Thanks nicky - I've just messaged bishbashbosh so will hopefully join you all soon!

Sorry to hear about the bleeding nicky and shalalala - I find this a really anxious time in pregnancy anyway (so near and yet so far) that having that additional stress is the last thing you need Sad .

Before DD, I could sleep for England. I'd often stay up late then sleep in late (at the weekends) and I'd sleep well. In the last 2.5 years I've only slept through the night a handful of times Shock Brew It is hard but you do just get through it. Your boundaries shift and before you know it you'll be grateful for 3 hours straight sleep. I couldn't do it for anyone else in the world but I can for DD. You'll find a way! And you might get a good sleeper Wink

ODog · 08/02/2016 11:10

Just had a letter through for my 36week scan. Wasn't sure if I would make the cut off as my hospital has only just started offering them at 36 weeks as routine. So pleased I'm going to get to check she is ok again before the big day.

Place marking for a catch up

GunShotResidue · 09/02/2016 15:14

I am exhausted today. I'm a bit worried that third trimester tiredness has started already, I'm only 25+5 and was hoping it would hold off until after we move! Anyone else feeling exhausted?

Nicky333 · 09/02/2016 16:01

I'm off sick this week, so not tired although my brain hurts. Trying to teach myself to crochet. It's not going well.

frozensmoothie · 09/02/2016 16:04

I'm feeling absolutely shattered today at 28+2. I've had to open the window next to my desk in the hope that the cold fresh air will stop me from falling asleep at work! Also feeling permanently hungry.

PollyPocket100 · 09/02/2016 19:24

I woke up at 8 this morning and by around 9.30 (I think) I'd managed to fall asleep on the sofa. Didn't wake up till around midday and I'm now struggling to keep my eyes open again. Ridiculous!

GunShotResidue · 09/02/2016 19:52

I've been hungry too, been eating all day! I'm glad it's not just me :) I might go to bed soon, especially as DD will be up at 2!

Hope you feel better soon Nicky!

GrouchyKiwi · 11/02/2016 09:11

I'm feeling tired all the time too, and I'm only 25 weeks.

Saw the consultant yesterday and she sees no reason for me not to have a home birth so I'm seriously considering it. DH is on board now, so I'll talk with my MW at the next appointment and decide after that. I'm definitely leaning towards it, though.

And I hope your bleeding has settled, Nicky and shalala. Flowers

Had my 28 week mw appt this morning. DS got scared of the blood pressure wrap thing and then screamed the whole way through the appt. BP was slightly higher than normal unsurprisingly! Other than that all seems well. She was really good and hurried through the checks as much as she could so we could get out. Poor little guy - he finds it all a bit worrying when people examine me.

Apparently iron was slightly down but I manage to convince her I will eat more red meat and leafy veg rather than have the evil iron tablets I had last time!

DS fell asleep on the way home from the trauma so I'm having a cuppa and a crumpet before I have to wake him up for swimming.

GrouchyKiwi · 11/02/2016 12:22

Prescribed iron tablets are horrible, but I found floridex much easier to digest so that might be an option if you need it?

I'm taking Pregnacare at the moment and for the first time in aaaages my gums are actually red. I've not been anaemic in any of that time, though.

ODog · 11/02/2016 20:07

Thanks grouchy. I'll keep that in mind. It was only slightly under as I think they like it to be 12 and mine was 11.something. So I reckon as long as I eat ok and keep up the preg vitamins I should be ok. It was 9.something at 28 wks with DS and I got prescribed iron tablets and they made me feel awful from the constipation.

ParsnipSoup · 12/02/2016 23:54

Reassuring to see that I'm not the only tired and hungry person on here. I've had to introduce a midafternoon or late evening bowl of cereal or I'm so hungry I want to murder someone.

ODog it's very sweet that your little one was so worried about you, I hope he's not too traumatised by it all!

Everyone at work keeps asking if I've got everything ready yet? With 14 weeks to go surely I don't need anything ready?! Argh!!! I'd planned on starting to sort things out from 30 weeks, is this madness?

Anyone having a baby shower? A few friends have asked if I'd like one. I'd definitely love cake and a get together with friends but feel weird celebrating baby before he's here.

ODog · 13/02/2016 07:25

I think 30 weeks is fine to start getting organised parsnip. In the era of next day delivery and lick and collect, things can be organised overnight if need be. I'm pretty organised but that's because j had most stuff from DS. It's just hospital bag stuff to go now but I'm planning to do it over Easter so I can mooch about the shops while DH looks after DS .

I had a baby shower forced upon me last time as I wasn't sure I wanted one but I really enjoyed a lovely afternoon with all my friends and family. It was like a grown up hen party without alcohol. I did get lots of lovely baby bits too which I was a bit Blush about. But everyone was excited and wanted to buy things. As long as you see it as a but of fun then why not?

Hope everyone has nice weekends planned. Can't believe I've hit the 3rd trimester 28+1 today Shock

GrouchyKiwi · 13/02/2016 08:00

In NZ baby showers are completely normal (for the first baby anyway). They're fun and sweet, IMO.

If someone wants to organise one for you then I say go for it. Grin

We've got a busy weekend planned. Lots of little jobs. And we've decided to get rid of DD2's dummy so that's adding an element of fun...

Hope everyone has a good weekend. Smile

frozensmoothie · 13/02/2016 09:21

I've not got much organised yet either and will be 29 weeks tomorrow. Also thinking 30 weeks will the time to start getting a bit more organised but probably won't start properly getting things sorted until maternity leave starts and I have some more time!

I'm having a baby shower forced on me by some friends. It wouldn't have been my choice but I'm looking forward to it now. We're just having a little gathering at my house.

Felt baby's first hiccups yesterday!

ODog · 13/02/2016 12:37

Wow you are brave dummy ditching grouchy. I'm waiting until after baby arrives to tackle this with DS as I have a feeling I might find it useful.

ParsnipSoup · 15/02/2016 08:03

Grouchy how did the dummy-ditching go this weekend?

Maybe the whole baby shower awkwardness is a weird UK thing? It's strange because I wouldn't feel daft about people wanting to celebrate my birthday or something else big like a graduation.

How has everyone's weekends been? I've got my GTT this morning and I'm both hungry and in a crap mood. I've had a pretty rubbish weekend at work and I'm slowly realising that my goal of working full time including nights and long days up to 36 weeks pregnant might not be achievable which makes me even grouchier. Hopefully all problems will be solved by a post GTT breakfast.

GunShotResidue · 15/02/2016 09:00

Apparently I was supposed to have my GTT on Saturday, I hadn't been told about it so missed it. It's been rescheduled for next saturday at 7.30am!

Starting at 30 weeks is definitely enough time to get ready. There aren't many essentials really, in an emergency you can sign up to a trial of amazon prime and have pretty much everything you need delivered the next day!

DD has decided the day starts at 2 am. Apparently she only need 6-7 hours sleep! Me and DH need a lot more. I'm starting to panic about having 2 non sleepers.

ParsnipSoup · 15/02/2016 10:47

Gunshot I was going to say 0730 is early for a Saturday, but then saw that you're being woken up at 2am!! Shock

10 minutes left of GTT, trying very hard not to be sick. Not eating has made my heartburn unbearable. Can't wait to get some food and gaviscon into my tummy!!

frozensmoothie · 15/02/2016 10:58

Wow 7:30 is early for the GTT Gunshot

Hope your GTT goes well Parnsip and you get to eat something soon! I'm seeing the midwife this afternoon and should get the results of mine. Fingers crossed it will be ok. It must be really tough working nights and weekends. I do a pretty sedentary office job and struggling a bit. I find I'm running on adrenaline all week to get through work and by the time the weekend comes around and I can relax, I end up crashing and being so tired. I was asleep on the sofa for most of the day yesterday!

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 15/02/2016 13:26

Hi all, back from India and still alive/in one piece!! And I didn't even get ill, huzzah! And take THAT mumsnetters who tried to tell me I was irresponsible for going and I'd end up giving birth 3 months early in an Indian shack
Back to work today and trying to be both calm and also efficient, a bit unlike how I have performed at work the past 6 months in both respects! I think I'm starting to detach from the drama of my job as I know my days are numbered!
I've been keeping up with the thread while I was away, is it just me or is the time flying by now? May seems ages away in some respects but I think we'll all end up having to slow down well before that - and for those of us due in the first week of May it's a bit of a false sense of security don't you think?

frozensmoothie · 15/02/2016 16:44

Glad that you're back in one piece Cant and didn't get ill! I am trying to detach a bit from the drama of work too!

Time does seem to be flying at the moment although I'm still in denial that I'm meant to be giving birth in 11 weeks! NCT classes start a week today and I've got the introductory email and instructions which is also making it seem more real now.

Had my midwife appointment earlier and saw a different midwife who seemed more on the ball than my normal one! I'm measuring 30 cm and finally got to hear the heartbeat properly too, although baby still likes to hide and kick the doppler away. My GTT results and blood results were fine although I'm slightly anaemic so need to up the iron intake. I guess that combined with the insomnia explains the tiredness!

GrouchyKiwi · 15/02/2016 19:30

Parsnip Dummy ditching is coming along nicely. I didn't hear her crying tonight at bedtime so that's good!

Welcome back, cant!

Having some cramping and back pain today, which is a bit scary since I ended up in hospital with possible pre-term labour with DD1 after similar symptoms. At least I'm 26 weeks now, so it's not as worrying as it was with her. Sitting quietly and hoping it all settles.
