Here's the next thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Pikz · 03/05/2016 20:31

Grouchy the reason is here apparently is that they can cause false contractions but it doesn't progress and is more e likely to need intervention...

I just wish they would give them at 40

ParsnipSoup · 03/05/2016 20:56

I decided to have an internet-free weekend and I've missed so much (again!!).

Congratulations Army and good luck Pearly!

Grouchy your nursery looks beautiful. Puts my room full of piles of baby stuff to shame. Can't bring myself to sort it out too much as we're looking for a new house so hopefully will have moved by 6 months.

I've had a bit of a meltdown today. Had a lovely relaxing weekend at MILs, managed to not go into labour at her house. Spent time in the sunshine all lovely. Then got home and decided to call the hospital as my growth scan was supposed to be in 5-7 days as static growth can mean the placenta isn't working properly (and today was day 5) and they can't fit me in until late on Friday which is 9 days. I know it is only 2 extra days but I've been really upset about it, not helped by my colleagues all pitching in and making "useful" comments about this being one of the reasons why the UK has a high stillbirth rate. I'll just have to be extra cautious about keeping an eye on movements and going in if I have any worries.

On the plus side it's my graduation for my MSc tomorrow. Either hoping I will invoke the law of sod and go into labour tonight but if not it should be a nice day.

Icecappedpinetrees · 03/05/2016 21:29

Hi parsnip, I hear what you're saying about static growth/placenta. I had my second scan (for comparing and charting growth) on Friday and all was fine with me, baby continues to be small but progressing.

Honestly, the worry I put myself through, I slept for 2 hours the night before the scan, was so anxious....over nothing. I was 14 days between scans Confused

I know I can't reassure you but the scan will be here soon, you'll get answers one way or another. Bollocks to stupid comments too, ignore them, I'm so sick of everyone talking about my body and how I'm carrying etc. If that woman at the supermarket tells me "tonight's the night...." once more. I've actually started driving 20 miles to another shop so as to avoid her and her comments on how low I am, how she can see I'm pregnant in my face....how rude!!

ODog · 03/05/2016 21:49

parsnip - sorry you have had so much worry I'm sure everything will be fine though. Fingers crossed you get through your graduation without any unplanned arrivals.

ice - something in the air today as my toddler miraculously went to sleep without the usual shenanigans. I have managed to get food shopping, washing, ironing, hoovering and mopping done today. All while simultaneously playing chase, nee-naws, drawing and helicopters with a not quite 2yo. And on only about 3hrs of broken sleep. I feel amazing! Hoping this is some sort of pre-labour nesting setting in!

On the topic of sweeps. They were nothing like labour which hurt significantly more . Both of mine with DS were unsuccessful as my cervix is a bit awkward to find and it wasn't 'ripe' but we're just uncomfortable rather than painful. Perhaps if the midwife had managed to get a finger in it might have been worse. I think I'm going to pass this week and think again if I've still not had the baby by the 41week appt.

Icecappedpinetrees · 04/05/2016 06:41

ODog - I felt all pleased that I'd exhausted him (having exhausted myself) and he was through at 11.30pm and into our bed like an octopus warthog beast, my word, how is a child smaller than a metre so very incredibly noisy?! At one point, at about 3am, my DH and I just looked across at each other in sheer disbelief.

Is it possible to dislodge your spine? Ok ok, I know that sounds silly but pgp has been pretty bad and as I rolled over last night I had an excruciating pain and something "popped" - it was really loud and it felt like something popping back into place and my hips and back felt slightly more fluid.

ParsnipSoup · 04/05/2016 08:54

Ice sorry that you've had a rubbish night's sleep. I can dislocate the facet joints in certain parts of my back and they go back in place with a wonderful clunk and then feel amazing... Maybe that's what you had?!

Trying to get myself organised for graduation... It's going to be a looooong day. Actual ceremony isn't until 5pm but going for lunch, need to pick up tickets and gowns and need to travel into the city.

GunShotResidue · 04/05/2016 09:08

Hope today goes well Parsnip :)

Ice I've managed to avoid too many stupid comments this time by avoiding people but when pregnant with DD, DH's aunt told me she could tell it was a girl as they take away their mother's beauty Hmm

29redshoes · 04/05/2016 11:07

parsnip I am Shock at the comments from your colleagues! Did they think they were being helpful?? Also gunshot that's a cracker from your aunt. People are so strange sometimes.

I've mostly been lucky on the weird comments front. The only thing I have had is people constantly commenting on the size of my bump. Including one time when I was told that I looked big for dates by one person, and small for dates by another...on the same day!

pikz I did watch In The Club last night! And will tune in to OBEM tonight as well. All in the name of research of course...

Sephipops · 04/05/2016 11:57

I had a colleague ask me why I was returning my work laptop, to which I replied I finished on Friday. He then asked why I was finishing and then seemed completely shocked that I was a) pregnant and b) due this year! I was 35+4 at the time...

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 04/05/2016 12:38

I'm also Shock at your colleagues comments parsnip - WTF?? Also the other rude things people to say to pregnant women, it never ceases to amaze me! If anyone dares say anything even slightly mean to me now I will just CRY on them, and that's a promise! I thought that I would be crying all the way through pregnancy but it didn't get me like that - until the past week, when I have cried every day about something or other! Spent ages on the phone to my mum this morning (v unusual as we normally just text...) and told her all my woes about DP which I sort of wish I hadn't in case she hates him now, but I had to get it off my chest. Not entirely sure if I feel better about it but after laying awake from 4am worrying incessantly I needed to talk to someone!

Well, the barrage of text messages has started in earnest over the past few days - some friends stick with "thinking of you!" whereas others are more up front ("IS IT HERE??") - i'm finding it quite nice at the moment to be on people's minds but ask me again in a few days and I might think differently!
Going to head out and try to enjoy some sunshine now...

Everythinggettingbigger · 04/05/2016 12:48

I cannot believe I am still here!! Serious niggles going on...I'm pretty convinced I had a proper contraction in the middle of all the back ache and pains last night but then nothing else happened! Really low down dull ache all morning today feeling like my period is about to start! Sweep on Monday for me at 38 weeks (not standard practise I have requested this and had it OK'D by a consultant) so hopefully if I haven't gone before that will push me over the edge! I had 3 with DS1, the first 2 did nothing the 3rd I went into labour half an hour later! I would say go for it, i just found them slightly uncomfortable more than anything.

Although I would rather not have a "may the 4th" baby!

Just waiting for breast feeding team to come and see me

ODog · 04/05/2016 12:58

Anyone experienced an energy surge pre-labour? Feel like I'm probably just wishful thinking but I've had more energy in the last couple of days than I have had in weeks.

frozensmoothie · 04/05/2016 13:22

Thanks for the info about sweeps everyone! Just heard that another 2 of my NCT group are also overdue and we're all booked for sweeps over the next week so I feel less alone now!

I've also had an energy surge over the past few days. I've been awake half the night as I didn't feel tired at all. Was hoping it might be an early labour sign but still no sign of anything happening!

Hope all goes well with your graduation parsnip

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 04/05/2016 14:50

I have heard this about the energy surge from so many people, so maybe you two are next in line Frozen & Odog!
I ventured out in the sunshine and just enjoyed an icecream in the park, feels better than being in the sofa!! I'm a bit Shock though at the way I have become a target now I'm so slow-moving - people keep trying to get me to sign up for things! And was in a shop just now and another customer came trying to give me fliers for his photography business for "bump shots" so I told him I was due any minute and he suggested Father's Day - F off and leave me in peace!! Maybe I'm a bit grumpier than normal even if my mood has improved with the weather Wink

GrouchyKiwi · 04/05/2016 15:08

Hope you're having a good day Parsnip.

I definitely do not have the energy surge. Can't remember it with either of the other two.

Went to the osteopath this morning. She's shocked by how tight my sacro-illiac joint is. She did some acupuncture as well, which always hurts a bit in the afternoon but feels great the next day or three. We've optimistically booked another appointment for 39 weeks.

Gas & air, and the home birth box arrived today. It's massive and full of scary looking things! MW is going to come again on Friday to check if there's been any change since her last visit.

StormTr00per · 04/05/2016 18:48

ice I quite often roll over and have a massive clunk in my pelvis / base of spine. It's usually quite satisfying, I put it down to my dodgy pelvis and spd/pgp problems.
Well no star wars baby here!! Although I thought I was maybe in early labour, had the most horrendous night of projectile vomiting and diarrhoea Sad and again today, so I really need to recover before baby appears as I feel awful!

ODog · 04/05/2016 20:24

storm that sounds from. Do you think it's a bug?

So at about 5.30pm I either wet myself or my waters have started to go. Had backache all afternoon and a few BH like tightenings this evening but no idea if any of it means anything. Not sure what to do really?

GrouchyKiwi · 04/05/2016 20:33

Hope you feel better, storm. Have you called your MW for advice?

ODog Sounds promising! I'd call your birthing unit.

29redshoes · 04/05/2016 21:00

odog my hospital says to phone when waters go. Sounds like things might be starting, exciting! Guess surge of energy is a sign then...

Hope you feel better soon storm

Lost mucus plug today. It was...pretty gross. Got excited then looked up old threads on here which said it can still be weeks until the start of labour! Grrrr.

Everythinggettingbigger · 04/05/2016 21:19

Storm I've not been up all night but had diahrroea in the last hour......I've washed my hair just in case Grin feel OK again now though.....I don't think i can handle suspense like this every night for another 2 and a half weeks!

ODog how exciting that sounds like the start of things! Would definitely give hospital a call and let them know they might want to check!

The amount of times I've read this thread today and then re read and missed all kinds! I think my phone must be playing up! Hope everyone is feeling good Wink

ODog · 04/05/2016 21:31

Yep it was over a week between losing my plug and having DS 29 .

I've not lost any more fluid and BHs seem to have levelled off. Still not sure if it was just a really big wee that escaped! Doesn't smell like wee but I drank a lot today so maybe just very diluted.Tempted to see how I go overnight as i have midwife in the morning anyway.

ODog · 04/05/2016 21:41

Just spoke to them and they are happy for me to wait and see the midwife in the morning. Pretty sure it's not the start of anything.

Pikz · 04/05/2016 22:03

Good luck Odog

So jealous of everything ramping up for people... Honestly you could all just wait your turn WinkGrin

ODog · 04/05/2016 22:13

pikz don't be jealous - I've almost certainly just wet myself Blush

shalalala · 04/05/2016 22:24
