So much potential baby-action happening at the moment... Exciting stuff!

ODog you have given me hope that my DP might give in and let me call the baby what I want. I do agree that now your baby should be known as Doris.

Icecappedpinetrees · 21/04/2016 21:59

Baby Doris, I love it!!

I've been wearing my DH down for months with name choice. If it's a girl we are 90% sure and if it's a boy there's really only one name I like. Naming a baby is so very difficult. Thing is, they grow into their name whatever you choose, don't they?

please no one use my girl name that I have my heart set on before me Grin

ODog, how are you managing with your toddler? I'm finding it haaaaaaard going.

Icecappedpinetrees · 21/04/2016 22:00

Score through fail. It's been a big fat fail day today. I'm off to bed.

ODog · 22/04/2016 06:49

Any news overnight?

It's so tough ice. He's not quite 2 so luckily still has a reasonably good nap which is basically my lifesaver. As long as I get out with him in the morning and then I rest while he naps then the day is very manageable. The worst bit is the constant bending to pick up all the discarded toddler crap he leaves over the floor!

I think he has twigged something is about the change though. He is suddenly very clingy to me and wants to sleep in our bed on top of me most of the night which isn't ideal with a huge bump in tow too but anything for sleep really.

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 22/04/2016 06:52

SO bloody sick of not sleeping properly. I'm never going to sleep ever again am I??
I seem to have some kind of weird nasal/sinus issue (started a few weeks ago) which basically means halfway through the night I wake up and can't breathe. It's usually between 3 and 4am and then happens again around the middle of the afternoon. Strange, no? DP had his alarm set for 4.15am for a v early departure to Paris for the day and I got up at 4 and shut myself in the bathroom for 15mins blowing my nose (fun times!!) and haven't been back to sleep since Confused

Oh baby names! DP and I have kind of agreed on a boys name but don't have girls name at all! Is slightly worrying although we are SO sure it's boy (for no good reason!) I'm hoping it will be fine one way or another!
Doris Dog has a great ring to it so that's you sorted Odog!!

Icecappedpinetrees · 22/04/2016 08:20

Morning all

YY to bending down to pick up stuff and as soon as its picked up something else is discarded. And YY to the sleeping and clingy - they definitely know. Everyone keeps asking my son about his brother or sister, even on days when I'm trying to spend quality time with him and not mention the imminent changes.

He was through to our bed at 1am, must trim his wee dragon toenails - they were dragging down my back as I tried to lie in my side protecting the bump.

I had an hormonal (I hope) melt down last night. Cried for about an hour, sobbing and boo hooing. Whining and whinging.

How are folk who were twingy and sore yesterday? X

Pikz · 22/04/2016 15:29

Icecap and Odog YY to picking stuff up all the time. Am exhausted by toddler.

Am praying something happens in the next 8 days I do not want to be overdue

GunShotResidue · 22/04/2016 15:36

Hormones are not fun Ice, I had a mini breakdown in the consultants office before my scan yesterday. He was very sweet but I think he thought I was mad.

Toddlers are tiring, I'm so glad it's the weekend and DH can help more!

Icecappedpinetrees · 22/04/2016 20:12

DS was really good today - no nervous breakdown for me tonight Grin. Totally agree with gunshot that knowing DH can help tomorrow gives me the strength to carry on!! even if he did phone at 6.10pm saying he wouldn't be home til 8pm meaning solo tea, milk, story, bath, pyjama wrestle and bed

8 days Pikz - sending you positive vibes. Do positive "go-into-labour" vibes exist?? They do now!!

Happy Friday everyone!

ODog · 22/04/2016 20:31

Nothing can explain the irrational hated I feel toward DH when he calls to say he won't be back until conveniently? just after bedtime! I feel your pain ice

Everythinggettingbigger · 22/04/2016 21:43

Oh my God I only missed 2 days and there seems to be a lot hapoening!! No may babies been born in April yet then?

Had lots of twinges and aches going on myself and strangely big waves of sickness too! First week of mat leave over....can't believe how quick it went!

Feeling the DP hatred this week too.....he's currently away on his second stag do of the year....the only contact I've had from him is to say he had landed......thanks for checking I'm OK Hmm

DS has been very helpful this week getting himself dressed for school (about time he's 6 this year!) But he's getting worse with his sleeping not better.....I think I need a bigger bed!!

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 22/04/2016 21:55

No babies that we know of...yet!!
My sister came up to visit today, so after a v early wake-up for me (4am! Woohoo!!) and DP leaving early for a meeting in Paris I went to meet her and we had a busy day - I have totally overdone it Confused It was good in that I have finally bought a changing bag, baby towels, enough newborn sleepsuits to see me through and a first toy (vital, obviously!!) but I can hardly walk now. DP came back late and immediately set about building the crib (even before eating!!) so I am actually feeling the love tonight!! I think he is feeling under pressure now I've got almost everything else sorted!

GrouchyKiwi · 22/04/2016 22:05

My pains have completely settled but the baby is moving in a VERY uncomfortable way tonight. It's like I'm getting punched or headbutted on my cervix.

Had a miserable time getting to my osteopath appointment today. Was dropping the girls off at a friend's flat but got the wrong door number so spent 10 minutes calling her and trying the buzzer to no avail. She'd left her phone inside while coming out to meet me, but was waiting in the vestibule so didn't see me a few doors down! Had spent £25 on a taxi to get to her place and had to spend another £9 to rush to my appointment instead of taking the bus. And then I got the one taxi driver in Edinburgh who obeys the speed limit. Angry

At least the appointment went well, and then I got to eat lunch in a cafe by myself while reading a book, so that was good.

DH and I will get the crib put together tomorrow. I hope. We have lost the instructions so it might not go too well.

Icecappedpinetrees · 23/04/2016 06:21

Didn't realise you were North of the border too Kiwi - Smile I'm starting to have those pains too, more shooting than head butting. Let's see what the weekend brings.

Hurrah for everyone getting nearly ready.... Preparing feels good, satisfies the nesting instinct.

ODog · 23/04/2016 06:27

Yy to cervix head butting. Also baby is laying in such a way that every time i put my foot on the clutch I get a pain in my back.

DH just taken DS downstairs so I can lay in lay in bed on mn

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 23/04/2016 08:33

Yep, I totally overdid it walking around yesterday - something feels horribly painful in my pelvis and could barely get out of bed to go to the bathroom in the night. DP is in one of his classic Saturday morning bad moods and whereas usually I buzz around and "fix it" by doing what he wants to do I think I'm going to be housebound and moany today as I'm in pain, which probably means he is going to be a bit of an arse challenging to be around!! Wish me luck!
And hope everyone else wakes up better than me today!

Everythinggettingbigger · 23/04/2016 16:33

Here's another one that's over done things! Between all the running around and weeding the garden and sorting DS room out (4 massive bin bags to a charity shop and 3 actually in the bin.....safe to say I have a very spoilt child.....not by us by the in laws!) I am now so tired I can't peel myself of the couch!

"Surprise" baby shower tomorrow Grin.....all I know is its tomorrow but don't know any other details!

GrouchyKiwi · 23/04/2016 16:57

I'm going to murder DH today. He took the children out to a fun Dads and Children afternoon, and has come back all "Woe, I am so tired" and I'm like, welcome to my fucking life, sunshine. And he's creating issues where there are none. Gah.

Supposed to be putting the crib together but that's not going to happen.

I tidied the playroom while they were out. Literally every toy was out on the floor and it took me forever. Had planned to do the girls' room and get the whole house looking beautiful but far too tired now. Resting so I can actually cook dinner.

Everything I hear you about in-laws spoiling the children. It is one of my biggest frustrations. They just don't listen!

cantbelieveImquittingcoffee · 23/04/2016 17:15

Grouchy feel free to rant, I feel like I'm the only one who moans about my DP here (makes me paranoid!!) - how bloody annoying!! After me predicting today would go very badly and be full of bickering it has (unusually for a Saturday!) turned out to be quite productive - I think some parenting instinct has finally kicked in and he is painting the bedroom and wouldn't even stop to eat (unheard of!!). At almost 41 it's his first ever decorating project - I have owned my flat for 12 years and in the time I live there painted it several times over so (as I can't climb ladders) I have been giving him instructions and painting the edges on my hands and knees! We are really actually finally getting our act together now I'm 38 weeks and 2 days - just watch this baby go 12 days late now....

GrouchyKiwi · 23/04/2016 18:15

Hooray for getting stuff done, cant. Smile

The worst thing is that I know I'm overreacting and being irrational. DH is excellent really (and brought me breakfast in bed this morning) but there are times he just doesn't get it.

OP posts:
ParsnipSoup · 23/04/2016 22:24

I wish I had the energy to overdo things. Since I finished nightshifts on Friday morning I have literally slept, relaxed, eaten and done the bare minimum of tidying. I'd planned to get the whole house spotless over the next few days and instead I just want to curl up on the sofa with the cats.

Icecappedpinetrees · 24/04/2016 09:06

Hurrah for finishing Parsnip, well done.

It sounds like you're doing exactly the right thing, resting and sleeping. Cuddle up with those cats and get sorted when you've recovered a bit from working.

Pregnancy nosebleeds anyone?

Toddler toddled through at 12.45am and snored like an elephant all night. I think we have a sleep problem, it's pretty much 50/50 as to whether he'll be through or not.....can't even begin to tackle it now. I am stressing about how we will Cope when the baby is born, started to feel a ball of anxiety yesterday...

ODog · 24/04/2016 10:50

I feel your pain ice. DS has only ever reliably slept through for one month in his entire life. He woke a couple of time last night but I managed to settle him in his own bed and he wandered through to us at about 6.15 which i currently consider a very good night. I would say 4-5 nights out of 7 he is in with us before midnight at the moment.

I don't think it's worth tackling anything when they have such a huge change so imminent. Plan is to let him sleep one side of me and baby the other side if she ends up another co sleeper and DH will camp out on the sofa bed in DS's room. Not ideal but it's not forever plus I sort of like having my babies all in bed together

ODog · 24/04/2016 10:52

In other nocturnal news one of the bastard cats brought in a baby bird last night so DH and I spent ages chasing that around and trying to stop the cats from killing it. If it's not the baby, it's the toddler and if they are both behaving it's the cats!

Everythinggettingbigger · 24/04/2016 12:11

Hurray for finishing parsnip! I was the same for the first couple of days, just didn't do anything! Enjoy it, the need to clean and nest will kick in!

DP not home from his stag do yet so luckily he's not done anything to make me moan at the min but I can see he's going to drive me insane when he does!

DS currently rolling around the living room on my exercise ball....I've not been near it yet!

Just sitting here feeling nervous all ready for my mum to pick me up for my baby shower! I hate surprises and all attention on me so I can already feel my face going beetroot!!
