flat in preparation for a move to Edinburgh. Would love to hear from anybody in Edinburgh on recommendations for hospitals as I have no idea...

Gigglebert · 21/02/2016 05:13

tacoyaki I'm just outside Edinburgh.. I had my first at St Johns in Livingston as its far faster for me to get there than to the ERI (Edinburgh royal infirmary). The ERI has a midwife led birthing centre and is also where all high risk pregnancies are sent (from pretty far away ) because of the high risk thing they often get full. We were always going to St Johns but the night I delivered my daughter the ERI and st johns were both full and they were diverting people to the borders/kirkcaldy/larbert! October is apparently their busiest month!

It's all very midwife led here, your new GP surgery will give you a number for the central booking team and they handle all of your appointments.

Let me know if you want anymore information :)

Alwaysinahurrynow · 21/02/2016 06:26

tacoyaki Edinburgh here too. I've had two EMCS by choice (I.e. Started labour and then chose a section, so not a rush to theatre) at the ERI. Both great experiences and much easier for us. I have heard great things about St John's too. Late September/October is busy everywhere, I have not met anyone who was diverted, although have heard the stories. I would choose whichever is closer but suss out a route to the other. Edinburgh is brilliant for young children. I moved here whilst I was pregnant with DS1 and love it.

Blueskygirl30 · 21/02/2016 06:42

Good morning. I just wanted to wish lots of luck to those who are having scans today. I hope everything goes well.

Afreshstartplease · 21/02/2016 06:51

Good luck to those with scans today

I am up early with dd and feeling pretty sick today

summeraupair · 21/02/2016 06:56

Scan in an hour and a half - since when has this kind of stuff been done at half eight on Sunday mornings anyway?! No bleeding since yesterday and I felt sick enough to actually retch just now - clutching at straws maybe but I feel a tiny bit positive! Even though I think I'll still be too early to see much on the scan, even if it is still there. Gaah.

Chugging water like it's going out of fashion in preparation for the blood tests - my veins are so dodgy even without dehydration, I had an elderly nurse stab me in four different locations on Friday because she couldn't get them to stop collapsing! My left hand is now pretty much one big stunningly swollen bruise. LOVELY.

Sending all my best thoughts out to the others with scans and things today, thinking positive!

Afreshstartplease · 21/02/2016 07:02

Good luck summer

How many weeks do you think you are?

summeraupair · 21/02/2016 07:10

Thanks Smile I think I'm 5+6 but the way my cycles go I could be a few days either way.

Afreshstartplease · 21/02/2016 07:18

Well atleast with your early appointment you haven't got all day waiting about

Would this be your first DC ?

LillianFullStop · 21/02/2016 07:30

Goodluck with the scan summer

summeraupair · 21/02/2016 07:44

It will indeed be my first. It's been a trying couple of years waiting, to be honest at the moment I'm just trying to focus on the fact we can actually conceive, and if it has all gone wrong, we'll be able to do it again.

Afreshstartplease · 21/02/2016 07:49

Well fingers crossed all is well!

It amazes me how cruel the world can be with regards to fertility

wetsnow · 21/02/2016 07:49

Good luck with scans today.

My lay in day so I'm still in bed... lush

Dh accidently told my brother last night. He is a student doctor though and starts his obsetrics & gyne rotation on Monday.
He is also coming on holiday with us in august so at least if anything happens he'll know what to do.

Telling in laws today. Told them last time in a fathers day card... so this time using an early mothers day card.

Hope everyone has lovely Sundays. Xx

Tacoyaki · 21/02/2016 08:10

Sending you positive vibes for the scan Summer and everyone else having one today.

Thanks so much Alwaysinahurry and Gigglebert for the Edinburgh info - really useful.

PunkyPod · 21/02/2016 08:17

It's also my lay in day.

I'm still searching for symptoms. With the other 2 I had loads of burping and the bone aching exhaustion from about 7 weeks. So seeing as I'm only 4+6 I think I should chill out a bit. It's hard though as this is prime mc time for me. Just want to keep this little monkey and meet it in October!

I went abroad when 6 months pregnant previously and the insurance company didn't bat an eyelid. This time I'll be 7 months so definitely have to be careful. However my previous births have been at 40+0 and 39+5 so very timely babies!

SchnitzelvonKrummsverylowtum · 21/02/2016 08:29

Good luck to those with scans today.

It would usually be my lie in day, but DS had other ideas and decided 5:00 was the time for getting up. Far too early for me!

wetsnow · 21/02/2016 08:34

punky I also had a due date baby last time. In expecting the same again!!! 😂

goldenpineapple · 21/02/2016 08:35

Good luck summer and everyone else with scans. Fx for you all.

I was getting worried that my boobs weren't sore anymore the other day - now they're agony again! Anyone else finding it hard to get comfortable at night? I'm only 5+6. Also my bras are definitely already too small, but not sure when to shop for new ones as who knows how much more they will grow?! I had a breast reduction 10 years ago so slightly nervous about this!

wetsnow lovely to tell the parents in a mothers day card - we were considering this but will be just under 8 weeks by then and not sure whether to wait till after 12 week scan.

Happy Sunday to all - hope you've all got lovely relaxing days ahead.

Afreshstartplease · 21/02/2016 08:35

None of mine have made it to or past due date but have all been born in the two weeks before

I imagine this one will be the same

I also imagine it'll be bigger as they've got bigger each time!

wetsnow · 21/02/2016 08:56

gold with family, I would tell them if anything went wrong anyway so I don't mind them knowing this early.
I'm 8 weeks on Tuesday.

goldenpineapple · 21/02/2016 09:01

I get that, I've told two really close friends on the same principle. I'm just not all that close to my family I guess. Although we're visiting my grandparents on the weekend of Mothers Day with my parents, and staying in a hotel where theres a jacuzzi/steam room - so this may well be a giveaway as IU'd usually be straight in there!

Hope your in-laws are delighted with the news today!

SimileMilly · 21/02/2016 09:30

Good luck to everyone else with scans today. Mines not until 330pm but I'm really nervous about it. DP suggested we do a grocery shop to waste some time Hmm

I'm just outside Edinburgh too but Fife side. Edinburgh is actually closer to us but I went to Kirkcaldy last time and had no complaints with the midwife led unit there.

wetsnow · 21/02/2016 09:32

Yes no steam room or jacuzzi... my spa day last week wasn't as fun.
I did dangle my legs into the jacuzzi though.

bananafish81 · 21/02/2016 09:40

Good luck to ladies with scans today xx
